It had been awhile since Mara had come to the city. It had only been a month or so since the elf had taken temporary shelter in the local forest, but somehow it felt longer. This place still amazed and confused her. All the strange structures and technology surrounding her was nothing like she was used to. Maraevaras had grown up deep in the forest in a far away land from this, far away from humans. She had heard plenty of stories about human civilizations growing up in her small village, she even saw a few that came to trade with her people from time to time. But all those stories never mentioned places like this. The humans too seemed different to. They were nothing like the humans she had seen growing up or heard about. There was something wrong with this place. From the moment Mara had found herself in this strange place she had felt uncomfortable. That was why she had hidden away in the forest. What she did was shameful. As an adventurer she should have embraced the new world. She had left her home to do just that didn't she? But she couldn't help the way she felt. How could she not feel uneasy when she woke up with no memory of how she ended up so far away from home? How could she not worry when every human she passed by gave her strange looks? How could she not be concerned that the money she had brought with her to survive on was rejected every where she went?
At least she had the forest. Everything else in the world might be different, but the one place that never changed was the wilderness. Naturally Mara gravitated to that place and settled down. Just to until she could get her bearings she had convinced herself, but once she settled down she couldn't bring herself to leave. That would end today however. Though she was surviving well in the woods Mara knew she couldn't stay there forever. She had to come back to the city. Today she would start taking steps to adjust to her new surroundings. There were so many things she needed to learn and discover and she was determined to do just that. After days of contemplation she was finally able to come up with a plan. In order to make it in this world she needed to blend in with the locals. She wouldn't go as far as pretend that she wasn't an elf, but the least she could do was dress in the local fashion. It seemed silly to not wear some armor but there didn't seem to be a lot of danger in the city for her to need to do that.
She needed new clothes, but in order to get clothes she needed money. Just because the coin she had was always rejected didn't mean that the humans didn't have some kind of currency. She just needed to find a job or trade for goods. With that thought in mind Maraevaras grabbed some of the pelts she had and made the long trek back into the human city. It took hours for her to finally find one of the things she was looking for, a shop with clothes and other strange things. Mara eyed the shop carefully as she pondered what to do. Should she try to go in? She had yet to find a place to sell her pelts, but maybe she could try to trade the shop keeper her goods so she could get some new clothes....or maybe she should try to find somewhere else to sell first and come back. Mara looked around her, debating if she should ask one of the locals first if they new anything about the shop before going inside. Hopefully there was at least one kind person that wouldn't mind helping her out.

Today was the day.
Purse? Check. Wallet? Check. Credit cards? Check. Camera? Check! Hair? Perfect!
Lilith glanced down at her outfit and twirled. She was wearing her favorite pink skirt that fell to about mid thigh, almost puffing out a little bit. Her shirt was gray and had small cap sleeves on her shoulders and she adored her cork wedges with the white clothe straps. Perfect.
She was ready!
According to her sources, a new shipment had arrived and she just had to go see what was in it! It had arrived last night so, after she had finished with all her morning tasks, she was determined this afternoon to go get a glance at it.
Shoes.
It was all about the shoes...and possible a new skirt! Lilith did a fist pump. "I am so ready for this!" She left her apartment, not sparing a glance at her closet which held an exact amount of 47 pairs of shoes, heading for downtown.
After a while, Lilith had pulled out her camera and had started taking pictures. You never knew when a perfect picture would come up, so Lilith liked to take pictures of practically everything. After about 60 pictures, Lilith was on the street she needed for her favorite shop, The Palace Outlet. This was where she was going to find the most perfect shoes. And possible a new skirt. And now that she thought about it, maybe she would look through the electronics section to see about a new lens for her camera.
Lilith bent her head down over the screen on the back of her camera, looking at the pictures she had taken. It would only take a moment! A moment later, Lilith ran into a solid object, causing her to fall backwards onto the ground, dropping her camera (since the strap was not around her neck like a smart camera holder would have done). "ow..." Lilith groaned, looking up at what she had run into.
