Lately it had been rather...hectic, for lack of a better term. Well, maybe not hectic for Rose exactly, but for those that were close to her. After having moved into this rather large home, it seems like the house was collecting guests here and there. One of them having been Violet, who still felt the need to be near her at all times it seemed like. Rose didn't mind. The house was pretty damn big anyways, so one other person didn't affect it much.
However, recently, Rose had taken in another house guest. Akeelah. She felt incredibly sorry for her shifter friend, and didn't want her wandering around alone and homeless. She and Guillotine had recently split up, due to the hound cheating on her...one more than one occasion. Guilt jabbed at her, a large amount of it in fact. Little did Akeelah know, Rose had been one of Gil's many...flings. Though she had been ignorant to Akeelah at the time. And now, her daughter Annabelle was living proof of the sin. Hopefully though, Akeelah would never have to know. But this only caused more guilt in her. As if to make up for it...somewhat, was to allow Akeelah to stay. Though of course, she genuinely wanted her friend to stay here until she got back on her feet. Her old home in the forest was far too dangerous, especially with that mad Shadow Demon running loose in there. Rose did feel bad for Weylyn though, because well...there were two extra house guests now. Not that they caused trouble or anything really.
Rose was curled up in bed, sleeping rather peacefully that night. She had hardly moved an inch, which was a rare thing in her sleep, seeing as she constantly had dreams that made her toss in her sleep a lot. The sad part was though, ever since having the twins, Rose had become a terribly light sleeper. Every abnormal or somewhat loud noise woke her up instantly. That kinda sucked a bit, but, at least that meant she had some maternal instincts.
And speaking of loud, abnormal noises, there was a sound of a crash, which echoed from way downstairs. How she even heard it was beyond her, but it sent her jolting up in bed. Rose jerked her head to look at the baby monitor on the night desk, and not a single noise came from it. She heard some shuffling coming from downstairs, and a little thump or two like something had been dropped. Rose got out of bed, curious now. She grabbed a robe and quietly opened the bedroom door and peeked her head out into the hall. Rose looked back towards the bed, unsure if Wey had woken up too. If he was still sleeping, she wouldn't bother him if there was nothing wrong. Maybe one of the others was downstairs and just...was making noises.
Carefully, Rose crept down the stairs and seen a stream of light coming from the kitchen. She walked in to find Akeelah there in only her undies, and a large mess made of coffee beans and other fixings to make coffee with.
"Akeelah? What are you doing up this late at night? What happened?" She asked curiously, looking at the mess.

“Damn it where is the stupid coffee.” Akeelah muttered to herself as she rummaged around the kitchen looking for the elusive coffee beans. It was odd for the little shifter to want to drink coffee. The stuff tasted so bitter and nasty that Akeelah didn’t like the stuff. But for some reason tonight she wanted it. God only knows why. It was just…she had this strange craving for it. Akeelah didn’t know why but she did. In fact, lately the girl had been having all sorts of cravings for foods and drinks that she couldn’t seem to sate. Most of the cravings were for meat, from a simple burger to wild deer, even cravings for the kind of prey she used to hunt before being trapped in this world. The cravings were unpredictable and came at the most inconvenient of times. Like right now for instance. Akeelah wasn’t planning to be doing anything tonight. Though the little leopard was used to prowling out at night she decided to go to bed tonight. But oh no…she just had to get a craving for one of the worst human drinks ever.
Akeelah moved around the kitchen quickly and quietly so she wouldn’t disturb anyone while she gathered the stuff she needed to brew a cup of coffee for. While Akeelah was a nocturnal creature she knew that not everyone in the household were like her. Well, maybe the vampiric demon Violet, but that was about it. The last thing Akeelah wanted was to wake up anyone while she was doing stuff for herself. Especially the children. Akeelah didn’t know too much about babies, but she knew that they cried for just about anything. If she woke up Rose’s babies by making too much noise they were bound to start wailing and wake up everyone if the racket that she made didn’t do it. In and out, that was all she wanted to do. The girl had no desire to hang around in the kitchen after she was done. It was one of the reasons why she didn’t even bother to get changed when she made her way downstairs. The girl wasn’t wearing very much tonight. She had came downstairs in just her underwear. It was what she normally wore to bed anyway. Was she worried about anyone spotting like that? Not at all. It wasn’t much clothing but it was still something. Besides, she wasn’t going to stay here long.
