There it was, Loki's target. The little feline shifter leaned against the tree he was hiding behind as he watched the rabbit munching away on the local foliage of the forest without a care in the world. Despite the sun quickly setting in the sky Loki's prey didn't seem the slightest bit worried. Rabbits were not very nocturnal from what Loki could tell. He had seen plenty of them around the day time when he came into the forest for his usual training but most of them would be heading to their dens right about now. After all night time was dangerous for their kind. There were plenty of night time predators that would love to sink their fangs into a juicy rabbit. Whether this particular rabbit was confident that it was in a safe area, stupid, or just so hungry that it was willing to risk its life for a bit of food Loki didn't know, all he knew was that he had the perfect opportunity with this one. The boy drew out a single knife as he watched the creature go about its business.
This one would be easy pickings for someone like him. Loki was a pretty good hunter. He was great at sneaking up behind his prey and pouncing on them when they least expected it. He had practiced well enough throwing knives that he could easily kill the rabbit now before it figured out he was here. That was how a wild cat hunted. But that wasn't what he had planned to do today. If he really wanted to test his skills he needed the damn thing to move. Loki took a step out of his hiding spot, purposely stepping on a nearby twig to reveal his presence. The moment that the rabbit heard the twig snapped it bolted. The little critter was quick, but so was Loki. When it took off Loki followed suit. Before the rabbit could get too far he threw his knife, a small smile crept on his features when he saw the blade embed itself in the smaller creature's leg. One... he thought as he drew out a second knife, making a mental note of how many blades he would be wasting on this single creature. He wasn't done yet after all.
Though the rabbit was injured that didn't mean it was going to give up, the creature still tried to make a run for it, just as it tried to turn to escape in the foliage Loki saw an opportunity. Two... the second strike landed int the rabbit's skull, killing it instantly. With a triumphant grin on his face Loki walked up and bent down beside his kill. “Two blades used for one successful kill. Not bad.” He was definitely improving. A few weeks ago he wouldn't have been able to hit a lazy pigeon if he tried. But after main failed attempts to practice throwing knives at moving targets he was seeing great improvements. As he was now Loki was confident enough to make use of his knife throwing skills in real combat. If he could kill a running rabbit he could definitely hit anyone that tried to come after him. It would be a shame if he had to actually use those skills in a fight though.
Loki didn't want to have to go as far as killing someone just to protect himself, but it was comforting to know that he could if the time came to use it though. Loki pulled the blades out of the rabbit's corpse, cleaning the weapons on the dead animal's corpse before picking the thing up by the ears. Just because he was finished with the thing didn't mean that he was going to let a perfectly good kill go to waste. He had never had rabbit before, was it any good? How would he prepare it? Roasting it would be a good option. With the right kind of herbs and spices it could taste pretty good. It might make a good stew too. Maybe he could look up some recipes when he got back home. Humans had recipes for practically everything there had to be at least one or two recipes for cooking rabbits. “I wonder if Azazel likes rabbit.” he pondered. Either ways he was going to find out soon once he started heading home. It was probably best for him to go home now anyways. Though he would love to spend a little more time practicing it was getting late, he needed to get back home before he got into trouble with some of the more nocturnal residents in the woods.

This day would prove to be an interesting one. Guillotine, being the hound that he was, wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to take a stroll through the woods. Jesse had gone to work and, after his latest incident, Gil would have had to stay home for a few days. This wouldn’t have been so bad if he wasn’t on heat lamp duty. The beast was made to sit there, under that damn lamp for at least a few hours a day. He’d already been feeling better but of course his roommate didn’t want to take any chances with him. Guillotine had complied with Jesse’s demands for the most part. The heat lamp was nice and he didn’t mind a nice heat bathing session. However, this routine grew boring so the beast decided that, despite his roommate’s wishes, he would venture out into the world to quell his boredom.
Nothing could beat the sun’s natural rays after all. Guillotine had a particular spot in mind when he left the house. The hellhound would make his way to the forest and relax in the grassy field that sat near the treeline. Once out of the city and into the country side of town the best shifted into his hellhound form and trotted around the outside of the forest. Once he crept up on a nice spot to relax he plopped down, only to lift his head up.
