The night's clouds weighed heavily on the city, casting a dark and eerie gloom over the expanse of the buildings and streets as midnight drew near. It was a Friday night, so of course, the city wasn't even close to being devoid of life. No matter the weather, there was always going to be a large, swarming crowd controlling the streets and bars on a late Friday night. At least the majority of the alleyways were clear of people. For the time being, that was. It was hard to make it out clearly through the darkness, but if somebody stopped and peered just long enough into one alley in particular, they would be able to make out what looked to be two figures on the ground. One slumped over with their head on the ground and their knees bent so they would have been kneeling if not for the limpness of their body, and the other completely flat on their back. Just a quick glimpse of the shadows could be perceived in an uncountable number of different ways, but it couldn't be guaranteed that even a single one of the ways would be correct. Especially not for this odd situation. So, really, to figure out what was truly going on, one would have to toughen up and brave the impending aura of doom that the alleyway seemed to emit with a - sad to say it - strong stomach.
Fortunately, nobody passing by seemed to take notice - or if they did, they honestly didn't care - of the two bodies in the center of the dim pathway. A few minutes passed by, nothing of significance occurring until one of the figures shuffled a little in their position on the ground. The young woman winced as she felt the overbearing stiffness in her neck and shoulders, her knees, her arms, elbows, and back... Her whole body felt as if it had been hit by a bus. A little groan, one so small and insignificant that it was practically inaudible, was expelled from her throat as she shifted her body. A frightened and worried crease formed between her eyebrows as she experienced a sudden wave of déjà vu wash through her aching body, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand straight as the feeling tingled from her toes to her hairline. Her eyes picked up on the emotions as she saw the damp, dirty, alleyway path beneath her cheek. She knew why she felt so horrible now, why she was in a place she didn't even recognize. This had happened to her before. Oh yes. It was something she would never forget, something that had happened more than just once by now... Corinna didn't even want to look over to what she knew was waiting for her. She didn't understand why she always woke up next to the bodies of the dead, why they always had to be mutilated and soaked in blood so that they forever singed and scarred themselves into the walls of her memory. Why couldn't she wake up in a field of flowers for a change, or her bed so that she could just blame it all on being a nightmare? A blank, endless, horrifying nightmare. Chills racked her body as she drew in a shaky breath, accompanied by an incredibly quiet sound next to her. Ice ran through Corinna's veins and stabbed at her heart as she jolted upward, the movement breaking her upper body free of its confines against the cold ground. More aches and pains flooded through her body, but she ignored them as she looked over to the still breathing person beside her. Granted, their breathing was labored and incredibly shallow, but it still counted as something. The redhead lunged toward the victim, her movements harsh and jerky, most likely killing the person of a heart attack right then and there rather than their injuries. Her joints could have been glued together for all one knew, they were so incredibly stiff.
"O-oh God, you're still alive!" she stuttered out while hovering her trembling hands over the young woman's bloodied body. Corinna was too distracted by the life that remained in the victim to notice that the same crimson that coated the woman was all over her pale hands. Perhaps if she had taken just a second to notice that significant little detail, the way she would have reacted to the fear and hatred in the woman's eyes would have been different, more understanding. But no, the emotions that spat at her from behind the bloodshot orbs were enough to make her recoil back in surprise, her brows coming together in shock and confusion. She was just a stranger, she hadn't done anything wrong. It's not like she could operate like she was awake when she blacked out! ... Right? Right, right, someone must have just brought the two of them here, that was how she ended up in this place. It couldn't have been her doing for any of this. It couldn't have... Corinna's thoughts were interrupted as the victim suddenly started coughing, violent spasms making her body shake and quiver as one of her hands limply went to her chest. The redhead's eyes widened in horror as she watched stunned for a moment, her mind going into overdrive as she watched the woman before her begin to choke on her own blood. A second more passed, and she finally sprung into action.
