Beaming, Lilith had Drew's hand in hers as they walked up the steps to her apartment. They had had a great evening in the outskirts of the city. She had been getting some new photos done and had invited Drew along. She had secretly wanted to take some of him anyways, and even though he denied, she had gotten away with a couple of candid shots. She put down her bag next to her door, her eyes shining bright. Her hair was wild, hanging down to her mid back and around her face, and she was in a little more practical clothing, jeans and a pink tank top with a white half jacket over it. It had been a month since she had started seeing Drew, and even though it wasn't good all the time, it was good a lot of the time for her at least. She had stayed the night at his place a few times, and he hers, but they had never gotten down to the dirty. She enjoyed cuddling with his warmth though. Sliding her key into her lock, she grinned. "Thanks for a great evening. I got some great shots." Lilith winked, her hand resting on her door handle. Even though they didn't often go out and do things, she just enjoyed being around Drew and he was starting to loosen up a bit around her, and she really enjoyed that. Her eyes gleaming mischievously, Lilith reaching up, pulling Drew's face down to her level so she could plant a kiss on his lips. She enjoyed these moments, when they kissed, or when she was pressed up against his warm body. Any dark thoughts in her mind always drifted away, usually replaced with a hot and heavy desire to jump Drew's bones completely, even though it hadn't happened yet. She felt Drew press against her, and she deepened the kiss, her hand turning the door handle so they could move out of the public area and into her apartment to continue things. Breaking the kiss, Lilith felt a smile stretch across her face as she turned around, flicking on the light to her apartment. She froze. Her couch had been overturned, her cushions scattered. The glass coffee table was broken and all the cupboards and drawers were open. Not moving, she blinked, feeling her mind go blank. What was happening? She had been robbed? She didn't live in the nicest neighborhood but it was really good with a really low crime rate. She backed up a step, feeling Drew's tense muscles behind her. There were photos scattered on the ground, some she had taken, but most of them looked like candid shots of her. Her bedroom door was ajar, and Lilith could notice the clothes strewn about. Whoever it was, had been thorough in going through everything, and judging by the candid shots of her, at the mall, working, walking down the street (there were dozens of different ones)...they had wanted Lilith to know she was being watched. Eyes widening, Lilith thought about the millions of calls and voicemail messages she had rejected, not bothering to listen to any of them and ended up, ultimately, changing her phone number the previous week. The man she had seen right before her and Drew had gotten together wouldn't leave her alone and now this...it had to be him. She hadn't told Drew the real reason she had changed her phone number or about any of it. She hadn't wanted to worry him and had thought it was all taken care of. "Drew..I..." How was she supposed to tell him now? With all this. Breathing, she turned around, away from what was before her eyes, feeling tears fall down her face and sobs start racking her body. "I thought I had taken care of it." Lilith immediately put her face in Drew's chest, sobs pouring out of her. She was too overwhelmed by the events right now to be terrified, but the fear was pricking at the edges of her conscious. "I changed my phone number, he never had my actual address...." She sobbed in between words. What was she going to do now? She couldn't just up and move, and the guy..whatever his name was...had found her once and so he could find her again. And what was Drew going to think? Was he going to think she was too much baggage? "I"m sorry..." The apology came out barely legible as she slipped down to the ground, unsure of what to do at the moment and completely freaked out about everything. She was lucky she hadn't feinted, and even though she usually had a very fiery personality, it seemed non-existent in the current state she was in. ==================================================== [[Since I typed this without you on -- I couldn't ask permission for the slight control of Drew I took but if you don't like it i can edit just let me know -- and I've never been stalked or read a stalker book so if you got ideas let me know]] [ Drew Schultz ]

He'd had a surprisingly enjoyable night, not that he didn't always enjoy spending time with Lilith, but he had always avoided cameras as a matter of course. If photos ever got into the wrong hands, after all, he would be running for his life again. But he knew Lilith. She wouldn't be careless with his pictures, and in fact, he doubted that she would ever show them to anyone. Still, dodging her pictures in more and more creative and ridiculous ways had become something of a game, one that she was somehow still managing to win, because of her determination to succeed. Her hand was so small... It was difficult to ever touch her and not realize just how fragile she was, compared to him at least. Not that he would ever tell her as much. She had a fire about her personality that he loved, and he doubted she would take kindly to ever being called "fragile."
He looked down to her as they arrived at her door, and his nose twitched at the scent of an unfamiliar man lingering over the doorway, but she distracted him from his thoughts when she reached up to his face and pulled him down into a kiss. His brain went blissfully silent, and he pulled her closer, drinking in her scent and the taste of her mouth. He felt her press in with her warm tongue as the door opened, and she pulled away with a grin that made him want to pull her back, but he let her turn around and flick on the lights.
