“...protect me from evil.” A young modulated voice echoed through the cathedral, chanting his comforting prayer before the holy altar, the gorge. The saintly surroundings put the Angel’s soul in a peaceful trance which allowed the warrior to ponder his plans to protect the innocents of the mortal world. Since descending from Heaven he had not yet encountered an evil force to destroy. However, he was confident they would not escape him for long; individuals of sinister nature never stayed hidden for long for their blood lust needed to be sustained constantly. That was where Adonis came in. The very thought of these senseless creatures preying upon the defenseless and weak, believing themselves to be without fault caused a lurching disgust that fed his need to destroy such senseless monsters. Tensing his fist, he cast a earnest gaze to the stone idol of Mary, arms outstretched as if beckoning Adonis into a consoling embrace. He would protect these humans with the very fiber of his existence. He would not stop until this land of guiltlessness was cleansed or the wicked and he would gladly act as God’s affliction against evil.
Rising from his knee he bid farewell to the loving Mother with a blessing across his chest, kissing his hand gently before presenting it to his Lord. “Blessed be.” He whispered melodiously before turning to leave this place of holy worship. He gently pushed the door, feeling the caressing winds of the morning air tickle his skin. This world was a strange place however it fascinated him equally for there were many beautiful things. The sky, the wind, the scents, and the tasty trinkets humans called “food.” One of the first things he tried after collecting himself from his descent was this amazing thing called ice cream. It chilled his body with each bite to the point it caused a strange pain inside his skull which apparently they called a “brain freeze.” The very thought of this delicious food convinced him his next order of business was to find somewhere that carried ice cream. He would enjoy this beautiful day to its fullest for he could do little at the moment and it was probably best to observe and blend this realm first. Where could he go? Adonis was still not used to his surroundings so he hadn’t had very good luck finding where he needed to go. It was by devout luck he found this house of God.
“Which way?” He mumbled, eyes scanning the scenery before him. Stepping away from the church he glanced in each direction trying to decipher the best course of action. Adonis was rather speechless by his vulnerability here for he had never experienced such emotions before. He was always prepared for the inevitable so being lost and witless made him feel uncomfortable. Adonis was one of the strongest Angels so seeing a leader so weak was rather shameful. He managed to reach this place from a yellow box with wheels however it seemed this man-controlled vehicle was gone. “Left or right? Straight maybe... who knows. I am sure there is a place to have this ice cream.”

It was a rather nice summer day for New Orlands standards. Coming from a desert kingdom Akhtar was used to the heat but the heat in New Orlands was almost unbearable. He couldn't take the constant heat. He would be happy once the cool winter months came in. The sun was out and shining but there were clouds within the sky giving relief to the world below from the suns harmful rays. A nice summer breeze blew through the area. The birds could be heard singing their songs happily as the crickets hummed along them within the fields. The church grounds were actually rather beautiful. The church itself was a Gothic style cathedral. Many of the city's catholic population attended the church's masses.
One of the many attendees was Akhtar, the Egyptian wizard Prince. His family ruled over the kingdom of Zahirah which stretched from Morocco all the way onto the first half of Saudi Arabia. While all the present day countries existed the wizarding kingdom was there long before they were formed. The wizarding world was invisibile to mortals of non wizard blood or who possessed no special abilities, or other supernatural beings. The Prince had left there to come to New Orlands to open up his own stores which were doing quite well. His best friend came with him but unfortunately died. His body was returned to his family in Zahirah but they also established a cenotaph in New Orlands for the friends he had here for them to visit some form of a final resting place. The cenotaph was elaborate and fit for a king.
Akhtar was walking around the grounds as it was the anniversary of the date that his best friend died in his sleep. He had went and sat inside of the cenotaph for a while talking to his friend although he was not physically there. Akhtar saw a man who looked lost and seemed to be wondering around the grounds with ice cream in his hand. Akhtar smirked a bit.Deciding to help the man Akhtar crossed the relatively short distance between him. The Prince's long jet black hair was being whipped around by the wind. He walked over to the man and said in his strong Egyptian accent, "It seems like you're a bit lost there...Is there something I can help you with?" Akhtar offered the man a friendly smile to show he didn't want any harm he was just trying to be a helping hand.
The Prince couldn't help but read the man's aura. It was a bit strange. It was golden but tinges of orange and black mixed together. The man could easily be corrupted but it seems that he was over all good. Akhtar didn't want to even mention what he was seeing so he kept quiet and waited for the stranger to respond. Maybe he was reformed demon? Akhtar wasn't sure...Maybe he was the son of a dark wizard and a good witch? There were many options that could give reasoning to the colors of his aura...

