There Gil lay, sprawled out on Jesse’s couch. The hound had changed out of his street clothes. He lay there in nothing more than his boxers and a white tank top. He was bumming it after coming home from his latest mission. And what a mission it had been. Guillotine was still a bit irritated that they didn’t bring in their target. Damn it, Jesse. You really dropped the ball this time. Gil thought, he rolled over and nuzzled his head into his plush pillow. Suppose it wasn’t too bad. They got the job done in a timely manner. Now it was time for him to relax. This was easier said than done. Jesse had dropped him off at the house so he could go back to bed. After all the complaining he had done he just couldn’t say no to that.
Unfortunately, Gil hadn’t been able to fall back asleep after his run in with the wolf from Axium. With adrenaline still pumping through his body it would be impossible for him to relax, let alone take a nap. Right now he was just waiting for Jesse to return from the PIDA. The human went there to inform them on the situation. Gil anxiously wondered if the PIDA would be satisfied with their job, despite not bringing in the person they were told to protect. Jesse would of had to have a plan before going in to see his bosses. The man might have been bull-headed but he wasn’t stupid. Well, at least the damn mutt wasn’t here. Oh god, Gil didn’t know what he would do if Reid actually agreed to stay with them. Surely, if Jesse would have brought the wolf home there would have been a fight. Guillotine’s medication helped him with his anger issues. However, it was still fair to say that the hound still had his limits. He was just happy not to have to deal with the wolf anymore.
Now, all he had to do was wait for Jesse to return. Guillotine had already informed the man that he was going to have a heart to heart discussion. About what? Jesse’s powers of course. Towards the end of their mission Jesse was able to transform into a hellhound not once, but twice with no problems. That alone was a red flag that something was wrong. Either Jesse was getting better, or his hellish instincts were growing stronger. Could it be possible that hellhound instinct had somehow taken permanent residence inside Jesse’s head? That would explain the easy transformations as well as the instinct Jesse was experiencing while in, and out of hellhound form. Did that mean he was turning into a hellhound? Could that even be possible?
Guillotine had mixed feelings about this. Sure, he relished the thought of being with his own kind again. Not only that but Jesse would get to experience what he was going through every day. On the flip-side, Jesse wasn’t a hellhound. Jesse is a human. What would the PIDA think of all this? Gil didn’t doubt that Jesse would leave the instinct part out of his report. Still, Gil intended on talking about it with him. Hellhounds weren’t like werewolves. Humans shouldn’t be turning into them. It was unnatural.
(( I hope this post is ok.))

Finally Jesse was home! It had been a long and eventful morning for the young man. The day had started out shitty from the start, he didn't get much of a chance to sleep the day before from being busy with other things. The man had decided to hold off just a little longer off of sleep to get some recording done till he gotten a call in the middle of it. The man had been rather upset getting a work call from the PIDA on one of his days off. The damn agency had made him drag his and his roommate's butt out all night to look for someone that they wanted them to bring into the base for protection. That mission had gone....well....it didn't go that well at the start. What had started off as a simple rescue mission turned chaotic rather quickly. The guy they were trying to track attacked them and tried to escape, and Jesse had to use his powers to stop the damn bastard from getting away. During the course of that something in the man seemed to have snapped. He wasn't sure what it was but he wasn't being like his usual self, and it nearly caused the guy he was after serious harm.
At least things didn't end up bloody. Jesse's own stubbornness had won out in the end. While he wasn't able to bring the wolf man in like he was told too he was able to offer up some help and in turn get information about the group he really needed to focus on. Axium. Boy had it been fun giving the PIDA all the details on Axium when he got back to headquarters. Whether his bosses were upset or not over how Jesse handled his mission (he actually did a pretty good job convincing them that leaving Reid under his watch was the best course of action) didn't seem to matter much once he told them what Reid had told him. Everyone agreed that Axium was dangerous and planned to put this case on top priority now that it had been brought to light. Even more surprisingly they agreed to let Jesse be the one to help gather more information about the place. They told him that he could partner up with anyone he felt would be able to help him do his job safely if he so desired. Would he do it though? Hell no. The second he heard about Axium and what they did to people Jesse had resolved that he would go to no one about this.
Axium was too dangerous for him to tell his friends about. This mission he was going to keep to himself as best as he could. He knew all too well how the others would react if he said anything about this. Most of them would get a bit excited and jump into the mission without thinking about the potential cost. Some might be more aware of the dangers but would still go with it anyway. TB would be a different story. John was no fool, the moment he heard about this he would chastise Jesse for taking something way out of his league, but would force him to work with him. Jesse couldn't let that happen. TB had way more to lose if Axium captured him. Hell everyone had more to lose than Jesse did if they were caught. For there sake he would keep his mouth shut about this.
But there was one person he wouldn't be able to hide this from, and that was Guillotine. Jesse sighed as he parked his car in the driveway. Gil had been there when Jesse had heard about Axium, and he of course heard Jesse say he was going to take this case on his own. Getting the hellhound to leave him be on this was not going to be an easy task. Gil already thought it was crazy when Jesse said what he planned to go, he would probably not be pleased to hear that he actually followed through with it. Maybe he could lie and say that he didn't get the job but it was only a matter of time before Gil noticed that something was up and go blabbing his mouth off to TB. He would have to have a little talk with Gil to convince him to keep quiet about it, among other things.
Perhaps it was a good thing that he told Gil they could have a little talk after he returned so he could have a little more time to calm down. God knew Jesse needed it. After all the adrenaline rush from the chase Jesse had been acting strangely. Even he couldn't deny that something bad was going on with him. Ever since he mimicked Guillotine's transformation ability he had been having strange feelings and thoughts and had little control over them, let alone noticed some of them. Jesse didn't even know that his eyes had turned blood red till he went into the PIDA to give his report. Thankfully by the time he was done with his meeting they had gone back to normal. Still the fact they had been that way troubled him. He had seen this little eye thing happen to Gil in the past, most of the time it happened when the hound was pretty pissed off. It was a sign that things could turn violently. It seemed that Jesse mimicked more than he thought when he used his powers but what?
Well he would find out soon enough. Taking a deep breath Jesse walked up to the door, slid his keys into the lock and stepped into his house. “Gil, I'm home.” the man called out. He took his shoes off, and left some of his belongings at the entrance before he headed to the living room where he was sure Gil would be at. Sure enough that is where the hellhound was. “Glad to see you didn't chew on anything while I was away.” he teased. “Did you get any rest at all while I was gone?”

The feeling of anxiety began to wash over Guillotine like a tidal wave. His nerves were shot after the ordeal with the wolf. There was no way in hell he’d be able to go back to sleep. Not only had the mission been a total bust but he’d also learned about a new threat. Guillotine’s body grew tense as his mind thought about Axium. No, he needed to stop thinking about this. Damn it, why did this have to bother him so much? All this stress, backed by sexual frustration, was beginning to drive Gil insane. The hellhound was tempted to rub one out while Jesse was gone. It wouldn’t take him long. The hound contemplated this before deciding not too. Jesse would be back soon and the last thing Gil would want to do was get caught with his pants down, again. The hound released a frustrated growl before running his fingers through his raven colored hair. Why did he have to feel like this? It was a shame he would have to resort to something like that when he could just go out and find a girl to sleep with. No, he couldn’t do that. Not after what he and Akeelah had went through. Cheating had been what caused their break up in the first place.
Guillotine hadn’t been with anyone since he and Akeelah had their falling out. Sure, he flirted with girls. That was in his nature. However, when it was all said and done he never once slept with them. The male was far too guilt ridden to do that. It also didn’t help that he was expecting puppies as well. It appeared that Gil’s carefree lifestyle had finally come to a screeching halt after he’d left Akeelah in the hospital. Their fight had been the start of this bad rut.
The hellhound’s tired mind began to wonder into dangerous territory. Gil thought, If he had killed Akeelah none of this would have happened. He would still be with his pack and free from the PIDA’s grip. A sudden feeling of sorrow began to overcome Guillotine. Why did he think like this? None of this was Akeelah’s fault. The hound didn’t have the right to blame his Ex for his problems. This situation had been the result of his own stupidity. Akeelah should have been the last person to blame. Guillotine had used her as a punching bag on more than one occasion. He’d been relentlessly abusive towards the woman he loved. With all the things he did to her, now she was being blamed from his problems too? Realizing this Guillotine began to feel like sh*t. It was easy to blame others for his troubles, but in reality he did all of this to himself. “I’m so f*cked up…” The hound began to regret being left alone with his thoughts. A dark depression had weaseled it’s way into Gil’s head.
Damn, he could use a smoke.
