I am a lion and i want to be free
do you see a lion when you look inside me?
Narissa May brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. It had fallen forward from its place tucked away neatly behind her ribbon head band, as had most of the remaining hair. She walked with a hand supporting her left elbow, and a limp also on her left side. Narissa wasn't sure what the reasoning was this time her fellow peers had gotten physical, but it didn't matter. The red head's wounded arm raised a bit to feel the tender bruise on her cheek. It was likely the teen had a fracture in her cheekbone, elbow, and hip, but again, it didn't matter. It would heal. It always healed. Narissa despised her body, how weak her bones were from the diseases she'd been forced to carry all her life , but it was the only body she had. There was no changing that. She held a burning contempt for it, though -- most of all for the inability to do what she was made to do. Shapeshift. It was a part of her that she couldn't reach. She wasn't just this human body. Not entirely.
Narissa coughed, feeling an onset of another croup episode. She'd dealt with the burden that is her immune system since birth, and this sort of thing was nothing new. Narissa May knew it was really only fair... She had a physical strength that went beyond superhuman. In turn, her body just couldn't handle itself. Her muscles tore easily, her bones shattered at the drop of a pin, and her immune system? Well, there was nothing there. Especially to protect her lungs, there was no salvation. On cue,the little red head released a barking cough into her fractured arm out of habit, the jerking motion wreaking havoc up the entire upper left side of her body. "Son of a bitch," she mumbled. Narissa May cleared her throat and continued her defiant limp out of the school before anymore students decided to shove her into walls. It was hell, being a supernatural in a school of humans. Narissa's senses could detect other supernaturals, but they were certainly outnumbered by the humans. She couldn't do anything to defend herself against them, because she couldn't let anyone know she wasn't human.
So what the fuck else was she going to do?
She had to let them beat the shit out of her. It didn't help that Narissa egged them on, either. She didn't care how badly they hurt her. They weren't going to get the best of her. Narissa May was a Cole, for God's sake. She'd be a shame to her siblings if she let words and bruises bring her to shambles. After everything they'd been through? After dealing with the same bullshit from her parents? Fuck that. Narissa May Leijona Elaine Cole was more than that. So, the seventeen-year-old trudged on, ignoring the bruises and the pain, because she'd been through worse. Hell, a fucking half-cyborg boy fell on top of her and shattered three of her ribs and tore her shoulder and knee. On accident. And Nari had just made a joke about being a bowl of Rice Krispy treats. Narissa May knew exactly what she was, and what she deserved. There was no use crying in pain. It was relative, and she also knew that. The little kitty-cat girl adjusted her ribbon and skirt and moved forward at a steady pace, into the woods. It was the quickest way to get home... Or, at least, away from the school.
When the sun peaked through the clouds above, Narissa May felt a smile creep across her features. It was finally beginning to feel like a nice day, and she perked up a bit. Not entirely able to walk properly through the woods, she still felt at ease listening to the animals sing and seeing the sun shine. In the midst of her travels, she detected an eerily... Doggish scent. It halted Narissa the moment it crossed her path. She knew it all too well, that smell. It was one part human, and one part... Hellhound. Looking over her shoulder to ensure she was out of the view of the school, the petite red head unsheathed the nine-inch metal claws from her fingerless gloves. She wasn't going to be able to run from it, but she would certainly fight it.
Holding back another cough fit, Nari's bruised face reddened and olive eyes watered from the effort. Her throat was itching horribly, and her abs were burning, but she held back the cough. She had to be on alert. Narissa walked backward toward her home, cold olive eyes darting around her vicinity. She felt her heart begin to race, so much so that it was all she could hear; the pounding of her own heart in her tiny ears. She knew what hellhounds were capable of, and as long as it wasn't in its animal form, Narissa could keep her anxiety at bay. If it wasn't? Well... Narissa May Cole was good old-fashioned fucked.can you hear the words? it's all i can say
i am just a lion, a lion i will stay

He should not be here. Just being in a place like this made Garm feel uneasy. Not out of fear though. No. Garm was not a beast that was easily frightened. Garm feared nothing. But being in such a place brought back memories that he didn't like to deal with. Dark memories of a human boy that no longer existed in this world. So why was he here? Honestly it was all by chance. Today was one of those rare times that Garm had the energy to bother to come outside in broad daylight. Garm was a creature of the night by choice. Hellhounds were not bound to one specific time of day like most creatures but he preferred it. It was easier to deal with the outside world during the night. There were less humans to encounter and he was more free to roam and hunt in his true form as much as he pleased. But even a demon of the night like him could enjoy the sunlight every once in awhile. While the sun still shone brightly in the sky the fearsome hellhound fetched his loyal minions had went off to explore more of the city. There were still so many places that he had yet to see and he wanted to see everything the city had to offer. Somewhere on his travels the young terrifying beast stumbled onto this dreaded place, one of the few loathsome places he never wanted to see every again.