Adonis continued to scan his surroundings accordingly before a stranger’s voice crept beside him causing the warrior of God to rotate cautiously. Although Adonis hadn’t sensed any sort of hostility, this newcomer had approached soundlessly which greatly disturbed Adonis; such an incident as this was alien to him. Since coming to this realm he discovered a sense of mortality in his soul, a thought that was unimaginably incomprehensible. Angels were ageless, unable to pass but looking upon his human form and contemplating the innocents so identical to him, it was difficult not to feel vulnerable like the rest. Most assuredly, this site of death and loss only deepened the feeling further causing a slight nervousness rise from his normally domineering voice.
The mysterious man was young, obviously refined by his composure and presentation, reminding Adonis of those closest to His Lord. He appeared foreign most especially with the strange accent Adonis could not pinpoint... obviously. The Angel was like a child in a never ending ice cream store; he knew nothing about this realm but he loved it dearly almost unwavering companionship. However, this world was not a kind mistress for many of its inhabitants were corrupted and vile. The very thought of such demeaning individuals caused his blood to boil over. He kept calm in the presence of the guest.
“Uh... Yes I am.” A equally friendly chuckle escaping his lips, wringing his fingers together awkwardly like a little lost boy. Stroking the bad of his head anxiously, Adonis attempted to observe this man’s soul to pinpoint any sins that maybe this man deemed to never be revealed. What he received in return was rather surprising; he was pure. In Adonis’ entire time visiting this realm he had not spotted such a pure hearted inner being. The angel’s expression soothed from Akhtar company, relaxing his apprehensive demeanor. “I am actually looking for a place that sell this delicious desert called... ice cream? Do you know of it and any places near by that would carry it?” This was Adonis’ sad attempt at blending in.

Akhtar couldn't help but laugh. The man before him was obviously not from around here. Not like how Akhtar wasn't from the United States but he was not from this realm...It was painfully obvious. Akhtar had met his fair share of "other realm" individuals. This included a few of his current employees. One in particular being Guillotine or simply, Gil. Akhtar had to spot them simply off of the things they said. Akhtar doubted it was anyone of Earth who didn't know what ice cream was. Akhtar couldn't believe so many people had continued to come through the portal.
There were so many people that were now in New Orlands who came through the portal and adjusted well and then there were those who couldn't seem to cope at all. Akhtar looked to the man and said,"Well..for one I don't know what you are or where you're from but a word of advice....most people know what ice cream is. Two...you're near a rather secluded area considering this is holy ground. They try not to taint areas near churches...Really conservative people I guess you could say. I think there is an ice cream shop not too far from here. It is about a ten to fifteen minute drive. I can have my driver take you if you would like a ride?"
Akhtar normally didn't offer random strangers rides but he felt he could trust the man. Besides if he did try anything Akhtar could take care of himself...easily. The wizard Prince was rather happy to meet a new face though. Akhtar had recently started to feel as if he knew EVERYONE in New Orlands. It was always welcoming to see a new face. It didn't hurt anyone to be polite. Perhaps that is why everyone was so drawn to the wizard? He was so warm and inviting to everyone. He made them all feel welcomed and like family.