Before Guillotine could reach for a cigarette Jesse pulled up. The hound jumped up, hearing his roommate unlock the door. It was about time the human arrived. Finally, Gil didn’t have to deal with his depressing thoughts anymore. Jesse strolled in, looking a bit chipper as he teased Guillotine about his chewing habits. He must have had some luck at the PIDA. Why else would he be in a good mood. The hound smirked before he scratched the back of his head. “You know I was tempted to gnaw on that pretty little chair of yours. Don’t tempt me.” It didn’t take long for Gil’s face to sport as serious look. He’d peaked around the corner and looked at the door. It was almost as if he were expecting someone else to come home with Jesse. Gil stood there for a moment, looking tense.
Soon enough he back away from the corner. Guillotine was relieved not to see anyone else at the door. Gil had feared Jesse would drag the wolf back home with him. Even after the mutt refused his offer. With his anxiety levels knocked down a few pegs Gil turned his attention back to Jesse. “I didn’t sleep at all. I've been up this entire time.” Gil grumbled as he made his way back over to his couch. He sat down before flashing a devilish smirk. “ I bet some sweet coitis would put me to sleep. Ah, yes female company would be nice.” Guillotine leaned back against the couch and propped his feet up on the table. “But alas, I am a lonely pup with no one to love. I don't even have a leg to hump. Oh, woe is me!” The hound cooed, putting his hand over his head for a dramatic effect. The beast was nothing more than a big drama queen. He hadn't meant anything he said. Gil appeared to just be giving Jesse a hard time.
Suppose it wasn't so bad. Gil snapped back to his old self now that Jesse was around. The human always pulled him out of his depressing ruts. Gil let a chuckle escape his mouth before sighing. He put his hand down and turned back to Jesse. His tone was less excited, but curious nontheless. “So, how did it go at the PIDA? Were the Alphas satisfied?”

It was good to finally be home after all the chaos of the day, but Jesse knew that things weren't going to go back to normal once he passed through the door. Surely Guillotine would question him on what happened back at headquarters at some point, even if he didn't Jesse would have to tell him so he could at least make sure that the hellhound didn't go blabbing to TB behind his back. There was also the issue about his strange behaviour during the fight. It was pretty obvious the more he thought about it that his strange behaviour was a result of Gil's abilities that he copied. There was a good chance that he would still be less of himself for the rest. That was one of the pros and cons of his powers. No matter what it was he copied Jesse would be plagued with it all day. He couldn't complain too much about being able to turn into a hellhound for the rest of the day whenever he desired, it was much better than last time when he was stuck with black hair. But there seemed to be a bit more...flaws that came with the transformation than he had anticipated. He had to ask Gil just what he was in for, for the rest of the day when he had the chance.
Of course he didn't jump on that right away, thinking it best to bombard his buddy with questions when the two of them could sit down for a long discussion. Jesse announced he was home and smiled when Gil popped his head out from over in the living room. He even teased the hound a little bit as a greeting. The hound was happy enough to tease right back, what Gil said made the man laugh. “Good thing you didn't, or else I would have to drag your sorry butt back to headquarters and get you neutered.” the man gave Gil a wicked grin as he reminded him of the threat he had given him the day he had came back from work and found his desk chair chewed to bits. At the time he had been really pissed, but now it was nothing more than a funny memory. At least he was able to replace the chair with an even better one, and Gil didn't touch the thing. While the man was joking around he couldn't help but notice Gil's uncomfortable gaze directed behind him.
Jesse looked at his roommate, feeling a little confused till he connected the dots. The man shook his head, seriously Gil was something else. “Relax I didn't bring him with me.” he said as he stepped into the living room. “Not like you could do shit about it, I can bring anyone I like into the house since it IS my house.” Jesse decided to change the subject before he got Gil too worked up. He asked the hellhound if he had taken his advice and got some rest while he was away, the hound admitted that he didn't. “That's a shame.” he replied. “I can't blame you though. I don't think I can get any rest either despite not getting a wink of sleep last night. I've got too much energy for that.” Even now after a few hours after that hectic mission Jesse felt restless. It was strange, he should be feeling dead on his feet by now but he felt the exact opposite. Man he wanted nothing more than to run around, maybe even sink his fangs into something. Yeah....that last thought was definitely not one of his own. Man, it was definitely going to be a long ass day. Gil's little company joke helped pull Jesse's thoughts out strange territory and even managed to make him laugh again. “Yeah, too bad for the both of us. But that's the price you gotta pay when living the bachelor life am I right?”
Soon enough it was time for the PIDA talk. Guillotine turned to him and asked him how things had gone back at headquarters. “Things were...interesting.” he replied. “The good news is they took the whole not bringing that guy in pretty well. I was able to convince them that it was best to let the guy have some freedom since he wasn't much of a threat. I even convinced them that I was keeping track of his movements just to be safe. Technically that is true. I can track him down if I keep an eye on his purchasing records...but that is assuming he ever uses that damn card in the first place.” Jesse walked over to Gil and took a seat next to him on the couch. Now came for the harder part...Axium. “As for the Axium stuff, I told them all about what we heard from the wolf dude. Our superiors want me to take care of them.” He left out the part of them suggesting he get some help if he wanted. The less said about that the better. “Before you get on my ass about that all they want me to do is gather more information. There is no way in hell they are going to send only one agent to take down an entire organization like that so you don't need to worry that much.”
“Though...before I start that mission I need to ask you for a huge favor.” Jesse turned to Gil and looked him dead in the eye. The man looked dead serious as he spoke to him. He needed Gil to see he wasn't joking around this time. He couldn't afford to have any slip ups in this. “While I am on this mission no one, and I mean no one must know what I am doing. If the others found out what I was up to that could put the success of this mission at risk. Especially TB. The last thing he needs is to stress out over me. He deals with enough stress in his daily life as it is so I don't want to add onto that.” The man sighed and tore his gaze away from Guillotine. Sadly he wasn't done yet. There was something else that he had mulling over while he was driving back home. And that was what would happen if he failed. Failure meant a lot more than just him being killed or imprisoned. It could mean the very end of the PIDA as they knew it. Jesse had no idea how powerful Axium was, but if they learned about the PIDA and got the advantage shit would hit the fan. And if that happened everyone he knew would....
“If god forbid, if anything should happen to me or it seems like Axium is going to take the PIDA down I want you to get yourself and the rest of our group out of the agency. All of you guys have too much to lose if those bastards got their slimey hands on you and the others. I don't care what you have to do, just get out and save the others before things turn ugly, you got that?”

“Good, I hope I never see that mutt again. He can rot in a dumpster for all I care.” The hellhound rolled his forest green eyes as Jesse told him he couldn’t do a damn thing if a new roommate were to show up. “Is that so?” Apparently, Gil didn’t have an alpha status in the house; that title belong to Jesse. Then what did that make him, an omega? Gil grimaced at the thought. This meant he didn’t have a say in anything. Was Jesse really expecting him to just roll over and take it? Guillotine would rather chew through his own tail than admit he was an omega. While folding his arms in front of his chest Gil projected a rather malevolent look towards Jesse. His brow furrowed. “If I am not mistaken, there are at least three knives in this house.“ The male then flashed a devilish, sharp toothed grin.” It only takes one to slit someone’s jug’.” Guillotine cooed, his voice as smooth as silk. If Jesse thought he would allow the wolf into his home without any confrontations then the human had another thing coming. Omega status or not, Gil wouldn’t let it happen. The hound was acting a bit defencive despite being on his medication. Though that wasn’t surprising considering Jesse was so open with the wolf about moving in. Suppose there were other things Guillotine should be worried about. Like Jesse’s trip to the PIDA or even his new found instinct? Yeah, that seemed more important at the moment. Gil managed to put the whole wolf thing past him as Jesse moved on to a different topic.
“Yeah, the bachelor life sucks.” Guillotine replied, leaning his head back against the couch. Jesse was in rare form today. Usually after a mission the human would slink back to his room to rest, or join the hound in relaxing in the livingroom. Either way, the human would have been pooped. Not today, the man seemed full of of energy. This could either be from the adrenaline his body had produced earlier or the fact that his powers were, somehow, still affecting him. Jesse managed to produce a hardy laugh after Gil’s joke. Yeah, today was going to be an interesting day.
Curious, Guillotine cocked his head to the side. Jesse had began to explain what went down at the PIDA. It appeared the organization had put a plan in place, this plan only included Jesse. The hellhound listened intently as his roommate told him the news. Needless to say, Gil was appalled by what he was told. The male shook his head. “I can’t let you go alone.” Promises or not, Gil couldn’t allow this to happen. Jesse couldn’t investigate Axium on his own, it was suicide. Was the human crazy? Gil glared at his roommate. He couldn’t believe his ears. “A-Are you stupid or something, Jesse? Like really fucking stupid?” The hound’s growls suddenly silenced themselves once their host got a good look at Jesse’s eyes. He was serious about this mission. Gil could see it. Jesse was pouring his heart and soul into this, yet Gil wasn't having any of it.