"No! Wait, please, stop! Stop!" she cried out, moving her hands so that they were where the dying woman's one laid on her chest. Quickly, yet as gingerly as she could, Corinna moved the limb, gasping as soon as her eyes landed on the wound. It was disgusting, horrifying, and ultimately depressing. All because she knew that she wouldn't be able to save this woman, not after she saw all the damage that just this one injury created. Sure, the victim's body was covered in lacerations and lesions, but this one was the one that would bring her to her ultimate end. It wasn't in Corinna's ability to just stand by and watch someone die, though. She had to do something. One of her hands moved to hold up the woman's head to help keep her airway clear as the other slid down and pressed onto the sickeningly wet gash that dug deep into the woman's chest. As she did this, she could hear the woman's struggled breathing begin to slow, and she watched as her hand began to drown in a puddle of red. "Please, please don't die," she sobbed, managing only a wavering whisper as she turned to watch the woman's fading expression. Slowly, her eyelids lowered and her body went limp in Corinna's hold, leaving the redhead alone and trembling in a pool of blood.
Corinna lost it and tore herself away from the dead woman, curling up against the opposite wall near some crates as she looked at the body. She tore her hands through her dark ruby hair as she drew in uneven breaths. Waking up to someone in the process of dying was much, much worse than waking up to one who was already put out of their misery. "Oh God, oh God... No, please no," she whispered to herself in quivering breaths, putting her face in her blood-covered hands as she rocked back and forth as slightly as she could. What was going to happen now? What was she going to do? Should she go get help, or run and let it be blamed on someone else? Would that even be a possibility now? After all, she had been right next to the woman, had touched her, and had made her presence here more than noticeable. She was in trouble. Corinna didn't know what to do at the moment though, her mind too shocked and caught up in the woman's death to be able to function enough so that she could do something, anything. She was just as dead to the world as the other female was right now. And she would be until something or someone would come along and snap her out of it.
(I'm sorry this is so long, ramble-y, pointless, nasty, and depressing XD)

Kellin brushed his coal black hair out of his eyes. He was wearing casual clothes today. A tanktop with some jeans and sneakers was all he needed. The man was alone, but he was used to solitude. He'd known it for so long it was almost as if love and happiness weren't apart of the equation. Of course, Kellin portrayed a happy aura, and he was a legit happy man. But everyone had that one thing that brought them down, and Kellin's was his solitude. The Agency didn't even want him to enter. They thought he would be some deranged psychopath because Kellin was one of two guys on body cleanup duty. And in some cases he was when he got on a killing spree. But who wasn't? Smiling, Kellin pictured his first encounter with Arganok, the Oushaga. It was then Kellin had had the Veil side of him take over and brutally murder two men who had attempted to kill a younger, smaller man. At least he'd killed people who needed to be killed.
The Siren needed an escape. All he ever did was work or sleep. He never had time for himself since he occasionally sang for charity cases too. Walking aimlessly downtown, Kellin witnessed a strange feeling. He knew this feeling. It was almost as if his body could sense a dying or dead human. The Veil in his Sleeping Veil Siren twisted and churned, wanting so bad to find the bystander who was mortally wounded. The death screams were the most satisfying to the males hunger, though really any scream of terror did the trick. Inhaling deeply, Kellin calmed himself. It was his job to collect dead body's for the PIDA. So he would simply look for any evidence a supernatural had caused the deaths and he was as good as clean. No one would notice it was he who had finished off the human, right? Right. Slinking around the corner, the male turned just in time to see a redhead crawl away from the now-dead woman Kellin had sensed. She curled up beside a few crates and began rocking back and forth slowly. Damn gingers, always f*cking sh*t up.
Kellin looked at the woman closer. That was when he caught a glimpse of her face. This girl had to be the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. The young man stared at her in awe. Almost completely oblivious to the bloodied bodies, Kellin approached her carefully. Slowly crouching down, the Sleeping Siren rested his hand on her shoulder. Peering at her, he checked to make sure she was alright. Calmly standing back up, Kellin shook his head at the bodies. Whatever had killed them had killed them in the least kind manner possible, and that was saying something coming from a man who stabbed people to death with their own shadows. He wanted to kill the person who had created such a mess, it was guaranteed they were supernatural. He would personally take this mission whether the PIDA liked it or not. This was hi new assignment starting now.