As she froze, he breathed in the unfamiliar scent again, this time with a low, canine growl. The scent was male, and human, but that was all he recognized of it. There had been a strange man in Lilith's apartment, and he had trashed the place. The scent of fear was already rising around Lilith herself as Drew stepped forward a few paces and spotted the photographs. His inner wolf was furious, and Drew couldn't tell if it was angry because it thought that Lilith was part of his pack, or if it thought that she was his mate, but either way, it was determined to protect her. Not wanting to frighten Lilith any further, he shelved that discussion for another time.
He breathed in deeply, committing the scent to memory. Whoever had done this... he would regret it.
Turning to her as she began to cry, he wrapped his arms around her without saying a word, pressing her to his chest. His heart was racing, his eyes golden, but he was outwardly calm about it. From what she said, this had been going on for longer than she had been willing to admit it, and from the photos, none of which featured him, he was fairly certain that this stalker, however dangerous, wasn't on the same magnitude of dangerous as the people he had been afraid of.
"Lilith, get yourself some clothes, and whatever you will need this week," he told her, his voice low and controlled. "Call into work and tell them you need a few days. You're staying at my place until I sort this out."
He left no room for argument, taking charge in a way that was most unlike him. He was never one to boss Lilith around, never one to try to control what she did. But in a matter like this one, where her safety was on the line, he hoped that she would trust him enough to do as he said.

Feeling Drews strong arms holding her made Lilith feel somewhat safer than she had two seconds ago. The fact that he let her sob into his shirt was good too. She listened to him tell her what to do and she pulled away a little bit, shaking her head. "I couldn't intrude on you like that..." She looked at the mess of her apartment. Why trash the place? She fell her fear rise up again, and she took a couple of deep breaths, trying to get herself under control.
Soaking up some of the heat from Drew, knowing that he was tense, but needing his strength currently. He took charge, which was what she needed. She finally acquiesced to what he wanted, nodding slightly. "Ok, Drew." She stepped away from him, feeling the chill of fear as she walked closer to her bedroom. Stepping in, she saw her clothes scattered over the floor. The bed was clean though, neat, with two boxes set in the middle. She stopped, her eyes widening.
Slowly stepping to the bed, she looked at the two boxes. One was black velvet, the other was dark cherry wood. The black velvet was about the size of a small jewelry box and she picked it up, opening it. The first thing she saw was a note.
Meet me a week from Friday, outside the cemetery at the darkest hour, wearing this, and I'll make all your dreams come true. You will find that, with time, you will love me.
~T
Looking at the contents, she gasped. It was the biggest blue gemstone on a chain of silver. It must have been worth a fortune and she set the box down. What was in the wood box then? It was bigger, about the size of a shoe box, and looked sturdy. Stretching her hand, she hesitated slightly, before lifting the lid. A scream left her lips as she saw the cat inside, covered in blood, it's heart pulled out and placed on top of the un-moving body. The screech brought the pounding footsteps of Drew, as she backed up, tripping over some clothes on her floor and falling backwards. She felt new tears stream down her face as she just pointed at the bed.
What the fuck was wrong with this guy?
She hadn't noticed, but there was a note taped to the inside of the lid of the box.
If you choose not to, this lovely picture will be a present for your boyfriend. Except it will be you. Your heart will be mine, one way or another.

Drew was devoting the scent to memory when he heard Lilith cry out, and he bolted to her side, his nails already beginning to transform before he realized that there was no danger. He forced himself to relax, although the heavy stench of death was wearing away at his sense of calm. Crossing the room in a couple of strides, he read the note and closed the box before she could see it. A growl built deep in his throat at the threat that the unknown man had issued, and an unholy fury made black fur rippled from his hairline down his neck before receding again. How dare this man try to stake a claim on Lilith? How dare he frighten her, and threaten her? One thing was certain: when Drew caught up with him, he would suffer pain beyond imagining.
"Clothes please, Lilith," he repeated himself, piling the boxes on top of each other. "I'll be in the alley. Meet me there in two minutes."
Walking around the room, he sniffed carefully, despite the stench of the dead cat in his hands. There was no fresh scent in the room, and as he walked back into the rest of the apartment, he could tell that there wasn't anyone still in the apartment. She would be safe enough while he took care of the grisly gift that the stalker had left. Locking the front door, he headed to the back door and walked into the alley. Sniffing around again, he looked for any trace of danger, and found nothing.
The rusted steel trash can along the back of the buildings would work for what he needed. Emptying it into a nearby dumpster, he put the two boxes in the bottom of it and looked back and forth one more time. Extending a hand toward it, he spoke a couple of words in the language of magic and set the boxes on fire. His eyes glowed as the brilliant blue flames brightened to a flame that was almost white, and the level of smoke diminished as the heat of the fire increased. The boxes disintegrated within a few seconds, leaving only the necklace lying in a glowing red trash can filled with ashes. Drew whispered another word and the heat drained away from the metal, until it was just as cool as before.
