It was a warm, clear Summer day. The birds chirped happily in the tree tops, providing sweet little harmonies to those who could hear them. Squirrels scuttled down from their homes in the trees and hopped along in the grass. Over all, it was rather peaceful.
Rose looked out of the bay window in her kitchen, which looked out into a large backyard. She thought it was a rather pretty yard and was quite proud of it. Rose, Weylyn and Arganok had put quite a bit of work into it. Well, mostly Rose and Arg, considering Wey knew next to nothing about such things. They had a large garden filled with a variety of colored flowers that hugged the side of the house. Rose and Arg had gotten into a silly argument about the arrangement of the flowers, which they easily laughed about now. Arg had wanted them all color coded, and Rose wanted them mixed in a tasteful manner. Arg was very stubborn about the whole thing, to which finally Rose just huffed and said, "What does it matter if they are color coded? You can't tell the different anyways." Which, such a comment made Arganok pout and Weylyn comforted him and made Rose feel like the bad guy. Frustrated, Rose just gave Arg a small garden on the other side of the yard for which he could color code all he wanted. Of course...they weren't correct at all in their color codes, but to Arg they were. Rose and Wey just went along with it to make the silly beast happy.
The young woman grinned and shook her head at the thought of the gardens and looked out towards the right. There she could see a swing set which stood next to a small jungle gym. The swing set had been her idea, since in her old home years ago she had a swing set she shared with all her siblings. The jungle gym had been Weylyn's idea, because he figured the kids should have a few options of things to do at home. The jungle gym wasn't occupied for the moment, but rather the swings. Anna and Felkin swung side by side, giggling and arguing about who could swing the highest. Rose smiled, amused by her children and thinking how she and her brother had once been like that. Children were something else, that was for certain, especially her children. They had grown so big in what seemed like a short amount of time. They certainly appeared older than what they actually were. Which, this was probably a normal thing, considering they had so little human blood in them. They were only a couple of years old, and yet they could easily pass for six or seven. Rose was also starting to recognize who the children looked like the most. Felkin was definitely his father's son. It seemed the only thing he got from Rose was her eye color, which only appeared in his left eye, and her sense of curiosity. Anna on the other hand, looked more like Rose, though she could see Guillotine in her. Rose once felt such overwhelming guilt when she first found these similarities, and she always prayed Weylyn wouldn't see them like she did. Now however, the feeling of guilt had certainly died down because she felt happy she had Anna in her life, just as she was Felkin. And as far as Anna would ever know, Weylyn was her father. However, there would be a day when she would maybe have to tell her this was not the case, because Anna was gaining some abilities and habits her biological dad had.
Rose sighed. She would cross that bridge when she had to. Thinking back on Guillotine, she recalled him contacting her not so long ago. She had been happy to speak to her old friend, and realized just how much she had missed the Hellhound. He had asked if they could get together, and Rose had, perhaps a little too enthusiastically, invited him over to her place for dinner. Tonight she would be making steak, figuring he would like some sort of meat. If not, well, she was sure Arganok would eat whatever Guillotine didn't. Dinner wouldn't be for a while, seeing as she was still waiting for the meat to defrost. Rose had forgotten already when Gil was supposed to arrive, but thankfully she was ready for him at any time. She continued to watch the kids outside, making sure they weren't getting themselves into any trouble, which was honestly very hard to do here.

Today was going to be a great day. Guillotine could feel it! The hellhound had been ecstatic when his roommate agreed to let him visit his old friend. His butt had been waging so fast that he nearly fell over. Finally, Jesse was letting him go out on his own for once. This was a big deal in Guillotine’s eyes. The human never let him do anything. This might have had to do with their growing bond. Being around Jesse Gil had began to learn that he wasn’t so bad. Guillotine was even agreeing to help Jesse with his powers. Maybe that was the reason why he was so understanding? Was this a reward for helping him? Regardless, Guillotine was just happy to get to see Rose.
It hadn’t been too long ago that Gil managed to get into contact with his dear friend. She had been just as happy to hear from him as he had been with her. Rose even invited the hellhound to dinner. It was a fairly nice gesture. Gil wasn’t about to pass this opportunity up. This get together wouldn't have happened if it hadn’t been for Arg. At first the short male had been reluctant to give Gil any information about where Rose lived. The hound had to do a great deal of begging just to get what he wanted from the Oushaga. Suppose he shouldn't have been too surprised? Gil did have a track record of turning against people who were close to him. Poor Rose had been on the receiving end of a few of Gil’s tantrums. It was amazing the female even kept him as a friend at all. Especially after he’d gone after little Anna. Despite all of the pitfalls in their relationship Rose was willing to look past all of this and forgive her hellhound friend.