It wasn't a what. It was a who. And her eyes widened. "OH MY GOODNESS! I am so sorry!" Lilith grabbed her camera, stuffing it into her bag, jumping up quickly. "I am so, so, so, so sorry! I did not mean to run into you at all, I get distracted easily! Please forgive me!" Lilith looked at the person she had run into. Her first thoughts were What is she wearing? And are those animal furs? Ooooo...poor animals...but pretty furs...! Then she saw her face. She was pretty. Lilith blinked. "Hi...sorry again. Uhm...you look a little lost...do you need any help?" Lilith tipped her head to the side. "I mean I understand if you are fine. I feel really bad for running into you! If there is anything I can do let me know!"
At that moment, Lilith looked up and saw that she was at the shop she wanted and grinned. This was perfect! She could finally get her hands on those shoes!

Mara was unsure of what she wanted to do. Should she go into the store and see if she could get the shop keeper to trade her pelts for the goods she needed? Or should she try elsewhere? A part of her knew that she would never find out unless she actually tried to do it, but still she hesitated. The memories of her past experiences trying to use the coins she did have with places in the city before were still fresh in her mind. Some of these humans had treated her so badly for trying to give her coppers to them. If they kicked her out when she tried to give them her pelts. What a sad elf she was, she hadn't even started trying to make any trades and already she was starting to feel depressed. She started to question if she had made the right decision to come out here after all when something collided into her so hard she fell to the ground.
“Ow...” Mara groaned as she rubbed her aching bum. What in the world was that? The elven woman looked up to see a very pretty red headed human laying on the ground opposite her. Oh, so this human must've been the one to run into her. It took a moment for the human to notice Mara and realize what just happened. When she did the red headed girl immediately burst out apologies. “It's alright mi'lady. I am fine.” Mara gave the woman an apologetic smile before she realized that all her things had fallen to the ground in her fall. “Oh no!” Mara quickly tried to pick her things up. She picked up her discarded bow, and tried to dust off some of her trampled pelts. By the gods she hoped that their value would not go down because of this. She wasn't upset over the incident though. It was an unfortunate mishap but it wasn't the end of the world. The human that bumped into her though looked so guilty though.
“There is no need to apologize mi'lady, accidents happen. Nothing is broken so you don't need to worry.” Mara smiled down at the woman. As the woman kept trying to apologize for the incident she suddenly asked if Mara was lost and needed help. “I wouldn't say that I am lost mi'lady. I am new to this area. Its been awhile since I have come to the heart of this city so I don't know the area that well. But I could use some help. Do you know if the shop keeper in this shop will accept these pelts for some clothes? Or do I have to go elsewhere to sell them for some coin?”

Lilith slowly stood up, watching the woman grab up her furs and inspect them quickly. She was talking about how she needed help selling them and Lilith stood there, and blinked a couple times. "Uhm...I don't think anyone will buy those..." Lilith said slowly, pointing at the pelts. "At least no one I know...." Lilith put a finger to her lips. "Let me think...OH I KNOW!" Lilith jumped into the air and hugged the woman out of the blue.
"I will just buy them. I mean, they are pretty and I am sure I can get them tailored into something. I mean what could it hurt, a few extra things in my apartment wouldn't be too bad and besides, why wouldn't I...I was just thinking about how pretty they are and if it is money you are looking for no need to look any further!" As Lilith took a breath, she looked at the woman and then the shop and then the woman. "OH! Do you need some new clothes!? You see as much as I LOVE your outfit, maybe a nice dress, or OH THEY HAVE THIS EMERALD! Oh my gosh, here lets get you some cute adorable things. Believe me I am an expert. I can tell you are totally a spring! And what's with all the mi'lady stuff? This is like the present, definitely not middle earth!"
