Kazuko didn't like beeing in the open, even if she was still concealed a little by tall grass. This was one of the best places to catch rabbits which was all she has been managing to catch, it was better than starving completely. She however hadn't had too much luck today and the one rabbit that she'd seen had been a scrawny thing that she had wasted energy trying to catch.
She growled lightly at her luck, it was too hot for this! She should have already caught a good rabbit and been back under the cover of the woods that surrounded this place. She tried to stay still listening for any sign of movement, either from someone moving or from a meal hopping through the tall grass.

The forest was a fascinating place. Sariel had spent most of his time wandering the city of New Orlands since he had woken up in the human world. All of his time had spent exploring his surroundings and observing the locals both human and supernatural alike in his endless search to find meaning to his existence here. But today was the first time that he had ever been to the forest. Like many things this was a new experience for him. There were so many different sights, smells, and feelings the forest brought that he never experienced before in the city. There was a strange sense of peace that came with the place too. It was quieter here, though it was not without its own unique sounds. There weren't any cars and large crowds of people to drown out everything else, but their were plenty of animals making their own noises. The angel followed those sounds to observe the creatures that made them.
Just like people, Sariel found animals fascinating to watch. There were all sorts of creatures that lived in the forest. There were the birds of sky, the critters that lived in the trees, and all sorts of creatures that crawled on and beneath the earth. Each animal had some kind of role to play in this little piece of paradise, from the biggest regal predator, to the smallest meekest prey. Everything was where it should be, functioning as it should until it ceased to exist anymore. If only he could find what purpose he served. It had been almost a month since Sariel had wound up in the mortal world. When he woke up for the first time he had no memory of why he came here. He knew his name, he knew vaguely what he was, and he knew his heavenly father wanted him to be here. But why? He had been asking himself that question every day but he had yet to find an answer.
There had to be a reason why he was here. He searched every day, he observed as much as he could to find some kind of answer to that question. But alas he found nothing. Maybe today he would find a clue, maybe he could find that answer here? It was a long shot but it was worth the shot. Sariel took his time wandering about the forest, enjoy the sights and the feeling of the earth beneath his toes until he came upon a clearing. There wasn't a lot for him to see in the clearing, there were no trees to climb up in, or anything else worth looking at so he kept moving, keeping both his eyes and ears open for anything or anyone worth his attention.

Kazuko tensed, something was moving right for her through the grass, it didn't sound like another animal either, it sounded human. She stayed still, maybe it'd turn and never see her or something, she hoped. As it continued closer however she did the only thing she could think to, growl.
Slowly she started creeping backwards, low to the ground and ready to attack if need be. She could definitely kill another human if she needed to, she was afraid but she wouldn't louse her self preservation because of that simple fact.

Sariel's little journey through the forest was not likely to give him any answers to the questions that he held. The clearing was even less likely to give him those answers. But that didn't stop him from taking his time walking through the area. He took his time walking through, taking in all the sights. He would stop every once in awhile to play around with a blade of grass here and there, or stop to watch an animal go about its business. There were more animals lurking in the clearing than he thought there would be. He had thought there wouldn't be a lot of places for the creatures to hide away from danger but the tall grass was big enough for all sorts of creatures to hide in. Most of what he was was small animals anyway. There were all kinds of rodents, birds, and some reptiles. Most of them he didn't even notice at first until he came close enough for them to run away. He almost stepped on a snake by accident. He would mutter a quick apology to those he disturbed before he moved on.
As the angel was wandering around something caught his attention. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the grass moving. He turned his unblinking gaze in that direction. There was something here with him. He wasn't worried about what it was, most of the creatures he had seen so far had all been harmless, they were more afraid of him than he ever would be of them. He would have been content enough to just watch whatever it was pass on by like the others until he heard a growl. “Hm?” Well this was interesting. He never had anything growl at him before. What did he find this time? Whatever the creature was it didn't want to show itself, he could see it slowly trying to leave. This would not do.
In a blink of an eye Sariel would appear to vanish from where he stood, only to reappear behind the creature he had disturbed. “Ah, its a wolf.” Sariel knealt down before the beast. This was his first time seeing one before, just like everything else this wolf caught his curiosity. “Hello there. I'm sorry for intruding.” Sariel held his hand out towards the large canine as a form of greeting. He had seen humans present their hands to dogs and cats for them to sniff during his observations. It seemed to be a custom done to show animals that they could be trusted. If it worked for them it would work for him in this case. He'd wait to see what the animal did. He would love to observe the creature some more before it fled.

