Alex was glad she didn't have to go to work tomorrow, she really was. Having to remind movers to be gentle with a priceless pottery piece fifteen times or having to go over a inventory list to make sure everything was in order when someone else said they'd do it, was annoying and frankly ridiculous. Her time in human world let Alex see that humans had a tendency to be careless about their own things and it made her a bit sad. A little organization was all that was needed but even that seemed difficult for them. " It's no wonder the demons like lurking here. Easy prey. " she muttered to herself as she looked around from her position at the foot of the cathedral steps. The place was big and very beautiful. It reminded Alex a bit of home and how she would stay deep in libraries for days filing, sealing, imbuing, and categorizing scrolls and books. She was so innocent, thinking that what she was doing was aiding the grand scheme but it wasn't, at least not by much. Now Alex was living in the human world, helping them with their demon problems. Luckily places like this church were safe zones of sorts, demon free zones. But even Alex knew that one still had to be careful. You never knew when a monster might sneak up on you. She counted her ascent up the stone steps. One, two, three, four, five hard clacks from her silver stilettos and she at the top gazing at an open double door. However something caught Alex's eye causing her to shift attention away from the door and onto a display on one of the walls. It was colorful and distracting but nothing new, in fact she's seen this all over America. Colorful, bright, wacky, large words displayed on random surfaces. The sight bothered Alex and made her slightly raise her lip in disgust. The angel could never understand how humans could be willing to deface their own environment on purpose. Did they not value neatness? Alex shook her head, brushing away the question, then flicked her hand and suddenly the colorful display was gone. The woman continued her walk to the door and pushed it open with ease when her hand touched the iron double doors. What greeted the angel was a relaxing sight. The open corridor was dimly lit with gas lamps, giving off enough light to counter the dark. A gentle breeze danced about, cool and inviting. Alex made her way down the corridor, her heels echoing off the walls, until she came to a door that was slightly ajar. With a gentle push the door opened further to allow the angel entrance to a large room filled with seats. A pulpit stood at the head of the room. This was where the humans had worship ceremonies or services. The name meant nothing to Alex. Alex sauntered down the long stretch between the rows and came to a stop before the pulpit. Crossing one leg of her white pants in front of the other, Alex leaned forward and balanced against the stand. It felt nice to be able to let her guard down, even if it was just for a few minutes. Rebecca followed the woman in front of her with ease, the woman carried a scent that wasn't known to her. She was just far enough away so that she didn't alert the woman on her soft padded paws. She was in her flame point siamese form so that she was smaller and was able to act on her curiosity more easily.
Slipping into the door behind the woman and followed her into the church. She followed the woman through the church and up to the front, jumping up into the front pews before meowing, trying to get her attention. If it worked shed walk in a circle, trying to get her to come closer to see how much she could learn without shifting.

Churches were where the humans came to pray, specifically to the one called God. When Alex had first heard that she was very intrigued. Such small beings praying to her father, she'd never heard of something like that before. But the more she read their so called "holy books" and listened to them the more she grew in doubt. Yes, her father was powerful and could unleash wrath like no other but he didn't care what ideology one belonged, or so she understood. Did these humans know something about him Alex did not? Ridiculous! she silently barked before shaking her head full of ebony curls. With a soft click of her tongue Alex arched her back before raising off of the stand. She turned and that is when she heard a soft sound followed by the appearance of small creature on the front bench. The angel instantly recognized it as a cat but something felt off about it however whatever it was Alex didn't feel like pursuing it any further. This small little thing was not a threat. " Hello little one. " she cooed softly before slowly moving over to it. These little creatures were quick so Alex slowly reached out then quickly, but gently, picked up the small feline. Being careful not squeeze the delicate cat Alex positioned it in her head to where she could rub it's ears. " You know, I've contemplated getting an animal friend. " she told the kitten as if it could understand her. The idea of having a furry friend was something new to her. Being in the archives for days at a time, often, didn't leave her much time to take care of a pet. Training to fight was the same. Alex raised the cat up to look at it and noted it's white fur and creme markings. The cat's blue eyes seemed to shine with innocence but maybe that's because it was so cute. With a smile Alex let a wave of soothing energy wash over the kitten, then she lowered back down to place it on the bench next to her. She then fixed the small bundle of fur with a curious look. " I don't think you're what you seem to be. " she smiled before lightly running her finger over the cat's right ear. Rebecca L. Allen