Turning to the girl, Kellin smiled softly to ensure her she was no longer in danger. "You don't need to look so scared anymore. Don't you worry about a thing. You're safe with me," Kellin cooed. He was a sucker for a pretty face, but it was also his job to make sure the innocent were safe, supernatural or not. This girl was definitely supernatural- he could tell by the way his body almost rejected her as opposed to longing for her terrified screams. Kellin couldn't quite put his finger on it, nor did he really think about it, but this girl gave him a feeling he'd never experienced, and it was a huge feeling for someone he had literally just met. He didn't even know her name, but he knew he wanted to make her feel safe and get her to where she needed to be. Kellin never believed in love, let alone love at first sight, so of course he excluded that first to be the feeling he felt. Maybe it was just her mortification that made him want to help her and care for her so bad. "I'm Kellin. I'll be the guy you explain this crime to, and the one you can trust with anything form this point on." Determined to solve this crime? Yes. Moreso determined to get this beauty to talk to him, though he didn't expect much. She was only just coming to from a bloody massacre witness.

The sound of footsteps echoing against the walls of the alleyway registered somewhere in Corinna's mind, slowing her rocking enough to where she eventually stilled and sat slump against the damp brick wall behind her back. Her hands still covered her face, her eyes squeezed shut behind her long and delicate fingers. She knew that someone was getting closer to her, she could hear them perfectly well now. It wasn't in her interest to look at them and get another glare filled with fear and hatred, though, so she stayed still in her spot, unmoving and horrified at what had just happened. Little tremors rippled down her body as she listened to the person coming towards her. She didn't want to face them, she didn't want to have to deal with questions or screams or accusations... She just wanted to go home and curl up in a corner. Of course, though, something as nice as that wouldn't be happening tonight. Better yet, probably not ever. Knowing her luck, she was going to be stuck in sh*tty situations for the rest of her life.
As soon as she felt the person's hand rest lightly on her shoulder she couldn't help but flinch as if she had just been struck at, her whole body reflexively turning away from whoever had touched her. The redhead peeked through her fingers before lowering both her hands a little, her grayish-green eyes wide and frightened as they landed on the young man in front of her. He didn't seem hostile or upset towards her in particular, but rather... Concerned. She watched intently as he skimmed his eyes over her, feeling increasingly self-conscious about herself and really wanting to go find that corner that she was thinking about earlier. Her slender fingers lightly rested against her throat as she blinked at the man. He was enchantingly beautiful, and something about his eyes drew her in like a moth to flame. The trembling of her body ceased and everything seemed to slow down, her mind at the most peace it had experienced since the very beginning of these troubling black-outs. Immediately after he was gone though, the peace disappeared. The blood-covered woman drew in a deep breath as soon as the stranger stood back up, her eyebrows coming together as she looked down at her hands. The crimson on them and the lack of the oddly calming man beside her brought her fear and guilt back ten-fold, her body tensing and tightening as a torn expression crossed her ashen face.
What had she done? What had she woken up to? Usually, when she woke up after blacking out like that, her body would be clean for the most part. But this time, it was covered, just covered, in blood. And not just the blood from the woman she had just tried to save. No, there was other blood on her hands and body too. It was as clear as day now that she was taking the time to look at it. She didn't have any wounds for herself - other than her body being stiff and sore, she was fine -, so that meant that none of the blood was hers. This was entirely consisting of the blood of murder victims. If even possible, Corinna's face paled even further, her stormy green eyes wide and horror-stricken. Her mouth framed a tiny "o" as she stared down at her hands. Were there others that she had tried to help too...? Or... Hurt? Disbelief and terror masked her thoughts as she turned to look up to the stranger, her fear apparent on her face. His back was turned to her and he seemed to examining something. Corinna shifted her gaze to follow where his would've been directed, her body locking up as she saw more than just one dead body on the ground. This was... Was... An absolute nightmare.