Kazuko couldn't tell that the person in front of her moved until she backed into him, she had been so focused on him being in front of her that she just hadn't been paying attention. She yelped and jumped forward, spinning so that he wasn't to her back. She continued to stay low to the ground, ready for an attack but none seemed to come. She took in his scent but couldn't figure out what his scent was really, it didn't seem human but scents can be deceiving and she knew that.
"Is he seriously innocent enough to not know what a growling wolf means, or is he just that much of an idiot?" She asked herself, not expecting him, or anyone really, to be able to understand her in wolf form. She huffed through her nose and kept her gaze on him, in case he was pretending and just waiting on her to turn her back.

Teleporting was a simple but troublesome power that the angel possessed. While it did make traveling from one place to the other easier it did have its drawbacks. Sariel didn't take advantage of this particular power often but today would be an exception. Past experience taught him that he if he wanted to at least see what was growling at him he couldn't approach it normally. One step forward and the animal would take off instantly. His only hope of actually seeing it at all would be to catch it from behind. Teleporting now would not be a big deal, the distance was short enough that doing so would barely take up any energy to use. So he did it. Sneaking up behind the animal was easy, but was it wise?
It had never occurred to Sariel that he was playing a very dangerous game with a wild animal. Big predators did not take being caught by surprise very well. This wolf could have easily turned around and attacked him for being so careless. Sariel didn't seem bothered by this scenario though. He was a lot stronger than he looked. He had yet to get himself into a fight but he knew he had quick reflexes to be able to counter the wild beast if it had lunged at him, he could pin it to the ground within seconds before it could sink its fangs into his flesh, all while making sure not to seriously injure it in the process. There was no need for that though. The wolf had been defensive at first but that was about it. When it realized that he was not going to attack it, it didn't do anything.
Sariel watched the wolf carefully as it took in his scent, taking in the creatures form in awe. “You are a lot bigger than I thought.” he mused. He knew what a wolf was but seeing one so close he was surprised by its size. It was a big beast, much bigger than most of the dogs he had seen in the city. What a fascinating creature. “Big...but thin...far too thin for something your size...is there not a lot of food for you to hunt? Or can you not hunt at all?” Wolves fed on the flesh of others in order to survive, this much he did know. There were plenty of prey around from what he could see but the animals he had found were too small to fill the stomach of a beast like this. He wondered how well the animal would last if left to its own devices. Could he help it somehow? His healing powers would not be able to fix hunger, but there had to be some way that he could help it.
He would have to befriend it first though. What should he do though? Thinking back to what he had seen the angel remembered seeing humans touching animals that willingly smelled them. Touching was a form of bonding, he had learned this in his observations. Sariel reached out to pet the wolf on the head like he had seen in the past when he noticed something. “Strange...there is magic in you.” He could feel the magic radiating off the wolf before he could get close enough to make contact with it. Animals did not possess magical powers from what he could remember. Something had to have happened to it. “Stay still.” Sariel shuffled closer to the wolf, trying to cup its head in his hands to get a better sense of the magic that clinged to its body.

It was true that Kazuko was a little thin for how big and what she was, she starved for a long time and rabbits weren't enough to do any real good on her weight. She was surviving fine on her own, even if she was thin, ever sense she had been taught to hunt by Loki she had been doing okay. She really didn't like this person though, she had trusted the shifter because he had taken it slow on approaching her, let her approach him.
She continued to growl at Sariel lowly as he reached toward her. She snapped at his hand, trying to bite his fingers and draw blood. She wasn't happy with being approached the way she was, especially not by someone seemingly human, and she wasn't going to hide that fact.

