At her declaration that she was a mess, he blinked and looked down at himself. He was covered in dust from the breaking wood and the dusty floor, there was a hole in his shirt and he had bloodstains on his jeans, and she thought that she was a mess? While she was off changing, he tried half-heartedly to brush the debris off of his black shirt, but only seemed to succeed in leaving dusty hand prints on the fabric. He sighed heavily, shaking his head. Hopefully, she didn't mind his appearance as much as she minded her own, because he hadn't brought a spare shirt along with him. When she walked back in, he couldn't help but smile a little.
"Except for the dust, we match," he said, gesturing to his black tank top and blue jeans. "Was that on purpose?"
He examined one of the stools and sat down carefully in it, not wanting to break it. All of the chairs in his apartment were welded metal, which held his weight a bit more easily than any wooden chair. Her apartment had a comfortable, lived-in feel while still not being too messy, and it was nice to see her in her own element. She looked more at ease here, and even more interesting, she wasn't the uncoordinated mess that she seemed to be elsewhere. But perhaps he had spoken too soon, as she spilled hot coffee all over her hand.
Getting up, he moved the coffee pot to the side and found a roll of paper towels to begin clearing it up. He had no problems with the hot coffee, but the cold water would have scalded him in the same way that the hot coffee had scalded her, so he kept away from it. Instead, he wiped the outside of the coffee cup and the counter, before pushing the sodden rags into a pile, which steamed vaguely from the coffee.
"I'm sorry," he apologized reflexively. "I can leave if I make you uncomfortable."
He held the coffee cup without thinking much about it, enjoying the feeling of heat against his palm. He took a sip of the still-steaming coffee, licked his lip and pinched a sugar cube into it, stirring absently with his finger. He was more concerned with whether she was okay, rather than how unusual his actions were.

Looking down at her outfit, Lilith looked up, a grin forming. "Oh my goodness! I didn't mean it!" Lilith laughed. After the coffe debacle she looked up at Drew as he asked if he should leave and she quickly shook her head. "No..please. It was just me being..well me." Lilith grabbed her coffee mug, looking up as Drew stirred the coffee with his finger. "Uhm...want a spoon? It is no problem.." Lilith smiled at him as she went to grab a spoon, which required her moving closer to Drew than she had thought she needed to, her body pressing against his side as she opened the drawer.
She paused, grabbing the spoon, realizing how close she was and straightened up, blushing deep pink. She felt a little frozen, looking up at Drew. Oh she was close. She blinked, her blush growing deeper as she finally stepped away. "I'm...I'm sorry. I..you...you're really warm." Lilith blush deepened as she moved towards the living room sitting down. She had pretty much pushed up against him, and then she said something stupid like you're warm.. Lilith felt kind of silly. She looked over at Drew.
"Drew..please sit down. Make yourself comfortable." Lilith gave him a shy smile, patting the couch cushion next to her. When Drew had finally sat down she smiled, standing up. She felt really restless, and nervous. Why was she nervous? She never gets nervous! Lilith went to the window and closed the blinds, turning back to Drew. "I know you get nervous, with people...and everything." She said this quietly, setting her mug down on a coaster on the coffee table, sitting back down next to him.
She decided to be brave. There was...something happening. Something in the air, or something. Lilith felt another blush coming on. What was she doing? Blushing like a school girl. When Lilith had sat down, she had sat down closer to Drew, touching their legs together. She wasn't uncomfortable at all. "Drew...I'm not uncomfortable around you. I mean...you are great. Like...super nice...I mean you rescued me...twice." Lilith let out a short laugh.
"And I really appreciate it." Lilith looked up and smiled. She felt her heart flutter a little. She had only met this man twice and here she was, being weird. He probably thought she was weird. And he was probably uncomfortable and she looked down. "I hope I am not making you uncomfortable, I mean you can leave anytime...if you want." Lilith looked back up at him, wondering what he was thinking.

