They had finally reached her apartment. Inside, she got Stevie set up. For she could handle him later. He wasn't dying… again. If anything, he suggested that she take care of Loki now and him later. He felt fine. In fact, when she protested, he told her he was so fine that he couldn't feel really anything. With that, she guided Loki to her room and sat him up on her bed. She quickly left her room and found herself searching for several things to keep him ok. For how, she only needed really a few things. But would this all help her out in the end? Maybe. Only time could tell. As she stepped into the kitchen, she opened a cabinet that was used only for her potions when they were done being made. They were not labled to keep people from knowing what they were. Mainly, her new house guests. The last thing she needed was her magic to be taken advantage of. Plus, some of her potions were quite powerful. She did not need some of them floating around for the hands of others to get on. Not to say that Vince or Stevie would be careless. But now a days, she could only trust herself and her cat. A couple vials here and a few jars there. Soon, she had a few things, a rag, a cup and a large glass bowl. Quickly she headed to her room. Unbeknownst to her that Shadows was quickly at her heels and was curious as to what her girl would be doing with the strange boy that now occupied the little creatures spot in her bed. However, upon entering the room, Shadows noticed something instantly. When the boy's eyes weakly opened, she recognized his golden eyes. His scent was even familiar to her. What was this? Not that she could say anything anyways to Blake. However, she did approach him. Obviously, Blake was showing him such close care. Maybe she needed to keep him in her thoughts. It wasn't like she was a magical cat. She was only 'magic' when Blake needed her to be. Otherwise, she was an ordinary cat.
Blake gently dabbed some rubbing alcohol in a clean rag for his open, bleeding wounds. Her head tipped to the side and she found herself finally dabbing his forehead, ”This might sting a little...” A smile reached her lips as she began to clean his open wounds, but then she realized, she needed to give him her potion very quickly. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to stay awake. And if he fell asleep, he would be subjected to the full symptoms of a concussion. She took his hand and placed it to the rag that rested against his forehead. In this time with her free healing hands, she managed to pull out the mug and poured a small concoction in. It didn't look like it, but it was a mixture in a large mason jar that looked like water. Thing is, it was not. It was a mixture of blessed moon water, her tears, and a few other things. She only needed the water from it. Everything else she strained out and managed to put it away for her to find another use. There was no flavor, except for a mild sweet taste. Soon, she handed it to him and waited until he had a firm enough grasp on the mug handle, ”Drink this. It will help..” She smiled softly and began to clean up his wounds to help prevent infection. Not that what she gave him wouldn't help. However, this will help with the scaring. As it would be clean and the cuts and scrapes could heal without all the excess clotting that blood does as it begins to dry up.
As she cleaned him up, she began to think to herself. She began to wonder about a lot of things. The biggest one was the fact that Loki was there even when he said he wouldn't be. Granted, like her, he couldn't just let someone suffer and die. With that said, she was grateful for him. She was happy that he wouldn't just leave her alone. At least, not very easily. Truly, if it wasn't for him, she would be dead. They wouldn't be here. The same goes for her friend, Stevie. It was because of the both of them that she would be able to live another day. She owed him everything. The same with Guillotine. She owed him everything as well, as he could have killed her. The hound never did. Instead, he tried to protect her, before the instincts of his animalistic side kicked in. But she wouldn't think about that right now. She would think about the blond man in her bed. She gently touched his cheek and found herself tipping her head to the side. Watching him closely to make sure he drank all of what was in the mug. A faint smile rested against her lips as she found herself pouring another concoction into the rag. A gentle smile rested across her lips as she began to dab it against his cuts, ”This should help with the pain… it won't hurt...”