The sweet smell of blood wafted into Guillotine’s sensitive nose. The beast’s ears twitched and his pupils dilated. He ppered into the woods, licking his lips. He could not mistake that smell for anything else. Something in the forest was bleeding out, and he wished to investigate. Guillotine’s large paws pushed his body back up. With a wag of his boney tail the large canine trotted on into the woods, he allowed his nose to lead the way. Upon stepping foot into the wood his nose had picked up on something else. This scent was also unmistakable. Loki… The hellhound stopped in his tracks once he realized who the owner of this smell was. Was Loki out here hunting? Perhaps the smaller male had gotten into some trouble and was bleeding out? Apart of Gil, his more wicked side, would have loved to see the latter of the two.
With curiosity nipping at his head the hellhound continued on his trek. It would not take long for him to run up on Loki. Thankfully, the male couldn’t quite recall all of what had went down during their last meeting, or else he wouldn’t have been so keen on seeking the smaller male out. After all, during his little hallucination Guillotine did kiss him.
With his head down low the large beast silently stalked behind Loki. Getting closer, he began to realize what the smell had been coming from. The little male had caught himself a rabbit. How cute. Slipping through the underbrush like a silent killer Gil continued to stalk behind the shifter. One paw after the other he got a little bit close. The hell beast was contemplating on taking the male out before shaking the thought from his thick skull. Not today. Guillotine grumbled before he lifted his head. He then gave Loki a loud snort. “Well, if it isn’t little Loki.” The hellhound replied with a dark chuckle. Guillotine’s blood red eyes glanced down at Loki’s prize. Licking his lips he cooed, “Sharing is caring ya’ know.” Perhaps instead of having cat for dinner he could have rabbit?

Loki had to admit he was doing pretty well as a knife wielder. His training with Azazel was helping him to get better in terms of using a blade in close combat, but even his knife throwing skills were drastically improving too. He might not be so skilled that he could kill a rabbit in a single throw but being able to do so in two was nothing to sneeze at. Rabbits were fairly small and fast on their feet which made them perfect targets for practicing on. If he could kill them easily then he could definitely hit a much bigger and deadlier opponent in a fight. An image of Guillotine entered his mind the second he thought about that. Gil...how long had it been since the last time they had me? A few days? Their last encounter had been too recent to forget about, and god how he wanted to forget about it. Meeting Gil was always bad news for Loki. There had never been a single encounter with the damn hellhound that didn't end badly for him. But this last encounter had turned out badly in a different way. He didn't know what he was more afraid of when it came to dealing with Guillotine.
Most of the time Gil was usually out for his blood. It was frightening having to fight against such a fearsome enemy, but it was something that Loki was used to by now. There were plenty of people in this world that would want someone like him dead. He was no stranger to death threats, he came to expect it from Gil. At least he had prepared himself more for the day Gil would come to kill him. That was what all this training was for. But being kissed by him was not something he ever saw coming. Just thinking about that kiss made his stomach turn. That had to be the most embarrassing moment in his life. It wasn't bad enough that he had been forced to lock lips with another male, who up until this point wanted to tear him to shreds, but it had been his first kiss too. That was what got him the most. Loki wasn't nearly as prideful as someone with his former standing should be but he had some pride in him. All of that pride died with him that day and it was all thanks to Gil.
Loki forced those bad thoughts out of his head to focus on what he would do now. He didn't need to think of Gil right now. There was nothing that he could do to change the past so why think about it? Guillotine wasn't here. Unless the gods and the god of this world were feeling particularly spiteful tonight he wouldn't run into Gil now. For now he was free to think about what to do with this rabbit. It was easy to lose himself on thoughts of dinner. This was the first time he would ever have rabbit for all he knew this would be the first time that Azazel would have some too. Would his angel friend like it? He hoped so. All he needed to do was take it back and find a good recipe for rabbit dishes online. If he couldn't find anything he could come up with something. Stews were not too hard to make. He could just skin it, chop it up and put it in a pot of broth and veggies. All he needed to do now was get home and see what he could do.