Reba gave the woman a curious look and let out another soft mew as she was noticed by the woman. It was probably not normal to see a kitten in a church but she didn't care, and the woman didn't seem to either. She was slightly surprised when she was picked up but she supposed she did look like a kitten at the moment.
Reba mewed and started to purr, this woman was so nice. Sure she was being treated like an actual kitten at the moment but she really didn't care, it felt nice. The calming energy really wasn't necessary but it did add to the idea that this woman was kind and wasn't going to hurt her.
After the woman voiced the idea that she may not be what she seemed and lightly rubbed her ear Reba jumped down from the bench and stood in front of the woman while shifting. She was surprised it hadn't taken long for the woman to get it and Reba hoped that she wouldn't suddenly dislike her. In her human form the child wasn't exactly thin but she didn't have much weight showing either, probably from living on a cat's diet of mice for however long she'd been in this world.
"Hi, my name's Rebecca though I usually go by Reba or Becca. How'd you know I wasn't just a cat?" The seemingly four-year-old asked.

Alex relished the luxurious feel of the soft fur beneath her finger tips. She likened it to running her fingers over silk. " Such soft fur. " she mumbled with a smile while she lightly ran the backside of her finger down the spine of the little feline. Surprising Alex, she watched as the little cat jumped down and went to stand in front of her. Was it going to put on a show? She leaned back and waited, gaze patient and amused but then her expression changed. As the little cat's form shifted and stretched Alex's expression went from amused and patient to shocked and confused. Her eyes locked onto almost every action while the body before her morphed. It all started to come together. The reason why this cat felt odd was because...she was a little girl. A very young looking girl. If Alex hadn't known what the aura of a demon felt like she would've assumed that this child was one but luckily that wasn't so. And even if she were, Alex would have had difficulty with allowing her conscious to move past the 'child' part. Alex could never bring herself to harm a child, for what being of good would ever want to harm such an innocent? Alex inspected the little girl now standing before her. Human children were always so adorable to the angel but this girl was practically angelic. Pretty blond hair draped the child's head and the bluest eyes sat on a soft face. Why she could be a cherub if she were an angel. A big smile spread onto Alex's lips while her eyes went bright with endearment. When the girl spoke it only made Alex all the more attentive of her. " Well " Alex chuckled warmly " don't you just let it all tumble out in an introduction. " the angel smiled at the girl named Rebecca. Alex then crossed her legs and leaned forward to rest her chin in her well manicured hands. " Nice to meet you Rebecca. " Alex continued, using the child's full name due to her being just an acquaintance for now " I'm not quite normal myself. I can tell what's a human and what's not. One of the perks of being an angel. " Alex explained before letting out her wings in a flash of light. She stretched out her glowing appendages and gave them a flap, a feather falling onto the wooden pew, then she let them disappear. " Where's your parents hun? " Alex inquired as she began to lightly shake her raised foot. Alex could sense humans moving about the cathedral but she didn't hear any commotion or what could sound like a worried parent ,or parents, that were looking for their four year old little girl. Reba smiled at the angel and looked interested in what she had to say. All of this was quite new to the child and she was curious as could be. After all she did have somewhat of a cat's curiosity. The wings fascinated her and she started to reach out and touch them but they were gone before she could so she settled for picking up the feather and studying it.
The feather was pure white, unlike anything she'd ever seen, even white doves didn't have feather this white. She lightly ran her fingers over the feather and found it was soft too. She smiled as she held it in her small hands.
"Your wings are pretty," She said trying to ignore the question and the empty feeling from not even remembering her parents, she knew she had to answer though.
"I-I don't know," She said her voice faltering. "I remember tr-tripping and falling th-then I woke u-up in this city. I could re-remember my name and that I c-could shift into a c-cat but that's it," She said, voice slightly faltering at different points.