The redhead put her head in her hands again, tears threatening to overtake her dirty cheeks. Just as she was about to stop trying to hold them back and let them loose, the young man spoke, catching her attention and making her head snap up. Corinna looked at the stranger, disbelief mingling with grief in her eyes as a few tears slipped their way out. How could he say that she didn't need to look scared, or that she was safe after seeing all of this? He had eyes, didn't he see the death and destruction that diseased this alleyway? Corinna's lower lip trembled, more tears trailing after the previous ones. She wanted to respond, to say something, but her voice wouldn't work. She was stuck there, silent, sitting against the wall, crying like a baby, and probably looking like an extremely pathetic case. The redhead looked down like a guilty child as she felt the man's eyes watching her. For some reason, she couldn't help but feel as if she had a part to play in this whole murder scene, and not a quite-so-innocent one either. Corinna lifted her wet eyes back up to the young man as he introduced himself. The sound of his voice was soothing, and it calmed the redhead down to some extent. It wasn't enough to stop the tears from streaming down her cheeks though, and she could barely bring herself to reply as she put her face in her hands again.
"Co-Corinna... My name's Corinna," she half-sobbed, half-whispered back, her voice breaking at the end. Was this guy really going to stay by her side?

Kellin felt something in his stomach flip when this beauty started crying.
His full attention snapped to Corinna, she said she was, a genuinely caring look in his pale eyes. Kneeling down, Kellin watched her movements carefully. He wasn't at all afraid of her, rather curious and concerned. As soft as hummingbird's hum, the young man placed his hand on her left arm. It was almost as if he sensed her doubts. Shaking his head, he spoke. "No no no, sh, sh. It's alright, Corinna. I'll take care of things, I promise. I'm not going to question you right now," Kellin blinked slowly. What could he do to make her feel safe? More importantly, what could he do to help Corinna? "Rin. Can I call you that?" He paused in wait for a response. Continuing, Kellin placed his other hand on her right arm. "I'm going to take you to your home, okay? We're going to clean you off, put on warm clothes, and get you something to calm you down. Hot cocoa? Pancakes? Name it." The black haired boy was naturally sweet and kind already, and when added to someone who needed his help, Kellin was almost like a candy machine that never ran out of sweets.
Kellin sang a soft tune, not loud enough to make Rin sleep, but not too quiet he couldn't sooth her or raise the shadows. "They say that love is forever / Your forever is all that I need / Please stay forever with me / Can't promise that things won't be broken / But I swear that I will never leave / Please stay forever with me," he chirped, his choice of music completely unrelated to the situation. He couldn't help it, that song was a wonderful one sung by his favorite band. The shadows slowly rose and engulfed the bodies, melding them into the shadows. He would unmask them for the PIDA to grab for investigation later when they asked him too. Until then, the sidewalk was devoid of any death and blood- Kellin had taken care of it as promised. It was as if the massacre had never happened. Turning back to Rin, he wished he could do the same with her. The only thing the young man could do at this point was sooth her with his voice.
Reaching his hand out, Kellin ceased his melody. Aiming to help the girl up, Kellin wouldn't be too surprised if she rejected his offer or even attacked him. Sometimes those who witness a murder do crazy things. Although Kellin had a distinct feeling this girl was not all that innocent- she'd not a single scrape on her yet was caked in blood- he couldn't help but feel she was innocent to some extent. Not taking his eyes off of Rin, Kellin noticed how dark it was getting. Things would get so much worse if they stayed out for too much longer. The night dwellers would come out- the ones who partied every day of the week, those working the graveyard shift, and even other, more hungry and ruthless supernaturals- would not be too fond of the two remaining on that turf. The lean man had had far too many encounters with night dwellers. Sure he loved to party himself, but he stayed inside the buildings. Everyone seemed to be able to sense he was supernatural. Maybe it as the Siren- his beauty could blind a man since it was part of his race's traits. Or maybe it was the Veil- terrifying, ruthless, and downright scary. Whatever it was gave people the creeps and Kellin didn't like it.