The little shifter was about to head off when he felt something strange. He didn't hear anything. That might not have been strange to most people. To the untrained ear the forest was always pretty quiet, but like any other creature Loki could hear all the usual signs of wildlife. But right now he didn't. That still wasn't too unusual considering he had made enough commotion to startle most of the local wildlife away before he chased down his kill. Yet that feeling of danger wafted through the air. Maybe he was being paranoid, he was still on edge thanks to recent events so he could be just imagining things. But Loki wasn't going to take chances here. Whether he was imagining things or not he wasn't going to ignore his instincts. Loki dropped the dead rabbit as he pulled out a throwing knife and turned around. He was about to let the weapon loose at whatever might be behind him when his stalker spoke.
“Gil?” Loki's eyes grew wide with shock when he set his sights on the large scaly beast before him. Someone out there really did hate his guts. It had only been a few days since he had last seen Guillotine, it was far too soon for him to deal with him after what had happened. Yet here he was, standing before the last person he ever wanted to see again. The feline instinctively stepped back, clutching tightly on his blade as he watched the hellhound come towards him. What did Gil want with him now? He didn't know. Loki couldn't even bring himself to try and cover his nervousness. By now he would have at least tried to act relaxed and cocky, maybe tease Gil a little bit by pointing out how much of a stalker he was but he couldn't muster up the courage to do it. He was too paranoid about what Gil was doing here for him to put his mask on. Thankfully Gil didn't seem all that interested in him, his beady red eyes had fallen to the rabbit that he had killed. This was his chance to make an escape.
Loki bent back down to pick the kill up. It was a shame that he wouldn't be able to bring something back with him tonight but relinquishing his catch so he could get away from Gil now was a small price to pay than what could happen if he refused. “Here. Just take it.” the boy said as he tossed the dead rabbit at Gil's feet before turning to walk away. Gil was a simple enough creature that he would take more of an interest in the food presented immediately before him for the boy to just walk away now. He didn't like having to turn his back on a man he had no clue what he planned to do with him but he would have to risk it. At least he was well armed enough to protect himself if Gil got too close.

Loki was the last person Guillotine expected to run into on this fine evening. The male had come out to relax and soak up some rays, not get into another altercation with this smaller shifter. Guillotine released a low huff as he exhaled. He was oblivious to Loki’s internal woes. The smaller man did look surprised to see him however. Suppose Guillotine shouldn’t have been too terribly surprised. After all, the two had made it almost a tradition to run into one another at the worst of times. Today would be no exception.
Oh Guillotine could smell Loki’s emotions just wafting off him. The shifter wasn’t too happy to see him. Hell, he even seemed nervous. Guillotine shifted his weight a bit on his paws and continued to look at Loki but soon his gaze moved down to his kill. Suppose he shouldn’t worry about the boy so much, not when there was food around. The male then watched as Loki tossed the small rabbit towards his paws and told him to have it. Now, this struck the hound as odd. Wasn’t Loki going to talk back to him, or give him a smart ass remark? None of that came from the male’s mouth. Instead, Loki told Gil he could have it. Guillotine’s head tilted slightly to the side like a confused pup. Was Loki being for real? It appeared so, as the shifter started to walk away.
Sure, Gil wanted Loki’s kill, but seeing the male in this state would prompt his curiosity. The hellhound lowered his head and lifted the rabbit up into his maw. He then trotted off and began to walk at Loki’s side, with the rabbit still hanging in his jaws. He would not eat it, not yet anyway. Tilting his head, he looked up at Loki. He looked the male in his eye before saying, “That was too easy, Runt.” The male said as he continued to pad along at Loki’s side. “Aren’t you going to say something...smart assy? Don't you wanna call me a thieving mutt?” The male said playfully with a wag of his boney tail. Now he was just messing with Loki, but he really wanted to know what was up. “What’s eatin’ ya kid? Well, I mean other than me.” He said with a low chuckle. It appeared that Gil was rather curious as to what was going on with Loki. Did the male feel bad that he lived or perhaps there was something else on his mind?

Why did he always have to run into Gil at the worst possible times? From the time that these two had met Loki always dreaded having to have any further encounters with the damn hellhound. He tried his best not to get involved with this guy. Yet he always seemed to run into him. It shouldn't have came as a huge surprise to find Gil here. The hellhound did live in the same city as Loki did. Judging by his personality Gil was too confident and stupid to even try to be weary about wandering in Azazel's territory, which Loki happened to live in, combine the fact that the forest was a good hunting ground for bigger game which Gil no doubt loved to hunt it wasn't a big surprise to see him here. All the same it still caught the little shifter off guard and made him nervous. He would be a fool not to be at least cautious around Guillotine but his behavior around the hellhound was strange. Loki mentally kicked himself for the way he was acting towards Gil. The boy was usually pretty good about keeping his emotions in check when it came to bad things. He was pretty good at smiling to cover up sadness, anger, or fear.