Alex nodded as the girl explained. The poor thing sounded so lost and the fact that it seemed like she didn't even have a home made Alex feel worried. Humans had orphanages, did she not live in one in New Orleans? The streets were dangerous for such a little one, the humans alone being a threat but the demons added another layer of danger. This bit of news bothered Alex greatly. She briefly looked away in thought and then went back to looking at Rebecca. " That's unfortunate. " and even though Alex's tone was calm one could still hear the honest sympathy in it. Alex began to think of solutions to Rebecca's situation but all of them would be difficult to execute. Humans had a complex and often frustrating system when it came to things like this. It made Alex mad and it all seemed pointless. Weren't the purposes of those groups to help children in need? All Alex seemed to see was greed. She'd often read about how merely adopting a child was a battle. All that money just to adopt. From what Alex had saw it seemed like the goal was more money for the agencies. A part of her brain kept stopping when thinking about this. It was caught up in the mindset of how Rebecca's circumstance shouldn't have happened but Alex had to keep reminding herself that this was Earth. When angels were born, they were in actuality made . A sentient mass of light given form and a purpose. Some angels were warriors while some were basic scribes, like Alex herself used to be. A very small amount were made to be angels of specific virtues and other things like death. Heaven did not have this issue of orphans. Hearing the girl's voice falter made Alex pull out her wings once more. Since the child liked them Alex thought having them out would cheer her up. " You don't have anywhere to go? It's very dangerous out there. " Rebecca L. Allen

Reba just nodded, unsure of what really to do. She was generally a happy child, she didn't let stuff get to her usually, but it just seemed weird that she couldn't even begin to remember her parents. Every time she saw a child with their parents she wanted to cry and wondered if that's how she had been at one point with her own. Now she didn't know what to do, other than just stay in her kitten form and hope she could find her way back home.
"T-that's why I s-stay in k-kitten form," She said, at least she had claws and teeth in that form.
Looking around then back to the angel she realized that her wings were out again. She reached forward with one hand, the one not already holding a feather, to touch one of the wings. She was so surprised by how soft one feather was that she wasn't to surprised at how soft a whole wing was. They were so pretty, they cheered her up a little but her mind was still on the empty places in ehr memory where she should have been able to remember her home and parents.

Alex nodded in understanding. " Smart move. " she winked at the little girl. Alex agreed that Rebecca would be much more safer as a little kitten tumbling through the streets. She was so little and so strength wasn't a weapon she had. There were nasty humans, as Alex had learned during her time on Earth, who had no issue with harming young ones. It made one of Alex's wings twitch slightly, the thought of someone hurting the little girl in front of her. The angel then shook her head, as if her mere disapproval would somehow will the Fates to give Rebecca a much better lot in life, but of course that wouldn't happen. But Alex was not one to give up, especially on children. Alex tapped the seat next to her beckoning Rebecca to sit next to her. " My name is Alexandria. Alex for short if you prefer. " she said while smoothing out little creases in her blouse. The sound of heavy footsteps came to Alex's ears even through the thick walls of the cathedral. The steps reached the doors to their room before stopping for a brief moment, then moving on down the open corridors letting Alex bring her full attention back to the child. " I wish I could help you find your parents little one. " the sentiment was genuine in it's intent. While Alex felt sympathy for little Rebecca she was finding it a bit tricky to empathize. From the very beginning Alex knew who her Father was. All angels were created with that knowledge prepackaged into their minds. With humans there seemed to be so many loose ends. So many things that could go wrong, as in the case of Rebecca. " You know, if you ever need anything you can always come to me. " Alex offered. This was something Alex very rarely did but in this case she felt it necessary. She had no idea what Rebecca ate or where she slept but it couldn't have been very good in terms of quality. Such a young child needed a stable environment. Rebecca L. Allen

Reba nodded at her words. “I saw someone, another kid, taken by some people who had tied they’re arms to they’re side after I first got here. I was hiding behind a dumpster in an ally, and I wanted to help but I knew I couldn’t, I didn’t have the strength to fight or anything, especially not multiple people,” She said slowly, she really wished she could have helped. “Since I learned that, I’ve just stayed in cat form unless I thought I could trust whoever was around me, like you.”
“Nice to meet you Alex,” She said with a small smile, her mind drifting back to her parents, or where in her memory she should be able to remember her parents. She wondered if life would be easier if she’d never gotten lost and she still remembered everything, probably would be. She watched Alex straighten out her shirt and looked down at her own messy cloths, not like she could really help how she looked. She listened to the steps quietly, hoping it wasn’t someone who would hurt or take her, the steps moved on though and her subconsciously tense stance relaxed. “You probably could help if I remembered anything,” She said slowly, evenly, she would not let this bother her any more right now.
“Thanks, but then you’d probably end up taking care of me to some extent. I mean, I have to hunt for food, and that usually means I have to settle for mice eaten in kitten form, and I sleep outside, usually curled into a furry ball in some ally somewhere,” Reba said, she might look four but her stubborn, and sometimes older acting, mind wouldn’t let her take food and shelter from someone just because they pitied her. Even if the person was kind and she could trust them, that just gave her a bigger reason not to take pity gifts in her opinion.