Loki wasn't sure what was going on at this point. The longer Loki fought off closing his eyes to fall asleep the worse his condition got. The world just would not stop spinning. Ever movement made made the dizziness worse and made him feel sick to his stomach. The pain only seemed to grow too and his vision just kept going dark at times that he wasn't sure if that was because his eyes were closed or if he was about to fall unconscious for good. Blake's presence and Stevie's attempts at conversation could only do so much to keep the little shifter focused on the real world but after a certain point it was getting too hard to focus even on that much. Loki couldn't recall when he had moved from the car into Blake's bed. In fact, he didn't know where he was at all. Where ever he was it was comfortable enough to tempt him into falling asleep. He couldn't fall asleep though. He could hardly remember why he wasn't suppose to sleep yet but he knew that he wasn't suppose to. It had to be because of his head right? He could kind of remember getting his head slammed a couple of times tonight. It wasn't in his best interest to sleep after that. What had the healers he used to learn from taught him? Head injuries were dangerous? He needed to be careful.
But how long was he suppose to be up for? It was getting so hard to stay awake that he was sure he would succumb at any moment. While Loki was pondering on just how much time he had left someone entered the room. A curious pair of eyes came into his view first. They were familiar, they didn't belong to the person that brought him here but to someone else. His eyes finally were able to focus a little better at what they were looking at and he found out who he was looking at. Another feline, but not just any feline, it was Shadows. Before he could open his mouth to say something another familiar voice rang through his ears. Blake was here too. This must be her place then. There was no other explanation as to why the both of them happened to be in the same place he was. Blake's words confused him for a second until she started tending to his wounds. The boy flinched when the rag came into contact with his open wounds. She wasn't kidding when she said it would sting.
“Are you kidding? I don't feel a thing.” Loki joked. He might be feeling like shit now but as always he tried to blow the whole thing over. Loki followed whatever instructions he was given without question. Even with his brain so muddled he still remembered from his previous experiences with healers to follow their instructions no matter how much it might hurt him or make him feel uncomfortable. Blake wasn't from his old world, but her profession was pretty similar. Forcing himself to sit up a little Loki drank the liquid offered to him. Luckily for him whatever he was drinking wasn't bitter, it didn't have much of a taste to it, besides a slightly sweet aftertaste. That made it easier for him to swallow so he couldn't complain there. Once he had downed the concoction and Blake started to tend to his wounds again the young male started feeling guilty. “I'm sorry...” the boy said softly. “I was suppose to keep you from harm but all I managed to do was get my ass beat instead. Now here you are trying to patch me up. Pretty pathetic isn't it?”

She chuckled at his tough guy act. He said he wanted t protect her, but in the end, they both needed one another and Stevie. By the end of all this, they all needed one another. It was kind of a poetic thing. But, why did men have to do this macho act? Why was it so needed for them to always show strength? She didn't always need protecting. Loki's idea of protecting her was leaving her alone. She looked down at him and tipped her head to the side, ”Your idea of protecting me was leaving me alone. Obviously danger finds me with or without you.” There was a playful tone to her voice, yet truth in her words. The seriousness of her voice was almost matter of fact. She could die tomorrow and tonight proved to Loki (hopefully) that she would be in danger whether he was around or not. She had been in rough situations before that was worse than tonight. Granted, Stevie could have killed her and so could that demon. But she was hospitalized because of Guillotine. She saved Jesse from a demon. She was constantly strangled by Shade when he was trying to make a point. She had to get pregnant for him to back off a little. She was bitten by a venomous demon in her sleep and creatures tried to kill her and Raffe when they were teenagers. Not to mention, Shade's baby needed blood. When she didn't get it, Blake started to look sickly pale. Almost like a corpse and she was always sick. Then she lost the baby. It seems like all those times and even tonight, still didn't compare to any of that. To her, it didn't. She had realized that she had been through an awful lot. But it was all that and more that made her realize how strong she truly was.
