Veronica: The girl tilted her head as Kalkrin commented on the nickname. Really? It seemed like an obvious one. Nevertheless, the news made the girl smile brightly and nod a little in assurance. "Okay. Thanks," she said with a grin. It was funny how easily distracted this boy could get her. Ronnie nodded again and looked down to the ground. "I'm fine... I'm here because... I don't know. I just like it out here. But the storm ruined it," she said with a frown. Well, maybe it didn't ruin it entirely... Her and Kal had met, and that was a plus, right? "And you? she asked, lifting her eyes back up to his face.

Kalkrin: "Oh. I'm out here because my family REALLY pisses me off," Kalkrin gradually raised his voice unintentionally. "Sorry. They just... Yeah." He shrugged. It was true. They really pissed him off. "This storm isn't letting up obviously... Do you want to get out of it? I mean like... Um... Outside..." Kalkrin closed his eyes. Good job Kalkrin, good job being non awkward. This girl was too sweet, Kalkrin wasn't used to it. He wanted to keep hugging her even though he knew nothing about her.

Veronica: The girl frowned a little as Kal talked about his family. Were they really that bad...? "Oh... Um, I'm sorry. I can't really relate..." she said quietly, a small, sad smile on her face as she tried to pass it off. Ronnie nodded once Kalkrin asked if she wanted to get out of the storm. She wondered if her discomfort about the weather wasn't already obvious enough. "Yes, please. Do you know where we can go...? I mean... Um... If you want to hang out a little?" Ronnie mentally facepalmed again. What was that? There could've been a way better way to ask that. The girl let out a little flustered sigh and smiled shyly up to Kal. She was too comfortable in his arms.

Kalkrin: So this day was really turning out to be interesting. He met a girl... In a field... She clung to him... He gave her his jacket... And now they were trying to get out of said rain, still clinging to one another. Quite honestly Kalkrin was a little weirded out. Not by this girl, no not at all. But by the fact he was being so kind. He was never this kind. He felt the need to always push everyone away, even when he didn't mean to. He looked down at Veri again, unsure of what she meant by not being able to relate. "Oh um, well they just bug me is all." DUH. He tried to move on. "Um... I like coffee...?" Yes. Yes he did like coffee. Very much.

Veronica: Ronnie nodded as Kal said his family bugged him. She had thought that her parents had bugged her too. That is... When they were around, of course. Now, she would do anything just to have them back, even for only a day. The blonde smiled once Kal brought up coffee. She loved coffee! "I do too!" she giggled out. "There's a coffee shop in town, they're pretty good. I've been there plenty of times," she said, speaking her thoughts as she rested her chin against Kal's dampened chest. Her eyes traced over his collarbone as she continued speaking. "We don't have to go there, though... I think there's a Starbucks too, maybe? Though I haven't gone there. I like to support local businesses..." What was she saying right now? Even she didn't know when this rambling had started.

Kalkrin: Kal gave a half smile. "I kinda own the coffee shop, so I kinda have to like coffee." Kalkrin wasn't sure what he was supposed to do at the point. So he just... Casually... Turned Veri around and held his arm over her shoulders. Awkwardly, of course. "Um... I hope this isn't weird... I just... Don't want the jacket to fall off..." Sure Kal, that was the only reason you kept your arm around her shoulders.[/justify]

Veronica: The girl blinked as Kal said he owned the coffee shop. Wait... What? Had she seen him before? The girl studied Kalkrin's face for a moment. No, if she had seen him before, she definitely would've remembered him. An embarrassed blush crept up onto her cheeks as she nodded. "O-oh... Sorry," she said, chagrin taking over her voice. She reluctantly allowed herself to be turned away from his warmth and shivered a little once the cold air hit her. The way things could change in the blink of an eye... Ronnie blushed further as Kal settled his arm around her shoulders. She quickly shook her head in attempt to save herself, looking down and hiding her face as she replied. "It's fine! I, um, I understand..." she said, her cheeks red and warm.

Kalkrin: "You probably haven't seen me there because I don't usually go out for coffee," he realized how weird that sounded, yes. Kalkrin pulled the ends of the jacket closed, then placed his arm back around the girl to keep it that way. He did't feel the slightest bit cold, and even if he did he wouldn't have said anything. This girl obviously needed his grey sweater more than he. "I hope you don't mind walking. We're a couple miles from town at least..."

