APPEARANCE
Drew is a massive man, about 6'5", weighing in about about 300 pounds. Aside from his additional musculature, his wolf splicing has given him heftier and denser bones that have allowed him to grow taller than he otherwise would have. His black hair is black and spiky, serially untidy. His skin tone is dark and unmarked by freckles, though he has a mole on the small of his back. Because of the experimentation, the escape, and the subsequent fighting, his dark skin is marked by scars in many places, not least of which is a thin scar across the bridge of his nose. He also has a couple of slashes on the side of his neck from a pair of bullets grazed him. His eyes, which were originally a pale brown, became much darker with the splicing, and glow pale blue when he uses magic. He tends to wear a black tank top and blue jeans, but when he is at work, he always wears a black suit. The magic that gives him his fire power also make his skin impossible to brand, but he has the barcode tattoo on the back of his neck, which designates him as AE2466513.
His wolf aspect is a change to his physicality that becomes exaggerated when he is upset. His canine teeth grow, his ears become pointed, his eyes become amber in color, and he grows black fur along the back of his face and neck, as well as along his spine. At the final stage of this, his fingernails also grow into claws, and his muscles grow, but this level of transformation is extremely painful and difficult to control. Oftentimes, he doesn't remember his actions when he loses control to this extent.
PERSONALITY
Drew is a person of vast duality. His baseline personality is that of a musician, quiet and introspective. He was originally very shy and kindhearted, but this aspect of his personality was changed by the implementation of lupine DNA, which makes his mind more prone to violence than he would have been otherwise. He is still a very capable guitar player, but he is no longer the personable man he could have been, if his life had turned out differently. Instead, he tends to avoid others when he is off of work, trusting no one that he has not investigated beforehand. He is a naturally patient man, which allows him to control the aggressive side to his instincts better than a lesser man could have, but he is quick to violence when he feels that he is in danger. Observant to a fault, he appears calm on the outside, but can be jumpy if he is approached unexpectedly.
Among others, Drew is a natural leader. His size and persona allows him to give the impression of authority easily, which aids him in his line of work, but it also creates a personal barrier between him and friendships that he might have formed with those who are intimidated by him. He is very protective of the people around him, and is likely to put himself on the line to protect innocent bystanders. In combination with his size, his personality makes it difficult to stay hidden, because he cannot stand by when someone is about to get hurt.
SPECIES
Human (Experiment): Drew was born as a fire wizard, and his instinctive ability with this type of magic was what attracted the attention of the Axium Corporation. As a very small child, it became clear that he was immune to flame and heat. Using the spells that he learned from the scientists and his mother, he is able to control fire to a high degree. The DNA that was spliced into him as a toddler is lupine, meaning that he has wolf DNA spliced into his body. This wolf DNA gives him enhanced strength and durability, as well as granting him the wolf aspect that is a sort of rage mode. It has also changed his personality, heightening his instincts and making him more aggressive.
ABILITIES
- Fire control / immunity: Using words of magic, Drew is able to create and control fire. Usually, he uses his limbs to add force to the flames when he is using it offensively, but this is not necessary if he is angry or has enough focus. Even without using any words at all, he is immune to fire and heat of any kind.
- Enhanced strength: The wolf DNA has given him both denser muscles and denser bones, which means that he will sink like a rock if asked to swim, but he has far more strength than a normal human. He has almost the same level of strength as a true werewolf, but he lacks the accelerated healing of a true werewolf.
- Enhanced speed: Drew's speed far exceeds that of a human or even a werewolf. Although his strength is helpful in a fight, he relies more on his speed to take out his opponents quickly.
- Wolf aspect: Drew can take on the wolf aspect voluntarily, but more often it is the result of high emotion. It expresses itself in giving him more wolfish features, such as fangs and claws (and fur), but he can lose control of himself in this form. Sometimes, he does not remember what he has done when in this form.
- Enhanced senses: The wolf DNA also granted him enhanced senses, particularly an enhanced sense of smell and hearing. He sees particularly well in the dark. In wolf aspect, this effect is exaggerated.
[li]Water: Drew is completely incapable of swimming, and contact with water can be very painful to his skin. His powers cannot be extinguished as easily as a natural flame, but it still causes mental backlash that can be very painful for him.[/li]
[li]Rage Mode: When Drew is angry and enters his wolf aspect, he has little control over it. He cannot distinguish between friend or foe, and he rarely remembers what has happened. He is particularly vulnerable in this state, because he acts on pure instinct and doesn't think or plan out his actions.[/li]
[li]Sensory Overload: Because of his enhanced senses, bad smells and loud noises are very painful and jarring to him. He may shut down, or he may flee, or he may even enter his wolf aspect in order to get away from loud noise, in particular. It also makes it difficult for him to focus.[/li]

HISTORY
Drew was born in a small town in Texas, the son of Maxwell Schultz and Maria Schultz. His mother, Maria, was a second-generation immigrant from Mexico, but more unusually, she was a fire witch who married a simple human farmer. From a young age, Drew worried his mother, who was afraid that he might take after her. Although her powers were great, she lived in fear of the burden that it would place upon her young son, knowing from experience that such power was often difficult to control. When he began to spontaneously create smoke at four years of age, she knew that she had to train him. Homeschooling him instead of allowing him to go off to pre-school, Maria worked with Drew to teach him how to control the power inside of him. By day, Drew would help his father work the fields, and sometimes would learn to play the guitar from his father, but by night he would train with his mother on the incantations that allowed him to wield his powers.
