She knew she wasn't supposed to be out here. She knew this very well. Her brothers would fret and worry over Lilium, especially Gabe. Lil couldn't blame her family for worrying, they had every right to. She could easily be ambushed in her condition now, easily taken by surprise, never being able to hear them coming. The young female didn't seem to care though. She fancied herself to be a more modern "Juliet" as the humans would refer her as, seeing as she liked to slip away from her family to be with a male who belonged to a despised family.
Lilium bounced into the woods in her Oushaga form, which almost resembled that of a small lion. A smile was on her muzzle as she ran to an oh so familiar area in this forest. She was heading for "their" place, their little Paradise. Although their Paradise no longer had a sense of innocence to it like it once did. There was darkness to it now, anger and sorrow. It still held many good memories though...Lil still loved it. She was unsure if her love Esmek still held a fondness for it or not...in reality, he most likely didn't, but he tolerated it for Lil's sake. It was hard telling what he thought or felt. Of course, he would never be able to share words with her again, not physically heard words anyways. Silence is what held the two together, what made them a true tragedy. Perhaps it made them stronger though. Alas, it only fueled the flames for the Kriotags and Seskrits. Lil always felt sad that she and Es' relationship would never truly be accepted. It never will be though, and for as long as they lived, Lil and Es would forever have to sneak around to be together. For the most part though, Lil was truly happy, and that's what counted.
Lil halted in her tracks as she came upon the tree that she and Es had been coming to for years. It was a lovely tree that stood in the center of a small clearing. It was as if the spot had been made for the young lovers. For all she knew, perhaps it was. Another smile popped on her face as she neared the tree. Lil then giggled to herself and began to climb the tree. If things went her way, perhaps she could actually try and surprise Esmek for once with a tackle-pounce! She giggled again and settled down quietly on one of the large branches, keeping her eyes peeled for any signs of her mate.

Esmek looked down at his feet. They were taking him to see his wonderful matesprit- whom, really shouldn't be as close to him as she was, for more reasons than one. Sure their families hated each other, and when Lilium wasn't around the Oushaga could be rather... Obnoxiously absurd to them,- especially her overprotective brother, Gabriel- and sure she was deaf, but none of this was her fault. Really, Esmek couldn't remember the reason the families feude the way they did anyway. However, the second part especially was not the young woman's fault. Poor Lili, it was his own fault her hearing wasn't with her anymore. And of course Esmek felt his missing tongue and stitched lips weren't and never would be enough, but Lili seemingly still loved him. Which in a way, only made him feel worse. But things were different now, this was a couple years or so ago and the two had adjusted.
In fact, Esmek was on his way to meet her now! He didn't bother sneaking, because nothing dared attack him in his Oushaga form. This form was rather fun, actually. It reminded him of a panda, which were pretty darn cute. Stopping for a moment, he rolled over onto his back. Staring up at the cloudy, darkening sky, Esmek wiggled a bit. Damned back itches! Those little f*ckers always popped up at the worst f*cking times. Rather than lounging about staring into nothing, Esmek "skillfully" maneuvered back to his paws, giving a shake to loosen some dirt. It was in his sight now, their tree. This place has so many bitter memories. Well, really only two or three as opposed to the bajillions of good ones they had. But really all it took to ruin something sweet was just a bad hint of sour.
Insert some snazzy, deep, meaningful and insightful quote here. The man shrugged and shifted into his naked form. Of course he wasn't truly naked, but he had less fur. Except on his head, where he had tons of it. It was dark black like in his Oushaga form, but it had a couple natural lighter blonde streaks. Gabe teased him for dying it, when in reality, Esmek had no f*cking clue what that even meannt. Why would he kill his hair? His hair was his friend, and it was nice and soft. Like a panda. Or at least Esmek assumed. He'd never actually felt one before, but he wanted to. Lili's hair was soft too, but like a kitty. She purred like one too sometimes, and it made Esmek smile and give one of those closed mouth laughs too. She couldn't hear it, but she could always see and feel his body rise and fall, and she wold always laugh in return. Lilium had such a charmingly adorable giggle. It truly was a shame she couldn't hear it.