But he couldn't do it this time. What had happened between them in their last encounter was too fresh in his mind and he just couldn't shake it off enough to pretend that he was not disturbed by the bigger male's presence. Gil wasn't going through the same awkwardness that Loki was feeling it seemed. He was just as arrogant and cocky as always. Loki was actually grateful when Gil turned his attention to his kill, it gave him an excuse to make his escape while avoiding further trouble. Loki had learned his lesson this time. If he didn't want a fight trying to reason or smooth talk his way around Guillotine would give him nothing but trouble. If he wanted to keep his sanity and his pride he needed to leave, and fast. Loki threw the dead rabbit at Gil's feet then turned around to leave. Surely Gil would find the fresh kill more interesting than him and leave the poor cat alone right?
Wrong.
He should have known better that Guillotine would not be satisfied with the rabbit alone and would come to pester him. Loki noticeably tensed when he heard the hellhound trodding on up to walk along side him. The bastard had Loki's kill in his jaws and proceeded to taunt him on how easily he had given it up. Loki didn't respond for a moment, he just put his hands in his pockets, his fingers lightly brushing against his hidden switchblade as he kept looking forward to avoid Gil's gaze. He wouldn't attack Gil if he didn't need to but he had no illusions that he might need to protect himself at some point tonight from the canine. It was only a question about what kind of attack he might be trying to defend himself from that worried him now. “What's wrong? Are you disappointed?” the boy replied. “I am not going to get worked up over such a small loss. Its just a rabbit, they are easy enough to find and even easier to catch. I can live a day without it, if I really need to I can always get another one.” It wasn't too late to play things off coolly despite his massive failure to do so earlier. For a moment he was tempted to say why he bagged that rabbit in the first place but decided against it. While saying that he was sharpening his skills for future use a certain someone might be a good way to warn the damn hellhound off, it would shatter any chance of him catching Gil off guard with it in a real battle. The element of surprise was something that Loki used quite often to his advantage in dangerous situations and he didn't want to lose it. So he kept quiet on that.
Great, Guillotine wasn't completely blind that he didn't notice his strange behavior. Loki rolled his eyes as the hellhound continued to speak. “Why should I? So you can try to make a comeback with one of your own stupid smart ass remarks until I back you up in a verbal corner and you have no other response other than death threats? No thanks, I have had my fill dealing with you for a lifetime. There is only so much trash talking that I can dole out before it gets boring. It might be a hard thing for you to understand, but for those of us who are not natural born assholes, but not all of us like acting like jerks all the time.” the boy snorted when Gil asked him why he wasn't calling him a thief. “I can hardly call you a thief when you didn't steal anything from me. I gave that rabbit to you so you will leave me alone. Which I see was pointless. I doubt you could steal anything from anyone anyway. Stealing takes a certain finesse that you lack. You are more the type who would rather beat up someone to get something you want.”
Loki came to a stop when Gil asked him his last question. He really did not want to deal with this right now. All he had wanted was some time to forget what had happened that night and move on with his life, or at the very least he wanted to have some time to think about how he should deal with what had happened that day before he had to confront Gil about it. But he had been denied that chance. That fact made him feel all sorts of emotions, but the one that stuck out the most was anger. That spark could easily be seen in the way he looked the hellhound down when he finally met the other male's gaze. “That's the thing. You are the only thing bothering me.” the boy replied coldly. “What's up with you Gil? Why do you insist on bothering me?” Loki took a step forward as he stared down the hellhound. His anger was finally making him brave enough to face Gil. He still wasn't sure how he wanted to deal with this issue between them, but if he couldn't have the chance to think about his approach then he would just go with the flow.
