Naeph
A very hidden race, the Naeph are winged beings that have been around since the dawn of time. Many have mistaken them as dark angels, with the whites of their eyes being black and the strange markings that appear on their faces, but they are simply a strange race. They have since faded out as a race, or their bloodlines have thinned out to nothingness from mating with humans, so there are few known left. They have evolved from centuries of living in hiding because of the fear they struck in humans, so their powers and strange features are hidden until awakened. Small signs of awakening happen as early as 15, and if left unawakened past age 20, these signs will disappear and the Naeph will become human with slightly better reflexes and intuition. When fully awakened, a Naeph has large feathered wings, of a neutral color like white, silver, gold, tan, or black, which are able to meld back into the shoulder blades at whim. The tattooed markings are unique to every Naeph, and will show up with an inability to hide them once awakened. These markings are always around the eyes, almost like a mask, and the color is also unique to the individual. They have an ethereal glow about them at all times, and the whites of their eyes become black once full awakening happens. If Naephs let themselves become human, they will live a human lifespan. If awakened, their lifespan is endless, but the process of awakening is very dangerous and can kill the adolescent Naeph.
Each Naeph has a certain power, usually determined by the bloodline they come from. These possibilities are practically endless.
Appearance:
- Hair Color:Platinum blonde, almost white
- Eye Color:Icy blue, with a burst of silver and the whites of her eyes are black
- Height:5'1"
- Build: Thin, with an hourglass figure. Very fit
- Significant Features: The swirling tattoo-markings on her face are silver, and they are delicate in nature. A silver hoop is in the cartilage of her right ear, and she has her own tattoo of small outstretched angel wings on each shoulder blade. Her wings are pure silver, full and feathered.
- Clothing Style: She is very rock-chic, wearing mostly black and skinny jeans. Her hair is worn long, sometimes putting dread locks in when she feels particularly daring.

Biggest Flaw: She has a hard time trusting people
Abilities:
- Singing: She has a siren-like singing voice that can wake the dead for a period of time, shatter glass, erupt the ground, hurt people, and create certain feelings depending on the pitch and the song.
- Flying using her wings that she can call upon to use and make disappear at whim
Weaknesses:
- Poor eyesight
- Her bones are easily broken, due to the near-hollowness of them
- Her vocal siren-like power takes energy to do. Certain incantations or pitches she performs can be very weakening or even possibly deadly. If not at full power, she runs the risk of death if she attempts to raise the dead or take someone's life.
Three Important Things About Your Character and/or Its Past:
- Alida has a hard time talking about her family, because she had the chance to awaken (though she thought it was descent into madness), but her mother died because, as an unawakened Naeph, she thought she had wings and jumped off a bridge. Now that she knows what she is, Alida feels remorse for her mother who did not know her lineage and did not have a chance to awaken her powers. She also will not talk about her father, because when she was developing her vocal power, and when her father was sure she was going mad like her mother, Alida lost control and created a pitch that melted down his brain and killed him.
- Alida is the only Naeph who has the vocal powers she does, so she is one of the more powerful of the Naeph.
- Alida is unsure of how other Naephs came to this world, but she was born here and thought she was human, like her mother. Somewhere up the line her family decided not to continue their powerful lineage and stay in hiding, until Alida's mother was sure she was different. Her mother researched the things that were happening to her at a young age but hid it under wraps after a while and got married and gave birth to Alida (means "winged one"). When Alida was 10 her mother died and the journals she had written in about the Naeph were found. This was how Alida had the ability to awaken.
