There were so many people here....
Sariel watched the thick crowd of people going about their business from his perch. Today's perch happened to be a vacant bench he found earlier. It wasn't a bad place, he had more room to sit on or even lie down if he really needed to. It was a nice place to be, though not his ideal place. He would have preferred perching somewhere higher so he could watch everything happening from a bird's eye view but he had cause too much of a scene the last time he had sat upon the railings of the second floor of this place. Down here would have to do. So here he sat, long legs drawn close to his chest, hands on his knees as he leaned forward, his ever watchful, non blinking eyes staring vigilantly into the crowd as the people passed by (paying even careful attention to those that came close to him).
It was hard to tell from the blank expression on his face, but people watching was something he quite enjoyed. It had quickly become a favorite pass time of his. It had given him a temporary reason to exist. Having a purpose in life was very important for an angel. His holy father had created his kind to serve him. But how was he to serve his father? That was a question Sariel had yet to find the answer to. He had forgotten the reason he was sent to earth once he woke up, and no matter how much he prayed all he was greeted with was silence. With no purpose Sariel was left to wander the streets of New Orlands with nothing to do. He had to pass the time somehow while he tried to figure out what he had forgotten.
Perhaps watching these humans would reveal something to him? If he was brought to earth his purpose would most likely revolve around humanity wouldn't it? What if he was a guardian angel? It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that he was sent here to watch over a human. If so...who was the human? How would he know who he was destined to be with when he saw them? He didn't know, but maybe he could find out if he looked hard enough. His memory loss could be some kind of test of his skill. Sariel continued to watch the people pass by, waiting for some kind of sign, or at the very least someone he could help in the crowd. It could take all day, or maybe even weeks until he found what he was looking for. He didn't mind that though. He would sit here as long as it took until he found what he was looking for.