But the lack of coffee beans was holding her back. The damn can didn’t seem to be anywhere where she could find it…anywhere that she could reach anyway. Akeelah looked up at the cabinets above the counter. Naturally because of her height the cabinets were always the last place that she looked. If they weren’t where she could reach they had to be there. The girl glared at the damn things for a moment. God she hated having to try and find a way to reach damn things, but she had already gotten this far so she had little choice now. The girl let out a soft sigh before climbing up onto the counter to give herself better leverage. Akeelah opened the cabinets and scanned over its contents when she finally laid eyes on her prize. There it was! The coffee! “Of course it’s on the highest shelf…” the girl mumbled. It was like someone was deliberately keeping the damn thing out of reach. Slowly Akeelah reached up for it but feel short. The girl frowned, so close yet so far away. Again the girl tried to grab the thing, her fingers just barely brushing against the can, but not enough to get a good grip of it.
Come on , you can do this! she thought as she tried to get it again. This time, as she tried to nudge it a little closer to her it moved too fast and fell, first hitting the poor thing in the head before bouncing off and crashing loudly on the floor. “Oww…shit.” So much for making any noise. Akeelah rubbed her head as she looked down at the disaster left on the floor. The lid of the can had flown off during the fall and all the contents had spilled out. Now she had to clean up the damn mess. But the mess wasn’t the only thing that she had to worry about…what about everyone else. Akeelah listened for any signs of disturbance but the house remained silent. She let out a small sigh of relief before sliding off of the counter to clean up the mess she made. At least she didn’t wake up anyone else.
…Or so she thought. As Akeelah started to scoop up the beans to put back into the can she heard a familiar voice at the kitchen entrance. Slowly the shifter looked up to see Rose standing in front of her. Shit, so she did wake someone up. “S-sorry…” Akeelah said, feeling a bit embarrassed about being so clumsy. “I was trying to get some coffee and the can fell…don’t worry about it, I’ll clean up the mess….I didn’t wake the babies up did I?”

It wasn't often that Wey could say he woke up to Rose leaving the bed. Normally, he wouldn't wake her up when he left to go out for a midnight hunt, and he was just about to do that when the crash happened. For some reason, however, he decided to pretend he was still asleep. Why he did it, he had no idea. He wasn't afraid; he could sense no danger inside the house and knew it was probably one of the many house guests that had joined since he first gave the mansion to Rose. He listened for the sound of crying babies and sank deeper into the mattress while they remained quiet.
Perhaps it was because he felt like he had been caught; he was going to leave to suck some fear out of people, leave his family and his girlfriend behind. He always felt guilty about it, sneaking off into the middle of the night. He only sneaked out because he didn't want to disturb Rose or the babies with a ruckus, but that didn't mean he didn't feel shady for doing it. So, he sat in bed, wondering if this was how Rose felt when she woke up alone in the middle of the night. It was an empty feeling, and he sighed before rising to follow his girlfriend down to the commotion.
He, too, had not bothered to change out of his pj's, which were essentially long pants that hugged his hips. The rest of his body was bare, and he usually only wore the pants for the sake of keeping the house rated pg, because if it were his choice he and Rose would walk around naked all damned day.
Wey smelled the coffee even before he entered the kitchen. The large, beautiful kitchen. He wondered if the people living with him appreciated how much effort he had put into choosing the house, and if they were grateful to have a place to live. It was supposed to be just him and his girlfriend, and their children, of course, so they could romp around all the rooms and do naughty things without being noticed or caught. Lately, his fantasies were beginning to fade. He couldn't exactly do anything with her if people were going to watch.
I don't hear them, so, no, I don't think they're awake, Wey answered with a small grin as he entered, shaking his head at the mess on the floor. You can leave it, honestly. The housekeeper or maid or whatever can clean it tomorrow. He carefully walked around the spill and reached for the cabinet, his arm easily reaching the spare can they had. He grinned when he placed it on the counter. Help yourself, but make me some, too. You want any, Rose? Wey asked? He, being the archaic shadow-cat he was, didn't know how to work the coffee machine, and took a seat on the counter, waiting patiently for his cup. He patted the spot next to him, for Rose to join. Although, I personally don't know if this is true, but don't most people drink coffee in the morning? I didn't realize it was a midnight snack type of ordeal. Wey said ignorantly, for coffee, and pretty much everything else, didn't have an effect on him.

