Kaden was asleep, in a magically induced coma, actually. But what was happening around him was interesting. He had been shoved in a box, and shipped off to America, from the Vatican, all the way to New Orlands. The box was more like a coffin, carved with holy symbols on the front to keep him inside it if the magic induced coma didn't last long enough.
He didn't dream.
Finally, a an armored car pulled up at the front gate of the PIDA building. Three large, muscular men armed with automatic weapons got out, and opened the back, pulling out the carved box, along with a trunk full of Kaden's monster hunting gear, and then they phoned in, opening the box and administering the counter spell for the coma. He sputtered, taking a breath, and fell out of the carved boxcoffin thing onto his hands and knees, panting, and shielding his eyes from the sunlight he hadn't seen in over seventy years.
"Delivery made, do we stay and wait for them to pick him up, or just leave?"
Kaden didn't hear the response, nor did he care. He was probably going to be locked away again, and he felt too weak to do anything about it but scowl. His long, white hair hung in front of his face, wearing nothing but a pair of tattered cloth trousers. He realized it was rather cold, but he didn't let it get to him.
"Alright, we'll stay until he gets picked up by the PIDA. No problem, boss."
One of the men tossed Kaden a shirt and a pair of boots, actually apologizing for the rough treatment on the way here. He scowled again, and nodded, putting on the boots and shirt. They at least kept the cold at bay, and covered up the nasty mess of scars that covered his torso.
"So, getting transferred to another prison, I take it?"
"No, actually. The cardinal that imprisoned you is long dead. We actually just found out about you from the Paranormal Control division, and decided you would be happier AND more effective out in the field. So we're handing you over to an agency that could use the help."
"....well then. That's a surprise."
And from that moment on, thousands of thoughts seemed to run through Kaden's head as his senses cleared, muddled from the magical coma. He smelled the air, the mingling scent of humans and the paranormal both lingering in the air. This place was a hotbed of activity. Life certainly wouldn't be boring here.

This was it…the drop off site…
Secret Agent Spoon was excited for today’s assignment. Then again, when wasn’t the man excited? The young man was always pumped full of energy for just about anything that he did. But for some reason today he was extra pumped. Maybe it was of all the candy he ate for breakfast this morning before he headed off for work (he had ran out of food and hadn’t gone shopping yet), maybe it was the monster drink he had used to wash the candy down, or maybe it was just one of those days where he was just extra hyper. Whatever it was there was no denying that he was excited for this mission. And what was that mission? Surprisingly enough it wasn’t anything dangerous or hard. All he had to do was pick up a new agent and bring him in. It sounded like the easiest thing in the world to do, and truthfully it was. But what made this mission special wasn’t what he had to do, but the guy he had to bring in. This guy, according to the agency was someone special. Some super awesome mutant dude that was being handed over by the guys that made him.
I sh*t you not, a real live mutant. How awesome was that? Never in his life did Spoon thought that he would ever see a mutant. Then again, he had never thought that he ever had any kind of super power, nor did he think that he would join some top secret organization to learn how to control it and put it to good use. It shouldn’t have surprised him as much as it did when he heard about the mutant but he couldn’t help himself. He was still a noob on the force, he had little experience with the supernatural world before he joined the PIDA, and he was just starting to get used to the fact that they existed now. It was kind of crazy that the agency trusted him to carry this mission out, though the guy who gave him this mission said “There was no one else available.” Spoon took it as a sign that they thought he was trustworthy. He had to live up to their expectations now. Man, the guys would be so proud of him once they knew about this. He had already told Nova about what he was going to do yesterday, but never got the chance to tell the others yet.
Spoon stepped outside the door, taking two of the men standing around the entrance by surprise. If the awkward stares from the other men bothered him he didn’t show it (not like anyone could read his facial expressions with that mask on.) “Hey…” he said in a deep, slightly creepy voice. “Which one of you is Kaden?” the other two looked at each other before pointing out the guy between them that was busy getting dressed. Spoon’s gaze fell on the guy named Kaden. For a moment he didn’t say anything and just looked at him. This Kaden guy looked every inch the badass that he had thought he’d be. He looked strong, muscular, with scars all over his body, and cat like eyes that reminded him of Akeelah’s, only ten times more frightening. Sweet he thought, he couldn’t wait to become his friend. Maybe they could work together sometime. That would be cool.
Finally spoon walked (or rather skipped merrily) over to the man. “Hi Kaden!” he extended his arm out for the mutant to shake, his voice skipping from creepy to cheerful at the drop of a hat. “I’m Agent Nickolas Trim, but you can call me Spoon! I’m going to be your guide today!” man this was going to be so awesome! He just couldn’t wait to give him the tour. He was sure that Kaden would like it, the place was pretty big and had lots of places to explore and get lost in. He would make sure that Kaden never got lost of course, he didn’t want the guy to suffer like he did the first time he came here.