Leaning over, he picked up the silver chain and the blue gemstone attached to it, examining it with cold eyes. No doubt, it was worth a fortune. Yanking the gem off of the chain, he put it on the ground beside the can and crushed it with the heel of his work boot. The sharp crack was followed by a scraping sound as Drew ground it into powder and kicked the now-white powder across the alley. The silver chain in his hand went back into the trash can, among the ashes.
Once she was safe at his apartment, he would begin the hunt. And he wouldn't stop until it was completed.

Lilith looked up at Drew as he charged into the room, looking around. This was insane, this whole thing. Drew told her again to get her clothes together as he took both the boxes outside of the room. She had been scared. She was scared, of everything that was happening, and of the way Drew was able to take care of everything. She thought it was great, he was there, and able to help her, because in this situation she wouldn't know what to do, or how to act, or anything. She would have been some crazy nut, running to the police, and probably getting herself killed.
Stalkers never really happened to Lilith, and if they did, it was harmless. Usually by now they had gotten the hint and moved on to easier prey, but this guy. Looking at her hands, Lilith saw them shaking as she stuffed clothes carelessly into her bag. Grabbing it, she walked out to the ally, watching as Drew kicked some dust away. Dust? What did he do? It smelt like a fire and she touched the back of his arm. Lilith did not trust herself to speak at the moment, and silently, they walked to Drew's apartment.
The whole way, Lilith never let her hand leave Drews. He was this beacon of warmth in the darkness she felt closing in. She was terrified beyond reason, angry, upset, and a little pleased with how Drew had immediately stepped up for her. She was a ball of different emotions, and more than anything, she was afraid if she opened her mouth to talk, she wouldn't talk, she would scream, and she wouldn't be able to control the emotions running through her.
Stepping into Drews apartment was like a breath of fresh air and familiarity. She felt Drew drop her hand and turned to him. It wasn't hard to see the anger in his eyes and she felt tears well up in hers. She just wanted him to hold her and tell her it was going to be ok. She really didn't want to do anything but crawl into bed, and feel his strong arms around her. It was the one thing that made her feel safe right now. "Drew...." Lilith felt her voice crack, her arms instinctively moving around his waist.
He was like a fire to her, bright and warm and safe, in a black forest of death and emptiness.
Keeping her face against Drew, Lilith willed herself to be more than just a sobbing mess. "Drew..we should go to the police..or something.....I...He...." Words were becoming harder and Lilith decided clamming up might be the best thing right now.

Once they were in his apartment, he carefully sniffed to ensure that no one had been there in his absence. There was only his scent, and her fainter stale scent. He'd yet to meet the creature that was able to hide their scent to the point that there was no trace of them, and he felt a little better about taking her here, now that it was clear that no one had been here like they had been at her place. Closing the door behind her, he locked and deadbolted it. She moved closer, and he wrapped his arms around her gently, forcing himself not to squeeze. The thought of this psycho hurting her was one that made him furious, and it was difficult to control himself when he was angry. But he kept his grip gentle as he breathed in her scent, reassuring himself with the thought that she was safe here, in his arms.
After a few moments, he pulled back and looked at her with eyes that were somewhat calmer. Much as he didn't like her being in danger, he had a few resources, and he would use them to keep her safe.
"What is this guy's name, Lilith?" he asked her, his voice quiet. "I have some acquaintances at work who should be able to help me put a stop to all of this."
At her response, he nodded once and opened his phone, heading into his bed room and kneeling at the closet as the phone dialed. The closet door slid open with a faint creak, revealing Drew's work uniform, as well as the gun safe that was in the bottom corner. The last thing he needed was for some intruder to get their hands on his service weapon, especially considering that he could defend himself fairly easily without it. His fingers typed in the key code as the ringer clicked, and he heard his boss's voice on the other end.
"Schultz?" the older man asked, sounding faintly surprised. Drew wasn't the kind to make social calls.
"I have a favor to ask, sir," Drew said without ceremony. "There's a man who's stalking my girlfriend. Making threats."
The older man's voice boomed in laughter as Drew pulled the pistol from the safe and closed the door with a small click. He stood again as his boss regained his composure.
"You finally find a girl, and she's already got a stalker? What luck you have, Schultz."
"The name is Travis McMullen," Drew said, displaying his characteristic lack of humor where his boss was concerned. "He works at Healthy Traveling magazine. Can you get me the info on him?"
"You prefer to handle things personally, I take it?"
Drew paused at the door, looking at Lilith for a long moment before answering.
"Yes."
His boss didn't answer for a few seconds, but Drew could hear his pen scrabbling on a pad of paper as the mob boss wrote down the information. As he worked, Drew moved to his night stand and put his gun there, as a precaution. If he wasn't at home, and the stalker came knocking, he wanted to be sure that she had some way to defend herself.
"I'll have something for you within 24 hours."

Lilith blinked, looking at his calm face. "Acquaintances? But...Drew we really should call..the...police..." Her voice faded as he walked into the other room. She sighed, watching him go into his room and then his closet. She chewed the inside of her cheek. What was Drew going to do? He was having a conversation with someone on the phone and she caught his gaze. Not long after that, he clicked the phone shut and she walked towards his room.