Honestly, Rose knew Wey got up in the middle of the night, but she knew he had his reasons. Seeing as he didn't eat the same way as she did, she knew he needed to leave to go eat. Of course naturally, sometimes if she did wake up to find him gone, she always felt a prickle of lonliness. But, she knew he'd be back around soon, so she didn't wallow around in the feeling. Lately, she just felt incredibly guilty, for numerous reasons. Mostly it was for poor Wey's benefit. He was so patient with her, and she was glad for it. Hopefully soon, the extra house guests wouldn't be around. Akeelah she knew for sure wouldn't be here forever. Violet was a little more of an issue when it came to getting rid of. Seeing as she was terrified of practically everything, and for whatever reason, she had attached herself to Rose like a little parasite. She really wished she could stay with Geikitsu and their younger sisters. Rose would have a talk with her soon about that. Arganok was an entirely different manner entirely. She couldn't get rid of him even if she tried, not that she wanted to. The Oushaga was more aware of what went on between Wey and Rose, and he mainly kept to his room, or went out roaming, so he was hardly an issue. Rose would make it up to Wey somehow because really, he didn't need to put up with this, yet he did. Oh how the Nephilim cursed herself for her over generosity at times.
Before she had went downstairs, Rose had carefully pressed an ear to the door to the twins room, hearing nothing. She hadn't hear anything on the monitor, but she wanted to make sure. An amused smile appeared on her lips. Those kids were heavy sleepers. Or maybe Rose was just that easy to wake up.
Rose shrugged and grinned at poor Akeelah. Ok, this was bound to happen sometime. Some of the things were a bit up too high. Of course, Rose didn't know Akeelah was a coffee person. She herself barely enjoyed coffee, but it was good for a little burst of energy, and settling an upset stomach strangely enough. "Don't worry about it. Accidents happen." She said, looking over the mess. Well, it's nice to know she wasn't the only klutz in the house.
She had been about to inform Akeelah that she didn't wake the babies when Wey's voice sounded behind her. Rose turned her head a grinned at him, though it appeared a little more apologetic than anything. "He's right, they aren't awake. Those two can sleep through an earthquake." Rose said with a little laugh. "I'm just a really light sleeper now." She said, shrugging. Rose then turned her head back to Wey and playfully bumped her elbow against his side. "Those poor maids have to clean our messes all the time though." She said, playfully rolling her eyes at him. Rose carefully made her way after Wey around the spilled coffee beans as he brought down a spare can for Akeelah.
"Hmm... a cup does sound good about now." She pondered as another grin popped on her face. "Ok Akeelah, how about a deal? You clean this up, and I'll make the coffee. How's that?" She said, walking towards the little closet by the kitchen and bringing out a broom and a dust pan. "Because let's face it...you still need to learn how to make coffee. That's where you and Wey have something in common." Rose teased, looking from Akeelah to Wey as she handed her to broom and dustpan. It was then that she realized once again that Akeelah was just in her underwear. "Erm, do you want a robe or...something Akeelah? It is kinda chilly down here." Rose asked, giving a little nervous smile before turning to start making the coffee. She flipped the coffee-maker on and propped herself up on the counter by Wey.
"Sometimes people drink coffee late at night. I use to a lot, especially before the twins were born." Rose said with a little smile, swinging her legs a bit as the dangled from the counter top. She looked back up towards the hall as she seen movement.
"Uh, I heard something down here and I was just checking out what it was." Said Arganok as he peered around the corner before stepping out. He was only dressed in boxer shorts, exposing his lanky torso and chicken legs. Arg rubbed at his eyes in an almost child like manner before looking up at everyone. He caught sight of Akeelah and her lack of clothing, and his eyes widened in surprise and he jerked his head down so he stared at the floor. "Umm...was I interrupting something or...something?" Arg asked, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. Rose couldn't help but bust out laughing at poor Arg's misfortune for having venture down the stairs to investigate.