The male violently shook his head. His tall form had grown tense and the hair on the back of his neck began to stand on end from flustration. Jesse had done some questionable things in the past but this was down right wrong. Couldn’t the human see what kind of trouble he was getting into? “No, No, NO! The only way I won’t tell anyone is if you take me with you!” Guillotine’s tone, though angry, was sincere. It was hard to just let Jesse go. Gil had just gotten attached to the human. He didn’t want to see Jesse get hurt, or worse, killed. If Gil was with him there would be at least some level of protection. And considering Jesse's track record with his powers this mission could very well be the end of him. With an unusual amount of anger filing into his thick skull, the hellhound stood up. He then turned to face Jesse. The look on his face didn’t exactly look pleasant. For the first time since he’d taken his medication the hound had began to lose his temper. “I’m not going to let anything happen to you or anyone else. Do YOU understand THAT!? I’m going with you whether you like it or not! “ Though Guil’s heart was in the right place, the hound was still making a bit of a scene. His sudden burst of anger could have been from craving nicotine. Guillotine knew he needed a smoke but he wanted to deal with Jesse first. Shaking with anger, Gil continued, "If it wasn't for my respect for you I would have already punched you in the fucking throat."

Jesse rolled his eyes when Gil not so subtlety talked about slitting Reid's throat if Jesse planned to bring him here. By now Jesse had learned not to take everything that Gil said seriously. The hellhound was not likely to slit anyone's throat if he had done whatever he wanted. If anything he was more likely to just rip the poor bastard's throat out with his own jaws then piss on his corpse. Now that was more like him. Luckily for both him and Reid the wolf had chosen to go on his own path. This territorial business of Gil's though would be a problem if the man changed his mind, or if Jesse had to give shelter to anyone else in the future. It would be best to try and hand Reid over to someone else if the wolf decided he didn't want to risk living out in the streets. Maybe he could shove him over to Dodger? Dodger was cool enough to take on a roommate, so long as Reid didn't mind living with a crazy cat lady with a strange coffee mug fetish he would be fine staying with her instead. That was an issue that thankfully for now he didn't have to deal with, so Jesse let it drop.
There were more important things to deal with. Jesse already had two things in mind, he needed to talk to Gil a bit about what it was like living as a hellhound now that he was stuck having to live like one for the rest the god damn day. And there was the whole deal with Axium. It was hard to decide which one he would have to tackle first. Both options would take a great deal of time to explain, but the most emotional one would be the last one. Maybe he should tackle the easiest one first, that one being the hellhound stuff. He would have moved onto that if Gil didn't immediately jump to the one question he'd rather not answer. Well, looked like his mind was made up for him. Jesse went with the easiest portion of that question to answer. He told Gil that their mission was not considered a failure thanks to his ability to smooth talk himself out of trouble. But when it finally came time to talk about Axium things turned ugly.
Now, Jesse knew that this top was going to be chaotic but no amount of knowing could prepare him for Gil's response. Jesse was shocked on just how badly Gil had taken the news. He knew that Gil thought he was being stupid and all, but he didn't think that Guillotine cared about him so much that he'd demand that he take him with him. Did Gil really care that much for him? Sure they had managed to get on good terms with each other after they started living together, and Jesse started seeing Gil as more than just some annoying guy he had to babysit. To Jesse Gil was a friend, he was someone he would die to protect if he had to. But he didn't think that Gil thought of him like that. Guillotine might have changed but he still seemed like the kind of hellhound that didn't care too much about humans to ever get that close to them. Especially one that he thought was trying to control him. Akhtar seemed to be the only exception to that rule, since with his powers he seemed less than human. But Jesse was wrong, he was dead wrong.
Some part of the man could see where Gil was coming from here and felt touched by his concern. But the other side of him didn't take his reaction well. A growl rose from Jesse as Gil started yelling at him. For fucks sakes why did Gil have to make this so difficult? It seemed Guillotine was just as ignorant and blind as he could be sometimes. The one time that Jesse actually wanted Guillotine to think about himself he couldn't do it. Jesse's eyes turned red as he glared daggers into Guillotine. “That's not your call Gil.” he snarled back. “Don't you think I wouldn't ask for help if I could? I am not as stupid as you think I am. You can't come with me. No one can! Even if I had a partner for this it wouldn't make this any easier. Do you have any idea what will happen to you if they were to capture you? At least with me if I did get caught they might just kill me, at worse they might make me one of their test subjects. No doubt they will regret that decision, I probably won't be much use to them then. But you? Dear god Gil they would have a field day with you. Out of the two of us you have more power and you are easier to manipulate too boot!” Jesse stood up and took a step towards him, glaring Gil down only a few inches from his face. Any sane man would have backed the hell away from this.
What he was doing was pretty much challenging a hellhound to a fight. Gil wasn't human enough to not preceive what Jesse was doing was nothing more than talk. The hellhound could easily attack him if he felt cornered. But Jesse wasn't thinking, his anger mixed with instinct was fuelling his actions. If the man knew what he was doing or not there was no way to tell. Even if he did he didn't give a damn. He had to make Gil realize that what he was trying to do was suicidal. “I am NOT going to let that happen do you understand me? So long as I live I am never going to let anyone trap you in a cage again EVER!” Guillotine was bad enough if he was confined to the house for a day, Jesse could only imagine what kind of hell the poor guy would go through if he was trapped in a cage for the rest of his life. Jesse thought about this on his way back home and he knew he couldn't let that happen. “I am not letting you get caught up in this with me, or anyone else for that matter. You and the others have more to lose than me if you went with me. You have your future kids to worry about, and your EX too, don't you want to try and work things out with her? There is so much still out there for you in this world that you can't go throwing your life away for me. I won't let you do that. I won't let you lose your freedom for me, I will keep you safe and if I got to break your damn legs to keep you from chasing after me I will fucking do it!”

This was insane. How could the PIDA allow something like this to happen? Did they see Jesse as a sacrificial pawn? If he died during this mission would they just replace him with another human? It didn’t make any sense to let one of their own agents go after a potentially dangerous organization without any back up what so ever. Just the thought of Jesse going in alone and getting captured frightened Guillotine. The hound had never been one to show affection towards another male, especially a human one. However, Jesse was different. At the moment the human was on par with Akhtar; in a sense that he was Gil’s close friend. The human had been so kind to him. Feeding him, playing fetch, taking him on walks, and even giving him belly rubs on occasion. The list goes on. Jesse didn’t lock Gil away in a cell like what most agents would have done if in his position. The man had taken the time to get to know Guillotine, despite having the power to lock him up and forget about him.
The situation had began to get out of hand as soon as Gil stood up. He stood in a dominating posture over Jesse. His tall frame was ridged, his hair spiked. The human, in turn, did the same. Now the men stood face to face. Neither of them were willing to back down from the other. Tension filled the air around the two. It hung so thick that it could be cut with a knife. A symphony of growls streamed from the men. Both appeared to be giving off challenging vibes. If this didn’t stop a fight was going to break out. Only this time, a fight wouldn’t be so one sided. Jesse had gained the ability and instinct of a hellhound. Sure, it would only be for one day but that was enough time to put Guillotine in his place. The opposing hound hadn’t thought about that. The only thing going through Gil’s mind was stopping Jesse from doing anything stupid. Right now his words only seemed to be causing the human to lose it.
Jesse was standing his ground on the subject. Though, when he stood to meet Gil’s gaze the hound nearly snapped. It took everything in Gil’s power to keep him from jumping on the human then and there. His medication had to have played a vital part in this. Without it a fight would have already went down. Gil momentarily faulted after hearing Jesse say that he didn’t want to see him in a cage again. Back when the two had first started living together Jesse lavished the idea of Gil being put down and locked away. Now the human began to show a side that Gil hadn’t seen before. It was a sign that truly cared. Guillotine shook his head. All the more reason to accompany Jesse on his dangerous mission. Not many people were this kind to Gil, especially after receiving a bite from him. This mimic was one in a million, and a friend Gil didn’t want to lose.
“After all the shit I’ve put her through... -Akeelah and I are over. I doubt we will be getting back together. Regardless, that it is none of your concern.” Gil would be surprised if the girl even gave him a passing glance. “Besides, I can do whatever I want with my life. If I want to throw it away then I will damn near do it!” What about Akeelah, and his pups? Jesse had brought up a valid point. What if Akeelah was willing to accept him? Even more importantly, was he willing to leave his pups behind? Hell, could Akeelah raise them by herself? Gil shook the feeling off. He couldn’t back down now. “You are an idiot. You have a lot to live for. You may not have a mate, but you do have friends and family! Do they not matter to you?”
