“Perhaps you will be able to one day.” the beast chuckled at eh feline's statement. He seemed rather surprised by what Garm said. The hound wasn't exaggerating his minion's capabilities. He did after all breed these little creatures to have such potential. His devas were even more crafty than the ones he had raised so far. They were a rare amongst their kin and were trained to be able to do more than their relatives could manage. But that was a tale for another time. The devas might be an important part of Garm's life but right now the focus of today's story centered around Rune, not them. As such Garm moved the conversation to focus on the cat laying on his couch instead. After explaining a little bit of how he had came to be here in New Orlando Garm asked the cat what he did for a living.
The answer he was given was an interesting one. Rune was a bartender. “That name...it sounds familiar.” Garm contemplated the bar's name for a moment. “Wait...the Wandering Mule. That's the name of one of the businesses I have seen not too far where we are now.” Ah yes, he remembered it now. The young hellhound was still new to the area but he was starting to get his barrings around the block he lived in. He had passed by the Wandering Mule a few times already. He had never paid much attention to it of course. It was always full of people and served things that he couldn't partake in anyway. “That explains why I found you so close to my territory, you must've been leaving work.” The male nodded in agreement to Rune's night time comment. “I am also a creature of the night.” For different reasons of course. Unlike a cat shifter Garm didn't have as much freedom to shift so he could hunt as he pleased. Night time was the best time he had to be the hellhound he was born to be with more insurance that he wouldn't have to deal with any of the local foolish mortals.
Speaking of mortals...Rune didn't seem too fond with social interaction Garm had discovered. It made sense that he felt that way given what had just happened. In that way Garm could relate. He had more than his fair share of bad experiences with mortals, perhaps even more so than Rune had thanks to his cursed blood. “Humans can be cruel, thoughtless, little beings. But not all of them are as vicious as the ones you met last night.” Garm never realized what he was saying until sometime after the words left his mouth. His thoughts drifted onto the angel woman he had met not to long ago who had tried to convince him that not all humans were bad. Even he had to admit she was not wrong. “You will run into more of the vicious ones in the dead of night. You should consider traveling back to your home in your animal form for now on. You are not as deadly as I am where fools like them would think twice about attacking you.”
Out of the corner of his eye the mighty hellhound caught a hint of movement. He turned his gaze by the edge of Rune's couch to see some of the other devas poking their heads out to look at him. If the rest of them were starting to emerge that meant it was starting to get late. With a quick nod in their direction Garm lifted himself off his seat and grabbed his empty plate. “If you want to leave by tomorrow night you are free to do so. You do not need to push yourself to rush out of my place. Take as much time as you need to recover so you can at least walk.” Garm walked over to Rune's side to grab the shifter's plate as well. “For today focus on resting. Sleep and conserve your energy. I will be around for an hour or two before I head out. I won't be gone too long.” The hound stood up again to head towards the kitchen when he noticed one of the hamster's silently creep up along side the couch by Rune's head, her sharp little teeth bared to bite the feline's ear while the cat was distracted. “Kali. No.” In a flash Garm the little troublemaker before she could attack, and dragged her off with him. The rest of his minions following along side them, eagerly waiting for their turn to feed.