Rose wasn’t the one to give Akeelah an answer about the twins. The shifter looked over to Wey, Rose’s mate, as he entered the kitchen. Great, did I wake up the entire house? she wondered grimly. Honestly she shouldn’t have been surprised to find that she had woken Wey up along with Rose. The two did sleep in the same bed, so if Rose woke up then so did Wey. Though for all she knew Wey was going to wake up soon anyway. Like Akeelah, Wey was more nocturnal. Wey usually snuck outside the house around the same time as she did to take care of his own business. What that business was the girl didn’t know. She didn’t bother to ask, after all whatever Wey did at night was his business so out of respect she didn’t bother him about it. Rose confirmed what he said and Akeelah breathed a small sigh of relief. At least the kids could get some sleep so it wasn’t too bad. “I’ll keep that in mind.” She said when Rose mentioned that she was a light sleeper. Akeelah never made much noise when she left the house at night, but now that she knew Rose was a light sleeper she had to make a mental note to be more careful when she did leave.
When Wey told he that it was fine to leave the mess Akeelah shook her head. “No, I made the mess so I will clean it up. I am guest in your home so it’s the least I can do.” The shifter continued to try and scoop the beans back into the can, wondering what to do with them after. At least the floor wasn’t dirty so the beans were still good, she could easily make a cup still with them once she got them off the floor. Just as she thought about still using the coffee beans she had spilled Wey grabbed a fresh can from up on the cupboard, and asked her to make him and Rose a cup while she was at it. “Sure.” The girl said and smiled. Just then Rose offered to make the coffee in exchange for Akeelah cleaning up. The girl’s smile widened “I like that idea even better.” She said. “Yours will probably taste better than what I can make anyway.”
Akeelah took the broom that Rose offered her, when Rose offered her a robe to wear she just shook her head. “It’s okay, I wasn’t planning to be down here that long, or else I would have gotten changed. Honestly it didn’t feel too chilly for her at the moment. Hell, Akeelah had to deal with colder weather than this before. Spending winters out in the streets, or back in the old house in the woods with nothing but the clothing on her back had been worse, that and trying to bathe in the river. Just the thought of the icy cold water made the girl shudder. At least she didn’t have to worry about that for now. In that way she was kind of grateful that Rose insisted she stay with her when she did. Akeelah didn’t exactly like being treated like she was some lost unfortunate cub, but she didn’t have a clue what to do with herself after she left Gil. Even now she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do. Before she met the hellhound she had one simple goal, find her way back home. After she got with him she had pretty much dropped that goal to stay with him. But now that she had left Gil she didn’t know what to do. Maybe she should have just left New Orlands, but then what?
Wey’s question forced the girl out of her thoughts. Akeelah shrugged in response. “I just had a weird craving for it.” She told him. “Lately I have been craving stuff at odd hours of the day, mostly meat though.” Honestly she had no clue why she had a coffee craving of all things. Coffee was a pretty nasty tasting human drink that she just didn’t like. The only time she drank it was when she needed to wake herself up; even then it took her awhile to force the damn liquid down her throat. And now here she was, knocking shit over late at night trying to make some. Akeelah chuckled when Rose said that she used to drink coffee at night too. “Well, at least I am not the only odd one here.” She was just about to sweep up the mess she had made when she heard movement nearby. Oh great, she had woken up someone else. Akeelah looked up at the entrance to find another man walking into the room. Though Akeelah hadn’t seen the man much she recognized Arg. Just like the rest of them he looked like he had just gotten out of bed. He asked what was going on, but stopped to stare at Akeelah the second he opened his eyes. The shifter gave him an odd look when he looked away just as Rose started laughing. “Are you okay?” she asked him, man he was acting strange.

The shadow cat was good-natured and quite alright with the whole situation. So Akeelah had made a big noise. He didn't care, even if she woke the twins. Mistakes happened, and the fact that she was a nocturnal creature living in a primarily (now that Wey had tried to spend more time with Rose and the twins) diurnal household, he couldn't blame her for slipping up now and again. He had noticed her on previous nights while leaving, and always sensed, even if he was asleep, her leaving. It was his 'security' that he had set up with his new and improved shadow powers. It wasn't much, for all it could do was tell him if there was an intruder, and not actually stop said intruder, but it did something.