She looked down at the scar in the palm of her hand. Guillotine's bind was still strongly there. For a moment she admired it and remembered not just him, but knew he had the sister scar. They were identical. This scar meant that they could always feel when the other was near by. Shade didn't know that the bind never wore off. With him being gone for so long, she realized the scar on her hand from her bind to Shade was almost gone. The spell was fading because there was nobody there to help keep its strength. The bond between her and Guillotine began to grow and with each day the spell had grown stronger. In turn, they developed a bond that Shade would destroy her and her hound friend for. It was in the scar that she was reminded of her immortality. A sad, empty feeling it was to be in this position. She knew there were weaknesses to this. There had to be. But it was a reminder, she would be here forever, unless something happened. If something took her from this world, she would be no more than a memory to the people she left behind. Sometimes that sounded nice. If only Loki knew how she felt, because little did they know, their feelings were similar. That they both wanted to end and leave this world. Blake had not felt anything since her child passed. She wanted to feel again. Something, anything! So long as she didn't feel like a shell that had to walk the Earth. Guil knew she had changed. She was an emotionless girl to the world with a swirling heap of pain underneath. But that was truly all she felt. She wanted to feel happiness. Those other warm feelings that people were meant to feel. Her cat made her feel that way, but she couldn't bring herself to feel that way about others. There was too much hurt. So much pain.
Her eyes managed to look up at Loki one more time, that was when she found herself softly touching his arm and smiling at him. She felt something here, with him. She knew it was something. It had to be something. He was the only person in the longest time to make her feel the way she felt the night he decided he wanted to cut ties with her. She respected his wishes and had not seen him until tonight. When he came to her by chance. Of which she deeply appreciated. She watched him closely for a little, then found a smile creeping against her pale features, ”Thank you, for everything you did for me tonight...”
She wouldn't be hard on him. She would be gentle with him and would inform him about how she genuinely felt about all of this. In fact, she leaned forward and gently planted a soft kiss against the corner of his mouth. After a moment, she pulled away. It was her thank you token for him and only for him. She had given Guillotine similar treatment. But the last time she kissed him, she was no longer a single woman and told him no. After that, she had never kissed anyone, other than her last boyfriend and Raffe. But Raffe once again vanished. Therefore, she decided to keep to herself. Although, tonight with Loki, a simple thank you was not enough. He deserved more, and the kiss was more than enough to express her gratitude. A moment of silence passed, before she went back to cleaning his wounds.

It was no secret right now how Loki was feeling, but despite feeling like complete shit he still tried to play it off. He didn't do it to make himself look tougher than he was, or for the sake of his own pride, or something stupid like that. It was just a habit of his. Whenever he was hurt, physically, or emotionally he tried to cover up his suffering. He had been doing it for so long that he didn't even realize when he was doing it half the time. It never did him much good though. Being able to hide his feelings never made them go away. It didn't solve anything. All it did was make him feel more lonely. God he was pathetic. Thinking about tonight made him reflect on all the mistakes of his past. What was he doing with his life? With Blake? No matter what choice he had tried to make with the woman he only seemed to cause her trouble. He had tried to break up their potential friendship out of fear that he could get her hurt some day, but trouble seemed to find her on its own. Then when he tried to protect her he ended up needing saving himself, and now she had to trouble herself with taking care of him. That last fact might not have mattered at all if he really believed that he had saved her, but he wasn't sure that he did. He was too weak to take care of himself, what made him think he could do anything to protect anyone else?
Blake's words, though made more in jest than seriousness only made him question his actions more. “...If you knew what I have done you might see why leaving you alone seemed the best option.” the boy gave Blake a weak smile as he spoke. Maybe it was time to tell her the truth about why he was so desperate to push her away. “You do have a point...I guess. Maybe you're as unlucky as I am. Let's hope not.” at least he could safely say that tonight's demon attack was not his fault. They had both been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing could have been done to avoid what happened no matter how hard they tried. “...Tonight was bad...but at least its just one random occurrence...its not likely to happen again any time soon...” Not like what his continued existence could bring to her life. That thought he kept to himself for now. He knew that Blake wouldn't understand and would only get more upset with him if he said those thoughts out loud. They had been through enough for one day to be opening up old wounds.
Though once tonight was over he would still have to figure out what he was going to do about her. He knew the dangers that his existence could bring, but after tonight he felt hesitant to leave again. Deep down he really liked Blake. Loki had known plenty of girls in his life, but there were very few that he ever wanted to be friends with. It was hard to think that he could make another female friend after Amalia. Yet he cared enough for Blake that he didn't want to see her get hurt. He didn't know what it was about her that caught his attention, but he knew that it could be dangerous in the long run. A blush crept up on his face when Blake kissed him. It was the simplest, most innocent of gestures, under more normal circumstances it might not have meant anything to him. Yet it was enough to make his face turn red and make his heart race a bit. God he couldn't do this.