Maxwell was a simple farmer, descended from German immigrants who had come to the United States before the Dust Bowl, but his land was extensive, and his refusal to sell the land that his fathers had worked gained him some enemies, particularly the Pike family. This unfriendly business started out small, with them refusing small favors, but it grew rapidly to scaring off the farm hands and preventing the Schultz family from getting loans. Without the power of attorneys behind him, Maxwell could do little but do his best to keep out of the way of the Pike family’s path, since they had far more capital and big city lawyers to back it. The rivalry culminated in the attempt to burn down the Schultz family’s home.
In the dead of night, the eldest son of the Pikes, Redmond Pike, set fire to the small farmhouse where the Schultz family lived. Had the family been awake, they might have escaped the flames, and one of the two fire wizards in the family might have been able to stop it before it got out of control. As it was, the family didn’t wake until the entire first floor was already well on its way to engulfed. Maxwell died first as the smoke rose to their second-story bedroom. Maria desperately tried to get to her son, but the lack of air stopped her from being able to speak the incantations that could have put out the flames. When she reached Drew’s room, she tried to get the pair of them out, but the stairs had already collapsed. When the rest of the house followed suit, Maria died protecting Drew from falling debris.
By morning, the flames had died down and the fire department found Drew unconscious but alive, miraculously (from their point of view) unburned. The event made the papers, and attracted the attention of the Axium Corporation. They found him in the foster system and had their operatives legally adopt him before taking him to an underground facility as an experiment. At the time, their interests were invested in trying to create a subject that would surpass the werewolf, and they decided that Drew was the perfect subject. Erasing his past and memories with a trick of technology, they gave him the designation AE2466513, and spliced wolf DNA into his genome. Thanks to his fire wizard heritage, he survived the horrific experiments.
Thrilled with their success, the scientists began testing his abilities immediately. His wolf DNA prevented him from being able to become a true werewolf, and so they began to pit him against werewolves to see who would come out on top. After a few times of Drew being seriously wounded by this technique, they found an operative to train him in fighting. This operative, a werewolf himself, taught Drew how to protect himself, and how to use his newfound abilities. Although the operative would never give Drew his real name, he called himself “Virgil.” Virgil called Drew by his designation, like the scientists, but eventually took pity on the subject and told Drew his real name, under the condition that Drew would keep it a secret.
As the tests continued, Drew became more and more adept at fighting. He became more than a match for any werewolf they pitted him against, despite only being fifteen. However, the scientists realized that Drew would never reach his full potential in the area until they provided him with a teacher for his fire abilities. This teacher, a fire wizard himself, taught Drew about fire magic and trained him in its use. The scientists didn’t seem to realize how dangerous it was to train Drew for combat, considering that they believed he had nowhere to go and no notion that there was any other sort of life. They didn’t realize how much he hated them, or that he spent his nights planning how to retrieve his file and escape.
Drew did a good job of pretending to be the obedient soldier, to the point that the Corporation even considered contracting him out to the government for missions, but they were hesitant to let the government know the extent of their experiments, and the idea died out. Instead, they began to use him to put down other experiments that got out of control. He became their pet killer, and for a long time, he was afraid that it would be the only life he would ever have. For years, he did only what he was told, and endured medical tests that were meant to determine how he had been such a successful experiment when so many others had failed. He killed many other experiments who were either unsuccessful in accepting their new DNA or were deemed too unstable to continue.
He bided his time, until the chance came to escape. At 28 years of age, he finally managed to find his way to the records room and retrieve his file. Although the name of his hometown didn’t seem familiar, he knew that it was the place to begin his new life, even if he was an orphan, as his file indicated. He escaped that night, and he was long gone before the scientists even knew he had left his cell.
It took him a few months to locate the town where he had been born, and he found that his old land had been bought by the Pike family, in the absence of anyone left to claim it. Believing, however, that the Pike family had received the land because they were friends or relatives, he approached the farm to find out more about the life he had lost. The family was now headed by Redmond, who had burned down the house all of those years ago. Redmond, who didn’t know that Drew had lost his memories, accidentally admitted what he had done. Memories came flooding back in disconnected pieces. Rage came with it. Losing himself to the wolf aspect, he slaughtered Redmond and his elderly wife.
With that grisly sign of his presence, it didn’t take the Corporation long to track him down. In a shootout that left some dead, some wounded, and Drew seriously hurt, he managed to escape into the city. An underground doctor found him near death and nursed him back to health. Once Drew was healthy again, the doctor put him in contact with the crime boss who became Drew’s employer. Although he didn’t want to continue to kill people, he consented to act as a bodyguard for the crime boss, on the condition that the boss should run interference with anyone who was trying to find him.
This arrangement has worked well for the past few years, and it is in this situation that he still lives in an apartment by himself. Drawn to the guitar for reasons he can’t explain, Drew returned to music and plays whenever he gets the chance. His social life revolves around the criminal world, and he is well-respected as a bodyguard and as a fighter. As he is not the only fugitive in his circle, he is as safe here as he could be anywhere, provided he never tries to leave.