Her thoughts were in turmoil as she watched him place a gun on the nightstand. A gun. The fact that this whole thing came down to him pulling out a gun, she knew that he was a body guard and that he owned a gun, but it didn't sit well with her. She was not one for killing anything, not even adorable animals. She felt a cold shiver run down her spine and she looked at Drew, feeling tired. "Drew...Please...don't leave. Don't do anything stupid."
Lilith could hear her voice quiver. The gun was right there. And Lilith had to turn away, grabbing onto Drew. "Or...anything. Just stay with me...please.." The last thing she wanted right now was for Drew to even go into another room really without her. She had respected his phone call but she felt sick, tired, drained, and overall still terrified. Shivering, Lilith pressed against Drews warmth.
Lately, she had been very respectful that physical contact might not be his thing, but right now, all she wanted was the warmth he offered. She backed up a step, dropping her arms and sitting on his bed. Her fingertips went instantly to her tattoo, tracing the black lines. She looked at Drew, hoping that he wouldn't try to find this guy himself, but the feeling in her stomach was telling her otherwise. So she reached up, taking his hand and tugging it until he leaned down. Her lips found his. This. This was what she needed, something to calm or distract her or something. Something to keep him here, away from the psycho that was after her, not him.

Drew looked at her, lifting his eyebrows for a moment. "Stupid?" he repeated. "No. This gun is not for me to use, Lilith. This is for you to protect yourself while I'm looking for this guy."
The idea that Drew would need a gun to protect himself was laughable. The only reason he had it was to make his boss feel better, and to a lesser extent, to deflect questions about how he was meant to protect his boss without a firearm. He knew how to use one, sure, but he wasn't a big advocate of using them to kill people. His own kills had a much more personal touch, in that they almost always were done with his bare hands, or the fire powers that were an integral part of his psyche. How convenient it had to be to kill someone without ever having to touch them. Did it diminish the feel of it? Killing should never be without that feeling of responsibility.
And besides, he had to admit that shooting the man wouldn't satisfy the ferocious anger he felt deep inside at the thought of this man. No, he deserved to have the life choked out of him, with nothing more than Drew's bare hands.
"Do you know how to use a gun?" he asked her, lifting her chin gently. "If not, I can ask some people from work to look after you for a bit."
The fact that he was going after this guy was non-negotiable, and he didn't want to lie to her and say that it wasn't the case. After all, she hadn't read the note, and he wasn't about to tell her what it said, but he had made it clear that he had lethal intentions. There was really only one way to deal with that sort of person, and that was to be lethal in turn. He could never trust the police, knowing the sorts of connections that Axium had, and maybe that's why she didn't understand. She was still so naive. So trusting.
His neck tingled as her fingers traced the tattoo, and he worked to contain a shudder.
"Axium has people in the police," he told her, dropping his hand and his eyes from her face. "If you want to go to the police, I can't help you. They'll find me."

Lilith looked deep into his eyes, shuddering at the thought of using a gun, even if it was for just self defense. She closed her eyes, shaking her head a little. "I can't....I don't like guns...." She felt his hand drop, and her eyes popped open when he told her about Axium.
Lose Drew? There was no way...and she couldn't not be around him. She didn't want to think about what would happen if he wasn't right here for her. She did not want to even consider not having him in her life. If she went to the police, he would disappear. She quickly shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes again. Her face was already red from crying before, and she couldn't stand her face when it was blotchy.
Dashing the tears from her face, Lilith quickly wrapped her arms around Drew. "I don't want to lose you." She whispered into his shirt. She didn't care if he had friends look after her, but him going and taking care of this guy himself...that was absurd to her. She looked up. "I can't let you go by yourself. He is dangerous! He could hurt you..or something!! Please, Drew." Lilith gripped his shirt with her small fingers. "It will go away...I won't call the police but...I would rather be with you. I trust you. Drew." Her fingers traced up to his face. Her voice and eyes were pleading with him, she was willing to do anything to keep him right here, safe.
Lilith ran her hand down his jaw. What could she do to get him to not go after this guy. She didn't care how skilled he was in combat, or his powers, or anything, she just didn't want him to confront this crazy psycho-path. Like what if he really hurt Drew or worse! She turned around, letting her hands drop from Drews warm body and running them through her already wild hair. "Maybe....maybe I could meet with him. Maybe he could see reason." She looked at the mirror on the other side of the room, her eyes meeting Drew's in it. "I can convince him that what he is doing is wrong and that he just needs to find someone else...I can fix the whole problem..." She turned to Drew. Drew, sweety...I can help..." She lightly moved her fingers down his chest.
She could help, and do this. And screw that guy anyhow! She felt her fire returning and she was gonna get revenge. And if Drew told her no then she would sneakily take matters into her own hands!