“Y-you don't need to thank me.” He stammered a bit as he spoke. “I didn't do much for you to deserve it...” He couldn't stay by her side any longer than he already had. Maybe he was just being a fool again but his resolve to keep away from Blake's life had been renewed. She wouldn't understand why, and would feel hurt again by his insistence unless he could explain himself. Loki looked over at Blake, there was no hiding the sadness that reflected in them. God he didn't want to do this again but did he really have a choice anymore? “I know you think I am being stupid for trying to protect you by keeping my distance. You might be right about that but I did it for a good reason. I might not be like that demon but I am not the safest person to be around...” Loki dropped his gaze for a moment as he tried to find the words to say. He had never once spoken about what had happened that day to anyone. It was easy enough to avoid when he had been by himself. Even though he was living with someone else now he never spoke about his past. Even now he didn't even want to speak about it, but Blake at least deserved an explanation. “I...killed the last girl I was with. The same thing might happen to you if we get too close...that's why I tried to push you away.”

Blake listened closely, and watched him in a way that seemed even more closely than her listening. But she soaked in everything that he had to say. Her ears piked up everything as she began to clean up his wounds, still. That was why he pushed her away…? Course, that was a traumatic experience. That explained everything. She was certain he may have fallen in love with this girl of which he spoke of. But she was not bothered by it. If anything, she was more humbled. His gesture, though it came from the fear of the past repeating itself, she found herself slipping into a sense of a moment of content. She tried to not show it. She merely dressed his wounds and found herself wanting to find the words to say. How do you speak to someone who felt so strongly about the events that happened in their lives that had permanently damaged them? Blake did not know. But she knew she needed to handle the situation with caution. She did not want to hurt him or make him feel like she was dismissing his feelings at all. That would destroy her, for hurting him. She bit into her bottom lip and said the only thing she knew to say.
”I am sorry...”
She had lost people close to her, before. If this experience for him was so bad, he had to have been close to this other girl. Which only made her feelings on the matter a little worse. Unfortunately, one of his gashes needed only a little bit of stitching. She grabbed a small stitching needle and some medical tweezers and stitching thread. She began to stitch up the wound, softly pondering what he had said. Not trying to ignore him at all. In which she was probably a little more in tune with him, now than she had been before. Her eyes landed on him. Her lips gently parted as she summed up the words to speak, ”I am so sorry that, that happened to you...” Her hand gently touched his cheek. He must have been holding onto this guilt for several long years? Maybe? Either way, he was suffering within. Her head tipped to the side as her teeth sunk into her bottom lip, ”That must have been quite a lot to go through...” Maybe, just maybe they weren't quite so different? She summed up the courage and found herself biting into her bottom lip.
”I am the reason my daughter is dead… She died because my soul belonged to her father… and when I got my soul back… she couldn't handle the holy magic. At seven months, I miscarried and watched her die in my arms...” Her eye welled up with tears for a moment. Wishing to hold back the pain she felt, ”I wish… I could feel something… I wish… I could just… Sometimes I wish I could die… Because of my ex mate… I am immortal… I don't know my weaknesses yet… But I have been stuck in the body of an eighteen year old for some time...” This was something a little hard for her to admit. Her eyes narrowed a bit, her heart was heavier with pain as she remembered the pain that welled beneath her exterior. The shell of her former self. Doomed to walk the many changes of the world only to not change as the world around her changes. Her heart pounded hard. It was an understanding of one another that made this a little harder, but may have forced her to act upon impulse. She leaned forward, pressing her lips to his. She said nothing. She didn't mean to make him uncomfortable. She acted on an impulse that she felt. This also meant for him to stay silent with her in this moment. A hand softly touched his cheek… her lips gently pulling apart.