Drew blushed, barely able to avoid slopping the coffee down the front of himself as she brushed against his side. His heart was racing in his chest, equal parts exhilaration that he couldn't explain and nervousness at being touched. In his experience, touching had never ended well, and yet part of him couldn't help but be disappointed when she moved away. He felt like a teenaged boy again, awkward and unable to understand his instincts. He could have shot himself when he realized what was going on. He was attracted to this woman, and he didn't have the first clue what that meant, or what to do next. It was pathetic, really. Here he was in his thirties, and he'd never had any kind of dating experience.
When she invited him to sit down, he took another small sip of his coffee and headed over. The couch depressed where he sat, groaning mildly as his weight taxed the springs. Following her lead, he put his mug on a coaster and looked back at her. The hair stood on the back of his neck at her proximity, with the alarm bells going off to tell him that he needed to create space, all while the other half of his brain wanted to close the distance. It was maddening, the conflict between the man and the warrior. Even more so because it wasn't Lilith's fault, but rather the fault of the assholes who had dropped him into more fights than meals for over a decade. The thought made him drop his eyes, knowing how ill-fitted he was to this situation.
"I'm not... nice," he said finally, his dark eyes unhappy as he looked back at her. "Quite the opposite. If you saw me for what I really am, you would never speak to me again, and I wouldn't blame you."
With obvious hesitation, he lifted his massive hand and touched her cheek with his callused fingertip, barely brushing it to move a strand of red hair out of her eyes. There was an element of fascination in his face, despite the nervousness of his eyes. Her skin was... so soft... She was so small and so far and away beyond anyone who he deserved to take an interest in him. But she was still here, and for some reason, she still trusted him. It was a humbling thought, and he didn't think she would understand what it meant to him, even if he had the words to express it to her.
He drew his hand away from her cheek as he saw the dark red-brown of dried blood under his nails, from where he had tried to stem the bleeding on his arm.

She felt another blush come on as Drew's hand reached up and touched her cheek. She leaned into the touch, blinking at what he said. "Drew...nonesense. You are nice, and I doubt I would never speak to you again. I mean.." She paused as his hand dropped away. She felt butterflies flutter in her stomach, and she chewed her bottom lip. What was this? She looked down, then looked back up. "Drew..." Lilith turned, facing him fully, pulling her leg up onto the couch.
Lilith had never really been tactful in her life. And this was one of those moments that were a perfect example. Lilith faced forward again. She was nervous! Why was she so nervous. Lilith looked down, picking a piece of lint of her sweats. She felt her breath come faster as she blushed again. She moved her hand, touching his hand. "I..I don't even know how to say this. Like..I mean.." Lilith stood up, and started pacing. She didn't know how to deal with this. Like it was different than any other feeling she had. And she had only known him a short while, but it was so...
"I'm sorry. I must seem like a crazy person...I just...I have only met you twice, and we really talked now today. And now I have butterflies in my stomach, and my heart is beating and have you seen the amount of blushing I have done all evening! I just...we just met and I feel like this and you touched my cheek and all I could feel was my heart pounding and you are so cute. Like I don't think you realize how you cute you are, handsome...just..." Lilith felt her cheeks glow once again as she stopped pacing in front of him.
She ran her hand through her hair nervously, sitting back down next to Drew. Lilith lifted her hand, resting it on his cheek. He was warm and she felt her heart skip a beat. She blinked, looking down, her hand moving down Drews arm. She didn't know what to do. She looked at his eyes. "Drew....for some reason I don't want you to leave tonight....because I dont know..." Lilith let out a breath. She took a sip of coffee. She liked it black and strong, which was funny because she usually liked things that were sweeter. She set her mug back down, looking at Drew. "Sorry..if I sounded a little crazy there..."

He leaned back in surprise as she stood and began pacing, his dark eyes watching her for a few moments before he looked away. It disgusted him that his wolf liked to watch because it reminded him of prey, and he shut down the train of thought before his eyes could reflect his predatory nature. The other half of his mind started listening again once it took precedence, and he blushed as he realized what she was saying. His eyes turned back to look at her as she stopped pacing, searching the pale blue eyes that were so different from his in every conceivable way. Her nerves were probably on account of her attraction, rather than the ingrained wariness that caused his own. How could someone so apparently innocent not see how damaged he was?
Only a concentrated effort kept him from flinching as she lifted her hand to his face, but suddenly all of his nervousness melted away at the feeling of her soft fingers on his cheek. He closed his eyes as he felt his heart slow back to a more normal speed. His eyes opened again as he felt her hand move down to his arm, and he looked at her as she took a sip of the coffee. His hands were quick but gentle as he took the mug from her and put it back on the coaster to get it out of the way.
His eyes were urgent, beginning to glow faintly blue around the edges as he searched her face for one long heartbeat. He leaned in slowly, to give her time to pull away if she wanted to, his fingertips tracing the edge of her jaw before he pressed his lips into her own. The bitterness of coffee on her lips was driven out of his mind as the chaos of conflict that usually defined his thoughts stilled, blissfully silent for the single moment in time when he could feel the softness of her jaw under his rough fingertips and gentle lips.
He leaned away after a moment, breathless and looking almost confused. He held her eyes for another heartbeat before his eyes fell, and he mumbled an apology. What had he just done?