Instinct began to slowly bubble to the surface. Those dark thoughts that Gil had locked away had now begun to swarm around in his head. The medication appeared to be losing it’s edge. This could be disastrous. Guillotine glared down at the smaller human, watching as his eyes began to shift to a crimson color. Ah, there it was. Jesse as feeling a bit of instinct too? It appeared so. This wasn’t good, not good at all. Jesse’s instinct began to spring forward. Almost as if his own instinct were reacting Gil’s eyes began to shift to their deadly blood red color.
If a fight where to break out the man’s house, or rather his living room, it would surely be destroyed. But at the time Gil didn’t care. He just wanted to knock some sense into his roommate. The beast snarled in response to Jesse’s challenge. “I don’t care what they do to me, Jesse! Y-You know I’m not as immortal as I claim to be. If they were to use me as a weapon I can be taken down by a fucking bullet, ok! ” The male contributed to tremble. Anger and rage rushed through him like a mad bull. ”I won’t be able to forgive myself if something were to happen to you. Don’t you understand? I can’t just stand by and let you do this! I just can’t damn it!” It didn’t take long for Gil to lose it and grab Jesse’s shirt. He then violently slammed the human’s back against the wall. Gil wasn’t about to take no for an answer. The mimic would have to nearly knock the hellhound out to get him to calm down now that his instinct began to take control. Gil bared his fangs at his roommate. “I can do whatever I damn well please and not you, or the PIDA can tell me otherwise!”
“I will break your damn arms and legs to keep you from going to that fucking place. So, Don’t tempt me!” The hound violently shook with anger. He wanted very much to calm down and just talk this over, but his temper wasn’t allow it. “Goddamnit! Maybe I should just beat some fucking sense into you, Jesse!?” The beast removed one hand from Jesse’s shirt and clenched his fist. He was so angry, he could kill Jesse! Wait, no. He wouldn’t kill Jesse, but he would beat the man within an inch of his life. Yes, that sounded a lot better. Raising his fist Gil plunged it forward. The hound was dead set on hitting the man in the face. However, Jesse had obtained the ability to transform into a hellish beast. He could even over power the hound without resorting to transforming if he wanted too. Regardless, if he didn’t do something he was about to get a mouthful of Guillotine’s fist.

Things had taken a rather dark turn in the Cox household pretty quickly. Jesse had expected this conversation to go badly from the start but it was turning out to be a lot worse than he predicted. Guillotine's anger was making its appearance again, though it had been a good while since the hellhound had been really mad time didn't make that anger any less dangerous. Gil's rage would soon turn into a serious problem if left unchecked. Something needed to be done here to calm the situation down. Normally that was Jesse's job. It was his duty to help Guillotine keep his anger in check when all other safeguards failed. Unfortunately this time he wouldn't be able to. Jesse might not have any serious anger issues, but the few times he did get angry, seriously angry, he was too bullheaded to think properly. Even then he had some hope of at least pulling himself out of it. With his new instincts though it was a lot harder for him to regain control. Animal instinct was clouding the man's mind and causing him to act out in dangerous ways.
He just couldn't help himself. The man tensed up when Gil stood over him. He knew what Guillotine was trying to do. He was trying to intimidate him. In Gil's mind he was the alpha in this relationship and he was acting the part. Since Jesse was doing something he didn't like he was trying to exert his authority over him. Normally Jesse would have tried to brush this behaviour off and approach Guillotine calmly. Showing Gil that he was scared would only encourage worse behaviour from him, but directly challenging him had the potential on putting Gil on the defensive and the hellhound was prong to being rather violent if he felt threatened. Today though Jesse was having none of this. While he knew somewhere in the back of his mind that he was going to far the man stood up to Gil. He wasn't going to let Gil push him around here, it was time for him to take on the alpha role.
He was more than prepared to force Guillotine to lower his head for once. Jesse rose to his feet and growled at the beast. Despite being a bit shorter than his canine companion the man had enough fire in him to be intimidating enough. Guillotine didn't seem to be too surprised by his actions though. Both men stood there, hair on end, glaring at each other with crimson eyes in a bizarre stand still. Who would be the one to back down first? It didn't look like any of them were going to back off at this rate. It was more likely that this would end in a fight first. If that was the case then so be it! Today would be the day Jesse would win. The man wasn't as weak as he normally was. Today he had Gil's power, they were eveningly matched for once. If he had to take him on he would and he would win. He had to win. Losing meant he would have no other choice but to take Guillotine with him, and if he did that and they failed the mission then he would be forced to watch his friend get killed or worse.
That was something he refused to see happen. He'd rather put down Gil himself than see that happen. Despite his desire for a fight Jesse tried to hammer some reason through Gil's thick skull. The easiest way was to point out what the hellhound risked losing if he tried to follow him. That being Akeelah and his kids. Jesse knew that a part of Gil wanted to be with his mate again, maybe even wanted to be in his kids lives. The man wasn't lying when he said that Gil still had a chance at having that wish granted. Jesse had already spoken with Akhtar about the situation, though Gil would have to get past TB who wanted to keep Gil away from his ex and his kids there was a still a chance he could overcome that obstacle. For once though Gil didn't budge at that, he even denied wanting to try to make things up with the shapeshifter. Instead the hound just threw the whole who had the most to lose right back at him. That only made Jesse angrier. “Of course they matter to me!” he shouted back. “Why do you think I can't take you with me? Or anyone for that matter? This isn't like the other missions, if this was any other mission I would be happy to take you along. You are stronger than me and more reliable when in a pinch. Normally I don't have to worry too much about you, or even TB. But this...it doesn't matter what kind of powers any of us have. We could still lose. At least this way I can make sure that the rest of you get out safely. I joined the PIDA in the first place because I was willing to risk my life if it meant protecting the people I care about. I came there willingly but you didn't. You didn't ask for this so why should I make you throw your life away for my sake?”
God he just wanted to shake Gil right now. Didn't he see how foolish he was being? He was going to just throw his life away just to save his dumbass. Hearing what Gil though brought back a nagging thought in his mind. Maybe it wasn't Gil who was being the stupid one here, what if he really was the dumbass in this situation? Jesse knew all too well that he was better off working with at least one other person when it came to normal missions. Two heads were better than one, having someone else with him would help him stay out of trouble and he could also help watch his partner's back to keep them out of trouble as well. He knew he was giving himself a handicap by pulling this stupid stunt but he was only doing so because he was too afraid of losing someone. Gil could see it, it was so obvious to anyone really what he was doing. Maybe he should rethink his plans. There could be a way to go about it better, all he needed was the chance to think it through.
Unfortunately Jesse wouldn't get much time to rethink his ideas now. Without warning Gil grabbed the poor man and slammed him against the wall. Jesse felt the breath get knocked out of him as his back collided with the wall, forcing the rational side of his mind farther away. He was too busy gasping for breath to hear Gil's words. By the time he could breath again the beast within him snapped. When Gil raised his fist Jesse transformed. Jesse tried to grab a hold of Gil's arm as the hound tried to punch him. Once Jesse grabbed Gil's arm, or any part of him that he could take into his jaws he would try to twist himself and slam Gil into the wall behind him. Now was his chance. He could end this here right now, all he had to do was sink his fangs in his damn throat and he'd win. Jesse lunged at Gil, fangs merely inches from his throat when he realized what he was doing. Jesse's jaws snapped at air instead. The man turned hound would try to slam his paw at Gil's shoulder instead to try and keep him pinned against the wall. “Gil...we...we need to stop this.” Jesse's body shook in rage, excitement, shock, he had no clue what it was anymore. Dear god what was happening to him? He just tried to rip open Gil's throat over a little squabble! “Something...somethings wrong with me. I'm sorry for being an ass but I have my reasons. We can try to talk this out after we both calm down a bit okay? Maybe we can work something out. Just...lets stop before we both do something we'd regret later okay?”

Guillotine could feel his rage rush through him like an over flowing river. Adrenaline pumped into his veins once more. This situation had become dangerous the moment Jesse decided to argue with the beast. With a large ego Gil wouldn’t be so easily deterred. An ever expanding instinct didn’t help the situation either. It appeared that as soon as Jesse showed his hellish side Gil, like the follower he was, did the same. The hound seemed to be done talking. His hellish instincts began to run a muck inside that thick skull of his. It would have been a surprise if anything Jesse said got to the hound at all. Guillotine wanted to see Jesse on the ground, submissive to his request. Thus, Gil attacked.