Guilt. It was an emotion that Loki was all too familiar with. It was a horrible feeling that had plagued him for years. That was for good reason, at least in his mind it was. Growing up Loki had been taught that the decisions one made in their life could effect everyone around them. It was a lesson he was taught because of the family he was born into. For his father, every decision he made ultimately effected all of his subjects. Even though he had fled from his birth right those lessons still carried on with him in this world. As much as he loathed to admit it his old man was right. His choices in life did effect those around him...for the worse. Amalia would still be alive if it wasn't for him. If he had insisted that they stuck together, or had stayed back to lure the men that came after them away. No, not the men that came for them but rather came for him. Those human bastards would not have found them that day if Loki didn't get caught stealing from them in the first place. He had fucked up when he tried to steal from one of them. If he didn't get caught and revealed his true form in a desperate attempt to escaped when he got cornered, they would have had no reason to look for him and later hunt him down and find Amalia as well.
There were plenty of times that he wondered what would have happened if he never stole from them in the first place. Loki never really did like having to be a thief in the first place, but he never did have much of a choice when he first came into this world. This world was too strange for the two young shifters to adapt to, the money they did have at the time was not acceptable currency in this world, no one would hire them, or even give them a second glance, they were scared, alone, hungry, and too desperate to not go down that route. It was even harder not to steal when Amalia got sick. She had been so ill the day he stole from those men, and they had so little cash for him to buy the medicine she needed to keep stable as well as food for both of them he had little choice in the matter. He did what he had to do to take care of both her and himself. But he ended up getting her killed.
He was the worse. He was a fool that got the one person he was closed to killed. Loki had thought he learned his lesson after that day. It had been years since he had anything more than a casual conversation with another person. Until he met Blake and Azazel. Neither of them had any idea how important they had become in his life. Even Loki didn't realize it until it was too late. At first he thought he could handle starting over again, getting close to others again. He wasn't the same stupid kid he had been two years ago. He thought he wouldn't repeat the same mistakes of his past. But he did. He was already causing trouble for both of them. It was a little harder for him to leave Azazel, but he wanted to at least protect Blake from the disaster he would end up bringing in her life. That desire to protect her at least was what led him to confessing to her. He didn't go into details, it was still so hard just to speak about it like this. But just uttering those words was enough to explain his past actions.
Loki couldn't help but draw his gaze away from her after that. As little as he said about Amalia's death what he did say was enough to make anyone pause. He expected a lot of reactions from her, surprise, anger, he wouldn't have been surprised if she asked him some questions about it. But she didn't do any of that. She just said that she was sorry. That was...unexpected. Loki turned his gaze back up at Blake as she continued to tend to his wounds. Why? Why did she feel pity for him? “You...don't have to say that.” Loki genuinely felt confused by her reaction. “I don't deserve pity or forgiveness for what I have done.” the boy sighed. “I didn't even learn from my mistakes. I already brought you pain just by getting close to you, and you aren't even the only one I've done that to....you really should stay away from me after this before things get worse.”
When it came time for Blake's confessions Loki fell silent, giving her the same amount of attention she had given him when told her of his own sins. They really were more alike than he had ever thought. Blake had already told him a little about her miscarriage before, but now that he knew the details he was starting to see why the death of her unborn child affected her so deeply. Loki was about to open his mouth to say sorry before stopping himself. It was funny how 'sorry' was the first thing that came to mind when he himself tried to reject those very words. It didn't matter in the end how much they might feel sorry for one another, it never made up for the fact that they both felt like murderers. “Did....you know that was what would happen when you tried to get your soul back?” he asked instead. There was so much that Loki didn't know about this world, he lived with a fallen angel but he was only just grasping an understanding of the holy and unholy natures of the world, and with magic not being a natural part of his world growing up he was ignorant about magic and how it worked. The idea that someone could steal another person's soul was new to him, and the idea that there was a way to recover it was even newer. What kind of mate would take their lover's soul? And how could gaining back a part of yourself that you had lost kill a child?
