In CharacterA loud noise tore through the air of the pub, but it didn't get all that much of a reaction. One of the waitresses, a new hire, had dropped a platter of drinks. Only one glass had survived the fall, three others shattered and sent a spray of glass and liquid across the floor of the pub. The girl flinched visibly, her eyes screwed shut, her arms tucked close and up, to protect her face. In mere moments, her face became completely flushed and she started apologizing profusely to the group who's drinks she'd just dropped. She took too much time trying to apologize for the incident, and the shift-manager made his way to her, a broom and dustpan in his hands.
Noah felt bad for the girl, this was her first night working with a major crowd and she seemed to not deal with the stress well. Plus, he knew, any broken dishes came out of her paycheck. Giving a light sigh, he turned his attention back to the counter he was standing behind. Most of the people were drunk enough that they either didn't really notice the crashing sound of the glass, or they didn't really care.
The girl was lucky that the group didn't give her much trouble for dropping the drinks. Those would have been that group's first set of drinks, so they weren't actually drunk yet. Most of the people got pretty aggressive or mean when they were drunk, especially when the waitress dropped all the drinks in front of them. The shifter absentmindedly wiped down the counter as he listened to the manager, who had gone into the back room again. He was angry, but he didn't sound like he would be giving the girl too hard of a time. This was her first offense, maybe he wouldn't even take it out of her pay.
He got pulled back to the bar by someone asking for a refill. If he remembered correctly, this would be the man's fourth shot of Irish Car Bomb in just under twenty minutes. Noah predicted that it wouldn't be long before the guy got too drunk to remember to order another one. He refilled the shot glass quickly, moving on to the next customer.
Noah withheld another sigh. This was his fourth day in a row working the late hours. He didn't dislike it, per say, but he was tired. Plus he had a new objective, now, that he could almost convince himself to quit his job for. He knew that there were more people that weren't normal out there, now. The first one he'd met gave him a lot of answers, but she opened a whole new world of questions, too.
The sigh escaped his lips this time around, as he continued his tasks of keeping up with the bar.

Ah it felt good to be back. Seraphina couldn't help but stand there and take her surroundings in the moment that she stepped into the bar. It had been far too long since Sera had been to the Wandering Mule. This spot had been her favorite place to come and drink. It was old, small, but charming, and one of the few bars in town that wouldn't kick her out when she got too rowdy, or ban her when she got into a fight. She had loved it back here in the old days. She had been a part of the hussle and bustle of this place for a long time now. That was all in the past now. It hadn't been too long in the past, but it certainly felt like a long ass time to her. Life had gotten a little hectic for her in the past few months. Sera had gotten in trouble with the wrong crowd, had been forced to go into hiding from the supernatural police wannabes, found shelter with some wizard prince, who just happen to find her long lost sister, and promised to fix all her problems if she helped take care of the girl.
It was...a rather hectic few months to say the least. While there were some pros to her current situation (getting to laze around in a mansion all day) she still missed her old life. She used to have such a fun life. She used to get drunk, fight no good punks, and raise hell. Now she was cooped up inside all the time, forced to raise her little sister like she was the little girl's damn mother. She liked Annie and all but the kid was too clingy, and at times too crazy for her to deal with. Taking care of her was draining. It didn't help that Akhtar's servants kept trying to stop her from continuing her 'bad habits'. The stress was starting to build. It was getting to the point that even the times she managed to sneak out the manor to take a smoking break were not helping fix her mood. She needed to get out. So while everyone was distracted, and Annie fell asleep Sera sneaked out to come here. Getting smashed even if it was for only one night was just the thing she needed to really perk her up.
Coming back here was like looking back into the past. It was packed like it usually was on a saturday night. The Wandering Mule looked the same way it always had, the usual hustle and bustle brought back pleasant memories. The people were the same too, Sera could see the usual patrons of the bar that she used to see every saturday night, as well as some the usual staff. Well, some of the staff were the same. Sera walked in just in time to see some new waitress drop most of the drinks she was carrying on the floor. The solaris shook her head as she watched the woman scramble to clean up the mess she made. The poor girl, this was probably her first busy night, hopefully she wouldn't get yelled at for messing up. Sera slipped past the new girl to walk up to the bar. There was another new face working there too.