This was Esmek's reason for traveling to the tree tonight, actually. Walking with hands in his pockets, Esmek loved coming to the tree, solely because Lili still seemed to enjoy it. It was a tree far larger and wider than it's neighbors, and it seemed to have a softer kind of bark. Almost like it was made to have a man lean against while he holds his love between his arms. Esmek still had a fondness for the tree, but it was a different one from Lilium. Either way, he still liked coming here-- But only with Lili. Slowly approaching the tree, Esmek looked about for the girl. It was slightly unnerving, what with her inability to hear any sort of danger that could approach her from behind. But she was strong. Stronger than he may be, at times. Blinking blue eyes, the man smiled and cocked a brow. He could definitely scent a certain woman in the area. He dared not look up. Rather, the man looked straight ahead. Esmek didn't want to look in any other direction, because he had a strange feeling Lili would pop out of nowhere. Smiling, he waited for her to reveal herself, standing with hands in purple jean pockets.

Lili was excited, just as she always was. As each second past, she felt like she was going to burst from waiting for Esmek to arrive. She fidgeted on her tree limb, twitching her tail and kneading her paws into the hardy wood. Her eyes continued to scour the perimeter while her nose sniffed at the air, trying to catch a whiff of her matesprit. Every few minutes, Lili would giggle to herself and would purr just shortly after. There were times where she missed hearing her own purrs, and even her sister Nari's. Purring sounded so funny to her, much like a...what is it? A "motor boat"? She thought that was the correct human words. But, she would never hear such a sound again, nor anything else naturally. She missed her hearing sure, but she had come to terms with his loss of hearing, and she didn't mourn it as much as she use to. Sure, sometimes Lili felt bitter about it, even felt little sparks of anger. Sometimes when she felt angry, she would run to the forest and hunt, or claw the living shit out of a tree or two. Of course she would have to sneak away to do it, seeing as her siblings would worry and follow her or something. Lili didn't get angry often anymore, because she tried to focus on the good things in her life. She had a family that cared for her, even if they were a bit over protective, and she had a loving matesprit, who sacrificed his own ability to communicate for her. It had upset Lili greatly, and it still does even now. But, the two had long since figured out a way to communicate in their permanent silence.
Lili wiggled in her tree branch when she caught the scent of Esmek in the breeze. And sure enough, there he was, sauntering into the clearing in his human form. Even in human form Esmek was quite the looker. He even once had the gorgeous voice to go along with his looks. It was a shame that no one would hear his voice again. He seemed to know Lili was there, but where however, he didn't know, or he pretended to not know. As quietly as she could, the young female hopped down from her tree, landing "quietly" somewhere behind Esmek. She quickly shifted into her human form and ran up to him, her long red hair trailing behind her, and pounced onto his back.
"Essy!" She squeaked, hugging the male tightly. "I missed you!" The girl said, purring happily.

One had to understand that solitude was something that Gabe didn't just enjoy, but treasured. He took the quiet loneliness at any chance he got, which happened quite often, actually. People rarely questioned him on where he was heading off to anymore, or what he was doing. They knew what the answer would be, the same same old, "Out," as he always gave. His answer was short and curt, which many found to be rude and immature. He simply found it as a way to get rid of people just that much quicker. You couldn't blame the kid. He could barely stand the company of others anymore. His family, well... he did love his family, sure, but at times they could just grow to be way too overwhelming. Always wanting to hang out and yell obnoxious things in his ear. It just didn't fly with him, he wasn't that kind of easygoing person anymore. He had been, once, long, long ago, but that hadn't lasted for long. He had to ditch the jokes and smiles for a more serious, grown up attitude. The war broken him out of his childish ways in a matter of minutes. As for the rest of the world's population, well, he just couldn't stand them anymore either. What with their hurried everyday bustle and impatient wants, and who could leave out those faces that he passed by on occasion that just so happened to look like a lost shadow of an old fallen comrade's face. It made his chest tighten.