Loki wanted to know, not just out of some sick morbid curiosity but to understand the depth of Blake's guilt, and maybe find a way to rid her of it. It was silly to think that he could even manage to do that when he couldn't do so himself. Having knowledge about something prior to an action leading to dire consequences didn't always absolve someone of their guilt. Loki didn't know that his actions would get Amalia killed, all he knew was that his lack of thinking about the consequences did. But in Blake's case could she really say the same? He didn't know, and he wasn't going to find out right away thanks to what happened next. Just like the first time Loki did not see this kiss coming when it did. It was the sweetest, gentlest kiss he had ever had. So why did it make him feel so bad? Loki looked Blake in the eyes, his face had turned scarlet after what happened. What did he really feel about this woman? He had only known Blake for a short period of time but he knew he grew a little attached to her. She was the first girl he had really talked to after that incident, she was kind too. But he didn't really think of his feelings towards her as anything more than friendship. Why wouldn't he feel a bit stronger about her when he had been by himself for so long? But...maybe there was more too it than that. That thought only made him feel worse. If he liked her as more than that....like he had liked Amalia wasn't he betraying his former love? Wouldn't he ultimately lead Blake to share the same fate? “I'm sorry...” his voice was heavy with grief as he spoke. What was he doing?

Loki’s reaction to her kissing him, did not offend her. If anything, it only made her smile and warmed her heart. Had it been someone, possibly even Stevie, this would have escalated into something else that she was not ready for. So when he apologized for not reciprocating either the kiss, his feelings, or both… Blake did not take offence to it. She kept the smile on her face and finally parted her lips, ”Don’t worry about it. My feelings aren’t hurt. It only felt like it was the only thing I could do… So if anything, I should be the one to apologize to you.” With that, she continued to address his injuries. Making him comfortable. That was her job after all. She made a living on helping those who needed it, whether they liked it or not. In his case, he had no choice. At least by her; for she would not let anything happen to him. Feelings or no feelings, he was still her friend and she would be responding the same if he was Guillotine. That was what separated her from everyone else. She was willing to help those who have also done her wrong. Maybe she was just too forgiving? Lord knows, she didn’t blame Loki for what happened that night outside the yogurt shop. Then something caught her ear.
She managed to look up at Loki, remembering that he had asked her a question about the death of her child. He wanted to know if she knew that the inevitable would have happened after gaining her soul back. For a moment, she wondered if she truly knew and wanted her child out of her. In some cases, if that genuinely was the case, she would have wanted that. And who could blame her? Khaine was insane and would have sooner ripped her throat out if he knew anything. In fact, she knew he knew that their baby was gone. Why he didn’t come to end her life was beyond her. Maybe she just wasn’t worth it to him anymore. One can only hope, but who knew what went on in that twisted mind of his? Guillotine was the one who knew best in that factor, as he was so close to Khaine in demonic entities. It was something she didn’t want to know. She didn’t want to know what her former mate was thinking. Or what he could have been thinking in that moment when he found out that she regained her soul, but for a price. It meant their unborn daughter would lose her life. She blamed herself enough without someone else coming in and saying how she did it on purpose and completely making it entirely out to be her fault. Because it wasn’t…
Blake did not know that her baby would miscarry if she regained her soul back. But she knew why she died. Her daughter was the spawn of a woman who was a witch, with a father who was a demon. The holy magic not only gave her mother back her soul but tried to cure that part of the babe as well, in turn with her being so small and Shadow Demon being a true part of her genetics, the baby died. Blake knew the downfalls to cause and effect too well. After all, Nursing was her job and it was simple really, if one were to sit and really think about it. And she had. She had thought the entire situation over several times in her head and had asked herself why she did what she did. Knowing that there would be consequences? But she, in her heart of hearts, knew that there was no way for her to genuinely know. She was fixated on one thing, and one thing only. She wanted her soul back. When she finally came to that conclusion, she blamed herself even more for what happened. She believed her reasons were selfish. With every action, there was a reaction. She truly believed her immortality was a sign of a punishment, now. That she was doomed to walk the face of this Earth until the end of time with her guilt.