“Its pretty obvious that you aren't interested in my kill. If you were you'd have left me alone and eaten the damn thing already. I know you aren't here to kill me yet, you would have tried to attack me earlier when my back was turned. I am having a hard time trying to understand why you are approaching me again after what happened next time. I know you were losing your mind towards the end last time, but you couldn't have forgotten all of it. You were at least some what sane when you were holding onto me for warmth. I would think that you would feel at least somewhat embarrassed about that enough to at least consider avoiding me for now on...unless you secretly enjoyed it. I know I didn't. What I want to do right now is to forget that it even happened and you trotting on along side me is not helping with that. So do me a favor, for once in your life and leave me alone.”

It was like Guillotine to stick his wet nose into places where it didn’t quite belong. Today would yield no new results. The hellhound was as nosey as ever. Gil watched Loki intently. There was definitely something wrong with him. Loki wasn’t acting quite like his usual, annoying, self. This intrigued the young hellhound, so much so that he would start to pester Loki. As he walked along the small male’s side Gil couldn’t help but to take in the feline’s body language. From what the hellhound could pick up, Loki was really uneasy. Which shouldn't have come as a surprise given their past experiences with one another. However, Gil doubted this was the route of the problem. Loki had faced him time and time again, and had never acted like this. No, something was afoot.
Suppose it was hard for Gil not to ask so many questions when his company was acting so strange. The scaley canine continued to hold the fluffy little rabbit in his jaws as he questioned Loki (more like interrogating him.). At first Loki asked Guillotine if he were disappointed. The large beast shook his scaly head. Gil was far from being upset. He was getting a meal and a bit of entertainment out of this little meet up, what more could he possibly ask for? After what had happened during their last meeting the hound had gotten a bit less weary of the feline. What Loki had said was true. The feline did care, to an extent. Loki had a good heart, that much Gil could tell. He wasn’t going to kill Gil all willy-nilly. However, Gil wasn’t going to put it past the smaller male to call Azazel for backup when things got to tough. Though, little did Gil know Loki had a few new tricks up his sleeve.
Loki went on to explain that he wasn’t going to get bent out of shape over a rabbit. Stifling a laugh Gil took a step forward. “Oh, Is that so?” The large canine was just trying to get under Loki’s skin now. He wanted to tear the male down mentally and see what made him tick. Perhaps this was the only way to find out what was wrong with him? Guillotine was sure pushing Loki over the edge was just what he needed to do to get the proper words out of him. Gil had thrown yet another question at his company. Standing there, Gil watched as he rolled his eyes at him, now there was the Loki he knew. When the male spoke it left the hellhound speechless. He wasn’t sure how to combat that, at least not without spewing some death threats (as Loki had predicted). “Right, we’ll see just how far your “finesse” gets you when your scrawny little body is in my jaws.”
As Loki came to a stop Gil did the same. He continued to stay at the young shifter’s side. When Loki questioned Guillotine once more the hound let out a loud grumble. The shifter wished to know why Gil was bothering him, well the hound was going to tell him flat out. Gil’s beady blood red eyes met Loki’s gaze. “Something doesn't quite smell right here, Loki. You are acting strange.” Loki took a step forward, as he did so Gil followed suite. Guillotine wasn’t going to give Loki any breathing space. If he had to, he’d pressure the male into tell him what he wanted to hear. Soon enough, he got a good ear full of what Loki had to say. Needless to say, Gil wasn’t too terribly happy. “S-Secretly enjoined it? Are you fucking kidding me!?” The hellhound’s ears pulled back against his skull. A muffled growl crept past his stuffed maw. “I did not enjoy having to hold your scrawny little ass for warmth okay!” Guillotine thought for a moment, what else happened that night? He could barely remember, everything was a blur to him. Did something else happen? Maybe Loki was just bent out of shape over helping him? Gil snorted and cocked his head to the side as he peered up at his company, “Am I missing something here?”

It looked like no matter what Loki did he could not shake Guillotine off. Despite the younger male's best efforts to get away from Gil, the hellhound still insisted on bothering him. Loki didn't know what to do. He had given up his kill to the damn bastard to entice him away, but instead of trotting off with his new prize Gil decided to tag along just to rub it in his face. Or at least he hoped it was just to rub it in his face. Ever since that horrible night Loki didn't know just where he and Gil stood anymore. Things had always been a little confusing between the two. They didn't meet on the best of terms, and thanks to Loki's bond with Azazel he and Gil were naturally meant to be enemies. But their shared relationship with Blake made the mortal enemies bit harder to fall into. If Loki allowed himself to get mad enough to kill Gil, or simply killed him out of self defense he would hurt the only female friend he had so far. Who was he kidding. Even before everything with Blake he didn't want to kill Gil. He had made a few excuses to trick others, even himself to some degree on why he didn't want to do it. First he was too weak to do it on his own, back then he stopped Azazel from killing Gil, claiming to his fallen angel friend that the hound might still have some use to them, to Gil and himself he claimed he only did so to save Azazel from turning into a monster. Right now he was using Blake's feelings as an excuse to keep himself from going too far. But deep down he didn't want to do it because he couldn't stop picturing Amalia's lifeless body every time he saw anyone close to death around him. Those thoughts made it difficult to continue this feud between them.