When Guillotine went on the offensive Jesse was quick to react. The human had been so fast that he had thrown Gil for a loop. The hound hadn’t expected Jesse to catch his punch. The crafty human grabbed Guil, spun around, and pinned him against the wall. The sheer force knocked the breath out of Guillotine. As the male struggled to breathe He felt a burst of heat hit his face. Once that heat died down a large, angry hellhound stood in his roommate's place. Gil’s body grew tense. His chest began to rapidly rise and fall once he caught his breath. Whether Gil would admit it or not he was scared. His blood red eyes widened. It was as if he where looking in a mirror. Jesse had transformed into a beast that looked exactly like him. His powers appeared to be getting better. Unfortunately, with these powers came with instinct. How long would it be until Jesse killed Gil? Could the human resist the urge to kill? When Jesse opened his jaws and went for Gil’s throat the hound had nearly pissed himself. As if out of reflex he closed his eyes. He wasn't ready to die, not yet. Here Gil thought he would die my means of getting shot, or hell killed by his ex. Was he really about to be taken out by his roommate’s fangs? Gil knew full well the power Jesse had in his jaws. It would take only one bite from Jesse to crack his skull.
Why, why didn’t he transform already? Everything seemed to be going so fast that Guillotine hadn’t even thought to change. It was as if he where just standing there waiting to die. Suppose this had something to do with his medication. Sure, it hadn’t stopped his anger, but it did stop him from making a conscious decision to transform and tear Jesse a new asshole. Guillotine could feel the hound’s hot breath against his throat. The male swallowed hard and slowly opened his eyes. Why hadn't Jesse killed him yet? Jesse’s maw was merely inches away from his neck. If the human hadn’t gained control he would have surely murdered his roommate. Helpless, Guillotine began to struggle to get free until Jesse lifted a large paw and pushed it against his shoulder, pinning him to the wall once more. Even then Guillotine continued to struggle.
For a brief moment fear could be seen within Guillotine’s blood red eyes. The hound actually thought he was going to die. So, was this it? Was this the feeling Akeelah and countless others had whenever he attacked them? Was this the helplessness he’s put into his human prey? It was at this moment that Guillotine began to understand why the PIDA had been so hard on him about his habit of eating humans. Trembling, Gil looked down. He refused to make eye contact with the man. His had given a sign unspoken submission. For once, the human had won.
While being pinned against the wall Guillotine began to slowly calm down. The adrenaline was wearing off, leaving the hound feeling achy and tired. When Jesse spoke Gil replied, his tone did not sound too happy. Regardless, his eyes kept their blood red color. “Of course something is wrong with you! Look in the f*cking mirror. You are a hellhound now.” Guillotine began to wince from being restrained. He shakily lifted his hand and placed it onto Jesse’s large bear-like paw. His nails were digging into Gil’s skin. Guillotine would have yelled at him for it but he didn’t want to fight anymore. The beast had mentally and physically tired himself out. With a growl he said, “T-This was what I wanted to talk to you about. Not only have you copied my form, but my instinct as well. I could tell the moment your eyes turned red back at the junk yard. " Gil began to growl. "L-Let me go, your nails are digging into my skin.”

Jesse really had become more powerful than he had expected. Not only was he fast enough to be able to avoid being hit, he was easily able to counter Gil's attack as well. It was a feat that he would not have been able to accomplish if it wasn't for his new powers. Sure Jesse learned the basics of hand to hand combat so he could counter, block, or lessen the damage of simple attacks, but he didn't have the quick reflexes like a supernatural did. There was little chance he could have avoided taking a knuckle sandwich to the face back there if he had still been human. But he wasn't human, not for today anyway. Sadly that wasn't as good as he thought it would be. Power came with a price, and his was new powers were no exception to that rule. While Jesse was able to turn the tables on Guillotine there was very little stopping him from taking this much further than necessary. Jesse was nothing more than a rabid animal now. He was so focused on overpowering his opponent that for a moment he forgot who he was fighting and why he was doing it in the first place.
It was only at the last second that the man realized what he was doing. Luckily for Guillotine his human side struggled back to the surface to stop him. It was an awkward moment to regain some control. One moment Jesse had been backed in the corner and the next he found his fangs inches away from Gil's throat. Jesse forced himself to pull away in shock. Dear god what the hell was he doing? This wasn't what he wanted at all. All he was trying to do was stop Gil from following him down a suicide mission. He wanted to protect his friend, yet here he was about to kill him himself. He was shocked, scared, and pissed with himself for it, his entire body shook as the realization came to him. Even though he knew this he didn't quite stop himself from hurting Gil. While the man pulled back from his potentially fatal attack he pinned Gil down with his paw instead, using a bit more force than necessary to do it. While he regained a bit of his sanity he wasn't stupid enough to give Gil the chance to fight back. He was sure that Guillotine would take his momentary weakness and use it against him. He couldn't let that happen, if Gil went on the offensive he could very well lose what little sanity he had left, and who knew what would happen if he did.
To his surprise Gil didn't fight him. Jesse only caught a glimpse of it in his face before the hound dropped his gaze. Guillotine was afraid. Who could blame him? He was mere seconds away from having his throat ripped open by his own damn roommate. Jesse could see it, no, he could smell it on him. This was a side of Guillotine that Jesse thought he would never see for as long as he lived. He had seen Gil's happy side, his angry side, sad side, pretty much all of Gil's range of emotions, but never once had he seen him afraid before. There had been a time in Jesse's life that he would have loved showing Gil true fear like this, back when he had been hunting down what he thought was a dangerous monster on the loose. But now he felt sick with himself for putting him through that. Why, why was he doing this? Gil didn't deserve this kind of treatment.
Gil gave him his answer. As soon as Jesse said that there was something wrong with him Gil told him why. It was his own powers effecting him. Jesse looked at the hellhound in shock as those words finally sunk into his thick skull. Of course, it all made sense now. All of these murderous thoughts and anger were things that Guillotine had trouble with in the past. When Jesse copied his ability to transform it was possible that he got the instincts along with his new form. “God damn it!” Jesse growled, he let go of Gil as he took a few steps back, forcing himself to return to his human form and proceeded to slam his fist into the floor. “I should have known! I should have fucking known!” This wasn't the first time he had been 'successful' in his mimicking, the last time he copied the power he wanted he worn himself out all because he didn't know he could control it. This time he thought it would have been different. “I didn't think at all. All I was thinking about was getting at that damn wolf guy so I just copied you. I didn't think about the downsides that might come with it.” Now he felt like a moron. He had been living with Gil for months now, he knew Gil had violent instincts it was highly possible that he would get the same instincts by copying Gil. It was possible, yet he didn't even think about that till it was shoved right in his face.
Jesse slowly turned his gaze back to Guillotine. At least the hellhound besides looking shook up was not too badly hurt. Too bad he couldn't say the same for his living room. The man's little transforming trick left noticeable burn marks on the wall behind Gil and the floor as well. The man sighed, he was thankful at least that he stopped before he did any serious damage. “I'm...I'm sorry for snapping at you like that.” he apologized. “And about today in general.” Jesse sighed once more. “So...this is what its like inside your head huh? I guess I can't really blame you for how you were like in the past. I'm bad enough just having to deal with this for one damn day, but you have to deal with this shit from the time you were born. How do you deal with it?”

Fear, it was an emotion Guillotine hadn’t felt in a long time. The last time he was this scared had been back when his old pack mate Havoc had captured Akeelah. Back then, he was scared for his mate’s life not necessarily his own. Invoking a feeling such as this from Guillotine was a feat in and of itself. If Jesse hadn’t listened to his instincts there would have been a chance that this outcome would have been vastly different. It was safe to say that Guillotine would have been the one to cause Jesse harm if the human hadn’t acted. Luckily for the both of them they had come out of his conflict seemingly unscathed. Gil however did have a few scratches on his shoulder from Jesse’s claws. Though, It wasn’t much compared to what could have happened. Just the thought of being dominated, mangled, or killed by Jesse frightened Gil. Suppose shock played an important role in this fear? The human wouldn’t hurt a fly, but now he was an angry beast. Hell, Jesse had nearly killed Gil during this argument.
The hound had yet to move from where he was standing. Even as Jesse removed his paw Guillotine’s tall frame remained against the singed wall. His blood red eyes widened when the human shifted back into his original form. Even after his roommate changed back the look of horror could still be seen on Gil’s handsome face. Trembling, Gil cursed to himself. How could he be so weak? Gil’s eyes remained on the floor and despite the throbbing pain in his shoulder he didn’t move. His hands remained at his side. Tired, Gil’s body began to slump. He wouldn’t move until Jesse backed down.