Feeling incredibly dumb, Lilith didn't expect Drew to suddenly place down her coffee mug. She looked at him, almost confused, unsure of what was happening as his hand touched her jaw again. His fingertips were rough of her face, sending tingling sensations where he touched. His eyes were glowing somewhat and Lilith was intrigued by them when she noticed they were moving closer.
Closer? What was happ--. Her thoughts were interrupted as she felt his lips press against hers. They were gentle and she felt her eyes close, leaning into the kiss before he pulled away. She blinked, feeling shocked. What had just happened? He kissed her. She looked at him as he mumbled an apology, leaning away. Her eyebrows pulled together, frowning as she turned his head to look at him in the face. All she could do was shake her head as she leaned up, her hands moving to his shoulders as she pressed her lips against his again.
The butterflies went crazy as she moved herself closer to him, pressing against him. The kiss was like electricity to her, she felt tingles through her body as she moved her hands into his short hair. Before she realized it, she was on his lap, straddling him, deepening the kiss. After some seconds, she came up for air, feeling his hands on her waste, she studied his face, her hands moving down his face, down to his shoulders.
Her eyes were bright as she leaned in again, stealing more kisses as she moved her hands down his chest, reaching underneath his shirt. She broke the kiss, her breath coming fast. Her heart was racing and her lips tingled as she breathed, pulling his shirt over his head. She tossed it behind her as she pressed her lips against his again. She moved her hands to his chest, she paused. Her hands hit rough skins and she pulled pack, slightly surprised by it.
Leaning back, Lilith's eyes drifted down his chest, taking in the site. She slowly backed off of Drew, her eyes widening at the sheer number of scars she saw. She stepped back another step, her hand going over her mouth. She blinked. "Drew...what...how...." She felt tears prick her eyes. She was absolutly horrified that anything like that could happen to another person. She turned around, fixing her pony tail. Lilith felt her heart break inside of her, for the pain he must have went through, but she also felt a tinge of fear. What had happened that had produced so many scars...so much trauma....how did he survive? Lilith gripped the breakfast bar, not sure what to do.

With his mind spinning in confusion, he could only blink like an idiot when her hands moved to his shoulders and she pulled him into a deeper kiss. After the first moment of shock, his mind quieted again, and he decided he didn't care about the conflict. As she climbed onto his lap, his arm wrapped around her slender waist to press her slim form against the muscles of his torso. If he was fire, she was electricity, a bolt of pure energy that consumed all of his attention to the exclusion of anything else. He could feel her heartbeat across his skin, and everywhere she touched sent arcs of sensation tingling through him. Even when her fingers tangled into his hair, tugging a little at the roots, it only spurred him further.
It seemed like an eternity and an instant before she pulled away, and he was a little breathless as he looked into her eyes, his own still rimmed with blue. Even now, his years of practiced allowed him to delegate control of his power into the back of his mind, despite how his body seemed to react beyond the scope of his mental command. He closed his eyes, breathing in her scent as her lips brushed his face, like a butterfly wing on his skin. He almost didn't notice as her fingers found their way under his shirt and pulled it free, discarding it.
Harder to miss was the tension that hardened her muscles as her fingers brushed over some of the less sensitive flesh, which was scarred over without any apparent pattern. His mind seemed to crash for a moment, jarred out of the moment and confused because of it, but as she backed away, horror in her eyes, he looked down at himself and realized what had happened. She finally understood. Whatever his words, she hadn't truly grasped what his words meant until that moment. He hadn't anticipated how much it would hurt to see that horror in her eyes. Horror of him.
He stood slowly, not sure what he wanted. To apologize? To say he was sorry that he was a monster? To declare that it wasn't his fault? To absolve himself in her eyes, to say that he'd warned her?
His eyes fell to the floor, and he said nothing that he wanted to say. Instead, he walked silently to the place where his shirt lay crumpled in the floor, shook it once and slipped it back over his head, as if hiding the evidence would lessen it. His fingers shook as his arms dangled at his sides, and he clenched them into fists to hide it. Without a word, he found his way to the door and looked back at her once, a tired shame in his eyes.
"I'm sorry," he said softly.
He dare not touch her again before he walked out, closing the door softly behind himself. Walking down the stairs, he leaned against the metal fence, grasping it with both hands as he leaned forward, feeling oddly as if the wind had been knocked out of him. Swearing to himself as trembles overtook him, he closed his eyes and held more tightly to the fence until it passed. Only once he was more still did he stand upright again and head down the sidewalk, leaving only the warped metal railing as evidence that he'd ever been there.