Wey had also completely glazed over the fact that the woman was in her underwear. He personally didn't mind, as he was pretty much naked except for the thin cloth that covered his lower half. To be honest, he didn't like clothes in general, but the strange looks he got when he didn't wear them, and the people who chased him in flashing vehicles weren't exactly pleasant. He never had a problem with nudity, however, but he wondered vaguely if Rose would mind that he didn't mind. He wasn't checking Akee out or anything, but he wasn't keeping his eyes glued to the floor, either.
Wey decided it would be best to be safe and keep his eyes on Akee's eyes or on Rose. Women were stranger to him than many things in the world, and he was a shadow cat, so that said something. When Rose and he were having trouble in their relationship when she was pregnant, he swore she was possessed. And not in her half-demon sort of way.
Still, he smiled and joined the chatter. The counter was cool, and Rose also felt chilly against him, more so than normal. It was because the night chilled the air. It felt nice, her reduction in warmth, for he was always excreting heat like it was sweat. He cuddled closer to her, waiting for the coffee. The smell hit his nostrils stronger than ever. He liked lots and lots of milk in his coffee and detested the bitterness of it black, but he didn't drink it often so it wasn't that big of a deal. He wondered why they even had it. Perhaps the maids cleaned it.
Yep, a guest. We don't expect you to do anything; that's what a guest is. Someone who is welcomed without anything in return... Right? I mean, I'm not really sure how this stuff works, but we pay the maids to clean our messes so might as well give them something to do. Their job is cleaning, your job is being Rose's friend, Rose's job is being loved, mine is steal-- getting the money and our job is taking care of the kids. I think.... The shadow cat looked warmly at his mate, hoping he had properly described the situation. He new the basics of how the society worked, but he was still iffy on some things. Still, it wasn't like the maids weren't paid a very decent wage.
Hmm, cravings. I get those sometimes. Although Rose was really bad when she was pregnant...but that's normal in pregnant things, right? the cat asked, unsure of himself again. Mostly my cravings are for fear and anxiety, though. I'm sure you can't relate to that, he stated, not realizing he probably didn't make sense to the poor house guest.
In all honesty, as long as Rose was happy, he didn't mind the guests at all. It made the place more lively for the most part. But there were times when he seriously wanted them out so he could just go on a sexual expedition with Rose all over the place. Maybe he could designate days where people went different places...
Wey joined in on Rose's laughter, his with a rumble in his chest. He had grown closer to Arg lately, and found him to be an amusing counterpart. Yes, Arganok, you are completely interrupting our sexual escapades. So, either join in or leave, Wey joked sarcastically, really happy that he was starting to understand it. He's just shy, Akee... I guess. Or maybe he's intimidated.

Well, though there were quite a few house guests now, at least they were all unique, and they didn't cause any trouble. And, it did fill up the giant freaking house a bit, which made it a whole lot less intimidating at night time seeing as there would at least be a couple others in the house. The only ones to leave in the middle of the night were Wey and Akeelah. Which, Rose didn't mind them going out and roaming, seeing as they were more night oriented beings than what Rose was. Plus, she knew exactly how Akeelah was, and she knew how the shifter didn't like to be confined in somewhere for too long. And Rose knew she could take care of herself out there, but she did still worry for her, especially with all the drama between her and Gil and everything. Wey, Rose really didn't ever need to worry about. The only time she ever got suspicious of him, was when Arg tagged along with him while he was out hunting. Because Rose had a feeling Arg was doing something he shouldn't be when out with Wey, and that was human hunting. Not that Rose could do much about it anymore...seeing as his old shock collar busted a couple years ago.
"Eh, I wouldn't worry too much about waking me up. I just go right back to sleep normally." Rose said with a little grin, playing with the tips of her hair. She looked back over at Wey, who seemed to be trying especially hard to either look at her, or strictly at Akeelah's head area. The Nephilim shook her head slightly, grinning before she patted Wey's arm. "You don't need to try so hard. I'm not going to stick you in a tiny cage or something. Just be subtle." Rose said quietly and jokingly, her eyes meeting Wey's."