Needless to say, the male didn’t like being reacquainted with this feeling. It made him feel so weak, so powerless. As Jesse yelled the hellhound jumped. It was almost are if he were expecting to be attacked again. This sudden burst of anger startled him. Was Jesse going to come at him again? It appeared that Jesse was just angry, the human stayed in his weaker form which made Gil relax a bit. The human ranted to himself, sounding a bit upset. Regardless, Gil gave the man a warning growl for good measure.
When Jesse calmed down enough to speak Guillotine’s anxiety began to wind down. The situation had settled. “Yes, that is what I go through every day.” The hellhound then cocked an eyebrow. He’d gained the courage to lift his head, but not yet look the human in the eye. Was Jesse trying to sympathize with him? Gil listened to what he had said. A light smirk graced his pale face. Well, this was new. Gil wasn’t entirely sure what to say. Apart of him wanted to make Jesse feel a bit better. It was hard to control instinct, but the human had managed fairly well. “It really isn’t that bad, Jesse. It feels natural to me.”
Finally, the hell hound gained enough confidence to look Jesse in the eye. His own orbs remained their solid blood red color. Jesse continued to speak. Asking the hound how he could tame his instinct. Gil shook his head. He should have expected this. Instinct wasn’t something Jesse could just turn on and off. It would become apart of him. “You don’t control instinct, Jesse. It controls you. ” Was it possible for Jesse to over come the instinct? Jesse wasn't a hellhound, he was a human. Could there be a possibility that he could gain control over something as powerful as animistic instinct? That was something to think about.
Guillotine wince a bit as he leaned off the wall. With everything that had transpired Gil had nearly forgotten about the light scratch on his shoulder. As he slipped away and strolled over to the couch the male spoke, “Maybe with enough practice you can overcome the instinct. After all, you are still human. ” The hound grabbed the bottom of his shirt before slipping it over his head. He then tossed it carelessly onto the floor and began to look over his new wound. Pale fingers lightly ran over the jagged reddish marks. Gil sighed, It was just another bunch of scars to add to the collection. Luckily the damage had not been worse. The hound shrugged it off and turned back to Jesse. “I’m sorry to say this but there really isn’t anything you can do. You could try to preoccupy your mind with something else for the time being, but don’t expect that to save you. “
It was about time, Jesse was starting to understand where he was coming from. Suppose having him turn wasn’t so bad after all? Gil thought for a moment. Scratching his stubbly chin he said, “Don’t be too surprised if you start getting weird urges.” The male leaned back against the couch. “Like if you have the sudden feeling you want to mark your territory on the side of your house, chase the cat next door, or even lick your own balls. I-It happens. D-Don’t judge me!” Now that Jesse had calmed down a little he had done the same. After propping his feet onto the table he sighed. ” Other than that, just consider this your personal hell for the day.” In the back of Gil’s mind he was still thinking about what Jesse had said before. He wouldn’t bring it back up until the time was right. If another fight was to break out Jesse’s home was done for. “Despite almost getting my throat ripped out it is kinda’ nice having another hellhound around. “

Things were finally starting to calm down a little now that the fight was over, which Jesse was grateful for. Dear god was he glad to have some sanity back. It had been a really close call for Guillotine today. Poor Gil had a close call with death, and by the hands of his roommate no less. Jesse felt terrible, he really did. He had not planned for things to go this badly. The man may not be the smartest or most mature in the household but he did have a good enough head on his shoulders to avoid things like that. That head unfortunately was a bit loose thanks to his new found instincts. It was jarring dealing with such a murderous mindset as suddenly as he had. Jesse knew full well that Guillotine had a natural tendency for this sort of thing. The guy after all was a dog from hell. Anything from hell was not likely to be nice and friendly. Still, it was one thing knowing something existed and experiencing it for himself. This instinct completely changed who he was in only the course of a few hours. Jesse was pretty gentle in nature, even if he tried to deny it. The worst he ever did was joke about being a bad ass, but he wasn't the violent type, he couldn't be a total asshole even if he tried. But now because of this he had nearly sunk his fangs into his friend's throat, not to mention attacking the guy he was sent to bring in earlier.
He hated this feeling, he needed to get rid of these damn violent desires as soon as he could before he did something he'd really regret. Deep down he knew he was screwed though. It was one thing if it was just thoughts in his head. Everyone thought violent thoughts at one point of their life when they were mad at someone. It was one thing to think, but another to have your body act out on its own. He hadn't been thinking when he lunged at Gil or chased after that wolf. He just did it. How was he suppose to stop himself if he couldn't tell what he was doing in the first place? Still the man held some hope that it was possible. To some degree Gil was able to control himself. Despite his tendencies Gil didn't attack everyone he met, hell he even went against his own instincts to get with a cat shapeshifter, he was sure the one person in this house that understood what he was going through would be able to tell him something, reassure him that he wouldn't go completely mad before this was all over. Sadly Guillotine would not offer such comfort. The hellhound told him quite bluntly that it wasn't possible for him.
Jesse sighed, it wasn't like he didn't see that answer coming but it was still disheartening to hear none the less. There did seem to be some doubt in Gil's mind on the matter it seemed. The hound did make a good point, Jesse was not a full fledged hellhound, even now he was still human. That meant these dangerous instincts might not be out of the realm of possibility for him to control. Jesse scratched his chin as he thought what Gil had said over. Gil might be right on him not being able to have absolute control over himself but maybe he could have some form of self control. He did managed to snap himself out of his bloodlust twice today. It hadn't been easy but the fact that it happened meant it was possible to do if he had more experience with it. “I guess you are right there.” the man mused when Gil suggested he tried to keep his mind preoccupied if he wanted to keep himself under wraps. “At the moment all I want to do is rip into something.” Jesse's crimson gaze held onto Gil as he spoke. The beast in him was still riled up after their fight but thankfully it didn't seem to want Gil's blood. Maybe it had something to do with Gil being a hound himself. It made sense that he would have less of an urge to tear into another hellhound. So long as they didn't get into another fight that is.
The man couldn't help but laugh when Gil brought up the strange urges. “So long as I don't start humping peoples legs I should be okay.” he chuckled. “Though the territory part might be a problem. Especially when you are already peeing on my damn house like you own it.” Yes Jesse was still annoyed with Gil marking his turf around the place, it was even more troublesome to him now that he was like this. He couldn't let Gil go claiming his turf, then he'd start acting like the place was his and then Jesse would end up being his bitch. Maybe he should go out right now and cover up his marks...no, bad thought, bad thought! Jesse shook his head. “God damn it, now you are giving me ideas.” the man whined. “I like dogs and all but I never thought I would end up becoming one...I'm not sure I like it either. Thank god this is only for a day.” the man chuckled again when Gil said it was kind of nice having another hellhound to hang with. “Don't get to used to it, by the time we wake up tomorrow I will be back to my old human self. After that I don't think I will ever do this again. Its a little too dangerous to be turning into you.”
He had to admit that it wasn't all that bad. It had been rather useful having that beast form for their mission today. It might have caused him to act out badly without meaning to but he would never had gotten that wolf to listen to him if he couldn't catch up. The power that came with it was nice too. The fact that he could actually overpower Guillotine when in any other instance he would have gotten his butt mauled if he tried was hard to pass up. A strange thought came into the man's head then. Jesse sat there on the floor silently watching Gil as he considered the thought. “Or...maybe I might do this more often...this could end up being beneficial to the both of us you know.”
“You know that I don't have a great handle on my power. As a mimic I am pretty pathetic. Most of my kind can do much more than I can. Some can completely transform into another person, they can even willingly use the powers they copied from others any time they wish without the original owner around. I can't do anything close to that. Some of the experts back at the PIDA said I might not ever be able to get on that level because I am not a pure mimic. But that doesn't mean I can't improve someday. I need to train, I know it. Even TB told me that...or rather nag me like he's my fucking mother ever since you mauled me in front of him. But I never could get the chance to practice. I need a partner for that, someone who's powers would be plainly obvious to see if I was successful. There wasn't anyone in my group that fit the bill for that...that is, until you showed up.” It was a crazy idea. So crazy that it just might work. Gil's powers were basic enough to copy, making him a decent practice dummy for someone like him. He could make use of this opportunity.
“So how about this. Why don't you help me with my mimicking? I can get some training done, and you will have a canine companion to chill with. We can make it a bonding experience. I will need to do more than just learn how to copy you anyway. I have to learn how to fight, hunt, and track as a hellhound. And I definitely need to learn how to reign in some of the instincts that come with it. Who knows, if were lucky I will get at the point where I can mimic you without you having to be around me. How does that sound to you?”

