What do you do when you just can't take it anymore? Do you run for help? Try to hide, to find a release... An escape? What if, no matter what you do, you can't find that one thing that will set you free? Then what? Isadora clenched her nimble hands into tight fists, her right one nearly snapping the pencil it held clean in two as her muscles tightened. The girl was trying so, so hard to be normal right now, to just spend one hour without breaking down or running away to some secluded corner and curling in on herself. Obviously, she wasn't doing too well. It wasn't fair, all she wanted was a day to herself. That was all! "Oh, but Isa..." a menacing voice drifted into the nymph's thoughts, pushing past her mental barrier and twining itself into her mind. "You know you like us... We keep you company." The girl visibly tensed further as the voice continued on. She never had specific voices, they all sounded the same to her. But the things they said always varied, always made them distinct to what seemed to be just a single entity that belonged to each. This one was the one that liked to play with her emotions. It made her sick. "Shhh... Please, stop." The words came from the girl's mouth in nearly inaudible whimpers, an anguished expression coming over her pretty face as she dropped her pencil and lifted her hands to place them over her ears. Of course, this never worked to keep the voices away, but it was a reflexive habit by now. The girl moaned beneath her breath, her eyes squeezed shut as her other hand joined the first in scrunching her hair. It sounded horrible. But, at the same time, it wasn't absolutely appalling... A little tempting, even... "No! Don't listen to that nonsense. You should just go and do that to someone else, silly." Isa's eyes shot open and she scoured the surrounding area. The park was mostly dead, with the exception of a few random people here and there. They would be easy enough to take out... To shut the voices up if even for a minute... But no, that was wrong. Even as a naturally dark being she knew the distinction between right and wrong.
"Don't talk, don't talk, shh..." she muttered quietly, her words coming out in a flurried rush as one of hands clenched in her hair. She knew what was coming. "But dear, dear Isadora... We love you! We just want to have a little chat is all!" Isa's face drained of color. Chats were never good, not at all. "I-I don't wan-" Her words were cut off by her own mind as the "voices" started up again. "Listen, b*tch, we're not here to waste our time. Maybe you should just go die in a ditch or something, you're nothing but a pathetic creature anyways. Or maybe you should slit your wrists, or tie a noose around your neck. Something clean, fast, easy. How does that sound?"
The "new" voice grumbled in impatience and snapped, the poor brunette flinching in reaction to the harshness of her very own mind. "Just go do something already! You know how easily bored I get. Amuse me, or else I'll amuse myself, you disgusting rat." Isa grimaced and looked around again. She wasn't going to kill someone. Or injure them. She was just going to have to take the onslaught of hateful words that were sure to spew out from the voice soon enough, and that was that. It was so difficult though, sitting there trying to not break and lash out at everything and anything. Oh yeah, the thing was, Isa wasn't somewhere where she alone. She was sitting in the park, enjoying the cloudy day and having earlier decided to sketch a little. The cold didn't bother her, and honestly, she liked the peacefulness of the quiet winter atmosphere. Or, at least, it would've been quiet and peaceful if the voices weren't raging away in her mind. The brunette straightened herself out with some difficulty and glanced around, feeling her anxiety begin to peak as she saw some people looking at her. Were they thinking about coming over here? Were they going to hurt her, were they planning to kill her? Poison her, maybe? Isa's heart rate sky-rocketed and she stared down into her lap with frightened eyes, her right leg bouncing up and down endlessly as she tried to take in some deep breaths. She had to collect herself. Just ignore the voices, ignore the people, ignore the world, the voices, the people... Why was it always so hard?[/blockquote]