“Man, I am gone for like a month and there are already a bunch of new guys working here.” she mumbled. The Wandering Mule was known for changing very little, even the staff rarely changed. Sera didn't really mind though, she was pretty good at getting along with the staff here so she wouldn't have much of a problem with the newbies. Though it did suck that she didn't see at least one of the employees that she was used to. She would have to make due with what she got. “Sup.” she greeted the bartender. “I see two cute new faces here.” She gave the man a little wink. “Can I have a rum on the rocks please?”

Noah had just finished his onslaught of refills as the girl approached the bar, taking a seat in front of where he was cleaning. The shifter offered a wide smile at her, but before he could speak up, the girl began speaking. She offered a compliment and a wink before asking for her drink. The shifter was actually fairly use to being hit on, drunk people tended to flirt a lot and people wanting to get drunk also tended to flirt a lot if they weren't dead silent. Every time he was about to open his mouth, the girl opened hers again, asking for her drink this time around. The bartender offered a small nod before he finally spoke up. "I need to see your ID first, ma'am." It wasn't until after he spoke up that he caught onto the smell. He missed it at first probably because of the heavy smell of cigarette smoke she carried on her clothes and body, especially since the other smell was also smoke, but more like a campfire than something else. Normally, that wouldn't really give him pause, he would just assume they'd been camping recently, or perhaps just had a wood-burning fireplace. But this seemed different, masking other smells that a human should have. His expression may have altered slightly as the idea of meeting another supernatural at work popped into his head. He'd spent so long without meeting anyone else who was different, why would they clump together all the sudden. Maybe it was that they're more abundant than he thought, and he just never noticed before. He had spent a long time thinking there weren't any others. Maybe he met them a lot and just didn't realize, giving strange scents and sounds benefit of the doubt, assuming it was just something different that was perfectly human. As that drifted into his head, he took a moment to examine the rest of the pub. How many people there could have been supernaturals? How many people on the street that he's passed? Should he start assuming that anyone who's smell was off was different? Or was he just eager to meet more, and assuming now that this girl was something different when she wasn't. He didn't really have proof that she was anything other than a girl who was near a campfire recently. He pulled himself out of his thoughts as he was presented with an ID. He grabbed it and quickly swiped it through a little card reader connected to an iPhone. The reader almost immediately gave a red X, saying the ID wasn't real. Frowning slightly, Noah swiped it again, getting the same result. He held the ID up, looking at it for a moment before handing it back to the girl, offering a small smile. If she was one of the different ones, it was worth the risk of getting in trouble if he got caught. He grabbed a glass, scooping up some ice and pouring it in, quickly followed by the rum. As he was pouring, he let himself tune into his hearing, trying to focus on the girl's heartbeat. If she were just lying, he'd probably be able to tell, and she'd probably get drunk pretty quick. If she were supernatural, it might sound different. Either way, he wanted to train his hearing in loud places, and a busy Saturday night at the Wandering Mule was a good place to do that. "So, how long has it been since you've been here?" The question passed through his lips as he handed the girl her drink. He hoped the manager was too busy working in the crowd to realize he'd just let someone who's card was denied stay, but he didn't let his anxiety show. Even though he was still listening to the girl's reply, he moved to the next patron, refilling a drink for him, looking back at the girl to offer a smile and let her know he was still listening.

Now that Sera had made it to the bar it was time to get her drink on. As much as she was interested in all the little changes that had occurred in her absence she didn't come all this way for small talk. She wanted to get hammered, no wanted was not accurate enough. She needed to get drunk for once. God forbid something happened to fuck that up for her. If one of Akhtar's cronies came in to stop her, or one of those shady PIDA bastards interrupted her good time there would be hell to pay. The last thing the Wandering Mule needed was another broken table, or chairs, or pool table...or broken bar. How many times she had gotten in shit for breaking something in one of her little bar fights she had lost count. It was a miracle that she had never been banned from the place yet. Everyone seemed to brush it under the rug over time since she always paid off the damages. Even the stuck up bartender Matt eventually gave up on yelling at her for her shit. Hopefully things would not get that crazy tonight. For once in her life she did not want to get in a fight. She just wanted to have a good time, catch up with the locals, and try to quietly sneak back into her room before anyone noticed. So far her plans were going a little south.