Guillotine had taken a taxi to Rose’s place this time. The hellhound wasn’t as athletic as he used to be. He’d been lock inside of Jesse’s home for so long that even a mile walk would have made him winded. God, he was so out of shape. Outside of missions the only other activity he immersed himself in was hunting down the television remote. That thing was just as elusive as a damn deer. Only, it didn’t put up much of chase. If it had then maybe Gil would have gotten at least some exercise.
Sitting in the back of the taxicab Guillotine peered down at the white top of his medicine bottle. It was poking innocently out of his coat pocket. It sat there, taunting the poor hound. Gil’s pale hand’s reached down and pulled it out. This seemingly magical drug worked on his instincts when taken in large doses. He was advised not to take two pills anymore as it had an effect on his ability to change forms. Grimacing, Guillotine studied the contents inside of the bottle. He still couldn’t believe these small white pills could hold so much power over him. He was a hellhound for goodness sake! Yet, some human made substance was able to lay claim to his mind. Ultimately, making him more human. Guillotine had already taken his normal dosage for today. However, he was contemplating on taking more. He was going to need to rid himself of his instinct. Today he was about to walk into the lion's den; or in this case the cat’s den. If Wey was around Gil wasn't too sure what he would do. Gil still held a bit of a grudge against the shadow cat for messing with his head and taking his Rose away from him. Not only did he have to worry about that damn cat and his little shit but Anna as well. She would surely put him on edge. The hellhound didn’t care what these pills would do to him. Gil needed to take an extra pill today. Even if he wouldn’t be able to turn back into a hellhound for a while. In the end It would be for the best.
Gil, like the idiot that he was, would still take another dose of his medication. After popping the top Guillotine pushed a small white pill into his mouth. He had worked up enough saliva to swallow it without too much difficulty. Gil knew he was beginning to be too dependent on these things. The PIDA had already upped the dosage. Despite all this Guillotine thought he could handle it. After all it was just for today, right? Gil didn’t intend on starting any fights or killing anyone. Slipping his pill bottle back into his pocket, the hound sighed. For the time being he was going to play human, and like it.
It didn’t take long for the cab to pull into the neighborhood. Gil sat there in awe. The houses in this neighboring were huge! He’d previously thought that only Akhtar owned a large mansion-like house. Man, was he wrong. Was Wey secretly a prince or something? Could cat-princes even be a thing? As Gil thought this over the driver pulled up to Rose’s home. Guillotine couldn’t quite believe his eyes. Rose was living in a lavish mansion. One that seemed to dwarf her old apartment. Hell, this was a major upgrade from her old home. This place made the apartments and even Jesse's home look like shit. Perhaps the shadow cat wasn’t so bad after all? Wey had given Rose something Gil could never had imagined.
Stepping out of the car Gil paid the driver and strolled on up to the front gate. Luckily, it was open for him to walk through. As he did so thought’s of marking his territory onto this property streamed into his head. He was contemplating on marking the gate, but he stopped and figured marking the house would be better. Bits of instinct still lingered around in that skull of his. It was a sign that Gil’s medication had yet to kick in. The hellhound walked into the yard. Standing there for a moment he looked around. No one else appeared to be outside, perfect. A devilish smirk had appeared onto his handsome face as he finally approached the house. It would only take a second, right? He could mark this house and then it would be his! With a sharp toothed grin Gil shimmied over to the wall, unzipped his pants, and began to mark his territory. A dark chuckle had crept from his lips as he continued his stream of glory. Ha, take that you damn cat. This house is mine now. Oh, what a day this was turning out to be.

Rose walked towards the door that led to the back porch and she popped it open just enough to poke her head out. "You two behave yourselves alright? I'll be right back." She called, smiling at the twins. They both looked over at her as they swung, giggling. "We will mom!" Felkin called as he looked beside him, giving Anna a playful glare. Ah Felkin, certainly the most behaved of the two, unlike Anna. Not that Anna was a bad girl, she was just a little on the bold, wild side...too much like her mother as a child, and no doubt how Guillotine was. Rose chuckled and walked away towards the living room.
She always found herself looking around her home still in amazement. It really felt like living in a small palace, and she felt overly spoiled. Her childhood home had been large, but certainly not to this caliber. She almost felt like a snob for living here, but it was what Weylyn wanted, which he thought this was what she wanted. Rose wasn't complaining much about it, she liked it. Although it felt like such a big lonely place when everyone was out. Weylyn was out doing who knows what, Arganok was at work, and Violet and Malakaor were up to who knows what as well. She shrugged to herself and proceeded towards the window, which was still covered up by the curtains. Rose had forgotten to open them once it got brighter out, but she was just about to rectify that.