And so, the obvious thing to do was be alone. Duh. Gabriel knew that he was a bit silly when it all came down to it. The things others said were beginning to leave their mark on his already beaten down body. Why should he be so depressed? Nothing could be that bad. There's always another path, another chance. We all have choices, choose to straighten up and deal with it already. The Oushaga was beginning to crumble away, bit by bit. One wouldn't know it, but he wasn't just a big, giant, heartless jerk. He had a heart too, as well as a mind well overflowing with thoughts and memories. Asking him to let that all go would be easy. But that was the problem. He couldn't let it go. The male often wondered to himself what he would be like if he had a new mind to him. If something, just something, happened to happen and he, oh, lost his memory. All of it. Would he be kind, open? Willing to actually get close to others and share a friendly smile with them? He had never experienced even the slightest hint of amnesia before though. He doubted it was even possible for him, if it hadn't happened already with all he had been through. A shame, that was. He despised what he was, but he did it and made himself that way anyways. He did it not only to protect himself, but also the ones he cared about. And the ones he cared about consisted of only his family now. They were still enough of a reason for him to carry on.
Speaking of his family, Gabe could very clearly make out the scent of his sister. Well, one of them, anyways. Lilium. What was she doing this far out into the woods? Being the protective - if not slightly overprotective - brother he was, the dark-haired boy followed the trail of his sister's scent. As he did so, an uncomfortable feeling began to ball itself in the pit of his stomach. Not that something was wrong, necessarily, just that he was stepping into territory that he most certainly was not permitted to cross over into. Pushing aside a few branches as he walked, he thought about why he was out here. Well, the answer was a given. Gabriel always came out to the forest to walk in lone silence. This was usually where he allowed his thoughts to take over his mind, or where he tried to contain and control them. It really depended on the day. Today he had been wavering between the two. He didn't feel like breaking down yet again in such a short amount of time, but his mind was being a persistent b*tch. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Continuing his quiet walk, he was surprised to find another scent mingling into his sister's. One that he knew all too well as well.
Anger flared in him, his hands clenching into tightly bound fists by his sides. Esmek. That Seskrit was no good for his sister, why was she so blind to see that? He would be her ruin. If Gabe were to just stand by and let it happen, of course. And obviously, he was not one to do such a thing. No, he would fight for his sister's well-being, as well as his family name. It had been so long since the feud had started that it was beginning fuzzy in his mind, but he would uphold it no matter. He was a soldier, and he would never give up a fight. Not until it was over, one way or another. Picking up his pace - nothing surprising, he had been in his human form the entire time - Gabriel made his way closer to the lovestruck couple. His senses were only slightly dulled in this form, after so many years of honing in on them and building them up. His ears could very clearly make out the crystal clear sound of Lili's voice, and with it the sound of a nickname she had for her companion. Feeling his already-there grimace deepen, Gabe broke into the area, his dark eyes immediately locking on his sister and Esmek. If he didn't care for her so, he would have marched right up to them and tore her off of the Seskrit. But, seeing as how he did care for her, he restrained himself, resorting to crossing his arms instead so he didn't end up doing something that would undoubtedly get him in trouble.
"You have to be joking." Gabriel spoke just loud enough for Esmek to hear him, his obvious disapproval flowing clearly beneath the sound of his monotone voice. He eyed the way Lili clung to Esmek's back with a narrowed gaze, hoping she would get the message and get off immediately. Leave it to Gabe to be papa bear when the proper authoritative figure was not around. "Step away from my sister," he demanded, his eyes sliding back to the other young man's eyes. This could be viewed as silly too. Cross out his depression and next on the list you get his hatred for the Seskrits. Scratch that, his hatred for Esmek. Why did Esmek get the special place? Because of exactly what he was looking at right at that very moment. Seskrits on their own were bad enough, but when they dared to cross paths with one of his family members and then proceed to step even further into the fire, delving into what was so obviously a very personal, intimate relationship with them? Well. It just wasn't acceptable. Gabe didn't care if Lili returned the feelings. It just was not right. Shifting slightly in his spot where he stood, Gabe watched the two, his narrowed eyes never wavering. He needed to put an end to this already, it was getting out of hand. He most certainly did not like the way Lili so carelessly embraced Esmek. Not in the slightest.