Sera was in for a little surprise when she made it up to the bar. Saturday nights were normally Matt's nights. She had been so used to see the grumpy yet soft hearted middle aged man working the counter on a night like this, but she didn't see him at all. Instead of Matt she came face to face with someone she didn't recognize. Sera looked the newcomer over for a minute while he was serving the other customers. This could be a bit of a problem for her first night back. New bartenders usually were a little pain in the butt, they were the ones that normally asked her for ID. She couldn't really blame them for it, Sera looked underage. She might look a little strange, what with looking like a damn albino with a funny dressing sense but she looked like a teenager. How could they possibly know that she was fifty years old? Technically speaking they were right to suspect she was underaged. Legally speaking in the human world she was an old woman, but amongst her kind she doubted she was. Solari aged slowly, she figured that out over time. When she lived in an orphanage she saw all the kids she had grown up with grow up so fast while she didn't change a bit. Most of those kids probably hit their thirties by the time she finally hit puberty.
It was a strange predicament but Sera didn't let the whole age business stop her from doing fun adult things when she wanted to. Hopefully this guy wasn't going to get in her way with that. The guy didn't look like he would be any trouble so far. He seemed friendly enough, cute too. She couldn't help but mess around with him a little bit, more so to see what kind of reaction she would get rather than hoping to seduce the bartender. Sera was not pretty enough to get affection from the opposite sex beyond the occasional pervy weirdos. It was too bad he didn't seem phased at her antics at all. What a shame, she wanted to play around with a shy guy tonight. Oh well. She got right down to business, not giving the man the chance to respond to her until she had a damn drink in her hand. Of course just as she expected the man uttered those annoying words. “Sure.” Sera said as she pulled her ID out without even flinching. She had been down this road too many times to be nervous about this. Like most of the supernaturals in town Sera's ID was fake. It had to be given her true age. Any supernatural worth half their salt had to get one and update their IDs frequently just to do common every day things in the city.
That last part might be a bit of an issue. Thanks to all the things that had happened to her she had yet to get newer IDs. There was a chance that things might not go the way she hoped they would, but she didn't let that bother her. If there was a problem she would deal with it, for now she did not want to sweat the small stuff. Sera watched the man as he checked her card, it took a little longer than she expected but he seemed satisfied with it enough to serve her. “Thank you~” the girl chimed when she got her beverage before taking a swig. Ahh~ that hit the spot, nothing like some good hard liquor to help one unwind. Now that she had what she wanted she was totally up for a conversation. “Man its been like... a month...maybe a bit more than that, I don't fucking know.” she replied. “Life got a little messed up so I couldn't come around here as often as I used to. Before all that mess I used to come by here at least once a week.” Hopefully things would change for the better soon. She certainly hoped so but she was starting to have her doubts that she was going to get any help with her problems. Akhtar had promised to help get the PIDA off her back but he was gone so damn often she doubted that he had even talked to them about the little mishap. It had been so long since she had gone into hiding that she just stopped caring about getting caught. If the PIDA wanted her they could come and fight her for all she cared...just...not tonight. “What about you? How long has it been you started working here?”