“Oh... Ah, yes of course it is.” A weary smile crept along Adonis’ chiseled visage, eyes darting steadily to the concrete sidewalk as nervousness overwhelmed him. He obviously had been discovered, there was no doubt from how this mysterious man had addressed the Warrior; a sensation of defeat swept over Adonis as he realized how pathetic he was in this confusing world. At least he had found forgiving company! It had been a vain ambition to keep this mortal disguise alive with everything Adonis was as an individual. Hungry for justice and stubborn were not frequent attitudes here, and especially his method of speech was a big red flag for those who were aware of this other-world beings. Adonis failed miserably with these “lol” or “omg” phrases he had observed with the young, as if speaking their own tribal language. He had only recently discovered vehicles and televisions... that was an obvious indicator to his innocence.
Might as well drop the charade. Kicking the floor, Adonis gazed at his company, sighing. “Since there is no point in hiding this fact, my name is Adonis Vaas, warrior for The Creator Himself. I have been sent here to halt a possible plot to destroy this innocent planet.” He paused, his introduction much like the soldier he was. “I am searching for any evil creature that attempt to harm the innocents of all kinds, human or not. And... yes also ice cream.” Embarrassed, Adonis stroked his head anxiously. “That is how greetings are done here yes? I am not familiar of this world’s customs and manner of speech.”
Would he accept this invitation? It seemed rather odd but he was lost. “Y-yes please. Tell me your name sir so I may address you properly and I hope you do not find this imposing but what were you doing here in the house of the King of Kings?”

Akhtar couldn't help but laugh at the attempt the now revealed Warrior Angel made at an introduction. English wasn't Akhtar's first language but he was of course given courses to speak it correctly as he was apart of the educated elite and one would swear it was Adonis who was not used to speaking English. However his over compassionate heart wouldn't allow Akhtar to be so callous and laugh in the man's face. He didn't want to come off as rude and abrasive when that was the furthest thing from his nature. The youngest Prince of the Zuelma Royal Family stood and watched Adonis' behavior. It was obvious the man was not comfortable to his surroundings.
Akhtar listened to Adonis explain his purpose to him which was ironically his greeting, one could imagine it was at least an attempt at a proper greeting. Akhtar gave his inviting warm smile and spoke again, "Adonis my friend...That is not a greeting many people around here will expect to receive. You simply say something along the lines of Hi, I'm Adonis...nice to meet you...You may or may not want to extend a hand for a hand shake. It depends on the person and the situation okay? " Akhtar hoped he hadn't overwhelmed him with information he had just given him. After all this new world could be a lot for people.
Akhtar decided to continue his lesson on greetings with Adonis when the angel asked him for his name,"You see Adonis I am a special case...I am from a royal family so when asked my name and when it is given I normally have to stylize it and attach my title which is His Royal Imperial Highness...but for you...you just call me Akhtar...like all of my other friends do..is that okay with you?" Akhtar could see his black Mercedes not too far off in the distance so he was preparing himself to take his leave.
Adonis asked him what he was doing by the church. Akhtar found that relatively strange. It was a question most people didn't ask and he felt it was a bit personal but decided to go ahead and share the nature of his visit. "Well...I was at the cemetery visiting my best friends memorial site...Today is the anniversary of his death so I decided to come and spend a bit of time here. After I left there I decided to walk the grounds...What is it that brought you here?" As Akhtar asked the last question his car pulled up and Khaled his driver came and opened the door for him. Before stepping inside Akhtar turned to Adonis and said, "So...are you coming or not?" With that he lowered himself into the car and slid over leaving space for Adonis should he accept the still standing invitation.

