Within the dark maze that was the alleyways of New Orlands a cat was on the prowl. It was one of those rare days that the little feline shifter felt the urge to hunt. With the way he lived now, with a steady 'job' and a roof over his head hunting down mice and rats wasn't necessary anymore. He didn't need to do it to survive. But that didn't mean that he wouldn't have the urge to do it every once in awhile. Loki was after all a cat at heart, and like any cat he loved to hunt. So when the urge struck him the young boy took to the alleys, turned into his animal form and started stalking. Loki knew better than anyone just how dangerous these alleys could be. There were always shady humans and dangerous supernaturals that loved to hide within it, waiting for their next victim to walk by. He might have been worried about that much if it wasn't in the middle of the day. While the alleys were still dark and secluded during this time of day, most of the more dangerous people normally showed up sometime after dark. The chances of anyone coming to trouble him was rare, even rarer while he was a cat. Most humans wouldn't think twice about harassing a harmless cat, and unless another supernatural took a good whiff of his scent they wouldn't see him for what he really was.
Today he would be safe to do as he pleased, which meant a lot to the boy who was so prong to getting into trouble. All his troubles seemed to melt away from his mind once he went on the prowl. In this moment he didn't have to worry about danger. He wasn't the prey. Today he was the predator and this was his hunting ground. All he needed to do was find his prey. But where was it? Rats and mice weren't too hard to find in cities. Rodents have always been a part of human civilization ever since man started to live together in mass. Humans whether they knew it or not provided plenty of food and shelter these little creatures they considered to be pest. They could always be found in places with a lot of food and very little care. Dark alleys happened to be one of them. But it still took awhile for the little shifter to find any. He had to walk around a little to find their feeding ground.
There were a ton of mice here, but only one of them really caught his eye. A nice fat juicy looking brown one. It would make the perfect snack, and it happened to be the closest one to where he was hiding. Loki kept his gaze locked onto his prey as he crept up to it on silent paws. This was it, he just needed to get a little closer, get in position and pounce! The poor little mouse did not know what hit it before Loki jumped on it and snapped its little neck with his razor sharp fangs. The rest of the mice scattered off in fright when he hit his target but he couldn't care less about them. He got what he wanted and he was damn proud of it. Loki purred in triumph over his latest kill. God it had been so long since he had been hunting but his skills didn't die. He still had it. To make matters even better this mouse was one of the biggest that he had ever caught in awhile too. Too bad he didn't have anyone to show it off to. Oh well, it wasn't like he couldn't enjoy it now. While the mouse certainly would make a good meal Loki didn't want to eat it just yet. He was in such a good mood that he wanted to play around with it. The little cat pawed and pounced on the mouse a little more. There was no shame in playing with his food, he was in a good mood and the mouse was already dead so what he was doing was not cruel in his book.

The streets were strangely secluded for the Uptown Shopping District, especially since it was still daytime. Aviela looked around and noticed that no one was around so she shrugged off her hoodie, showing off a tank top that revealed her wing scars. The girl sighed with relief as she walked down the street. Avi reached in her bag and pulled out a pack of cigarettes removing one stick with her lips, not bothering to even light it. She had stayed stuck in her car for a couple days now and she needed to get an apartment. Avi wanted to do a little shopping beforehand, get out a little, maybe have some fun.
She finally spotted a dark alley ahead and she moved to it. She turned the corner and stopped when she noticed a little cat hunting. Aviela was careful to stay quiet so she wouldn't disturb him or his lunch. She smiled at the prowling cat and watched as it pounced on its meal. Mice seemed to run everywhere, he must have found a good hunting spot. The cat didn't seem to want to eat it just yet, he toyed with it which made Aviela giggle a little. The fallen angel hoped the cat didn't hear her, she was enjoying the little show.
Aviela knelt down and held out her hand to the cat, hoping it wouldn't run off when it saw her. She had always been an animal lover she just never had the time to care for one, or a place since Azazel and her had broken up. The girl thought to herself for a moment, maybe what she needed was a pet, she was alone anyways. She had no boyfriend, no friends, not even an enemy. “Pathetic.” She mumbled under her breath, Aviela looked back up towards the cat and waited, she really did need a friend.

A loud purr rose out of the little cat as he played around with the dead mouse. He couldn't help but purr, he was rather pleased with himself. He was having a lot of fun hunting. His first catch of the day was pretty good too. There was just something so satisfying about taking down a big kill that got the shifter so excited. This kill was something that was worthy of showing off. Too bad he had no one to show it off to. He didn't have any other feline that he could go off bragging to, and Azazel had been gone from home for a few days for business reasons, there was no telling when the fallen angel would return. He had no one to show off his prize. It was a shame, but he wasn't going to let that bring down his good mood. He didn't need to show off his kills to feel proud of them, even if he was a bit of a braggart. He still had a lot of energy to burn off too, so he did what any other cat would do in his position. He played with his food. He might not be a little kitten anymore but he was still young enough to get a pass with being a little immature sometimes right?
Loki pounced and pawed at his prey when he heard something. Giggling. Loki looked up ahead, his ears pricked forward to the sound he had heard. There was a human nearby, judging from the sound of the voice it had to be a female. The sound of her voice put the shifter on alert but it didn't worry him too much. Humans were only dangerous to him if they knew what he was. In his animal form most were not too threatening. He had to worry about the occasional asshole human, normally a group of male children, who might throw things at him just for kicks, but most of them would simply stare, or try to pet him. That was normally the case with human females. Women seemed to love cats. He wasn't worried in the least when he saw the female approach him, he even gave her a friendly mew when she approached.
The shifter stood his ground, keeping one paw over his kill just in case as she leaned down and offered her hand. Loki took in her scent, a familiar smell wafted through his nose. Angel. There was no doubt about it. This female might look like a human, a very pretty human, she was definitely not one. Interesting...there were not a lot of angels in this city. The only angel Loki had ever met was Azazel. There was another angel that might live in this city to his knowledge, a female angel...was this angel the same girl his friend was looking for? It was worth finding out. Loki rubbed his head against the woman's hand as he continued to purr, inviting the girl to pet him if she wished. He might not be a house cat but he was willing to act like one if it meant he could spend a little time with the woman to find out who she really was. The feline's ears twitched when he heard her mumble to herself. “I hope that wasn't directed at me.” he mewed. The words would likely not register in the angel's ears as anything other than meowing. When he spoke feline, beyond the odd supernatural creature, and other animals could understand what he was saying. “Would a pathetic cat be such an efficient hunter?” the cat picked up the dead mouse in his jaws to show off to the woman to prove his point. At least now he had someone that he could show off his kill to.