Finally fully dressed, Kaden let out a yawn. The magically induced coma had made him feel a bit weak, but it was good to see the sun again. He hadn't seen it in so long, it actually lessened his sour mood.
Then he smelled a person coming. Heard them before they showed up, but smelled them first. Smelled like sugar, and some unidentifiable substance with...taurine in it? He used to use taurine extract for energy, so maybe it was some kind of energy supplement. And more sugar. That was what this guy smelled like.
That and some kind of artificial material. Possibly wearing a mask? He had gotten used to that smell, most of the agents who fed him at the Paranormal Control division were masked. So this had probably all been a ruse to keep him calm before shoving him in another prison. He let out a sigh, his gruff, deep voice rumbling slightly.
Then he saw the man, and knew this wasn't the case. His eye twitched. Visibly. He was being inducted into an agency full of idiots, obviously. That was how much they thought of him. Either that or this insane lackey was all they could spare. Might as well play along. He had seen weirder, after all.
"Yeah, it's....uh...nice to meet you."
He sighed, and walked over to the chest containing his gear after shaking Spoons hand, and squeezing slightly hard, to get a brief "Don't screw with me" message across. As soon as he got to the trunk, he would open it, and search through it. When he took out the two swords, one of the men that had brought him here went on-alert and raised his gun.
"Easy, man. I just feel a bit naked without them."
The man lowered his gun, laughed, and shrugged as Kaden slung the swords over his shoulder, and then picked up the trunk with ease.
"So...uh...Spoon, was it? Thanks for agreeing to show me around."
Now wasn't the time to be indignant about having an idiot as a tour guide. It was time to be diplomatic. Unless he got too pissed off, in which case he would flip his shit.

It took a great deal of effort to keep himself from bouncing around in glee over the sight of the mutant. After all Kaden was one of the most interesting person that he had ever met. He was the second supernatural that he had ever met since he joined the PIDA. The first had been Akeelah when Nova had tried to hide her at their place. She was cool, but she was pretty normal and harmless for someone that could turn into a big cat and maul you to death. Kaden here was different. He looked every inch the bad ass that a supernatural should be. No wait…he wasn’t exactly a supernatural was he? He had been told that the guy was a mutant who had been experimented on by his previous caretakers. If he was an experiment then did that mean that he was technically human? Yeah…it was entirely possible that he was a completely normal human before all of this. Oh he just had to hear this guy’s story later. But wait…what if his past was really bad? Spoon hadn’t heard all the details about the guy’s life when he was given this assignment. Oh well, if Kaden didn’t want to talk about it when he brought it up that was fine. They could talk about it when they got to know each other better.
Spoon smiled when Kaden returned the handshake. His grip was unusually tight but the younger man didn’t take that badly. Strong handshakes meant that the person giving them was trustworthy, that meant that Kaden was trustworthy. Where had he heard that though? Spoon couldn’t really remember who had told him that as a kid. Oh well, it was probably true right? The masked man watched the mutant go to open his trunk and saw him pull out two swords. “Oh wow, cool!” he couldn’t help himself. The dude was carrying swords, fucking swords! Only badasses used swords. The other guys didn’t seem as impressed with Kaden’s weapons as he was though. One of the guys had pulled a gun on him. “Hey! Don’t threaten him!” he said, immediately jumping to the mutant’s defense.
Luckily the situation didn’t escalate from there. Once Kaden assured the guys that he wasn’t going to attack them the gun wielder lowered his guard. Good. Now he didn’t need to open a can of whoop ass to protect his new buddy. With the situation under control Spoon turned his attention back at Kaden. “No problem dude, that’s what I am here for!” he beamed at the man. “You don’t need to worry about your stuff, you can just drop them off at the front desk and someone will take it to your room later. Come on!” Spoon kept the door open for Kaden to go through. Now what was he going to do? Where should they go to first. Maybe he should show him the training center first, or the offices though the offices were kind of boring. Or wait…maybe he wouldn’t want to do anything too crazy yet. Hadn’t the guy been asleep for awhile? “So Kaden, I heard you were sleeping or something like that for awhile. How long have you been up? We could stop by the kitchen first to get something to help perk you up, and some food too if you’re hungry.” That was the perfect idea! The kitchen wasn’t just good for food it was a nice meeting place for the agents. It was one of the places that his group normally met up in. If they were lucky he could introduce his new friend to the rest of the gang.