Esmek couldn't help but smile a large, wide smile, lips only slightly parted. Sure this type of expression hurt just slightly, as it tugged on his stitched a little too much, he just couldn't help it when he heard Lilium's laugh, or saw her pearly smile. There have been more than a few times he had made the stitches bleed, but he was always careful enough to not let Lili see this. Esmek wrapped his arms around her thighs and spun in circles, chuckling as she giggled. Letting go for just a moment to sign, Esmek replied, Hello Lili, I have missed you as well <3, the heart included before holding her up once more. Looking up at her, Esmek shook his head. She'd surprised him up until the point she dropped from the tree. He had a good idea she was near him, but not for certain of her whereabouts. But her attempt made him happy nonetheless.
It was sad to think Lilium was the only one in both the Kriotag and Seskrit family that Esmek refused to use chucklevoodoos on. His own family? Suuure. Alenko? Moooooost likely. The only time he'd ever consider using a chucklevoodoo on Lili is when he can't sign to her, and must speak to her telepathically. Even then, Esmek had a hard time with that. Contrary to most belief, Esmek truly did care for his matesprit. The man cared for his family very much, yes, but they obviously didn't receive the same love from him that the Kriotag girl did. And it was rather sad, almost as if Lili were Juliet, and Esmek were Romeo. Their families despised each other for an unknown cause, a fight forgotten centuries ago, yet for some reason, the only one that seemed truly against it was Gabriel. No other Seskrit or Kriotag really bothered to test Esmek... Bottom line, he creeped out even his own family. It was only Gabe.
Speak of the devil, see the devil.
"Step away from my sister", Esmek heard, immediately frowning. Coaxing Lili off of his back, Esmek crossed his arms. This man had no right to tell either of them what to do. They were both adults who could make their own decisions. He was not Lilium's father, and he sure as hell had no authority over Esmek. The Oushaga had been perfectly content until that voice rang in his ears. He knew it anywhere, as unfortunate as it may seem. Look what the cat dragged in. On any other occasion where Lilum were not present, Esmek would respond with biting words. But today he was determined not to let his matepsprit down, and, well...
Everyone, even Esmek, knew that he would fail.

Lili could honestly say when she was with Esmek, she literally felt so giddy and happy that it felt like she would explode from it. The way he smiled, or rather, somewhat smiled, always made her smile more. However, it made her feel a little sad sometimes though, because it made her remember she would never see his full smile again. But, that slight feeling of sadness was wiped away as Esmek grabbed her thighs and spun her around like a small child. She laughed, feeling absolutely euphoric. He had stopped for a moment to sign to her, and Lil grinned widely, mirroring his heart symbol and signing, "I love you!" tp him, his grin not once faltering. Once again, the two were spinning, and the world around them spun as well. Nothing could ruin this time for her, well, almost nothing anyways. Only one person could get in the way of the two lovebirds, and that was her older brother Gabe. She loved her brother dearly, and she always felt guilty when she disobeyed him, or made him worry. He was just trying to protect her, and she understood his actions. That still didn't mean it was frustrating. She wished that he could accept what she had with Esmek. Perhaps he never would, nor would the rest of her family, or even Esmek's. The two families would never truly get along, and that thought was saddening. The Kriotags were full of nice brothers and sisters, just as she was sure the Seskrits had good brothers and sisters. But, she supposed life long feuds stayed true.
Lil shook herself from her thoughts, and tapped Esmek's shoulder. She looked down at him and signed, "How have you been Essy?" The female asked, tilting her head a little. She loved the way they could communicate. It was secretive, and to her it seemed more powerful than words. Though force of habit made her speak actual words from time to time, especially in the presence of her family.
And speaking of family...
Lili hadn't even noticed Gabe's arrival, not even his scent had caught up to her yet. It was only when Esmek's body had tensed up, and the fact he was reluctantly coaxing her off his back, did she see that her brother had arrived. He seemed pawsitively furious, just as he always was when he caught her and Es together. Lil slide from her matesprit's back, her face now looking like that of a crestfallen child. She was frowning, and she clasped her hands together in a nervous manner, hiding her mouth with her joined hands. Gabe must have spoken, for Esmek was replying back, gesturing to him with various signs.
"G-Gabe? Purrlease don't be mad..." Lil said out loud, unconsciously signing her words as she spoke them. They were in for it now...she just hoped that things wouldn't be too bad...but, that was too much to hope for she feared.