School...
He hated schools with a passion. It was the single worse place he had ever been to in his life. It had been so long since he had last been to school, but he could still remember all the crap he had to endure as the awkward child he had been. All the teasing, harassment, and physical violence he faced at the hands of humans that didn't understand him. He was still just as tough back then as he was now. He could take a beating well without feeling much pain but it still bothered him. A scowl formed on his brooding face as the memories came back. He wished he had not found this place in his travels. He refused to let the ominous presence of this foul place ruin his mood. He would make the most of his little trip. As the dark figure walked past the main building he found a section of woods nearby to traverse. This was the perfect spot to rest for awhile. Garm didn't really need the rest but the Dark Devas of Destruction needed to burn off some energy as well. “Devas.” The instant he spoke four furry rodents poked their heads out of their hiding spots. “I give you leave for now to roam. Do as you will but stay safe, and return when I call you.”
Garm watched the hamsters scamper off. A small smile returned to his face while they went off on their own. At least they were happy with his findings and for the moment that was all that mattered. Garm leaned against the nearest tree, with his arms folded across his chest he looked back at the building in the distance. “I wonder if she'd be upset that I stopped going there.” It had been a few years since Garm had stopped going to school. After his mother had died he never finished his highschool education. It never bothered him much that he didn't. He made enough money from selling his endless broods of small creatures that he didn't need a higher education. But his mother had always pushed him to continue going. He never understood why she did it. Maybe it was her way of trying to give him a future in the human world? He would never know now. She was gone, and just like her short fragile life his days playing human were gone too.
A sudden warning squeak from Vishnu pulled Garm out of his thoughts. He could tell right away from the tone of the call that Vishnu wasn't in any danger, but it was a warning to his master that there was something out there that was coming his way. The man sighed as he turned and carefully headed in the direction of his minion's call. He was not in much of a mood to do battle in such a place, especially so close to humans, but he would not hide from whatever it was that lurked here. Whatever danger lurked around him Garm was strong enough to face any challenge that came his way. That was what he did. The dark aura that surrounded his very being amplified as he inched closer to the threat ahead of him. What dared to approach him this time? Was it another hound? A warrior angel perhaps? Or a demon?
It wasn't any of those this time. This time it was...a...girl? Garm stopped in his tracks when he spotted the tiny female before him. He wasn't sure what to think about this for a moment. He could see the brusies, the awkward limping as she walked, and the claw. That had to be the reason why Vishnu sounded so worried when he heard the call. He did not know what to think about that. It was then that he caught the woman's scent. This was not the smell of a human but of a... “Cat.” Garm met her gaze as he addressed her. She didn't look like a feline but he could smell that familiar scent clinging to her form. Perhaps she was a shifter, or some sort of feline supernatural. He wasn't opposed to her kind despite being what he was. Cats were interesting creatures, their nature was harder to understand at first than his canine counter parts but he had earned the respect of most of their kind in the past as they had his. “You should be careful when unsheathing your claws at strangers. It would be unwise to start unnecessary fights with strangers...especially in your condition.” Garm watched the little feline over slowly, watching her every movement like a hawk in case of an attack and to assess her physical condition. She did not look good. Even if she was a stranger Garm never liked to overlook an animal in distress. “Are those claws aimed at me, or the ones that did this to you?” He didn't even need to ask what happened. If his intuition was right then he knew that she had gone through the same things he did in the past.
