Say what you want but Dodger thought her powers were by far the greatest she ever heard of. How many artist could say that they could literally make their art come to life? Not many that was for sure. There wasn't a whole lot that she could do with them yet but she had read plenty about what she could do. The runes aspect seemed pretty interesting, with runes Dodger could learn really complex magic that she could put to good use for just about any situation. Making magic barriers to conceal, protect, or trap people in was pretty sick, and they could even be used offensively too. Sadly she was not anywhere close to doing something like that. According to the experts it took years of training for any caligraphia to get to that advance a level in their magical arts. She would be lucky to reach anywhere near that by the times he hit fifty. To make matters worse there was no other caligraphias that worked in the PIDA that should could at least study under.
That really sucked balls. When she had joined the agency she had done so in the hopes that she could learn how to use her powers effectively. It was one thing to learn not to drain her energy to the point of nearly killing herself, but another to learn the complicated magic that came with it. She wasn't the only one with this problem. Her friends had joined for pretty much the same thing. Jesse and TB came here with high hopes for their gifts, Jesse had been so psyched after he discovered he was a mimic. TB...well TB was a lot less happy about the power of his voice coming from singing. They wanted to at least learn how to control it. But in the end they didn't get much help. Like her Jesse learned that there wasn't any other mimics at the agency, and the only things he learned about them were through books or some of the experts that took the time to study him a little bit. For TB the only other person that shared his powers had been Cry, who like him only discovered his powers later in life and joined the PIDA for the same reasons. It was annoying, but the sad truth they had learned was the PIDA wasn't going to help them.
So some of them took matters into their own hands. Well, Dodger at least did. She was probably only one of the few in the group that could properly train her powers. Dodger came into headquarters every morning to train her powers, doing all sorts of drawings, big projects, small projects, or a bunch of creations all at once to slowly adjust her endurance and test her limits. All that work was slowly paying off. Now she was able to gauge how much energy she spent when she was using her powers, and even increased her capacity to do so. It didn't sound like much on the surface, but that was far more than she was capable of doing when she had first gotten here. That was an achievement in her book. Now was time for a new form of training, using certain creations. Most of her training made her draw whatever came to fancy, but not particular works. That was where mini Sherlock and mini Watson came in. Dodger wanted to have certain drawings that she could call allies that she could easily create when on missions.
So far that training was turning out pretty well. Drawing them out was simple enough, but the most interesting bit was the creations themselves. Mini Sherlock and mini Watson had very distinct personalities that weren't just more clear than the creations before them, but they didn't change, and even developed over time. They were more than just mere drawings, it was almost like they were real. It had been an outcome she hadn't expected, and was rather pleased with. There was obviously something more to them than met the eye, and she wanted to find out. What better time than to study them now? This plan of hers was great, she could get some work done while she trained and studied her creations at the same time. Right now she wanted to see how well they could do at giving her information. Info gathering was pretty important in an agents work, and with her powers she could easily create spies to help do some of her dirty work. They needed to at least learn how to process information and give it back to her. There was also a possibility that the link between her and them was strong enough that she could gain whatever info they got on their own in her mind. If that was the case it would pretty sweet. It was easy enough to do while reading case files so she decided to shove her testing into that.