Rose paused for a moment, suddenly feeling a little apprehensive about Guillotine's visit. She was excited at the thought of seeing him again, and yet, she was nervous. Though the two's friendship went a ways back, it certainly had it's...well, not so stable times. Though generally Hellhounds and demons...well, half demons she supposed, generally got along, it wasn't unusual for either to turn on the other. Hellhounds were a rowdy bunch, driven by instincts of causing mischief and misfortune. Demons were, well, generally the same. Having diluted demon blood certainly helped with not being so, well, chaotic. At least nowadays. Rose and Guillotine, back before Weylyn was ever in the picture, had been fairly close, and could easily shake off anything that hit them. It was harder for Rose to just shake off the things her Hellhound friend did, especially towards her new family. And yet, she couldn't shut out her friend forever. It hurt her to even think about doing such a thing. Maybe now that some time had passed since their last meeting, perhaps the Hellhound would have matured some. Who knew though?
Giving a small sigh, Rose figured she would worry about Gil once he was actually here. She pulled back the curtains, allowing the sunlight to filter into the room. She noticed way down the drive that there was a cab that had begun pulling away. It was then that she saw Guillotine sauntering up the drive towards the house. Rose grinned brightly and rushed towards the door, opening it up maybe a little too quickly as she stepped outside. "Gil! So glad you could--"She paused, having caught Guillotine "marking" the side of the house. "Really Gil? Really?" She said in the most annoyed sounding tone she could muster, though it was easy to tell she was hiding a smile. Typical Gil. "Just because you peed there it doesn't mean the house is yours!" She scolded, still fighting a grin. Rose strode over towards the hound, reached up, and lightly bopped him on the nose with her finger tips. "Bad doggy! We don't do that here!" Rose said with a mock frown, which immediately was replaced with a bright grin. Such a silly hound. How she missed him so.

Man, it felt so good to be outside. It had been quite some time since Guillotine had been out on his own. He was lucky Jesse even agreed to this little outing or else he wouldn’t have come. Guillotine stood there, looking almost as if he didn’t have a care in the world. A stupid grin had plastered itself onto his handsome face. The beast continued to mark his territory onto the side of Rose’s lavish home. His stream of glory continued going strong. Gil contemplated on whether he should stop and mark something else that belonged to Wey. Oh, just the thought of owning these things made the hound happy. He'd taken away his Rose, so Gil would take his stuff. Oh wait, Rose. If only he could mark Rose too. Gil shook his head at that thought, no that would be gross. If he were to take Rose he’d have to take the little brats as well. Guillotine grimaced at the thought of having those two little half breeds crawling over him, demanding snacks and whatnot. The hound didn’t think he could handle one child, let alone two.
As these thoughts occupied the hound’s mind he’d yet to notice the front door opening. He was just about to finish up when a voice streamed into his ears. The hellhound nearly jumped at the sound. His frame stood straight and the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Someone had been calling his name. Damn it, he’d been caught. Gil slowly looked to who was talking to him only to get bopped on the nose. He should have recognised this voice by now, it was Rose! This caused the hound to snort. Did she really just hit his nose? What was he a bad dog? When the female spoke Gil couldn’t help but to chuckle. “Yeah, this little spot on the house belongs to me, no? Unless you wanna' have Wey come outside and pee over it.” He teased before giving himself a shake before sticking himself back into his pants and zipping them up. All the while Rose stated that was something that shouldn’t be done outside. Gil had trouble holding in his laughter. “W-Where do you want me to go then, on the couch?”
God, he missed his dear friend. A sincere smile appeared onto Guillotine’s handsome face. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.” He cooed, wrapping his arms around the girl. After giving her a quick hug Gil looked her in the eye and said, “You never told me you living in a castle.” The male then smirked as he looked up at the actual house. It was getting hard to really hate Wey. Not after all that he was doing for both Rose and her kids. Despite this new found respect Gil would continue to tease. “That damn cat isn’t pampering you too much is he?” Gil asked, trying to sound angry about it being a bad thing for Rose to be too pampered. All of it was in good fun though.

Looking up at Guillotine, Rose still couldn't help but grin. It felt like ages had passed when she had first met the Hellhound. She had been a troublesome, immature girl who had hurt so many by being who she was. And perhaps it had been incredibly unwise to befriend someone like Guillotine. Rose had known this, and had been warned of getting tangled up with "bad characters" such as him. Of course, she paid no mind to the warning because, well, fuck those people. If she had the option to go back and change everything...well, it was hard to say now what she would have done. Well, it didn't matter now. Despite the many, many, rough patches that had occurred, things turned out alright.