If Adonis had a pad and paper he would have been scrawling notes like a crazy school child hungry for knowledge. The Angel nodded respectfully with each heartwarming tip on how to exist in this complicated world; it was natural in the realm of light to not even utter a single world for conversations all transpired in the mind and strangely vocal communication was extremely difficult for him to translate from his head. Adonis, a few times actually (on accident mind you), attempted to speak through his mind to the humans however he was quick to retract in another sad endeavor to blend. Adonis, cleared his throat to try out these good-natured tips. “Hi, my name is Adonis.” He paused for a moment before remarking. “Such strange customs, how does anyone know of each other intentions?”
A ‘handshake’? It was a peculiar movement he had observed when ascending to this world, an apparently mutual greeting by clasping the two individuals hands together followed by a nodded motion. Adonis shook his head to comfort his considerate company. “You are in no way overwhelming me, I can handle much more than this, for I have killed enough demons to deal with stress.” He retorted bluntly, a quick grin spreading along his chiseled visage.
Akhtar? Prince? Royal? “I see, I was not aware that such royalty was present here on Earth. I apologize for my uncouth demeanor His Royal Imperial Highness. And I could not, proper formalities are in order!” Adonis was extremely principled so such relaxed titles did not interest him for the Warrior Angel found it disrespectful not to address those by their proper titles. However, ven with this thought in mind one thing was absolutely clear: no one was above Him. He was The Creator, The King of Kings, and The Maker. A warmth enveloped the Angel as he pondered of Him, utterly inspired by his compassion and trust in Adonis to protect His creations. It was an honor to serve such a being.
Adonis immediately felt guilty for expressing such interest in the Royal’s personal endeavors. The Warrior Angel’s expression fell glum from the mention of innocent life so needlessly taken away; even though this man’s friend certainly went to Him, those left behind greatly affected Adonis... the thought of loneliness was terrifying to Adonis, for he had never experienced such fear even in war. Adonis dropped his head sincerely, bowing slight in an attempt to apologize. “I am sorry Your Highness for prying so needlessly. I will most certainly pray for your friend when I return to this house of worship.”
Adonis was completely embarrassed, taking no heed to what was transpiring in front of him, a new stranger appearing inside the strange vehicles littering the paved streets. He believed that surviving in this realm would have been simple but there were plenty of things he didn’t understand that caused a nervous pain inside. When his companion offered him transportation to the delicious ice cream, Adonis could do little to argue and sauntered, defeated and shamed. “Thank you.” Entering the car, he sat beside Akhtar.
Within moments, his dejected attitude morphed to outright fascination when he observed this odd vehicle up close, and inside. The refreshing scent was not familiar to the Angel but it was utterly breathtaking and calming; it was almost like... a flower perhaps? The interior was adorned stylishly suitable only for first-class and Akhtar even had a personal transport who seemed extremely nice and well bathed. Not like his crazed company in the yellow car that transported him here. “Wow.”

Sitting in the car comfortably as Khaled drove towards the ice cream shop Akhtar continued to smile listening to all of Adonis' questions. This man really had no idea of what life on earth was like. He was naive and almost childlike. Akhtar was happy to have found the man before more sinister forces could have found him. Akhtar would have to remind the man to calm himself of the sermons though. He didn't want to be viewed as an extremist of any kind. While Akhtar was well liked by many in the town and a notable person in the community he still experienced a bit of prejudiced behavior because of ignorant people.
Looking out the window for a moment while listening to Adonis insist on calling him "Your Highness" and other too high brow titles Akhtar chuckled. Turning to the angel he said, "Honestly Adonis...I must insist that you call me Akhtar. If we were in Zahirah, my kingdom and also my homeland...Which so you know stretches from Morocco and all of North Africa all the way to a small portion of Saudi Arabia. My kingdom is not visible to the human eye. Yourself and other supernatural beings would be able to see and pass through the barrier that would grant you access to it. There you would have to refer to me as Your Highness in public but behind palace walls you could call me Akhtar. No Prince Akhtar or anything like that...I again must insist. "
Akhtar gave another warm smile. He hoped he was wrong but he looked over to the fascinated angel. "Adonis...please tell me you have ridden in a car before?" Akhtar had to remember that not everyone was as fortunate as himself and Adonis was obviously fresh through the barrier so it may not have been so weird to assume that after all. It was Akhtar's patience that would make him Adonis' patience. The angel could ask millions of questions and Akhtar would take the time to answer them all to the best of his ability.

Adonis presented visible irritation from His Highness’ humble request to be addressed without proper titles and simple as “Akhtar”. Circuits in the Angel’s brain seemed to fizzle and snap from the very idea of not properly honoring his modest full given name but alas Adonis was the guest and sighed, defeated once again. “As you wish... Akhtar.” The basic name stung his tongue like a whip and he closed his hazel irises as if pleading for forgiveness to no one but himself. When Akhtar spoke of his home realm, the idea of such a world existing within another fascinated him (even though his own realm was the exact same principle, just in the sky). However, as he processed the exact words, Adonis realized that Akhtar was supernatural as well. He turned to him, eyes smiling with wonder. “What is your realm like and what are these lands you speak of?” As a warrior Adonis had no time for studious observations of the human world so he had appeared in this land blind of any knowledge to keep him afloat. He knew very little, but it obviously was not enough.
“I have, but not like this!” He addressed Akhtar, eyes blazing with fascination. “I rode in a vehicle they call a... taxi? It smelt of corruption and death, among other ungrateful sins.” He huffed as his tone seemed to morph into the battle worn angel he was. He had been annoyed by the very thought of such vile beings wandering these innocent streets, slaughtering and destroying. Adonis deeply wanted to aide this realm but the evil lurked deep in the darkness, skulking about when they so choose and away from Adonis’ justice bound gaze. “So much hides in this city...” He continued his long deep tones, eyes casting to the glass reflecting the outside world to him, almost beckoning him.
“Where does evil lurk here?” He questioned bluntly, irises blazed with hunger for the blood of evil. “I must continue my crusade soon.”