Lilith laughed at her own joke. She was talking a hundred miles a minute but she was so excited she couldn't stop herself! This girl definitely needed some fashion advice and here Lilith was, perfectly capable of it! Lilith grabbed the woman's hand and pulled her into the store. She pulled her into the electronics section first and dropped off her camera to be fixed. She then moved towards the clothing. "Oh my name is Lilith by the way! You happened to be right in front of my favorite store! How convenient is that! I mean, it was like FATE! OH MY GOSH! Look at this shirt! It is totally on sale too!!!!!!!! Lilith held up a pink shirt to the woman. "Eh..maybe some more...earthy colors?" She dragged her through the store holding up this shirt and that shirt and a skirt and talking about the different designs and labels. As Lilith was dragging the woman around, she may or may not have ran into a couple different racks, not paying attention at all, pulling the woman by the arm. She had just found a cute emerald green shirt she thought would look amazing on her new friend before she turned around and saw one of the clerks making a bee-line right for them.
The clerk looked at the woman next to Lilith and then looked at Lilith. "Is there something I can help you with?" She sounded almost rude, and the glare she was giving Lilith made her blink a couple times. "I'm sorry. Were you talking to us?" The cheerfulness went out of her tone a bit before a smile appeared on her face. This was not the normal smile of cheerful Lilith. But the smile of the Lilith that loved to torture other people. "Yes. Is there something I can help you with. Possibly? Like checking out?"
Lilith blinked. "No. We are fine." Her voice dripped with honey as she moved behind the woman and did a small flick with her hands.
The flick of her hand produced a small yellow flame that flew into the top of the horrendous hairdo that the clerk had. Before she knew it the clerks hair was a flame and she started running around screaming! "Now...back to what we were doing before we were so rudely interrupted." Lilith was back to her cheerful and bubbly self and she could see some co-workers pour some water on the clerks head, dousing the flames. "So, which would you prefer, a halter, maybe show off the goods. Or maybe this v-neck, still showy but more classy. Hmmm...choices choices."

She couldn't sell her pelts? Mara looked absolutely crestfallen when she heard the news. It was bad enough that all the money she had saved up before she left her old village was worthless in this place. All she had left were the tools of her trade. Mara was a hunter after all. She knew how to track, how to hunt, and the value of the parts of the creatures she brought down. She was sure that she would be able to make something from these furs but if no one would be willing to buy them what could she do? How was she going to make money? “No one will buy them? Is there something wrong with them?” Mara held the pelts out for the red headed human girl to inspect. Surely there was nothing wrong with the pelts she had brought, she had brought the best of the stash she had gathered during her time in the forest. They were properly cared for and looked fine. They had to fetch for a good price at least right?
Just when all hope was lost the woman suddenly hugged her and offered to take them off her hands. “R-Really?!” Tears of joy welled up in the elf's eyes, she wasn't dreaming was she? After a month of uncertainty and struggling to get by things were finally starting to turn out well for Mara. She couldn't help but hug the human girl back. “Thank you so much mi'lady. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to sell these pelts. I am a hunter by trade. I thought maybe I would be able to make some money if I could just sell some of my goods. It was bad enough that no one would take the coin I had on me. If I couldn't sell the goods I did have I would be broke.” By the gods she had to calm herself down before she burst into tears. There were no words to describe how happy she was right now. Now that she would be able to make a profit today she would be able to get some new things. Selling her pelts wasn't the only thing that brought Mara out of the forest today. The elf was determined to try and adjust to the city life while she was here, and to do that she needed to blend in.
Getting some new clothes were on the top of her list. Mara noded when the human girl asked her about that. “Yes, I am in dire need for some new attire. My gear is well suited for combat but not for daily living, and it seems that the local humans think me strange for the way I dress.” Luckily for her Mara had found an expert in this area. Or at least that was what she claimed to be. The little red head had been talking quite a bit in a very short space of time to the point Mara was having a little trouble following the conversation. Her new friend seemed eager to help her out which made her happy. Maybe a little too eager to help but Mara didn't mind. The other woman's hyperness reminded her of that of a child, she was just so bubbly and friendly that she seemed adorable.