There was nothing that he could do that would make this better for them. He had already tried to be the bigger man between the two and tried to make a truce, but Gil rejected that. Gil had made it clear in the past that he wanted nothing more than to torture Loki and kill him if given half the chance, even with Blake in the picture. In the past it was easy for Loki to see where they stood. Loki might not want to kill Gil, but Gil certainly wanted to kill him. But somewhere down the line that feeling must've changed. At first Loki thought Gil might just be considering the consequences for once for trying to take his life. Gil might be an idiot, but he wasn't so mindless that he couldn't see what shedding Loki's blood would do to him. Azazel would hunt him down for that, he would torture the foolish hellhound before he gleefully took his pathetic life. Blake, depending on what she still felt for the little shifter might have a hard time forgiving Gil for his murder. But if that was the case, if Gil was only holding back because of what could happen then why was he still here with him now?
Something had changed but Loki didn't know what. The events of their last encounter was not helping put him at ease about this change. In a way they only made things worse. If Gil still remembered that night as clear as Loki did and felt no shame from it then there could be something brewing that Loki didn't want any part of. Was he just over thinking it? Probably. The fact that Gil actually kissed him was shocking enough but he just couldn't wrap his mind around there being anything there as a result. They were both guys after all, guys couldn't develop feelings for one another. Loki felt nothing but disgust over this. But Gil didn't. Did Gil feel the same way? Loki tried to push those thoughts out of his mind as he moved forward, but with Gil being so close by it was hard for him to focus on anything else. He really wanted Gil to just go away and leave him be, but Gil, being the stubborn asshole that he was, would not give him that.
Annoyance quickly overpowered his nervousness the more Gil began to pester him. At least the constant badgering brought back a bit of his old self with the hellhound. It didn't take Loki long to start giving the hellhound attitude. Gil wanted smart ass Loki? Well he would get it! It wasn't enough to throw the damn hound's suspicions about him. It was too late to play things off like usual. That didn't stop Loki from trying. Loki gave the hellhound a mischievous grin when he started going on about putting the boy in his place. “And here comes the death threats. Just as predicted.” the shifter laughed. “You poor, sad, fool. You just have one arrow in your quiver so you can't help but use it. No matter how useless that arrow is. Your threats mean nothing to me anymore Gil. If you want to kill me then go right ahead and try. You know very well by this point what will happen if you manage to succeed. The only issue now is if you can even pull it off this time around. You haven't changed all that much from the last time you came after me but I did. My 'finesse' back then was good enough to keep me out of your jaws back then. Now that improved upon my skills its going to be a lot harder to get me this time.”
It was true. Loki was not as afraid of Gil's threats anymore. He expected Gil to try and kill him, and as such he was more than prepared to deal with him when the time came. It was the possibility that Gil might try doing something else to him other than outright murder that worried him now. It was the reason he was so on edge with the hellhound now. He needed to get over that, or at least figure out what exactly he had to worry about when it came to Gil now. For that he needed to get away. But Gil was not done yet. He was far from being done with him. The damn bastard was still following him around. The hellhound's persistence was annoying at first but soon enough it turned from annoying to enraging. It made Loki stop what he was doing to turn and glare at the stupid demonic mutt. It was down right amazing that he could be so bold with Gil as things were now. Perhaps it helped that Gil was still in his true form. Beast Gil was easier to read, he was simple minded and blood thirsty. Loki didn't have to worry about being pulled in, or have him do anything other than try to rip him to shreds. He still had to worry about death, but the threat of death was something he was used to dealing with. It made it easier for him to confront the bigger male now. Why was Gil bothering him? That was what Loki wanted to know. Gil was quick to answer that, but his answer only seemed to bother the shifter more. “Acting strange? Of course I would be acting strange to you after what happened last time!” he hissed back. “Do you not understand how fricken awkward it is to have to deal with you again after all of that? I would think you of all people would feel the same way too...unless you secretly liked cuddling up with me?”