Today had turned out to be more action packed than Gil had anticipated. First he’d attempted to capture a suspect after a grueling chase through the junkyard, and now he’d nearly gotten into a fight with his blood thirsty roommate. Guillotine had been begging for some action for quite some time. Now that he was regretting it. Not only had he almost gotten his throat ripped out but his ego had been knocked down a few pegs thanks to this experience. With everything was said and done the hound tried his best to act like it hadn’t bothered him. Boy, did he really f*ck up on that end. Not only had Guillotine showed weakness but he had also refused to look Jesse in the eye after the ordeal. That was a clear sign that he had given in. Despite this Gil had suddenly tried to act like it didn’t bother him. Guillotine was sure Jesse wouldn’t fall for this ruse now that he was a hellhound for a day. The human could probably sense his discomfort and smell his fear. There was no going back now. As of today, he was Jesse’s bitch. Even after being dominated The hound could see regret plastered onto his roommate's face. Gil felt a bit sorry for Jesse. The human should have felt powerful after this fight. Instead he appeared to be sporting a guilty look. This situation was surely an eye opener for the agent. As a human he was wearing the skin and feeling the instinct of a full blooded hellhound. That had to be an experience in itself.
Sorrow wormed its way back into Gil’s skull as he turned his attention to the pack of cigarettes that lay on the table before him. His pale hands ran through his short black hair as he silently contemplated whether to light up a cigarette or not. After pushing his hair out of his face Gil reached for the pack. After all that had happened today he really needed a smoke. God, how could he have been so weak? Why on earth didn’t he transform when Jesse attacked him? He’d filtered, that had nearly killed him; but why? This was a question that had began to plague Gil’s mind since the incident. The hound pulled a cancer stick and a lighter out of the pack. He then pushed his hand between the couch cushions and pulled out a half chewed frisbee. Since he didn’t have an ashtray this would have to do. The hound sighed, set the frisbee in his lap and lit up his cigarette. Guillotine didn’t seem to care if Jesse wanted him to smoke in the house or not. He’d been having a craving for the stuff all day and after his experience with Jesse he didn’t want to get up and walk outside. The male didn’t want Jesse’s hellhound mind to think he was so weak to walk out on him. After taking a long drag the hound flicked the ashes into the frisbee.
Jesse had began to mull over what Gil had said before. A moment of silence filled the room and Gil finally had some time to think. With the nicotine in his system he had began to calm down. So much so that his eyes had shifted back to their original green hue. There was something on his mind, something that was bothering him. The question of not transforming surfaced again. Why hadn't he changed when Jesse did? Could it have been the medication holding him back? That was a possibility. Well, if that was true then why didn’t it affect him when they were chasing after the wolf? All think thinking was starting to give Guillotine a headache.
So many questions, and no answers.
Jesse broken the silence with his voice. Gil looked back over to find that his eyes were still blood red. He couldn’t drop his guard around Jesse. Not until he calmed down. It was clear that the man was still feeling the brunt of his hellish nature. Nevertheless, Gil listened to what he had to say. The human replied to Guillotine's statement. So the human wanted to rip into something? If Jesse wanted to come after him he would have done it already. The human must been feeling the urge to hunt. Gil flashed a light smirk. He knew today was going to be an interesting day. “Well, then maybe that is what you should do?” The hound took another drag on his cancer stick. “We can go hunting later if you like. It’s been a while since I’ve last had deer or bear for that matter…-Don’t get me started on human. It is the best tasting meat you will ever eat. But, as you know, it comes with a price.”
A loud boisterous chuckle surged from Gil’s throat. The hound had nearly knocked his makeshift ashtray over laughing at what Jesse had said next. The agent had spoken about humping someone’s leg. Oh, that would be a sight to see. Guillotine wiped a stray tear from his eye and said, “Don’t rule out that possibility, Jesse. If you find yourself a pretty girl who knows what you will do.” Maybe having Jesse as a canine companion wouldn’t be so bad. Sure, he would have to deal with him being the alpha for now, but in turn he would have another hellhound to hang with. It would be like the good old days. This human was full of surprises. The hound decided to tease Jesse when he said he liked dogs. “I don’t think we would get along if you were a cat person.”
When Jesse brought up marking his territory Guillotine rolled his eyes. Oh boy, It was only a matter of time until the male brought this sh*t up. Gil would just humor him. What more could he do? He certainly wasn’t about to fight Jesse again over the subject. “If it is that much of a problem then why don’t you go outside and piss over where I've marked?” Despite this being a mild annoyance Gil was a bit amused at the thought of Jesse marking his territory. “You might want to drink plenty of water first because I’ve marked my territory in more than one place.” The hound gave Jesse and arrogant snort. Oh, what a day this was turning out to be. “Good, with any luck you will become an asshole just like me.” The hound then whine when Jesse explained that he would be back to his usual human self the next day. “ I don’t want you to go back to your old boring self. The hellhound side of you is more exciting.”
After some time of thinking it over Jesse appeared to change his mind. Needless to say, Gil was excited to hear that the human wanted to become a hellhound. Guillotine would have to teach him everything he knew. This brought a smile to Guillotine's Face. The hound then listened as Jesse explained his powers. Gil did feel sorry for him after hearing this. They were kindred spirits. Gil also had a bit of a handicap. “Don’t feel too bad, Jesse. If you haven't noticed I don’t have the power to summon fire like other hellhounds, and even that damn wolf.” Gil growled.
“ It is a shame you had to copy the only hellhound in the city who can't control fire.” This was one handicap Guillotine didn’t like to talk about. Without this fire power a new power rose within the hound. He may not have the ability to control fire but he did have strength to compensate. His master must have been a real ass whenever he was handing out powers to his creations. Why was the hellhound telling the human this anyway? Wasn’t it any of his business? Seeing as Jesse spilled his guts the hound decided too as well. Now that Jesse was an alpha in Gil’s eyes it appeared that he had began to look up to the human. The agent had definitely earned some respect after their little scuffle. It was safe to say that Gil was starting to see Jesse as another hound, which in a since was good for their relationship.
Guillotine thought about Jesse’s proposal for a moment. How could he possibly turn down an opportunity like this? It had been ages since he’d last interacted with his own pack. It would be nice to finally get some hellhound company. On the plus side there would be someone was there to understand him. After a moment, Guillotine gave Jesse a large toothy grin. “ Very well, I don't mind being your guinea-dog. It does sound like fun. ” The male then placed the ashtray onto the table and slowly stood up with the cigarette still in his mouth. He looked down at Jesse, not daring to take a step towards him until he was sure he was relaxed enough to approach. Bloodlust was a powerful thing. It was possibly for a pack of hellhound to attack each other just because they were lost in a sea of instinct. Gil didn’t want that to happen to Jesse and himself. So he would play the beta role until he was sure Jesse wouldn't try to dominate him. With a smoky sigh the hound said, “I’ll teach you everything I know. “

Though things had seemed to calm down between the two men Jesse felt a bit of tension. Now that he knew what was wrong with him it was a bit easier to tell what was bothering him. While the man didn't feel as much of an urge to attack his roommate again, all that excitement from the chase before and his little scuffle with Gil left the man feeling tense and excited. There was just too much pent up energy in the man to not feel like ripping something apart. That would be easy enough to accomplish if he wanted to. There was plenty of steak stocked up in his fridge that he could sink his fangs into. Jesse had been buying nice big and juicy steaks ever since Guillotine moved in with him. All he needed to do was warm it up a bit and it was good to go. It might be Gil's food but he'd only be doing it for a day. It wasn't like he couldn't just buy back what he ate later. But Jesse knew that there wasn't any point in doing that. Steak was just not going to satisfy his desires. He didn't want to just eat, he wanted to hunt. He wanted to chase something down and hear it scream as he tore into it.
He knew that what he was thinking was bad. This was the same kind of thinking that got Guillotine into trouble in the first place. He couldn't do it, not here anyway. There wasn't any real prey in the city that he could safely go after. Even if he were to go to the forest there was a chance he could run into people there, they could be anyone, campers, hikers, or just someone out for a little stroll in the forest. As he was now he couldn't really trust himself to not consider other humans prey like this. It had been hard enough to snap himself out of his bloodlust with Gil earlier, and he was a friend of is. How much harder would it be to snap himself out of murdering someone he never met before? He couldn't indulge this feeling, not alone anyway. Jesse was about to consider some other alternative when Guillotine told him he should just go with it. “No way I can do that man.” the man replied. “Even if I knew the first thing about hunting I can't be trusted to go out on my own as I am and not end up killing someone.” when Gil said he could take him out hunting though the man changed his tune. Jesse considered the proposal for a second. He couldn't be trusted on his own but he wouldn't be on his own. It was still a bit risky given Gil's history but he really did want to hunt.