Kaden smirked, although it looked out of place on his face. The Spoon guy reminded him of his kid brother, who was probably dead by now. Wait, the kid was ten when Kaden was imprisoned, so it was possible he was alive. And around eighty five to ninety years old. It was kind of a depressing thought.
He sighed inwardly at Spoon's prattling, but really, reminded him of Spork, or his brother's real name, Roland. Kid was annoying, but absolutely worshiped his big brother.
Then Spoon mentioned a kitchen, and the guys with the armored car were piling back in and driving off.
"Kitchen, eh? I haven't eaten in a few days, and a cup of coffee and a meal would be pretty agreeable right now."
He tried to remember what Spoon had said while he was thinking about his younger brother....then it came back to him in a flash.
"They kept me in a magically induced coma for transport. Probably afraid I'd escape or something. And I'll gladly drop this off at the front desk. Glad I don't have to haul it around all day..."
A thought crossed his mind. Did they have a training area? He hadn't seen combat in over seventy years. He could use some time to practice his form, maybe a few training targets to sharpen hsi reflexes, and a whetstone for his blades.
"Also, do you have a training area here? I haven't seen combat in over seventy years, so I'm rather rusty."

“You haven’t eaten anything in days? That sucks.” Spoon replied sympathetically. Life sucked when you couldn’t get decent meal. The few times he went without eating something the man tended to get a little grumpy, god forbid that he would ever have to last as long as Kaden did without a decent meal. “Then it’s decided, to the kitchen we go!” he cheered and started to lead the way to the kitchen. It was good thing that he thought of taking the mutant to the kitchen as their first stop. Though there were plenty of places in the building that were far more interesting, or useful for someone like Kaden, it didn’t make sense to drag a half starved new agent around the place. Hunger was a great distraction, what would happen if Kaden’s hunger got the best of him and he stopped paying attention? Besides, the kitchen had more than just food. There was always some agent hanging around there on break, or to meet up with other co-workers. Getting to know the people you worked with was a very important part of the job. He should know, Spoon had his own little group that he worked with a lot. His circle of friends all worked together to pick out missions, exchange information, and back each other up in case things got ugly. It was really useful given how their powers worked. When one person messed up someone else could help pick up the pieces.
He hoped that Kaden would join them once he introduced him to his buddies. He certainly looked like he had more self control than the rest of them, and he had to have more experience too. Having a kickass mutant dude as a partner would be so awesome, he was sure that the others would agree too. Spoon’s inner child squealed at the thought. Man, he was so cool to have gotten this job! With Spoon’s thoughts jumping around all over his mind he had almost forgotten what he had asked Kaden earlier till he gave him an answer. What he heard had shocked the young man. “They did what?! Those bastards!” he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Why in the world would they want to put such an awesome dude in a coma the whole time? “They’re dumb for doing that to you. You don’t seem like a bad guy. Only jerks do stuff like to good people like you.” Spoon shook his head. What was the world coming to?
“You don’t have to worry about anyone putting you to sleep here though. The PIDA people are good, we help each other out. If anyone tries to mess with you I will beat them up!...unless it’s a girl…it’s not good to beat up girl.” Where he was going with that he hadn’t a clue, his train of thought had turned so random in the past few minutes that he didn’t know why he was rambling, and he wasn’t even using his powers! The masked man just shrugged his random thoughts aside and continued going down the hall, making sure that his new friend was following alongside. As they headed down towards the kitchen Spoon pointed out some interesting things and important places. At least he hadn’t forgotten what he was supposed to do. It would be stupid of him not to give a little tour while they were going off to get noms. “Over there is the office.” He said as he pointed towards a large room ahead of them. “That’s where agents that prefer doing paperwork than active duty go. Most of the people there work on sorting out new information that they find for cases and stuff like that. You can go in there any time you want for some quiet time…and nothing else. They don’t like it when you try to living up the place by trying to start a dance party.” It sucked that they wouldn’t let him in anymore just because of that. He had just tried to boost morale, what was wrong with these people?
Spoon moved past the office now. “And here we are. The kitchen!” He stopped in front of a room a few doors down from the office. “I wonder if anyone is in here…” he mumbled, it sounded really quiet in there at the moment. Well, there was only one way to find out. Without warning Spoon kicked the door and jumped into the room. “HEY PARTY PEOPLE!”