Other supernaturals saw him as easy bait too. They assumed since he had no other form that he was immediately weak. What they couldn't sense about him, though, was that his looks and voice could literally kill. One glance at his eyes while he is singing and the victim was as good as gone if Kellin so chose. But the Sleeping Siren in his genes naturally despised killing. It was the Veil others had to worry about. "Come on. Let's go." Kellin was slightly worried his kindness would scare the girl, but he couldn't help it. It was in his best interest to make her feel safe. It made for easier interrogation later. But that wasn't the only reason he wanted to comfort this female. She seemed so helpless and lost... It didn't seem right to just interrogate her on the spot while she was still half traumatized, now did it? Not to Kellin. Not one bit.

It was odd how the young man hadn't totally freaked out about the scene yet. Corinna was just waiting for it, waiting for a sudden intake of air, or a muffled scream as he covered his mouth with his hand... Wasn't that what the normal passerby would do, anyways? Something about this man, Kellin, was different though. The redhead could feel it in her bones that there was something off about the whole act he seemed to portray. Even his looks gave something away about him. People weren't just so miraculously gorgeous like he was. At least, not ordinary people. Corinna had run across supernaturals before, she knew that they existed. She could tell that he was one of them, and because of that, she didn't know whether she could really trust him or not. The past supernaturals that she had run into hadn't been quite so kind as he was coming off as, or else they were one minute and then they turned out to be ravenous monsters the next. There was something about this stranger that pushed her away from coming to that conclusion, though. Corinna couldn't put her finger on it, but she knew deep down, that his words from before were genuine, and that she really didn't have to worry, and that, somehow, she truly was safe with him. Sure, it sounded absurd, but there was a deep conviction within her heart that just wouldn't let it go.
It wasn't enough to stop her from flinching again as he softly placed his fingers back onto her skin. Corinna let her hands fall slack into her lap as she looked straight into Kellin's eyes, her orbs holding a storm of sadness and guilt behind them. A choked breath found its way into her lungs as she listened to him, her face showing more and more disbelief as each word came out of his mouth. He was going to take care of things? This wasn't even his mess to clean up, though! Or, she would've believed otherwise, if she knew what his job was. A hint of confusion flashed over her expression after he mentioned questioning. She hadn't even thought of that until now. So... Did that mean he was a part of government services, then? Was he actually a cop or something, and just off his shift right now? The newly-returned pink drained again from Corinna's cheeks. Was he going to arrest her the first chance he got? A faint, nearly nonexistent nod moved her head in response to his question about her name. Her mind was going a million miles a minute right now. Dead bodies here, hot-yet-questionable strangers there. It would be silly to think that she would be able to focus long enough right now to form even one coherent word to answer with.
As Kellin set his other hand on her opposite arm Corinna shied away again, although it resulted only in the redhead pushing herself more into his hold on her left side. Without even realizing it at the time, she had gotten herself trapped. Good going. The girl's eyebrows came together in confusion as she looked back up to Kellin. She didn't understand why he was being so nice to her. She would've expected harsh treatment and a torrent of questions, not sweetness and caring. Again, she only nodded in answer, finding that she was coming to enjoy his voice the more she heard it. The amazing thing about all this was the fact that somewhere in between all this talking and holding, Kellin had managed to calm the redhead down enough so that she was no longer crying her eyes out. Now, she was simply just sitting there, listening to what he had to say and keeping her eyes on his face so she wouldn't have a mental breakdown in the next five minutes. What he did next was even more soothing for the emotionally-shot woman. His voice, paired with the soft melody that he sang out, brought an inner peace to her that she simply couldn't refuse. Corinna slowly closed her eyes, craving more of the contentedness and ease that she found in his song. It made her miss what he was doing to the bodies in the alleyway, but that was alright - she would much rather listen to him any day over watching something disappear like a magic trick.