She parted her lips, eyes on Loki, ”I honestly did not know that the holy magic from the Angel that helped me would kill her… I guess I should have known…” She then thought more on the subject. Wording the explanation in her head to form it into something that would be easy for Loki to understand. And there, she had it, ”With Khaine being a demon… The holy magic would have done harm to her, anyway… unless I waited for her to be born. Then it would not have had an effect on her… With my still being pregnant… See… With her being half demon and my being pregnant when El gave me my soul back… the holy magic from El effected Emilia…” It was still hard to say her name. She remained silent for a moment, recollecting herself. As the mere mention of her daughter’s name was enough to send the woman into a fit of panic, ”Because of the reaction of Holy magic against her father’s demonic magic… Emilia couldn’t handle the change… demon was part of her genetics… her DNA… you can’t change a person’s DNA… There is no way… in this magical… paranormal realm… there are exceptions… But a Demon, gaining a soul is not one of them…” She then looked back at his wounds for a moment before asking him the same question back, ”Did you know, that what you did would have reprecussions…?”

Oh how ironic it was for Loki to act the way he did when Blake kissed him. From the time Loki had hit adolescents, maybe even before that he had been a flirt. He always said that it was just a part of his nature but his upbringing was a part of it too. From an early age he was taught how to please women and woe them, to help make it easier for his father to make good matches for him in the future. It was an easy thing to do for him. Being charming was one of the few positive traits that he had and charm was a major factor on how to get females to like you. But as flirtatious as he was he never went too far with it. While being flirtatious was fine, there was a certain point that was not socially acceptable for him to cross in the place he grew up in. Not like he wanted to cross that line in the first place. Despite his upbringing Loki had certain ideas that he held, much to the dismay of his parents. For one he believed in love. He wanted to love the person he was with before he even thought of kissing them. That idea was part of the reason why he exiled himself when his father tried to force him into marriage, and was why he was still a virgin even now.
That was why it felt like such a big deal when things like this happened to him when he least expected it. It was a terrible experience when the half dying, hallucinating, hellhound had suddenly kissed him. And now Blake had done the same. This time was different though. He felt different about this one. He didn't know why that was. He couldn't tell if it was a bad feeling or not which was a big difference compared to his first time, but it didn't make him take it too well. He knew he was acting terribly and tried to apologize for that. It wasn't Blake's fault for holding some feelings for him. He still had a bad habit of misleading females with the way he acted. It wasn't her fault that romance was a complicated issue with him either. He was worried that his rejection would make Blake feel even worse than she already did but she took it far better than he expected. She even apologized to him for doing it. Things grew quiet between them after that, but it wasn't long before Loki broke that silence with a question. Loki knew that what he was asking about would be harder for her than what had just happened but it was a question that they couldn't ignore. One way or another it was a problem that needed to be acknowledge some day and chose to deal with it now while they had the chance.
Was it really Blake's fault that her child died? Loki already had his own thoughts on the matter. Though he didn't have much details on what had happened the day that she had miscarried in his heart he didn't think she was to blame for it. Maybe he just wanted to think that? Loki knew better than most how bad decisions could effect others when you least expected it. Blake's circumstances could be just the same as his but he refused to blame her for what happened. Loki put his own thoughts on hold to listen to Blake's story. It seemed that his assumption on if she knew what could happen to her unborn child were right. But just like him once she had time to reflect on the events that led up to that moment it became more obvious what would have happened if she had made a different decision. “I guess that makes sense.” Loki replied as he thought over what she said. The whole holy magic and demons stuff was still a little complicated to the shifter, but he had gotten a good enough grasp of it from Azazel to understand what had happened with the baby. Angels and Demons were natural born enemies. The powers that both sides wielded was toxic to one another. To demons the holy magic was like poison, enough of that going through a demonic child was bound to kill it.
“But even if you considered that possibility its surprising that it happened. I don't know a lot about half breeds beyond what I have been told before, but that is only in regards to my own kind. Things like demons as far as I know don't exist where I came from so I can't say anything about that. The only creatures my kind sometimes interbreed with were humans and other shifters of different species.” There was no use in hiding what he was now, he had already been outed as a nonhuman thanks to Guillotine so he had no issues with casually spilling the beans on his race now. “From I am told if a shifter mates with a human the child born of that union will either end up as a shifter or as a human. Its generally the same with other shifters. A child born from different species will favor one of the parents forms but it won't favor both. It doesn't sound like it works that way with other supernaturals. At least not with demons...then again for all I know my parents lied to me. It wouldn't be the first time they lied to me to keep me from doing something they would disapprove of.”