Human companionship. Something Kaden had craved when he was locked up. Someone remembering to feed you and not saying a word was a little bit...low on the human interaction scale. That was why he was putting up with Spoon so well. Not only did he remind him of Roland/Spork, but he was simply starved for human contact. And Spoon, while strange, seemed nice enough.
That, and Spoon showed a certain kind of potential. At least reflex wise. He could tell by the way he moved. Spoon might be untrained, but....a certain way he moved, his muscle tension was promising, at the very least. Then, something actually surprised him.
He seemed nice? He must have been so starved for human companionship that he was actually BEING nice. If he didn't seem like a bad guy....well, he wasn't a leader anymore, so he didn't have to be the bad guy to make everyone else more effective.
This guy needed training, though. He couldn't be a very good judge of character if the mutant who towered over him seemed like not a bad guy. Though, Kaden had always been heroic, if a bit greedy, in the past. He liked having money, though he did have a code of honor.
Then the door opened to the kitchen, and spoon shouted something stupid. Ah, well, there were only a few agents in there, and they kind of...left, when they saw the armed mutant walk in. The kitchen seemed to be a sort of "Help yourself" sort of thing. There was what LOOKED like a pot of coffee over there, but it was unlike the coffee pots that Kaden had ever seen. There were coffee cups, some kind of powdered creamer, and sugar next to it, and it was full of the familiar brown liquid, and it even said "Mr. Coffee" on it, so he walked over and poured a cup, and sipped it experimentally. It was good and strong. Better than the mud water he had made on the stove seventy years ago.
"This...this is good coffee. This Mr. Coffee thing looks nothing like the coffee pots I'm used to, though...then again, last time I made coffee was in 1929."
The coffee pot was the first sign of things to come, Kaden supposed. Human kind progressed quickly, he knew, as he walked over to a table and plopped down, considering what kind of food he would get. Bacon and eggs sounded nice, but even a sandwich would work. ANY food, really. His stomach growled loudly.
Today just kept getting better. And more confusing.

If there was one thing that Spoon was known for (besides coming off as batshit crazy) it was for making an entrance. And boy did he make a good entrance now. Sadly the people he had hoped to amuse with his antics weren’t there, and the people that were there didn’t seem too amused by it. At first the few agents that were there just stared in surprise at Spoon. It took them a minute to gather themselves and make an abrupt exit. Spoon shot them all dirty looks as they walked away, the nerve of those jerks! Some people just had no sense of fun at all, they were even worse than TB. “Yeah well…you guys are poopy anyway!” he shouted at their retreating backs before shaking his head at Kaden. “People can be so dumb sometimes right buddy?” Spoon walked inside the kitchen with a spring back in his step. It wasn’t in his nature to hold a grudge for long. While those people hadn’t been that nice he already forgot about them and turned his focus back to what he had originally came here for.
“Anyways…this is the kitchen!” he said, sweeping his hand over the room as Kaden entered. “That there is the coffee machine. Why don’t you make a cup for yourself while I make you a sandwich or something.” Spoon failed to notice that the kettle was already full when he said that. He was already rummaging through the fridge for something to make his new friend when Kaden commented on the machine. “Wait…what?” he looked up from the fridge to stare at Kaden in surprise. “1929????How long have you been asleep?” That statement had just blew his mind. He figured that Kaden was older than he was. From the way he looked he couldn’t have been much older than his friend Jesse, but what he said just then made it obvious that he was WAY older than he thought he was. Who knew?