Rose laughed at how startled Guillotine seemed. He had been so preoccupied with marking his territory that he didn't see her coming. She didn't think she would ever understand why Gil, or rather, any male creature, had to pee on things to mark their territory. "Wouldn't it be a lot less gross if you just...I dunno, put a flag on that spot?" She shook her head as she looked at the spot of the house that was now apparently Gil's. "No, I will not have Wey come out here and pee on the house!" She said, almost sounding appalled at the thought. "Of course...he may just do it anyways...You boys and your need to be alpha male." She giggled as she looked back him. The look he was giving her cracked her up even more, and she once again shook her head. "You know, they have this new fantastic invention called a toilet. They're usually shiny and white and it gets rid of all your nasty body waste. It's much better to use that then to do your business outside. Or on couches for that matter...specifically my couch." She grinned in amusement as a moment passed between the two in silence.
Suddenly, Rose was pulled in towards the hound. Surprised, she just simply let him pull her into him, a gesture she had truly missed. True, she had moments like these with Weylyn often, and as nice as it was, it was different being in Gil's arms again. She laughed, soft and chiming as she wrapped her arms around her old friend. Rose had missed this man. She missed his comforting warmth and his scent, as oddly as that sounded. Awww, you missed me? Getting a little soft aren't we Gil?" She teased before burrowing her face into shoulder briefly. "I really missed you too." Rose smiled, pulling away from the male.
Walking back towards the door, she chuckled at Gil's comment. "Well, we only just moved in sort of recently. It is a little bit isn't it?" She shook her head and opened the door. Walking in, she turned her head to look at the hound again. "Ugh you wouldn't believe how pampered I am!" Rose said with an over exaggerated groan. "It's almost too much for me! There are days where I cry at night, missing my shit hole apartment! Oh woe is me!" She put a hand to her forehead, pretending to be truly heartbroken over the idea. Rose laughed and walked over towards the kitchen. "So! Want anything to drink? We got pretty much anything you could want." She said with a smile, rubbing the back of her neck with one hand and gesturing towards the kitchen's slightly over-sized fridge. Rose then glanced out the window, taking a sneak peek at the kids, whom have remained doing the same thing since she had gone to let Gil inside.

((Sorry for the long post I had a muse explosion D: ))
“A-A flag? No, why would I use a stupid flag?” Guillotine replied, he cocked his head to the side like a confused pup. Did Rose really just tell him to put a flag on the house instead of marking it with his scent? Well, this was a first. The comment had been so outlandish that it had caught Guillotine off guard. Hell, the thought alone nearly made him laugh. Gil stood there, watching Rose as she looked down at the place where he had marked his territory. Luckily for Guillotine she didn’t seem too angry about it. With a light smirk he said, “You humans are so silly.” When Rose mentioned that, despite her wishes, Wey just might walk outside and mark over the scent Guillotine chuckled darkly and put his hands together in a seemingly evil-like fashion. “Good, then a pissing contest will be in order then?” Oh, it was too fun to tease Rose. It was so easy, the woman even played along. Ah yes, her company was a lot more enjoyable than his partner TB’s. That guy was so uptight. At least Jesse was a little more open to a good laugh.
Lowering his hands to his side, Guillotine rolled his eyes at the toilet comment. Really? Did Rose expect him to use the porcelain throne when he’d been doing his business outside since he got to this realm? Apparently pissing on her home was a no-no now. Rose was expecting him to use the toilet. With a cocky tone Guil replied, “Toilets are for chumps. Why would you piss in something that gives you water anyway?” He then scoffed, “When I first saw it I thought it was a water bowl!” Guillotine didn’t seem the least bit ashamed to admit it.”Actually, I still kinda’ think it is a big water bowl...”
“Me getting soft? Ha! Never!” The hound snorted, “If you think I am getting soft you have another thing coming. I killed like two humans this morning thank you very much!” Guillotine lied through his fans. Finally, after chatting it up for a few minutes Rose lead Guillotine through the front door. All the while he had caught her comment about the place. Oh, Rose. “A little? Take a look around. This place is f*cking huge!” Guillotine threw his hands up in a child-like fashion. It wasn’t like he was going to knock anything over. Sure, he might have been rather tall, but his height wasn’t much of an issue in a home like this. For once he could jump up and down on the damn couch if he wanted too and not risk hitting his head on the ceiling! With a sharp toothed grin Guillotine turned to Rose. “It’ll take a lot of piss to mark this place, ya’ know. I hope your mate has a big bladder.” He replied, turning his attention to the room. Looking around he took in all the new smells this place had to offer. Man, if he thought the outside looked huge his jaw nearly dropped to the floor when they walked inside. The hellhound then laughed at Rose’s comments about her old home. As he began to sniff around, perhaps being too nosy for his own good, he said, “You know you miss that sh*t heap, with it’s roaches, stray cats, and noisy neighbors. “ Ah yes, those were the good old days.