"Then I will get some protection for you in the morning," he said, sighing as he wrapped his arms around her. "I am not leaving you unprotected. Not for a minute."
Pressing his face down into her hair, he breathed in her scent as he held her close. She couldn't understand just how dangerous this man was, because he wasn't about to tell her the threats he had made against her life, and yet he had to be certain that she would listen to what he said. To his knowledge, she had never before been in mortal danger, and she didn't understand the stakes. The thought of losing her was one that he didn't want to entertain. That was why he had to go, and why he couldn't let her see him again. But should he tell her that, and scare her more?
At her words, he huffed a laugh, a single hard note. She thought that this man was going to hurt him? He was far from invincible, as the scars across his skin said, but the man was only human. What could he really do to hurt Drew, if Drew was cautious? If there was anything that he had learned, it was caution. He would take no chances with his own safety, because if he was gone, who would protect her from this psychopath?
"Lilith, I appreciate the concern," he told her. "Really, I do. There aren't many people who have ever cared one way or the other. But you have to remember that I can protect myself. People have been trying to kill me for many years. No one's yet succeeded."
Letting go of her, he knelt down in front of her and kissed the hollow between her shoulder blades before looking up at her. Even kneeling, he was only a head shorter than she was, but the wolf didn't like the gesture. Kneeling was a gesture of surrender, and his wolf had never yet given into surrender. The man, however, was willing to beg on his hands and knees, if that was what it took for her to be safe.
"I need you to promise me that you will let me handle this," he said, taking her fingers in his large hands. "You stay away from this man. Promise me."
At her answer, he pressed his lips against her neck, his hands wrapping around behind her and pulling her close. Pressing his face to the smooth surface of her collar bone, he allowed himself to be relaxed by her scent, and the beat of her heart on his skin. He stood slowly, kissing his way up her neck as he pulled her slight form against him. The pair of them backed away, heading for the bedroom. The door closed hastily as Drew's heart began to race, and he hungrily drank in the wholeness of Lilith, and who she was...

Protection? Lilith did not want protection! Protection meant the man in front of her was going to handle things himself, not letting her help or anything. She wasn't going to allow that! She went to protest but closed her mouth as he told her how he had taken care of herself all these years. "But.." Lilith started, surprised when Drew kneeled down in front of her. He still was barely shorter than her and she felt a blush creep up when he kissed her on the small hollow between her shoulder blades.
His hands dwarfed her small ones. She blinked back tears. "I promise..." She hated lying to him and it made her feel awful inside. But what was she supposed to do?! He wasn't going to let her do anything and she had to do something! She wouldn't just sit here, waiting for something to happen to him or something to happen to herself.
It only took a second before Liliths thoughts regarding the matter fled as Drew kissed his way up her neck. His kisses her like hot fire on her skin, as she immediately plunged her fingers into his hair. Before she realized it, Drew had backed them into his bedroom, closing the door, and showing her the true meaning of fire.
[[FADE TO BLACK]]
Some hours later~~~
Lilith's eyes blinked open. She blinked against the darkness of the room, feeling the heat from the man behind her. A smile touched her face as she slowly turned around, her eyes adjusting to the dark, and traced the jaw of the man who had taken her to heaven and back again that night. She kissed his lips gently, froze as he stirred a little before he went back into a deep sleep. Her smile turned sad as she moved her naked body away from his, wishing that there was another way to do this.
Slowly getting out of the bed, Lilith gathered her clothes, walking into the living room. She had shut his door as gently as possible, and moved to her duffel that had all her other clothes. Quietly, she pulled on her under garments before grabbing a pair of jeans and a pink t-shirt. She also had a pair of pink skate shoes. She wasn't about to wear heels if she had to make a run for it. Lilith had never moved around someone's apartment so carefully before as she finished getting dressed. She stopped at the kitchen counter. Should she leave him a note....She didn't want him to think anything had happened to her...after all this was all her idea. She grabbed a piece of papers, writing a quick note ~~
Drew,
You are amazing, but I can make this all go away. Don't worry about me, I'll stay safe. I still think about that first night we met...I'll see you soon.
Yours Always,
Lilith <3
She felt a tear drop as she grabbed her purse with her car keys and locked the door behind her. The early morning air was crisp as she bounded down the stairs, booking it to her car. She felt like she was doing something so wrong but she had no choice. Fixing her hair real quick by running her fingers through it, it wasn't as wild as it had been and she touched up her makeup with the stash she kept in the car, feeling confident she called up Travis. She still had his number from the million and one calls.
"Ah, Lilith. How nice it is to hear from you.
Cringing at his voice, Lilith cleared her throat. Be confidant! "Travis, we need to talk. Can you meet me. Now. At the cemetery." Lilith didn't enjoy meeting him in a private place, but knew he wouldn't have wanted to meet in a public place. She just hoped it wouldn't be any trouble to make a quick escape like she was planning, and also that Drew might get the hint in her note of where she was going. She knew he would be steaming mad when he woke up, but what was she supposed to do, let him take care of this? It was her problem.