Before Mara could say anymore she was suddenly dragged along into the store. Where in the world were they going? The place the red head dragged her into did not look like the clothing section. It was filled with strange devices, some of them similar to the one the human had been carrying with her outside. Mara watched the girl plop said device on the counter before she turned around to introduce herself. “It's a pleasure to meet you Lilith. My name is Maraevaras but my friends call me Mara.” Mara didn't get to say much more before being dragged off again, this time to look at clothes. It was certainly one wild adventure that she would not be forgetting any time soon. Mara helplessly followed along from one spot to the next, being shown this shirt, and that skirt, within a very short space of time, with very little understanding on what was suitable to choose and why before moving onto the next thing. All while worrying each time Lillith bumped into things, or knocked stuff over. Which happened quite a bit. Mara would help to fix whatever Lilith had dropped or help steady the girl out before being taken somewhere else.
In all the chaos someone came to confront them. Mara couldn't tell if this stranger was the shop keep or someone just working for them, but who ever they were they didn't seem too pleased with them. Mara was about to apologize for the chaos she and her friend had undoubtedly caused when Lilith spoke up. There was a sudden change in the girl's tone that completely took her off guard. Was Lilith okay? Soon enough Lilith acted. Mara could only watch with wide eyes as the stranger's hair caught fire and she ran screaming, and once again Mara was led away. “I-is she going to be okay?” the elf asked, looking obviously worried about what just transpired. Lilith on the other hand was back to her normal cheerful self. Mara looked back between the stranger and Lilith. It looked like Mara had gotten herself in a very strange situation and there was no getting out of it. For now she had to focus on what Lilith was asking her. “I don't understand what a halter is, I'm sorry. I am very new to this place. I used to live in a village in the forest, and our clothing was...well...different than what I have seen here. What do you think would be best for me?”

Mara was a pretty name and Lilith thought that it suited the woman completely. She was from the forest? Lilith could work with that. She looked at Mara as she had glanced worriedly at the clerk. Oh don't worry Mara. She will be fine. She was super rude and you shouldn't be rude to paying customers" Lilith nodded as she held up the halter to Mara. "Hmm...well if your from the forest....and you need a whole new wardrobe..." Lilith started handing Mara clothes. The green halter being one of them. She threw some jeans on the growing pile, some simple t-shirts and also some more flowey shirts. They were all in various colors of the rainbow. She also put some shorts on the growing pile and a couple of dresses, one that would cling to her body down to her mid-thigh, after all, everyone needed a sexy cocktail dress. The other dress had a tie right below the breasts and fell from there in a more flowy fashion.
Lilith considered what she had done a good job and escorted Mara to the dressing room. "Alright Mara, basics." Lilith explained which shirts went with which pants and which could be mixed around. She then promptly pushed Mara into the small room and closed the door, standing outside. "Now just try on everything and you must come out and show me!! And whatever you like just hang up on the door and whatever you don't like, just hand it to me and I'll take care of it ok?!" Lilith grinned. Mara was gonna look so pretty!!!!!
Lilith glanced over at the clerk who was leaving the store, a hat on her head and her eyes twinkled. Served her right. Lilith looked up and caught site of the shoes that she had been looking for! "OH THIS IS IT!" Lilith quickly grabbed the black heels with the pink underbottoms. She had been looking for them everywhere and held them up. "How perfect! Thank you shoe goddess for placing these shoes right where I needed them!!!!"

The lady working at the store did not seem fine to Mara but she didn't bother to press the matter further. Lilith did have a point, the lady had been rather rude when dealing with them. The elven woman had no idea what had gotten the worker so upset with them. They were only just looking around (though Lilith was knocking a lot of things over), there was no need for such a fuss. It wouldn't have been fair for them to just take the verbal abuse that would have came their way. Lilith just handled it in her own way. It was a little...unconventional but that was probably just a mage thing. Back home she had heard stories about how some human mages could be a little strange. Now she was just experiencing it first hand. It was a little troubling but the red headed human was very kind. As crazy as this sounded Mara trusted her. How could she not? Lilith was helping her blend in with the locals in exchange for her hard earned furs. In all the time that Mara had been in this strange place she had not met anyone nearly as kind as this woman besides the blonde haired lady she had met when she first woke up here and the wolf man she met in the forest.