After checking out a rather interesting scent on the couch Guillotine turned back to Rose. The woman had already made her way to the kitchen. Walking over to her Gil looked the half breed up and down. He couldn’t quite believe it. She had really grown into a fine young woman. Rose was married with kids, and had a large house to live in. All that was missing was the white picket fence. It would be a lie to say that Gil wasn’t jealous of Wey. What more could the little creten ask for? He had just about everything his little heart desired, including the woman Gil once had feelings for. Soon, Rose offered Guillotine a drink. Looking over at the fridge Guillotine’s forest green eyes widened. It was, much like the house, large. The hellhound didn’t want to raid her fridge though he was sure there would be plenty of tasty treasures just hidden behind those doors. Rose even mentioned that they had just about anything he could want. “With a fridge like that I’m sure you do.” Guillotine cooed. Now that he was thinking about it he could use a steak. Perhaps she had a whole human stashed in there? No, he couldn’t think like that. The hellhound shook his head. “No, I’m fine. I need to watch what I take in anyway. You know, hellhound diet.” The hound teased as he patted his stomach. Since he wasn’t allowed to eat humans anymore Jesse, his roommate, had put him on a strict diet that would help compensate for that. It would be a shame if he were to ruin it now.
Guillotine then watched as Rose made her way over to the window. She appeared to be looking at something. Interesting, just what was she looking at.? Slowly, Guillotine walked over to Rose’s side. Slipping his hands into his pockets he looked out the window. This was when he found out just what Rose was looking at. Outside in the yard where two little kids swinging on the swings. Gil’s emerald eyes widened in shock. He recognised the children almost immediately. Both Felkin and little Anna had grown so much. It was amazing. The last he’s seen Anna she was so small. Now she looked least seven! He couldn't help but to wonder if this would happen to Akeelah’s pup as well. Would their child grow fast like Anna? Well, suppose only time will tell. A light grin appeared onto Guillotine’s handsome face as he continued to watch the children play. Wey had given the them so much. It was clear he was able to give Anna and Rose a pleasant place to stay. If the two females were living with Gil all they would get was a trashy apartment and humans to eat. Hell, If Gil did chose to raise Anna he would have taught her how to kill and devour humans. (If the PIDA hadn’t caught him first.) Whether Gil wanted to admit it or not this whole living situation had been for the best.
Thanks to Gil’s medication he wouldn’t be feeling as beastly today. He’d seem like a half normal human for once now that the pills were starting to kick in. Watch the children play Gil smirked. He really couldn’t believe his eyes. “Wow, both of them have grown up so fast. The last time I saw Anna she was a tiny thing.” He replied before looking over at Rose. He gave her a quick look over before chuckling. ”She is starting to look a lot like her mother. I guess that could be a good thing. We wouldn’t want her looking like a mangy mutt like me, eh?” He teased, turning his head to look outside once more. Watching as Anna and felkin interacted It would appear that Anna did get one thing from him, his attitude.
“So, notice anything strange happening with Anna? Is she showing signs of being a hellhound or is the little runt still playing human?” He questioned with a chuckle. If it wasn’t for Anna’s eyes he could swear she was human. Her scent of course said otherwise. But what human could pick up on something like that? The hellhound seemed more intrigued in the children than usual. During past experiences he would attempt to ignore, or even kill the children just to get them out of his sight. Now, he was standing there, watching them play. It was clear that his meds’ had finally kicked in. Though, this sudden interest in children could also be because Akeelah was having a pup of her own. Guillotine’s partner TB even said that he had to take parenting classes if he wanted to be anywhere near the shifter and her cub. It was a strange request but Gil had agreed to it. Perhaps later he could break the news to Rose, and get some tips on taking care of children. Rose would have to know a thing or two about taking care of half breeds. Not only did she have some of her own, but if he could recall she had siblings as well. Surely, she had to take care of them too. Guilt began to worm its way into Gil’s skull as he continued to watch Anna. Here he was having more kids, and yet, he was neglecting his first. It took everything in Gil’s power to shake this from his head. Those damn pills were starting to get to him. Leaving Anna to stay with Rose and Wey had been for the best.