A harsh laugh came over the phone. "I knew you would see reason, my love. I'll be there soon." The phone clicked, indicating he had hung up and Lilith suppressed the need to vomit at the thought of him calling her 'his love'. It was gross. Her mind flitted back to just a few hours before, to Drew and the fire he had ignited in her. She sighed, starting her car and driving to the cemetery.

The sun had risen nearly to its apex in the sky by the time that Drew began to awaken, but he sat up in alarm as he realized that he was alone. Her scent, although heavy in the room, had already begun to go stale, which meant that she hadn't been there in a few hours. His heart pounded in his chest, driving any tiredness far from his thoughts as he leaped out of bed and went from room to room, looking for her. She was gone. Had the man somehow gotten in without waking him up? No, his scent was nowhere in Drew's apartment. It took him almost a minute to realize that there was a note, and he read it with growing alarm, his jaw tightening with every word.
She had lied to him. Right to his face. And now the lunatic probably had her.
Praying to a God he didn't believe in, he dressed at top speed. Her scent was easy to follow until he got to the street, where the car exhaust and mingling of a hundred other scents dispersed it somewhat. He growled to himself, sniffing the air as he tried to determine which direction she had gone. It was faint, but... there! He started to jog in the direction where her scent had gone, toward her apartment. Could she really have gone back to that place? He reached the end of the scent at an empty parking spot, and he looked around in a panic. Her car was missing from the neat little line that usually sat in front of the building.
"Lilith!" he roared, earning a few stares from passersby as he paced in place, looking for her. "Lilith!!"
He couldn't follow her scent any further. With his heart racing, he pulled the phone from his pocket and selected one of the two phone numbers, Lilith's. The tone pulsed five times before it went to voicemail, and he cursed vehemently, hitting the END button. Dialing the other of the two numbers, he called his boss.
"Ahh, Schultz," the older man's voice answered, sounding satisfied.
"Did you get that work-up?" Drew asked, trying not to sound frantic, and failing.
"I did," Marconi confirmed. "We'll discuss trading favors later, but if you want the intel, it'll be at the normal drop point."
"Thank you, sir."

Arriving at the cemetery, Lilith stopped the car, pulling out her keys and getting out. The night air brushed against her skin, causing goosebumps to rise on her flesh. She chewed the inside of her cheek as she waited. She was crazy, this was insane. But...if it was the only way to protect Drew. It was the only thing she could do. She looked at her hands, tears blurring her vision a bit as she thought about last night and the magic that had been shared between her and Drew. She remembered his hands on her as another car pulled up. She froze, not daring to move as Travis got out.
He was just as she had remembered, dirty blond hair, cut neat. He was a few inches taller than her but didn't tower over her like Drew did, then again no one could tower over people like Drew. He was wearing a white button up shirt over some jeans. She still didn't move as he smiled at her, his eyes raking over her body. She shuddered. "Lilith. My darling, how nice it is to finally see you again. You are just as beautiful as I remember." He stepped toward her, his fingers moving down her cheek.
Closing her eyes, Lilith flinched back from his touch. It was cold, not warm like Drews. Peeking over at him, she saw his eyes turn angry. "You will accept this. Or you will lose everything you hold dear, including your own life." Lilith felt fear course threw her as Travis pinned her body against her own car. Before she could figure out what was happening, a rag was over her mouth and she descended into blackness.
====
Lilith heard the call of birds, and felt rays of sunshine hitting her face. She blinked, her head feeling foggy. Where was she? What had happened? She frowned as the night came back to her. Drew and her...and then what she had done. She looked around. She was in a bedroom, laying on a queen bed decorated with a red comforter and white pillows. Most of the furniture was white, and the walls were a rose red. She frowned, slowly crawling out of the bed, her head pounding. It was like she had had too much to drink, and was paying the consequences.
On the table was some water and she quickly drank some. Where was Travis? As she explored the room, the door opened, Travis standing in it, filling it. She looked at him, her eyes turning dark. "Where am I?" She held the defiance in her voice as Travis moved further into the room. "My house of course. This is your room. Everything will be fine as long as you follow the rules exactly." He looked at her, a gleam in his eye that Lilith did not feel comfortable about at all. "I took the liberty of getting rid of your cell phone. Didn't need anyone in particular knowing where you were. I'm sure if you hope your boyfriend is gonna come get you, you are sorely out of luck. I have a small army, armed to the teeth to protect you from him, and all the dangers of the world. That is if he can find you."[/font] He stepped a couple steps closer to Lilith.