Khaled pulled the car into the parking lot of the ice cream shop. Parking the car Khaled stepped out and opened the door for Adonis on one side and Akhtar on the other. Before exiting the car Akhtar waved off Khaled so he could speak with Adonis for a few more moments before they went inside the shop. Taking note of Akhtar's gesture Khaled left the pair to their own devices.
Akhtar when asked about his realm couldn't help but smile. He spoke of Zahirah so fondly he couldn't help but smile when just the thought of it popped into his head. He said to the angel, "To put it simply my kingdom is what North Africa and a portion of the Middle East would look like if they were perfectly balanced and at peace. I must say our kingdom is probably even better than here. Of course the backdrop is totally different than the one here. The kingdom is filled with man different supernatural beings. It isn't just witches or wizards. It is pretty much any supernatural being you can think of. We have our share of evil beings but my family has kept the perfect balance with them for centuries so even they are I guess you could say...happy?"
Looking at the angel Akhtar laughed at his reaction about the car. It was obvious that the angel didn't like taxis. Well who really did? They all smell funny and tend to be rather dirty. The prince definitely preferred having his own vehicle than that of public transportation.
Looking over Akhtar couldn't help but look at Adonis weirdly. There was that dark part of his aura once more. It seemed to consume him momentarily. Perhaps the angel didn't realize the darkness was trying to take over his entire being. Akhtar almost felt uncomfortable sitting next to him while he behaved like this. He was almost put off. This angel had his own inner demons to fight it seems.
Looking to his own religious upbringing Akhtar said to the Angel, "The good Lord has made this life where there are many types of people here. The devil has however tried to corrupt the forces of good on this earth since time started itself. I can't tell you where the evil lurks because it lurks everywhere. Everyone seems to be born with a small amount of evil in them. It comes down to the point that the person has to ultimately make the choice for if they will serve God or allow the devil to corrupt that small portion in their soul."
Akhtar hoped his words would soothe the angel and get him to calm down. It was almost as if the angel had almost turned into a vampire searching for blood.

It was uncanny how appropriate Akhtar’s word had been as the fiery Angel monitored every passerby with unnatural hunger as if unconsciously begging for an evil soul to appear in the midst of this peace. Adonis was blind to his suggestive actions, to him it was all in the name of God who he believed was greatly pleased by his dedication to the lifelong teachings given to him. Unlike the innocent humans who wandered the street allowed to choose their path Adonis was created in the image of God and his right to take action against the evil’s of the world; he was nothing without this God given purpose. The Warrior turned to his friend, expression molding slowly from the merciless stare just a few moments ago to a cheerful admiration. “Beautiful teachings my friends. I haven’t heard eloquent teachings as that in a long time.” He lifted a gracious hand to Akhtar, patting his arm comfortingly. “I have hunted through out the realms and defeated countless demons who found it pleasing to go against the good of all kind. This is what I do Akhtar; I am His messenger here.”
Suddenly, the warrior captured a cool luscious scent and darted his head almost like a bird. He shot to his feet, childish wonder overwhelming emotional control. Adonis could not fathom what remedy buried itself within the icy folds of ice cream but it was nonetheless delicious! However, before king he realized his grave mistake, eyes expanding in utter horror of how rude he had been to his company. Rushing back outside the muscular man decorated with Angelic tattoos halted before Akhtar, head drooping. “I... I... I’m sorry Your H- I mean Akhtar.”
“Got a little excited...” Scratching the back on his head nervously, the Angel kicked at the floor, embarrassed once again. Apparently feeling absolute shame was going to be a permanent thing with him!