If only Gil had left it at cuddling. It was still pretty awkward but cuddling was something he could deal with. He was to some degree used to being held, or coddled, he even enjoyed being pet though he would never openly admit it. He might had been able to tease Gil about that night if that was all that happened. It was amazing that Gil didn't seem to think the same way. Though the moment that he laid out that accusation Gil started to show what Loki wanted him to. The hound's reaction sparked his own aggression. Gil claimed he didn't like it but he wouldn't let up about that until he was sure he had the real answer. “Oh really now? Because the way you were acting earlier didn't seem liked you did at all. You wouldn't be pestering me now if you hated it.” Loki continued to walk up to Gil, invading the hellhound's personal space just to make the damn mutt just as uncomfortable as he was. “What do you really want from me Gil? Were you hoping for another cuddle session to go along with your rabbit tonight? Sorry to disappoint you pup but I am never letting you take advantage of me like that again. You are lucky that I didn't scratch you for doing what you did. I don't like to abuse the dying, but if you ever try to touch me like that again I will not hesitate to claw your damn eyes out.”

The day had started out like any other. Coffee. A little television. Hunting. Check in at work. Why, she had even stayed for one of the PDIA's silly little updates. They should be happy of that! And then it had happened. Rikutsu's daily escapades had gotten her called in for a scolding. Of course, this had happened before. Her superiors always had something to say about her 'unruly behaviour'. Did they honestly think that because of her canine nature that she could be so easily subdued? Controlled? Yes, she worked for the PDIA. It was good money, and she could get away with much more when the humans believed that they had her under leash and collar. Her supernatural coworkers knew that this wasn't the case, but few dared to say anything about it. They knew better.
It took less than a minute for the Inu to grow bored of being scolded. When she began showing signs of disinterest, this only seemed to irritate her superiors, and they began another round of lectures about listening and doing what she was told. It didn't last long. Tricking humans was easy. When would they learn this? A grin curled the young woman's lips. Once again, she had slipped the leash.
Sunlight filtered down through the the foliage as she trotted along a pathless trail through the trees. Perhaps one day, the PDIA would really act upon their threat to lock her up for awhile, but she assumed they were merely empty threats. Her skills and power were entirely too useful. Unless they managed to concoct a means of controlling her, she would do as she pleased. It wasn't as if she was going around killing humans and all. They didn't need to worry so much. Foolish humans. The scent of a rabbit wafted past her sensitive nose, and Rikutsu paused, lifting her face upwards to scent the air. There was blood, and another smell that was vaguely familiar. The rabbit had already been hunted. A cat? Continuing in the direction of the smell, she soon realized that the scent was of the feline shifter she had encountered in the bayou. Loki, was it?
The Inu's pace picked up a little, her tail wagging behind her in anticipation of meeting someone she already knew, but suddenly, a new, unfamiliar scent joined Loki's, and the coyote woman stopped in her tracks, the fur of her tail standing on end. Some sort of canine had approached the feline. And if scent was any indication, the creature was a hellhound.
Rikutsu hesitated, debating. Hellhounds were too much like wolves. Wolves and coyotes never got along. In fact, in the wild, a wolf pack would kill any coyote that was found in its territory. Being that the coyote was her main form, ancient instincts that stemmed from century old memories kept the Inu rooted in place for a minute or two. Perhaps she should just turn around and be on her merry way? A whiff of the air told her that Loki was unharmed. Maybe he knew the hound. If so, there would be little reason for her to appear. If neither of them had scented her, then she could simply turn around and go back the way she had come.
But something stopped her.
There was a tension in the air. Not the tension of a battle about to break lose, but something...different. Rikutsu couldn't place it. Curiosity had always gotten her into trouble faster than she could get herself out of it, and it was no different this time. Leaping into the nearest tree and using the branches to move above the ground, the Inu attempting to remain unnoticed so she could see what was going on. As long as neither creature had smelled her, this could be accomplished, but then what were the chances of that?