Too soon, Kellin stopped singing, and Corinna opened her eyes back up to see him waiting there with his hand outstretched. The redhead stared at his open hand for a second before deciding to take it, the sudden act of courage surprising even her as she took it, her small hand fitting perfectly into his. A small blush fluttered up to her cheeks, making her look down to hide her face from him as she stood up. She would be the one to blush at a time like now. Figured. The redhead's legs shook a little as she gained her footing, showing just how affected she really was by all this. Looked like the rest of her body didn't get the memo to calm down. An embarrassed and nervous little smile showed on her lips as she ran her free hand down through her long hair. "Sorry..." she mumbled, looking down to the ground as her cheeks burned. As she did so she noticed that the bodies were no longer visible. What had... Corinna looked back up to Kellin quickly, questions in her green eyes as she met his. Just as she was about to ask what she missed, though, he spoke, and she nodded in agreement, wanting nothing more than to just get away from here now that she thought about it. "Yes, please," she said softly in reply, looking down to her free hand then rubbing it on her jeans to try to get the blood off it as she tried to think of brighter things to come.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true] [atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/ii566/fogbeam/KellinMid.png] Kellin's eyebrows creased. He didn't have the vaguest clue as to where this woman lived. If he asked her that would seem weird, or she may not remember from the trauma. If he just took her to his place... That too would be weird. The young man was in quite the conniption. Although he was thinking deeply, Corinna still had the boy's full attention. She flinched whenever he made a move. Kellin thought for a moment. He'd seen that face before. Not necessarily Corinna's face, but the face she made. It burned with fright. She flinched at every move he made. On the verge of tears. Just overall fearful for her life. But Kellin could see something more. Something he had also seen before. Beneath the blood, beneath the horror, even beneath the skin, there was a woman. Not a criminal- a sweet, loving, mislead woman. Kellin had a knack for reading eyes. He could read anyone like a book, for the most part. But Rin was confusing him. He didn't understand how she wound up like this. It was then the handsome young man realized where he'd seen her expression of true terror before.
Copenhagen. She'd worn the same look; wide eyes, red and shot though no tears flowed, flinching at every move, huddling against the nearest wall. Rin even had the same grey eyes. After a moment Kellin realized he was staring at the girl, lost in his the past. Standing up, Kellin closed his eyes and took a breath. He was only more determined to help this female out.
Surprised at her touch, the black haired man was shocked she accepted his hand. Looking down at his own hand as she placed it in his palm, Kellin couldn't help but notice how small it was. He felt as if he squeezed even the slightest bit too hard he would break it in two. Carefully wrapping his fingers around the back of her petite hand, Kellin gently lifted Corinna to her feet. When she wobbled Kellin instinctively held tighter and held his free arm out in case she fell. After Rin regained her balance, Kellin found himself unwilling to release her hand. It fit perfectly in his own, and the feeling Kellin had forgotten about from earlier returned. The man easily missed Corinna's blushing to hide his own. What the hell had gotten in to him?
Concluding he would take her to his place, Kellin hoped to God she wouldn't get freaked out. Realizing he had held her hand maybe a smidge too long, Kelloin quickly released her tiny palm and placed his hands in his pockets. "This way... He jerked his head in the direction of his apartment. In an attempt to lighten the mood, Kellin began babbling. "I hope this doesn't sound weird, but, uh, you have my moms eyes." Pausing, the boy realized how strange that must have sounded. "I mean, you don't actually HAVE her eyes, but... They look like her eyes. Well they look like YOUR eyes, but..." Kellin mentally facepalmed. He was never this awkward around a girl. Usually he was crisp and smooth with the ladies. What the hell was happening?