Had anyone else been here to witness what was going on they would think that Sariel was mad or stupid. Here he was crouched before a hostile white wolf with his hand out to touch the growling beast. He wasn't either of these things despite what his actions told outsiders. His mind was clear, and despite his looks he was rather intelligent. He was simply curious and unafraid. Sariel was no mere mortal that could easily be taken down by any large beast. He had a higher tolerance for pain than most mortals, and he was strong. He didn't heed the warning the animal gave him because he knew this. He wasn't going to harm the beast unless it was a serious threat to him.
So when the wolf tried to bite him he didn't looked alarmed or scared, he simply acted. Sariel was quick to draw his hand away before the beast could sink his fangs into him. Just as he pulled one arm away he shot out his other hand out to grab the scruff of its neck. With a quick twist of his body he tried to pin the large canine down. “No.” he said, his voice was still as nonchalant as ever but he meant what he said. He couldn't speak the language of wolves like he could the various language of men but the beast would grasp the meaning behind the words he spoke based on what he did. Sariel was an angel that didn't have to fear injury as much as some supernaturals did, but that didn't mean he would allow himself to get hurt when he didn't need to.
If he succeeded in pinning the beast he'd draw out a bit of his power to strengthen his aura, letting the holy magic within him emitt through his body and mingle with the wolf's energy. It was a little trick he had learned before he had came to earth (though he didn't know how he knew this). It was a way to reveal his true nature to god's creations, and a way to use his natural powers to calm the beast down. His aura should have at least some kind of calming effect on mortal creatures like this. “Calm now. I am no threat to you. I just want to see what kind of magic has embedded itself within you.” This was his major concern. Magic was more native in humans than it was in animals. The fact that he could feel magic coming off of this wolf meant it either was a very special beast, or someone had done something to it. It was most likely the latter, and if that was the case it could be dangerous. He could not just let this wolf go without seeing what he could do if it was in danger.

Kazuko couldn't pull away fast enough to avoid being pinned down so of course that's how she ended up. She didn't have the strength she should or she would have been able to at least wiggle out of this dudes grip. As it was she just layed there, anger boiling. She couldn't easily bite the person holding her down anymore and her legs were at a bad angle to kick him off so she settled for making her growling more fierce, trying, and failing, not to whine as well every once in a while.
All his aura did was stop her from growling, it did nothing to stop the panicked whining or her sped breathing, which was impossible to hear earlier with her growling. Her eyes widened when he mentioned magic, that's what the man who changed her could control. She squirmed, getting nowhere but making it obvious she wanted up. She whined louder, she didn't like being at the mercy of others, certainly not ones who could control magic. She kept squirming and whining as hard and loud as she could, hoping the man holding her down would get that she wanted to be let go.

The wolf hadn't stood a chance. It had made a mistake trying to bite Sariel. He did feel a little bad for having to do what he did. He had no ill intentions with the beast. All he had wanted to do was to study the magic inside of it. Magicked creatures could be a serious threat to not just themselves but to others. Spells cast on creatures were normally with ill intentions. Some humans attached curses onto living things to help sneak a fatal blow to their enemies, or to test out new forms of curses to put to use later. He wanted to be sure that the wolf was safe but he couldn't do that if it attacked him. He was left with no other choice than to pin the wolf down when it attacked.
The beast struggled underneath him but Sariel was strong enough to keep it from escaping. As the animal tried to fight him the angel used his aura to help calm it down. His power had some effect, the wolf stopped struggling, but it didn't stop growling. Well, his power couldn't fix everything. At least now he could see what he was dealing with much easier than he could before. When the wolf started whimpering Sariel gently stroked its head. “There, there, calm down now.” Sariel's voice sounded slightly more soothing than its normal monotone sound. After a few gentle strokes he placed his palm on its palm. He closed his eyes as he tried to draw himself into the center of the power in the beast he could feel.
“This power...its...strange.” he muttered out loud. This was like nothing he ever felt before. The magic was complex and deeply ingrained within the wolf's very being. But was it dangerous? “No...its not a curse like I thought.” The nature of the spell was something else. It was meant to give another form, the more he poked through it the more he began to understand its true nature. Sariel's eyes fluttered open and rested upon the wolf's gaze. “You can take on a human form.” he said matter of factually. “This current form is your natural form but someone has given you the body of a human. Am I correct in this assumption?”

Kazuko was slowly calming down, squirming less and just laying motionless more. She was just laying there breathing and whining softly when he started rubbing her head for a split moment. It relaxed her the rest the way and she let him check whatever magic she now held. She knew what the magic had given her and she wished it could be taken away, though she doubted it was possible without it killing her.
Kazuko listened to him speak, she knew he'd figure it out since she stopped fighting. As he did she started struggling to get up again. If he let her up she'd use her paws to gesture for him to stay there and then run off into the nearby woods to get her dress. She had learned that it wasn't received well when she didn't wear it around those seemingly human, then she'd go back to where he was.