Aviela enjoyed watching the little cat until she saw it noticed her. She softly walked to where the cat was, trying not to spook off the little feline. She held back a squeal as the cat meowed at her. She watched as the cat sniffed her hand and lightly rubbed his head when he offered it to her. This cat seemed different from any other the girl had been around, something was very different but she couldn't think of what. The cat meowed at her and Aviela smiled rubbing the cat more. She thought she heard something more than a meow but once again she couldn't put her finger on it.
The girl stood up and leaned against the wall, pulling a cigarette out of her pocket and lighting it up. The cat picked up his prey to show it to the angel and the girl smiled at him. "If I had an apartment, I would take you home. Its too bad that I left this place, it’s so lovely.” She paused and took a long drag off her cigarette. “Maybe if Azazel and I had worked out…” The girl pushed her thought away along with the smoke in her mouth. Avi leaned down to the cat again and scratched his head. The thought went back into her head, “Maybe I could call out to him like last time…” Aviela just shook her head and paid attention to the cat.
Avi couldn't stay in the alleyway forever so she decided to continue her walk, if the cat followed then maybe they were meant to be companions. The angel finished up her cigarette and threw it at the wall in front of her. She patted the cat one more time and got up to walk out of the alley. “See ya, little guy.” Aviela secretly hoped that the cat would follow her, or at least keep her company.

When he saw the lone female coming towards him he knew that he wasn't in any danger. Most humans tended to be harmless when it came to dealing with stray animals. Perhaps it was because they saw cats and dogs as friendly animals that they didn't treat them like they were dangerous or annoying pests. Women were the more gentle of their species. They were the ones that usually just watched him with adoring eyes, some of them would even approach him to pet him and give him treats. He still had to be cautious of humans though, for every one that wanted to pick him up and cuddle him there were always those that meant him harm. From humans that liked to abuse animals for a cheap thrill, to animal control who wanted nothing more to throw him in a cage he had to be careful. This woman didn't seem the type though so he didn't run when she approached him. When he caught her angelic scent he was curious enough to play the roll of friendly kitten. A pretty female angel hanging around in New Orlands was rare.
Could this be the mysterious Aviela? He would be a fool to dismiss that possibility. As far as he knew there were only two angels that lived in this city. He was living with one already, and the other had vanished. Azazel had no idea what happened to Aviela after their last encounter but he had never given up hope that she could still be in the city. If Aviela was alive, and did want to see Azazel again she would definitely be here. This could be her, but he needed to find out more about the girl in front of him first before he ran off to tell Az. For now he would have to act like a friendly cat. He did his usual routine, giving the girl a little sniff first before demanding pets. Anyone that knew him might have scoffed at him in this instance. The feline always acted like he hated being pet like he was some common domesticated feline but for the sake of keeping his identity a secret, or at the very least the promise of food when he used to live on the streets he would swallow his pride for awhile. For a guy who claimed to hate being pet he sure did enjoy it. Within seconds a genuine purr rose out of the tiny feline.
The angel seemed pleased by him, even when he showed off his prized catch of the day. He continued to purr when she spoke of wanting to adopt him. If only she knew that he already had technically been adopted by someone else. The way she said that though caught his attention. If I had an apartment I would take you home... Did that mean she didn't have a home? Judging by her appearance she didn't seem like she was homeless. If she didn't have a place to stay that could mean this homeless situation was either recent, or she had a better place to live for now than just the streets like he had in the past. What she said next though definitely caught his interest. He had been waiting for some kind of clue to link this mysterious woman to Azazel's former lover but he never expected to get it so quickly.
It really was her...she was really Aviela! For a moment Loki was too shocked to think about what to do next. All he could do was look up at her in surprise till she started walking away. Finally he shook himself out of his stupor. There was no way in hell that he was just going to let her wander off after this. Loki quickly gobbled down his kill (he refused to just leave it) and quickly followed Aviela down the alley. He was tempted to reveal himself but he decided against it. If Aviela was in the city, but had not tried to get into contact with Azazel yet there could be a very good reason for it. He wanted to find out that reason first before he tried getting the two to meet face to face. If he had a good chance of learning more while pretending to be a normal cat he would play his part as long as it took to get it.