“On second thought if you come with me that wouldn't be too bad. Just make sure to keep me off of any humans or sups that we might come across and we should be good.” The last thing he wanted to happen was get into trouble. It would look bad for the PIDA to have two of their agents suddenly attack the very people they were sworn to protect. It could be potentially worse for Gil. While Jesse would be for sure imprisoned for acting so recklessly Gil wouldn't get that luxury. The agency already had it out for the real hellhound here, one wrong move and they would just put him to sleep. If they didn't TB was sure as hell going to put a bullet right between Gil's eyes for taking Jesse down the wrong path. Just the thought of that sent a shiver through the man. TB was pretty protective over him when it came to Gil. His old british friend disliked Gil from the first day they had met. Things had gotten a little better since TB was shafted into working with Gil but that didn't mean he still didn't trust the hellhound living with his friend.
Jesse forced those thoughts out of his head. He was thinking about this too much. Just because that was the worse case scenario didn't mean that it was bound to happen. It was all things to worry about if the time came, and that was a pretty damn big if. The man frowned when he saw Gil pull out a cigarette but didn't bother to make a move to stop him. Though Jesse had been trying to get Gil off those damn cancer sticks even he had to admit that Gil needed a bit of a break. A lot had happened today, stressing out on the small stuff wouldn't make things better. He could stop him if he wanted to though, he knew it. Gil's strange behaviour hadn't gone unnoticed with him. As much as Gil tried to hide it he could still smell the fear coming off of him, and the fact he couldn't look him in the eye. That last part could only mean one thing. Jesse was the alpha. That was probably the only good thing about their fight today. By beating Gil he gained more authority...for today at least. There was no telling how things would be when he was back to normal. For today at least Jesse was top dog, which meant he could do whatever he wanted with Gil.
The idea was amusing, but he wouldn't do it. He wasn't that much of a dick to start abusing his powers. Besides, Gil was going to have to teach him about the life he was going to be living for the rest of the day, or possibly longer than that. The last thing he needed to do was piss off the one guy willing to help him out. At least he didn't have to worry about pissing Gil off much right now. The hellhound seemed to start getting in a better mood once he had his cigarette, he even laughed at Jesse's humping joke, making Jesse laugh too. “That would be one way to lose a girl. My game is bad enough as it is, I don't need to start adding leg humping into it.” he joked. It was nice to relieve some of the tension like this, just joking around with each other. But it couldn't last forever. Eventually the conversation turned back to Jesse's transformation serious time. At first Jesse was sure that he would never do this again, much to the dismay of his roommate. In the man's eyes it was too risky if this would be how he was twenty four seven. But the more he thought about it the more it seemed like a decent idea. While there were obvious downsides it wasn't like he couldn't learn how to deal with them. All he needed was time to learn, and that he definitely had. Gil seemed pleased with the idea, and who could blame him? It probably was good for Gil to have another hellhound around and with Jesse's powers he was the closest thing to another hound he would ever get.
The only downside was Jesse's own limitations. The man knew full well that there was a chance that all this training could be all for nothing. Most of his agent friends already knew the problem with Jesse's powers. Unlike the rest of them who couldn't control their powers because they had only recently discovered them Jesse's lack of control was more than just that. Jesse was only a mimic thanks to a genetic hiccup. He was more human than he was a mimic and thus it limited him. As for how much he didn't know but it was enough to shatter his hopes of getting far with it. Even with TB bugging him to at least try he didn't think he could do much. He couldn't help but confess that to Gil. Out of everyone that knew him Gil was the only one who didn't know just how messed up his powers were, and if he was going to be his training partner that would have to change.
To his surprise he wasn't the only one with a major flaw. After he told Gil the truth about his powers the hellhound admitted he couldn't wield fire like the rest of his kind was able to do. That surprised him. Jesse had no idea that hellhounds were able to do such a thing. Jesse couldn't help but smile hearing that. He wasn't the only one with this kind of problem. It wasn't necessarily a good thing but it did make him feel a little less alone. “I'm not dissappointed about that at all.” Jesse said. “You might not have fire but you are pretty damn awesome without it. You used to lead a pack right? You can't have done that if you weren't stronger than the rest of your packmates. There fire powers didn't help them much in a fight with you now did they?” He really did think that Gil was pretty awesome as he was. The more Jesse got to know about his roommate the more he ended up growing on him, and he was learning something new about the guy every day. This training plan was perfect for them, even if it didn't wield any results he couldn't complain if this at least brought the two closer. Jesse got back up on his feet and cracked his knuckles.
“Okay, we can get ready for some hunting lessons soon. We can take a bit of a relaxer first if you need it then head out. I just...wanna take care of a few things first before we go.” Like get a bit of marking done. Talk about habits, the man didn't want to say it but he was already feeling a bit of that himself. He couldn't just leave the house without establishing it as his first. What if some other dog came around and tried to mark his place while they were gone? Gil was one thing, but he couldn't let some other mutt pull that shit on him too right?

Jesse didn’t seem to fond of going out hunting by himself. Who could blame him. The man had just recently obtained the ability to transform into a hellhound. With his new found instinct who knows what kind of mess Jesse could get himself into. Especially now that he knows what kind of damage he could do to other people. This wasn’t at all surprising to Gil. If in Jesse’s shoes he probably would have had the same doubts. Why couldn’t Jesse just be as carefree as Gil used to be? Without his medication Guillotine would still be a bloodthirsty killer and probably lead Jesse down that same path. However, with his sedatives in his system the urge to kill wasn’t as powerful as it had been before. “I guess that is just the kind of chance you will have to take.” Guillotine replied, he took another drag from his cigarette. The hound was happy to see that Jesse didn’t care about him smoking in the house. Suppose the man was lightening his hold on the reins after their little scuffle? Regardless, Gil would enjoy his free smoke while he had the chance. After a moment of thinking it over Jesse had changed his mind about the whole hunting thing. It was obvious that the human was starting to get control of his instinctual urges. “I don’t mind accompanying you on hunts. You don’t even know how to track prey down anyway, you’ll be out there running in circles.”
Guillotine let the smoke drift from his mouth as Jesse spoke about girls. He appeared to have had a hard time with the opposite sex. “With that attitude It is a wonder female even give you the time of day.” Jesse was a bit of a hopeless romantic. Suppose Gil, and his new found instinct could change that? Gil pondered this over for a moment. Jesse seemed like a nice guy. He was sure to find himself a mate. The hound shrugged at Jesse’s comment. “I don’t know about that, Jesse. Maybe you will find yourself a nice female hellhound who won’t mind it too much.“ The hound stretched before looking over at Jesse, whom had stood up at this point. He didn’t seem to be showing any signs of aggression so Gil took a step towards him. All the while balancing his cancer stick between his index and middle finger. “I can help you out with the ladies, but you are going to have to do a little something for me in return.” A wicked grin had appeared onto his face. If Jesse wanted some female company he would have to do Gil a solid. The male wanted nothing more than to see his mate Akeelah again. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen. So instead Gil was going to have Jesse do the next best thing and get a picture of his Ex mate for him. The hound had never had an actual picture of her. Instead he carried around an image of a completely unrelated Leopard, whom he wasn’t sure if it was a female leopard, but it was a leopard nonetheless. It reminded him of his mate so he kept it around. “If you get me a picture of Akeelah I will teach you how to pick up chicks. How does that sound?”
“W-What?” A light blush had made it’s way to Guillotine’s cheeks. Did Jesse really mean it when he said he was cool? Jesse was many things but a liar wasn’t one. The hound appeared to be a bit embarrassed by this. “Y-You really mean that?” No one had ever called him cool before. Well, other than his ex pack mate Roach. But he was just a stupid pup, no one ever believed him. Besides, It felt a bit more genuine when it came from Jesse. The hound awkwardly scratched the back of his head and looked away for a moment. It was strange that he picked now to show some humbleness. Maybe it had something to do with Jesse being the Alpha? Despite being in an alpha position it appeared that Jesse was still kind enough to give Gil a bit of an ego boost. Jesse did have a point though. Guillotine did rule over his pack with an iron paw. After hearing those kind words Gil felt good. With a toothy grin he turned back to Jesse. “Damn straight I did! None of those pups dared to challenge me.” All except Havoc. Gil’s smile seemed to die at the thought of his old beta friend. Gil understood why Havoc did what he did. The hellhound did rule his pack, but whenever he got close to the humans his outlook changed. Guillotine grew selfish. Havoc must have seen this as weakness and acted in the best interest of for pack. Pushing those thoughts aside, Gil turned back to Jesse and said. “Sure, I don’t mind getting a little sunbathing done.” He then cocked his head to the side as Jesse stated that he had some stuff of his own to do. By the sound of it Jesse seemed to want to do something other than play on the computer for once. Curious, Gil asked, “What did you have in mind?”