The wolf was finally starting to calm down now. He had gotten a positive response when he pet her head. It looked like his past observations had been accurate. Gently stroking the head of an animal was a good way to gain its trust. Sariel put that new found discovery into the little library of information he had gathered so far. It was a nice discovery but it wasn't what he should be focusing on yet. He had gone so far as to pin this wolf down so he could investigate the magic within her. Now was time to do so. With the wolf calmed down he took the moment he had to poke and prod her with his own power to study what was going on with the beast. He was expecting to find a curse but what he found was so much more. It was a very complex spell that manipulated its body so much he was not sure how he could remove it. There was a good chance that if he tried to remove the spell the animal would suffer permanent damage. Or worse. Death.
The angel was hesitant to take too much risks with such a complex enchantment when he knew so little about it. His hesitation was not just due to what might happen to the wolf, but a moral judgment as well. If this had just been a curse Sariel wouldn't have thought twice about removing it from the wolf if he could guarantee its safety. But this spell was no curse. It wasn't inherently harmful. It was meant to change its being. It had the foul nature of someone trying to play at being god but not enough for him to destroy it. He needed to know more and the only way that he would know that was to ask from the one person that knew about it. That was the wolf.
Sariel didn't have the power to understand or communicate with animals on their level but he wouldn't need any to do this. The nature of this wolf's affliction had given it the form and ability to speak as humans did. This wolf could understand him. He was sure it would figure out what he wanted if he when he asked it directly. Sariel waited patiently for an answer. The wolf didn't speak right away but by the way it squirmed he could tell it wanted him to get off of it. Sariel contemplated for a moment before he released his hold and crawled off the beast. He nodded when it asked him to stay where he was before it left. It never occurred to him that there was a chance that the wolf would take this opportunity to leave if it so desired while he waited. It wanted him to wait so he assumed that it would return. For now he would stay where he was and wait for its return.

Kazuko was happy that the man stayed when she asked him to, she went off and grabbed her dress and threw it on. In a way the wolf wouldn't return as Kazuko was now in her human form but she guessed that either he would know that or quickly figure it out.
She still held out hope that he could remove this magic that held her, made her human on new moon nights and took away her family. As she entered the clearing a mix of distrust and hope filled her eyes, though her face was slightly sad and nearly expressionless.
"I'm sure you know by now what makes me able to shift, but can you remove it?" Was the first think Kazuko asked upon sitting down in the clearing and looking at the man that had held her wolf form down.

Sariel waited. He didn't know why he had to wait, there was nothing stopping the wolf from speaking to him or taking on the form he suspected that it had left in order to take on. But this was what it had asked for so he would oblige. The angel stayed crouched on the ground as still as a statue until the wolf finally returned. If he had not seen the magic in her himself he might not have known that the human standing before him had once been a wolf. The only hint to her true form was her white hair and blue eyes that unlike the rest of her remained the same. “Welcome back.” he greeted her once more. That was what mortals did when they were trying to be friendly with one another right? He hoped he was doing that right. It wouldn't be the first time that Sariel had assumed a mortal custom and ended up making others uncomfortable in his approach. Sariel's dark brown eyes watched the wolf-girl like a hawk. She truly was a fascinating specimen. He would have been satisfied watching a normal wolf going about its business but he had found something more...unique.
The angel would have been content watching this wolf-girl but while he was staring she had asked him a question. Of course he had to give her an answer. “As I am now, with the knowledge that I have I cannot.” Sariel replied as blunt as ever. “Magic is a complicated thing to work in general. The magic that has been placed upon you has clung itself into the very core of your being. If I tried to break it I could break you in the process.” Sariel chewed his thumb as he thought over what he had found while probing inside the wolf. “Its harder for me to deal with magic that has no demonic or holy origins. As an angel it would be easy for me to dispel it with fewer side effects as possible but its not like that. The spell casted upon you is not a curse either...I will need to learn more before I could take such a risk. If I can't finding a witch or mage with the knowledge and power to help will be your only option. Tell me wolf, how did this happen to you?”

Kazuko had just nodded at his greeting and listened to the man quietly, the hope dying out of her eyes as well as a small amount of the distrust. Evidently this person wasn't human either, he was an angel, so that's why he had a different scent! She relaxed a little from her unconsciously tense stance.
"I guess I can tell you, my name's Kazuko by the way. When I was younger a man came and those of my pack he didn't end up taking with him he killed. I could see everything from where my mother hid me but I wasn't found right away. I watched as my family was killed and taken, I was left with no one. After the man left I waited a while and crawled to lay beside my mother, the man came back for whatever reason and found me. He took me and locked me in a cage. I don't know how long I was there but I grew up to nearly a full grown wolf and slowly got the ability to shift. That was all while watching other wolves die from the process," She said sadly, looking down and messing with the grass at her feet. Really she was trying to hide her face that had tears running down her cheeks, even if the evil man was dead she still got sad talking about it. "That's why I kind of snapped at you, I'm not to trusting anymore."