"Well, I don't mean to boast but...I do make a pretty good cup of coffee." Rose grinned proudly, in an almost child-like manner. Like Wey, Rose absolutely hated it just flat out black. It needed sugar and creamer. Lots of sugar and creamer for it to be acceptable. Rose felt Wey snuggle up to her and she grinned, cuddling her boyfriend back. Despite having a robe on, she was still a bit chilly. Wey was seriously like her own personal heater, which was a really nice thing to have on cold night. Half the time she didn't even need blankets. All Rose needed to do was cuddle up to Wey and she was good. How she didn't manage to freeze him was beyond her. "Well, I figure I'd offer. Seeing as it is cold...or maybe it's just me, being the cold blooded person I am." Rose said with a mock, evil grin.
She waited patiently for the coffee, watching it as Akeelah and Wey spoke. "Yes, that is how a guest works." Rose chimed in as Wey spoke, quieting herself as he spoke again, and a wide grinned crossed her face as he tried to explain how things were in the house. "Yes, in a crazed nutshell that's how it is." She said with a chuckle, leaning her head on her mate's shoulder and smiling. "Such interesting jobs we have...I think Akeelah here has the roughest one though. Being my friend? Such a tough thing to do." Rose said with a good natured grin before hearing the ding from the coffee maker.
"Coffee's done!" She said in a sing-song voice before somewhat reluctantly detaching herself from Wey, and oh so childishly she scooted down the counter to the coffee maker. She reached overhead for the cabinet and took down three mugs. "Akeelah, how do you like your coffee?" Rose asked, pouring the cups of coffee carefully. When Akeelah talked about her cravings, she nodded along, and Wey contributed with a comment of his own. Talking first about Rose's odd cravings, to which she smiled in amusement. "Oh yeah, those are normal. I just wish I craved things that had actually been good for me. Not all those sweets that I wanted." She said with a mock pout, patting her belly. Rose then let out a little laugh and looked at Wey. "Sweetie, I don't think a lot of people can relate to your cravings. Hey! Maybe sometime you two will crave like...fish or something, and you guys can go fishing!" Rose said jokingly, subtly mentioning both Wey and Akeelah's feline like mannerisms.
Now, when poor Arg walked in, yes, she couldn't help but laugh at the timing he had picked to come on down. Arg was...well...shy around girls, particularly ones who weren't fully dressed. Why, Rose didn't know. Perhaps he just didn't know what to make of that, or what to do about it. Wey had joined in on Rose's laughter, while Akeelah seemed utterly confused. Wey explained to her why he was acting that way, and Rose nodded, still laughing.
"Well I was just asking because erm...well..." Arg said, quickly looking up, catching another look at Akeelah before dropping his head again like a nervous kid. He did let out a little laugh at Wey's sarcastic comment, and he waved a hand dismissively. "Haha! No, none of that for me thank you." He jerked his head back up, his golden eyes slightly narrowing at Wey before he stuck out his tongue. "I am not intimidated!" He said defensevly, crossing his skinny arms across his chest. Rose leaped down from the counter and leaned in towards Akeelah, grinning and cupping a hand over her mouth as she murmured into Akeelah's ear. "Partially naked girls is one of the scariest things for him." She then looked over at Arg. "Dude, chill, seriously. She's not going to eat you...or will she?" Rose said in a conspiratorial voice, waggling her eye brows. Arganok seemed a little off put by the joke, and he entered the kitchen, a little warily, and side-stepping more or less towards Wey's side. Since actually getting to know the shadow-cat, Arganok had come to enjoy Weylyn's company, mainly because it was nice to actually converse with a male.
"I'm assuming you want a cup Arg?" She said, going back to the cabinet and pulling out another mug. "Oh, sure. Thanks." Rose poured him a cup, and handed it to Arg, seeing as the Oushaga didn't like anything relatively sweet in his coffee. She then reached for the sugar and vanilla creamer before shuffling off to grab milk from the fridge for Wey. Rose poured in Wey's coffee, adding a great deal of milk into the mix so it was a fairly light brown. "There you go Wey." She said once again in a sing-song manner before pouring her own coffee and fixings. Rose then turned back to Akeelah. "Sugar, milk, creamer, or a mix of all three?" She asked, smiling.