“The point I am trying to make is that what happened might not be your fault. If Emilia was truly part human and part demon there was a chance that her human side could have helped her survive the magic better. There could be other unknown factors that helped reach that outcome. Take it from someone who came from a family with a history of miscarriages. Pregnancy complications are more common than you think.” Loki couldn't say that he had any personal experience with losing a child. He had never been a father, he certainly couldn't bear children inside him to ever have the chance of losing them. But he had learned about them from his mother. Both she and his father's previous wives had a lot of miscarriages and child deaths when trying to produce an heir for their husband. All the women besides his mother had died during childbirth. It had been so bad that there were rumors about a curse afflicted on his father. Loki didn't really believe it but he couldn't deny how messed up his family history was. He didn't think that all those failures had been the womens fault. There were a lot of things that happened to cause what happened to happen. Blake's case was different but that didn't mean that she was to blame for it.
He might have been a bit of a hypocrite on the subject of Blake's guilt than he was on his own. He looked away sadly when Blake turned that question back on him. “No I didn't but I should have expected it.” he replied. “Back when Amalia was alive we were living out on the streets. There was little that we could do to support ourselves. We just woke up in a strange new world with no understanding of how we got here or anything about the world around us. No one would help us, or hire us so eventually I turned to stealing to help us get by. I refused to let her try stealing with me since she was pretty weak.” Loki chuckled at the thoughts. “Amalia acted pretty tough but she had been born with a weak constitution. She got sick and tired easily so moving around a lot like we did was hard on her. She hated having to rely on me all the time but that was the way it was. One day she got sick again. There weren't any plants or herbs I could mix to help her with her fever and we were so low on cash that I had no choice but to leave her for a few hours to try and get enough money for food and proper medicine.”
“In my desperation I picked the wrong pocket and got caught. It wasn't the first time I have been caught stealing someones wallet so I didn't think it was a big deal. I tried to run but they guy I stole from and his friends managed to corner me. When they grabbed me I panicked and transformed. My animal form is too small to fend off a bunch of humans but it was enough of a shock to buy me time to escape. After I escaped and made my way back to Amalia I thought everything was fine. I didn't even think about it after a few days until Amalia got better and we were walking around. That's when they found us...this time they had a gun.” Loki sighed as he struggled to bring himself to say what happened next. “We had no other choice but to run for our lives but they were gaining on us fast. When we were trying to figure out where to hide when Amalia said we should split up to confuse them....I should have known that was a stupid plan but I wasn't thinking. All I did was tell her where to meet me once the coast was clear and parted ways. It took me more than half the day to finally get my pursuers off my trail but when I made it to the meeting place and she never showed up I started to worry. Eventually I left to go look for her...and I found her body.”
He could still remember what happened that day like it was yesterday. He remembered the growing panic in him as the hours went by and Amalia never showed up. He remembered how long it took tracing back her steps looking for her, trying his best not to get caught by the humans as he looked for her. He remembered the horror of finding her body. He hadn't been there to see what happened in her final moments but he had an idea. She must have taken on her feline form to help her hide and had been caught. Maybe the humans mistaken her in her animal form as him, maybe they knew that she wasn't. Either way they had shot her until she stopped moving. There had been so many bullet wounds over her body that there was no way she had a clean death. “I...I don't know if things would have been different if I didn't steal from those humans. Some part of me does still think that things would be different if I never met those guys. But I know that part was inevitable. I didn't have much of a choice but to steal when I did. If I didn't steal we would both be dead. That part wouldn't change. What killed her wasn't just the theft...it was my own actions. I should have been more careful after I had exposed my true nature. I should have taken Amalia out of that town once she was good enough instead of loitering around. And I definitely should have not left her behind when they chased us. I knew enough about her condition to know she couldn't out run those guys. If we had stuck together, or if I gone to distract them she would still be alive now...”