She could smell his cologne, making her gag a little bit. "What now...I came to you." Travis smiled, his hands moving up her bare arms. She was still in her clothes from the night before and that was one of the small things she was grateful for. She shuddered at his cold touch, trying to back up a bit. "That is simple, love. We will live together forever. You will be my wife. All will be well." He grip tightened on her arms painfully, and she gritted her teeth against the pain. "You are mine, Lilith. No one but me will touch you." His voice was harsh, and his eyes angry with a gleam that indicated he wasn't completely sane. She blinked away the tears forming in her eyes as Travis let go, a smile returning to his face and he turned and left the room. What had she done? What was she going to do. She heard the door lock and slid to the ground.
A few hours later, lunch was delivered, but not by Travis, but a bigger guy, who was bald. He was bigger than Travis, and wore a black suit. She could see an earpiece as he put the tray on the small table before leaving the room. Lilith had found she was on the third floor of a house in the countryside. She also had seen the men across the lawn, guarding her. She sighed, picking at her lunch. She wasn't very hungry. Lilith pulled her hair up in to a pony tail with one of the scrunchies she had found in her exploration and crawled into the bed, thinking of a very warm body that she had been curled up to not 24 hours previously.
She was that way when Travis once again came into the room. The orange rays from the sunset were bathing her room as Travis moved to the bed. "My love, do not cry. You will be happy." He sat on the bed, wiping the tears from Lilith's cheeks with his thumb. He leaned in and her eyes widened as she pushed him away, jumping off the bed and careening into the wall on the other side. In an instant he was there, holding her body against the wall. "You will not disobey me." He grabbed her face painfully, planting a very gross, wet kiss on her lips. Her brain screamed, flinching away from the contact. He pulled away, throwing her to the ground. "When I come back tonight, you better be willing." With the he strode off, leaving Lilith on the ground, tears streaming from her eyes as the bruise started forming on her face.

Drew had never expected for Travis to hold her at his family's old house. The very arrogance of it. He could see the yard from his vantage point on the dilapidated church roof, which was another piece of irony that was adding to his ambient level of annoyance. There were men scattered across the property, but from this place was too out in the sticks for any neighbors to notice anything odd. Or maybe this wasn't an unusual occurrence. From what Travis had done so far, it wouldn't have surprised him, even if it did piss him off. The only mercy was that he had seen a couple flashes of Lilith's orange hair at one of the upstairs windows. Knowing where she was would help him get her out with minimal danger to her getting hurt. And it meant that the maniac hadn't killed her yet.
Lowering the binoculars, he looked down at the file that his boss, Salazar Marconi, had left for him. This place had been the only place left when Drew had ruled out Travis's apartment, which had taken all of a minute and a half, plus a few broken doors. A taxi ride had gotten him most of the way here, though he'd jogged the last five miles or so. One of the benefits of his wolfish DNA was the endurance that the predator used to bring down its prey. And these men were very much his prey now.
He made his way down to the ground floor, careful not to break the old wood any more than necessary. He hated to delay getting Lilith out by even a second, but if he was going to get close, he would have to wait for it to get darker. His black t-shirt would stick out in a hay field, regardless of how slowly he took it. So he waited. Kneeling in the tall grass, he kept the binoculars close, watching for any changes. The men were all in constant communication from the earbuds that they kept in place. He would have to be quick. There would be no coming in like the wrath of God, just subtlety. Whatever his strengths were, he was not bulletproof, as his scars proved.
Evening fell, and with it the shift change moved some of the outside guards inside, perhaps to rest. No one seemed to be going home. What, did he host his own security company? It was unnatural.
The darkness gave him cover as he made his way through the grass, heading for the outer perimeter. The men were professionals, it seemed, having established a perimeter that they checked on a regular basis. Finding a place outside of the ring of spotlights that were lighting up the more neatly cut lawn, Drew watched one of the guards' approach. The man didn't even have time to scream as Drew struck, the tips of his fingers erupting into claws that sank into the man's throat. He dragged the man away before the spotlight could light them up, watching the life fade from his eyes as he choked to death on his own blood.
Drew only removed his hand when he was certain that the man was dead, crouching in the tall grass beside the new corpse. Patting it down silently, he pulled the combat knife from the man's belt and put it on his own. If it all ended in gunfire, Drew wasn't sure he would survive. Best to keep it quiet.
Two more guards fell before anyone realized that there was someone missing, the bodies strewn in the overgrown grass outside of the perimeter. Drew was as silent as he was deadly, with his speed and precision preventing his targets from putting up any kind of fight. Blood dripped from his fingertips as he pulled the earbud from the last one's ear. He wiped it on his t-shirt before putting it in his ear.
"--ere is Salvador?" the voice was saying. "He was on perimeter this hour, and he's not checking in. Someone go find him."
"Sir, he's not here," another voice answered. "He's not anywhere."
"Bullshit, he's not anywhere!" the voice snarled in response, the rise in volume making Drew grit his teeth.
Pulling the earbud out again, he crushed it between his fingers and cleaned his knife in the grass, wiping the red off of each side before sheathing it again. He looked up to the third floor, wondering if Lilith was still there. He'd not had time to keep watch on the window while he was hunting outside. He catch a whiff of Lilith's scent every now and again, but it was Travis's stench that was heavy on the property, and Drew knew that he had spent a good deal of time here. That meant that Drew was at the disadvantage, because he didn't know the terrain as well as the enemy.