A grimace had seemed to have permanently taken up residence on Gabe's face as he looked at his sister. He knew she had feelings for Esmek, feelings that obviously influenced her in more ways than one, but that didn't stop him from feeling the way he did about their relationship. It had just been so engrained in his mind, the idea of objecting anything that had to do with the Seskrits, that he couldn't get past that and see even the slightest hint of something good coming from their partnership. He supposed that that was what fueled his opposition the most. The Seskrits themselves weren't necessarily that bad. In fact, he found barely anything to hold against them when he really looked into it. They didn't slaughter his family, they weren't total pains... They were really just victims of a feud that barely anybody even remembered anymore. Gabriel wasn't one to back down, though. If something had been a part of him for his entire life, he was going to continue going with it. Though he would never admit such a thing, it was frightening to him to think that if he lost this, he would really have nothing left to go on. He would still be him, with his memories and experiences and quirks that were just unavoidable, but he wouldn't have a drive anymore. In this new day and age, he would be lost trying to find a new purpose in life. So he stuck with what he had. An opposition toward the Seskrits and the drive to do whatever he possibly could to keep his siblings safe and well.
It wasn't like Gabe didn't approve of the actual relationship part of it. If he said he didn't agree with loving somebody so intimately, he would be a hypocrite. He had his own relationships, both past and present, ones that could be labeled as just friends and others as more than just friends. The ones from his past were history, things he tried his best to never think back on. He concealed them so well, that he doubted any of his family knew about even one of them. If they did know of any, it was probably the only one that he had truly fallen in, that he had dared to utter the "l" word to his companion in. It was also the first relationship he had ever been in, and one of his most painful memories. The one he "loved" had been a human, and he had met them while servicing in the Civil War. They grew sick, and well, the rest is obvious. Sure, after that, Gabriel has had his fair share of little flings and hook-ups, but never anything serious. Mostly so because he's always denied them from ever getting past the stage of "something a little bit more than just friends but not really far enough to call him an actual boyfriend." If there was anything that really smacked people in the face the first time they met him, it would be his lack of trust, and his resistance at getting too close. But somebody, somebody, just had to come along and break past that. That trickster of a man Nathaniel.
So lost in his thoughts, Gabe almost didn't catch what Esmek was signing to him. He nearly forgot he was even here. That was how potent his mind could be. Gabriel felt his brow furrow as his gaze slid from Esmek's hands to Esmek's face. He could see that the Seskrit was already attempting to hold himself back. The dark-haired boy smirked in the slightest way, dark amusement seeping from his expression as he eyed Esmek. He knew that whatever was going to happen today, it wasn't going to end pretty. Their run-ins never did. Though having Lili here threw a bit of a curveball. He was going to have to play slyly, so as not to upset her too much. That would make neither he or Esmek happy, having a distressed Lilium in their midst. "Save it, Seskrit," he said, his lips moving quickly as he kept his arms crossed and moved his gaze over to look at his sister. Her ability to lip read was growing and getting better each and every day, but he knew that she still had difficulty catching things that were said too quickly or mispronounced. That was a dirty trick of him to use, he knew it was, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. He felt his face fall back into its usual straight-lipped expression as he listened to his sister speak. His eyes stayed trained on her face, his peripheral vision catching her added sign language. He let out a low sigh and shook his head, shooting a quick glance to Esmek as he replied.
"You know better, Lilium," he spoke, using her full name and resorting to using sign language as well so he could be sure she understood the message. He didn't want her catching only little bits and pieces that would only lead to confusion and probably more hurt feelings than he had ever intended. "I thought we've gone over this already? That you are not to be spending time with him?" Gabriel made sure to add on a not-so-nice name at the end in place of "him" just for Esmek to catch, keeping his lip movements slight as his eyes returned to his sister. He knew she knew this was wrong, and yet here she was, rebelling against what was right. Or, at least, what he viewed as right... He drew in a deep breath to keep himself calm as he stood there, rolling his shoulders slightly as he felt the familiar sensation of being outnumbered tingle through his body. But even with the two of them against him, Gabe would hold his ground. He was stubborn, and in the end, that was probably exactly what would be his demise, whenever the end decided to make its appearance. If only he knew there was more than just death to put the name of the end to.
This is probably so confusing, I just don't even know bdkdysog