"I guess what I'm trying to say is, you're very attractive, and so are your eyes." disregarding the fact she was covered in blood of innocent bystanders, of course. But it was no lie. Rin did have a special glow about her that made Kellin call head over heels. Her features just seemed overall flawless. Grey- no, silver and foggy- eyes that pierced his heart and mind. Red hair that burned as she did, and soft skin to represent her affection. Kellin was scaring himself immensely.
Aimlessly walking, Kelllin snapped out of his awkward state. Turning, his eyes widened when he saw Rin was a few feet behind him, standing in the road. Probably because Kellin was walking right toward a Walk-In clinic rather than following the sidewalk as a result of being lost to his thoughts. Psh, he was not trying to say she was crazy. That was not his intentions. Coming to once more, the man noticed a truck coming at that very moment. The road was a narrow one, and no matter where the truck turned it would either hit Rin or go offroad into the buildings. But the dark of the night prevented the friver from noticing the girl until a smidge too late.
Lunging, Kellin threw himself in front of the truck and held onto Rin. Rather than pushing the envelope by standing there- his father had once taught Kellin he was invincible, his only weakness being that of magic- Kellin thought quicker. He wrapped the shawdows around both himself and Rin. It took all his willpower to meld them both to the shadows dancing on the black pavement, but it was done. The truck passed harmlessly by, the honking of its horn growing dimmer with each passing second.
Slowly raising himself and Rin, Kellin realized he'd learned an ability he didn't know was possible. Rather than being excited, the dark haired Siren pulled Corinna to the sidewalk and looked her in the eyes. "Are you alright?"

It wasn't in the redhead's best interest to form any close relationships right now, or any type of relationship, really. She knew that with these strange, recurring blackouts, she wasn't only posing a threat to herself, but to those around her as well. Obviously, given the bodies that she woke up to after every single time she passed out. These corpses - these people - that she woke up to were strangers to her, though. She didn't know a single one of them, never had, and she doubted she ever would. But, if she had known one of them, if she would come to know them... It was a horrifying thought. Corinna had kept herself from getting too close to anyone in this town exactly for that reason. Every possible opportunity in creating something more than just an acquaintanceship was pushed away with the strongest of force she contained within her thin and delicate body. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Not mentally. Not physically. The only person she was truly willing to hurt, you could say, was herself. She would never, ever wish to inflict harm on another human being, or another living, breathing creature for that matter. Corinna was a sweet and tender soul. This was why her blackouts frightened her so. They made her feel like an animal, or better yet, like a deranged, murderous psycho. The best part - she didn't even understand why. She wasn't the one doing the killing... So why, in the end, did she feel like she ultimately was?
A tightened grip and worried eyes snapped the girl out of her thoughts. Corinna's gaze flashed up to reassure Kellin that she was alright as she offered him a small, chagrined smile. She noticed that he wasn't looking her way though, and as he released her hand she had to keep herself from allowing any feelings of disappointment leak into her system. It was harder than she thought it was going to be, keeping those feelings away. It scared her, honestly. Here she was, this girl trying to keep her feelings at bay when it came to others, and now, all of a sudden, this stranger had come up and effortlessly got them bestowed upon him. He made it seem as if they were being saved just for him, and it made no sense whatsoever. Corinna had always thought that "love at first sight" or "true love" was such a stupid concept. But, now that she thought about it, she was beginning to doubt herself... Again, scariness. This wasn't the way she usually thought, where she went on second-guessing herself and believing that she kept herself locked away her whole life only to be unlocked by that one special someone, that special someone that would change everything. It was ridiculous! Corinna frowned to herself as her thoughts consumed her once more. If you couldn't tell, this happened a lot with her.