It wouldn't matter in the end. Drew would watch relish killing him in the end.

Lilith sat on her bed, contemplating her fate. She couldn't openly reveal to Travis she was a supernatural. So distracting him with her fire wasn't the best idea. She looked around her room, what could she do? Getting up, she paced to the window, looking at the beautiful country side. On any other day it would be perfect...on any other day with Drew. She felt tears prick her eyes again and she wiped them away furiously. She shouldn't cry, she chose her fate to keep Drew safe.
That didn't mean she was going to give in so easily to Travis though.
Her jaw still hurt from where he had held it earlier in the day, and she absently rubbed the bruise there. At least Drew wasn't going to see her like this. Her arms were also bruised she had discovered when she had finally changed out of her clothes. There was nothing else to wear but what was in the closet provided for her...and those outfits left little to the imagination, causing her to put her dirty clothes back on. The sun was just barely beginning to set as Travis walked into her room. She turned from the window, crossing her arms and staring at him defiantly. He just smiled his creepy smile, closing and locking the door behind him. "My pet, are we ready to behave." He reached out a hand to caress her face and she slapped his hand away.
Wrong move, Lilith noted as Travis's eyes grew dark with anger and he suddenly grabbed her red hair, pulling her head back. She gave a cry of pain, gritting her teeth. "That is no way to treat your future husband. I will kill you if you keep doing this." Lilith whimpered in pain, her brows furrowed together. "Screw you." That little remark earned her a full on backhand to the face, causing her to fall to the ground. She felt blood pool her in her mouth and she spit it out, wiping her lips. Her cheek was starting to swell already when Travis grabbed her by the hair once again, and dragged her out of the room.
Lilith cursed him the whole way down the stairs, stumbling and falling just to be dragged back up. She cried out in pain as he dragged her through the house, down some more stairs and into the basement. There was mostly storage here but there was one room that had nothing in it. It was just a windowless room. He threw her in it, closing the door and locking it behind him. Lilith scrambled backward, her hands reaching for the top of her head as Travis stalked toward her. "You little bitch. You will succumb to me or you will die." He grabbed her arm, pulling her up and flipped out a knife. "Better hold still." The glint she had caught in his eye before was now full insanity as she tried to scramble backwards just to freeze as the knife tip touched her stomach. He grinned, using the knife to cut the thin material of her shirt, and then the middle of her bra. Her arms instinctively went to cover what was exposed just to feel his knife make a thin cut on her stomach.
Gasping with the new pain, Lilith tried to catch herself as Travis threw her to the floor, climbing on top of her. Pinning her arms with one hand, he used the knife to move the scraps of fabric off her chest. Lilith felt hot tears running down her face, shame evident there as Travis drank in the site before him. Was this really how it was going to end for her? What was she going to do. A ringing suddenly interrupted, causing Travis to swear as he sat up, pulling out his phone.
"What? What the fuck! I pay you guys too good for this....well kill him then! Kill him or I'll make sure you will not live to see the next morning! And don't interrupt me again!!!" Travis threw his phone at the wall, going back to the task at hand. Lilith blinked. Him? Were they talking about Drew? Had he found her? New hope lighted up in her eyes, only to be traded for anger when Travis saw this and slapped her. "He will not get to you, slut. You got that? Even if he does, I'll have already done what I needed to make sure no one ever looks at you the same way again." Travis stood up, unzipping his pants.
Lilith felt anger surge through her. Drew was supposed to be safe!! And Travis was not going to hurt him...She glared at him, causing his pants, right near that special area, to start to singe and catch fire. He swore, beating it out and she did it again with his shirt. He looked at her, disbelief in his eyes that turned to rage, lunging at her with his knife. She rolled, barely and he only grazed her arm, but it was deep enough to cause blood to flow freely. She let out a cry of pain as her hand immediately went to her arm.
Travis took that opportunity to lunge at her, pinning her to the ground. She looked up at him, tears flowing down her face. Kicking, screaming, biting. She was trying everything to get him off, but it wasn't working as Travis just gave her a grin, making her succumb to him. You could hear Liliths screams echo in the basement.
====[fade to black]====
Some time later, which had to be only some minutes but to Lilith it felt like hours, Travis gave her a final slap to her face, moving off of her. By now she was crumpled on the ground, her clothes shredded. She had multiple cuts over mostly her midsection and back. Bruises were starting to form where he had hit her. She just laid there. She felt dead inside. Drew wouldn't want her now. What was the point. "There you go, know your place, whore. I'll come down and take care of you later." Travis left, leaving Lilith to sit in her own blood. She wasn't crying anymore, she was just there. "Drew..." She whispered, grasping for something that had meaning in her life.
--
Travis walked up the stairs, just to see frantic men running all over the place. What was going on?