Veronica: Kalkrin's words weren't enough to make the girl's blush fade. It only made her wonder what he meant. Ah well, another time she would ask, maybe. Ronnie bit her lip and looked down and away as Kal tightened the jacket around her. It was an indirectly sweet action. The blonde shook her head and smiled a little, leaning ever so slightly into Kal's side. "No, it's okay, I don't mind. I did walk out here, after all," she teased. "I just hope the storm doesn't follow us..." she said quietly, her blue eyes glancing upward for a moment.

Kalkrin: The boy felt Veronica lean into him slightly and blushed, looking up at the sky too. It was really dark and it didn't look like it was going away. "I think... I think it may be one big storm... I think it's coming from the direction of the town... " Kalkrin realized that was stupid to say, considering they wanted to get AWAY from the storm. But no matter, they would be inside enjoying warm coffee. "And... I don't get coffee because it's no fun going alone..." He said after a pause.

Veronica: A worried frown took over the girl's face as she looked upward. Her eyes flashed over to Kalkrin's face as he spoke. The storm was coming from town? Wasn't that where they were headed...? Ronnie instantly tensed, her body growing anxious as she thought about it. What if something bad happened? What if... What if... The girl whimpered quietly. Not good. "Are... Are you sure we'll be okay, Kally?" she asked, her voice wavering as she looked forward. The nickname slipped from her lips, she didn't really have a say in the matter of whether or not it came out that way. It kinda just did. "I-I mean..." She stopped short once she registered what else Kal had said. Ronnie turned her head to look up to him, her blue eyes a little sad. "I know what you mean... I used to go there with my mom all the time... And now I go alone," she said, turning to look back down. She bit on her lip as she tried not to think of what they were walking into, or of what she had just brought up.

Kalkrin: The boy heard her whimper and facepalmed for real this time. So STUPID! He just told her the storm was where they were headed... Oh dear God why was he such an idiot? "F*ck, no I mean... Um..." Kal listened to what she asked. "Yes we'll be... Yeah no it's okay I swear..." Stupid stupid stupid! He listened more. Aw. Wait... Used to go? What the hell happened? Rather than asking, Kalkrin slipped up instead. "I never knew my parents to know, so-" he stopped himself. Oh for the love of God she didn't need to nor did she want to know that. Kalkrin was just on the ball tonight it seemed.

Veronica: Ronnie had to take deep breaths in order to not totally freak out on Kalkrin. She shook her head, trying to reassure him that it was okay even though she was screaming and shaking on the inside. Her trembling just barely reached the outside of her body, and she wondered if he could notice it. "I... I, uh, I trust you..." she mumbled out quietly, her fear getting the best of her and making her voice small and worried. The girl stayed quiet for a moment, then swallowed deeply once Kal commented on his parents. He didn't know them? Ronnie grimaced, her eyes turning downward as tears welled up again. She couldn't help it, the storm that they were walking into and the talk of parents was getting overwhelming. "I'm sorry... My parents were good people... I wish you could have known them, just so you could have had something of parents..." she said, her brow coming together.

Kalkrin shrugged. "I don't think my race ever knows their parents..." Wait he just... A mortal... WHY IS HE SO STUPID. Kalkrin groaned in his mind. He was just being one open son of a b*tch, huh? Kalkrin tried to move past what he said, not noticing her tears. "Wait... Used to? What happened?" Kalkrin didn't mean to be insensitive, he just was. And then something clicked. "Did... Did you just call me Kally?"

This little speck of information that Kalkrin had just knowingly or unknowingly said out loud made Ronnie lift her eyebrows. Obviously, he wasn't human... "Your... Your race?" the girl asked, her voice still shaky. She was a little excited that Kal wasn't human. Maybe she could share what she was as well, then... Ronnie was about to speak again when Kalkrin asked her what had happened. The girl locked up a little, walking stiffly as her discomfort took over. "O-oh... Um... My parents died... In a car crash..." she mumbled, her voice becoming less and less audible the more she got out. She sighed and looked away, squeezing her eyes shut. Don't cry, don't cry... It wasn't working. A few tears leaked their way out, mixing with the couple of raindrops on her pale face. "It's okay, though," she quickly said. It was reflex by now, to say that in reassurance to those who asked. Kalkrin's next question made the girl pause. She had, hadn't she? "U-um... I don't know... Maybe...?" she squeaked out, her tears and fright and now this new feeling of being in trouble all mixing together in one mess of a girl.