The redheaded girl looked up to Kellin as he began to talk about something. Her feet moved accordingly as the two of them began to head away from the crime scene. Where were they going, again? Corinna tried to remember, but she honestly couldn't recall hearing anything about having a destination set in stone. Back to the odd feelings again, though, and that pesky internal belief that she could trust this handsome man. For some odd, unknown reason, she didn't question where she was taking him. That was idiocy working at its best. The girl blinked and directed her gaze back toward Kellin as he began to speak again, saying something about her eyes and his mom. Corinna lifted her eyebrows a little as she watched the man begin to ramble. An amused smile grew on her lips as she kept her eyes on him, entertainment dancing in their grayish-green depths. To be honest, what he first said had made complete sense to her. She followed exactly what he was saying. But if he wanted to try to cover for himself over a mistake he didn't even make, she wasn't going to stop him. Not when he was this far into the game. The redhead couldn't hold back the amused giggle that came from her lips as Kellin kept going on. Whether this was intentional or not, he was making her smile and laugh right now, and that was something big, considering what she had just been through.
The smile on her lips faded a little though as Kellin complimented her. Corinna had never been good with taking compliments, not when she was young, and definitely not now. The slender girl looked down with a new blush burning away on her cheeks, her eyes seeking out something to lock onto so that they wouldn't drift back up to Kellin and give away her blush at his words. "Thank you," she said as they continued walking, her voice soft and flustered. She didn't really know what else to say. If it wasn't obvious before, then it must have been blinking in bright, flashing lights by now. The girl evidently wasn't exactly the best social butterfly out there. She had her moments when she was loud and talkative, but a lot of the time... Well, a lot of the time she was just shy and quiet. Which explained why she wasn't really saying much in the first place. Add the given situation, and it made sense that she wasn't running her mouth a million words a minute. Maybe later, if Kellin still stuck around, then he would see the more open side of her, the more inviting side. Not the scary, depressed, blood-covered girl that was walking by his side at the current moment. No, no... This wasn't what she wanted any of her first impressions to be like.
Again, Corinna's thoughts overtook her vulnerable mind. She became so engrossed in them, so lost in everything her mind could come up with, that she began to slow in her steps. The redhead was no longer side-by-side with Kellin. As a matter of fact, she wasn't even a couple inches behind. She was a good few feet behind, and the distance was still growing. As Kellin kept moving forward, Corinna had frozen still, stopped dead-center in the middle of the street. A frown was on her lips again as she stood there. Her mind was whirling, going on about things that made her think of what had just happened, about her loneliness that she pushed on herself, about anything and everything. It was times like these when she was more prone to blacking out, although she didn't know that for herself. If she did have such knowledge, then she would constantly be pushing herself to focus on every single thing possible. Luckily - kinda - a truck was heading down the road, going straight for her. There wasn't really room for the vehicle to deviate - either way, she was going to get hit. The redhead lifted her eyes just in time to take in her surroundings before the truck would be on top of her. The stormy green orbs noticed that up ahead a ways there was a clinic, and that Kellin was staring at her from the sidewalk with a deer-in-the-headlights look, and that, as she turned her head, there was a truck that was coming ever closer to her.
Stricken with it, shock flooded the girl's system, locking her joints and making her ultimately immobile. All she could do was look towards the truck with her face completely devoid of any color. Even if she had been able to move, she probably wouldn't have been able to fast enough. The vehicle was just that close already. Corinna squeezed her eyes shut, preparing for everything to disappear, until in one split-second she felt the impact. It wasn't what she was expecting it to be. Far from it, actually. This was... Not cold and metallic. Whatever had struck her was warm, hard, and breathing. Just as she was about to open her eyes the girl suddenly felt something strange overcome her body. It was so odd, so otherworldly, there was no way to describe it. The loud blaring of the truck's horn faded away, and Corinna felt her body begin to have normal sensations again. Needless to say, the girl was stunned from all that had just happened. She didn't even realize that tears were running down her face until Kellin's voice brought her back to earth. The redhead jolted out of whatever hold the fear had gotten on her and stared into Kellin's dark blue eyes, her expression so lost and distraught, it would've made even a kitten stop. "I-I-" The girl couldn't take it anymore. Her body had had way too much stress in the past few hours to be able to function even semi-normally now, and it was proving its case by doing what it did best. Shutting down and leaving her in the dark.