As some sort of commotion happened in the kitchen, Noah had to resist looking over. It was quiet enough that no one out here should have been able to hear it, even if it wasn't a busy Saturday night. He busied himself pouring another drink as he listened to the girl talk. She'd been here before, apparently. She didn't seem to be lying, at least. That didn't mean she was old enough to drink, but it was, at least, a point in that direction. He didn't get much of a chance to reply, as he was immediately set to making another couple of drinks for a particularly rowdy pair of men, filling the glasses up to the brim with beer, a little white foam spilling from the top as he handed the glasses back to them. As he wiped his hand off on his apron, he turned his attention back to the girl, just as she spoke up again. "I've worked here for a while, actually. Though, I was part-time for a long while, and I only started working the weekend shifts a little while ago." He offered the girl a light smile as he talked, leaning on the bar lightly, in front of her. His smile didn't fade as someone called out to him, asking for another refill, though he didn't really feel like smiling. He hated working the busy hours, but he needed to make enough money to keep his apartment, and this place got him a decent sum of money. Especially ever since he started taking the weekend shifts. As he looked back at the girl, he thought back to Blake. She'd been young too, and he had given her a fair amount of special attention. If someone were paying attention, they'd probably notice the starts of a pattern there, and that was a bad pattern to be caught in. Then again, he'd probably be able to shake it fairly easily. Just say he suspected they might be underage, and he was getting intel. Both were true, to a certain extent. Plus they were both particularly busy nights, and most patrons would have been too drunk to notice, most of his coworkers too busy. He pulled himself out of the random train of thought as he concentrated once more on the girl. She smelled a little bit off, the same way Blake had smelled of roses. Maybe it was too much perfume, but he felt like he should question it more. He had let smells like that come and go far too many times in the past, simply because he thought he was the only one. He'd been secluded from this world, and now that he knew, he needed to play catch-up. "I'm Noah, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you." His voice came out smooth, oddly calm despite the wide range of thoughts flowing in his head. He wanted nothing more than to out right ask this girl if she was different, but he knew that wouldn't end well. He'd have to hint that he knew, but that was hard to do when he knew so little about the world. And if he was wrong about her, he'd probably just come off as weird. Not that he particularly cared if she thought he was weird, but it'd probably be a lost customer and a smaller tip. Either way, he needed to know more about the girl if he was going to act, so for now, he was content to just let the conversation go where it would.

((Sorry for the long wait for this post, my Seramuse is not at its best right now x.x))
Sera was too busy drinking and getting to know the new bartender to notice the commotion going on in the kitchen. Whatever was going on was too quiet to hear. It wasn't like Seraphina had super hearing like some supernaturals did. She couldn't hear a pin drop a mile away, especially in such a crowded room. It kinda sucked really, while she had these amazing firepowers she didn't have a whole lot going for her next to that. Physically speaking she was as strong as the average sixteen year old human girl, perhaps a bit more so because she was more active and used to fighting than your every day spoiled teenager. She aged slower like most supernaturals she had met in the past, but did that make her immortal? She didn't know, there were a lot of things she didn't know about her own kind, or neat little perks that some supernaturals seemed to have. What she did have, beyond her fire powers, and her unusual appearance, was the ability to detect other supernaturals.
Sera didn't know if it was an ability all Solari had, or if it was just some unique sixth sense that she had, but she could always tell when there was a supernatural nearby. It wasn't the most accurate sense in the world. All it was was a little tingling sensation crawling along her skin when there was someone different around her general area. The closer she was to it the more noticeable the sensation was. Tonight it was going off. She hadn't noticed it at first when she first came into the bar, but now that she was chilling by the bar she could feel her skin tingling. There was a supernatural nearby. The discovery was nothing special of course. New Orlands had a higher than average supernatural population. You couldn't step two feet outside without bumping into one. Was it any surprise that there was one here?
Not really...but it was the only one she could detect in the room with her. That made it a little more interesting than it normally was. Sera didn't let her curiosity show as she talked to the new bartender. She smiled at the man when he started talking to her, she was genuinely interested in what he had to say. “Then I must have poor timing, if I haven't seen you till today.” she chuckled. Where was the supernatural? They were close by, close enough that they must be at the same bar with her. Her sixth sense wasn't so accurate that she could tell where it was coming from with so many people so close to her like this. Tonight was a busy night, so a lot of people were coming to the bar to order their drinks and grab a seat. Most of the people that came to the bar didn't stay too long, if the supernatural was amongst them the sensation she was feeling would start to fade a little as they left. But it remained unchanged. If it wasn't one of the customers then that would mean....
Sera gave the new bartender another look as he went about his business. With how close he was to her, and the consistency of her senses it wasn't a crazy thought to think he was the one she was picking up on. He didn't look like he was another supernatural though. He didn't have any unique physical features that singled him out, he was short for a guy but that didn't mean anything. His actions and general behavior didn't seem out of the ordinary either, ruling out the chance that he was some animal type if anything. She could be wrong about this one, but it was worth double checking just to be certain. “I bet you are loving the weekend shifts right now.” Sera chuckled, “Juggling around so many orders coming at you at once must be fun isn't it?” she smiled again when the bartender introduced himself. “The name's Seraphina, but everyone calls me Sera for short.” she replied, “Nice to meet you.” she offered her hand out to shake. If Sera's gut was right she would definitely feel something the moment he shook her hand. Hopefully he would.