After dumping a sizeable amount of clothing in her arms, Lilith led her to some place labeled dressing room. There were a bunch of tiny rooms lined up against the walls. “They have a place for you to change?” Mara looked surprise. There was no place like this where she lived. The one tailor that lived in her old village would take her customers to the back of her hut to measure them and have them fitted but that was different that this. Mara listened closely to Lilith's instructions, trying her hardest to understand what was being told to her. There was a lot of different clothes, of all different colours and styles. There were even certain ways that they had to be worn as well. She didn't really understand why the clothing thing was so complex but she didn't question it out loud. She was here to learn after all so that was what she was going to do.
“Alright. I will try to be quick.” Mara said before turning away to head to the nearest available room. Now what should she try first? There were so many different things to wear, some of them shirts, pants, and even dresses. Dresses made sense for casual wear when she wasn't working so she was fine with trying them out first. Though the dresses in question were very....very fancier than what she would expect for simple garb. Mara carefully picked up the cocktail dress Lilith picked out, blushing slightly as she looked at the thing. It was kinda short to be considered a dress wasn't it? Maybe Lilith made a mistake when she picked it out. “I guess I can just try it...just to be sure.” Mara disrobed herself and tried to slip on the dress. For something that looked so short it was surprisingly easy to put on. It actually fit, the fabric did not feel too tight on her body at all. It was able to cover some of the important bits of her figure. But it did little to help cover her bust or her legs. Was it suppose to be like this? “Umm....L-lilith, I am not sure if this...looks right.” Mara cracked the door open a bit as she called out to the red head. She poked her head outside and noticed that Lilith was no where to be seen. “Lilith?” Mara stepped outside the room to look around for her, feeling a little exposed in the outfit she was wearing. Hopefully Lilith had not wandered too far away.

Lilith was still mooning over the shoes when she heard Mara call out her name. She turned, heading back to the dressing room, humming a happy tune and stopped when she saw Mara in the cocktail dress. Lilith grinned, bouncing up to Mara. "You look hot! Perfect, so we guessed your size right most awesome!!!" Mara did look good, and Lilith was quite pleased with the work she had done. She nodded, turning Mara around and pushing her back into the dressing room. "Alright Mara, now just put on your clothes you had and come out with all the other clothes and we will check out, ok?" As Lilith waited, she looked through her phone, replying to a text from one of her co-workers. When Mara came back out, Lilith grabbed part of the clothes, bringing her up to the cash register.
"So all of this please. And here is my membership card." Lilith handed over her card for the sales lady to scan. Her points were gonna be so high, she knew she was going to get a great deal on camera equipment the next time she came in. She smiled at Mara as the lady scanned the items and placed them in a bag.
"That will be, $452.87, please." The saleswoman looked between Mara and Lilith. "Cash or card?" She had a cat like smile and Lilith rolled her eyes. "Card of course." Lilith swiped her card, smiling at Mara. "Girl you are gonna look so cute! I'm excited you must come over and we can grab some coffee on our way and I can show you some cute ways to do your hair. Do you have a phone? We should exchange numbers." She grabbed her receipt and some of the bags, signaling that Mara should grab the rest. She was wishing she would have driven but what could ya do. She stopped out on the street. "Where do you live, Mara? Maybe we should drop this off first and you can change and then we can go grab some food and you can tell me all about yourself." Lilith smiled at her, freeing up one of her hands by setting the bags down.
Stepping off the curb, Lilith felt the familiar role of her ankle and felt a curse leave her lips as she fell over. Really? She stood back up slowly, brushing the dirt off her skirt. "Ok anyways!!" She raised her hand, a taxi stopping and she helped Mara pile the bags into the trunk. "Alright! Let's go and get you changed then we will go out and I'll show you around the town!"