It was just another day at the PIDA. As usual Jesse Cox had arrived on schedule to start the day. Actually he arrived a little earlier than he normally did so he could go and take a look at the latest missions. It was that time again where someone in his group had to grab new missions to work on, and once again it was his turn to pick. There had been a lot to choose from though and even though he had arrived early so he would have enough time to grab some good ones he didn’t get much of a chance to actually look through them. It was kind of sad really. Despite having a lot of jobs to do there was always a lot of fighting amongst the other agents for the really good jobs. Sometimes the best thing that he could do was just grab whatever was close at hand and hope for the best. The man briefly scanned through all the files that he had swiped as he walked down the hall towards the kitchen. At least he seemed to have picked up a few good ones, and some really dangerous ones.
Jesse wasn’t so sure how he felt about the particularly dangerous missions yet. While all the missions available had their own risks there was just some things that he and his friends were not capable doing. Like their first mission. Jesse looked at the faint bite marks on his arm. He shuddered at the memory of the hellhound that gave him those scars. Luckily for Jesse he managed to survive his second fight, but he hadn’t been so lucky then. How would it be like to face something worse than Guillotine? How would the others hold up having to face something just as bad, or even worse than a hellhound? Maybe he should scrap the ones that were too dangerous till they were more capable? Or maybe they could just throw all caution to the wind and do whatever they had? He wasn’t sure wht he would do yet, but first he needed to get himself a cup of coffee and look over what he had when he was relaxed enough to do so.
In the distance Jesse heard a commotion that made him stop in his tracks. “What the hell?” What on earth was going on? But then he heard a familiar voice and couldn’t help but chuckle. “Of course it’s just Spoon.” He should’ve known that it had to be that kid. Who else would make such a racket? Jesse headed in the direction of Spoon’s screaming, walked past the retreating agents and into the kitchen. “Spoon, how many times do we have to tell you to keep your voice down? Do you want TB to start yelling at you again?” the older man stopped to look at the other man with Spoon. Now who the hell was this guy? Jesse was taken by surprise by the larger figure chilling by the counter. He somehow looked more out of place than Spoon did. “Who’s your friend?” he asked a little nervously. Maybe it was how menacing the guy looked, or the fact that he was carrying swords on his back that caught him by surprise.
“That’s Kaden!” Spoon turned to Jesse sounding as cheerful as ever. “He’s the new guy that I told you about. I’m going to be show him around today, but we just stopped by to get some coffee and something to eat…he hasn’t eaten in awhile.” Jesse looked back at the stranger just as it clicked in.
“Oh! I remember now!” He had heard about Kaden before Spoon had even mentioned him. He had been one of the guys that was asked to pick him up but had declined so he could pick up some missions. Poor guy had to deal with Spoon instead. “Hi Kaden, My name’s Jesse.” He offered his hand out for the other man to shake. “I’m one of Spoon’s friends. I hope he’s not causing you too much trouble.” He would wait for Kaden to return the handshake before grabbing a cup for himself. “Hey Spoon, while you are at it, do you mind making me a sandwich too? I’m starving.” He turned his attention back to Kaden, giving the man a friendly smile. “So how do you like the place so far?”

Kaden laughed at Spoon's question. He threw his head back, clutched his abdomen and laughed harder than, well, he'd laughed in a long time.
"I'm roughly a hundred and twenty years old, actually. Based on the current year, at least. I was only asleep for a few days in transit, though. I've been locked in a basement for about seventy years."
Kaden continued laughing, pausing to sip his coffee, and slowly letting his laughter trail off. He contemplated what kind of work he would be doing here, and honestly, it was refreshing. They seemed like nice enough people, working here.
When the other man came in, he quirked an eyebrow. Nobody here really looked like the warrior type, so far. Perhaps that was why he was brought in? To do the fighting? It sat fine with him, though. It was what he knew, battle.
The man greeted hmi, and Kaden shook his hand. He locked eyes with him, and gave a firm handshake, not squeezing as he had with Spoon.
"Kaden Smythe Baccar, at your service."
He was further questioned about how he liked the place, and he gave a smile, one that was out of place on his gruff, scarred face.
"Far freer a cage than I've been in in the past seventy years. I admit I don't know much of the modern world, for example how the hell this Mr Coffee thing works, we made it on the stove back in the 1920s, but....I'll get used to it."
He was admittedly perplexed by the modern world, already, with minimal exposure to it, but he didn't mind. He was mostly free, now. Happy, for the first time in what felt like, and was, ages.
"In any case, it's nice to meet you, Jesse."
He let out a small hmm noise, looking at the fridge and wondering where the ice went into it. You see, most fridges back before he was imprisoned had a place for ICE to go so they kept things cool, btu that one didn't seem to.
"Is there any bacon in there? I haven't had bacon in a long time."

Jesse had to hand it to the agency; they really knew how to pick their recruits. With the kind of people that the PIDA were allowing in now a days it came as a big surprise to see a new guy like this wandering around. It wasn’t like he thought bad of the agency or anything like that, but from time to time he couldn’t help but wonder about their choice in agents. After all any place that thought that someone like him was capable of the physical and mental labor they expected of their agents, then either the higher ups were crazy, or they were smoking something. His buddy Totalbiscuit always joked about the agency’s employment choices. But they did occasionally make good choices. Despite all of his joking TB was a pretty damn good agent, and he was a noob. Then there were people like Aro, who natural badasses. Even Jesse, despite his obvious flaws wasn’t a terrible agent. He was good at gathering information, had good ideas from time to time, and when his powers actually worked for him he could be a decent fighter. And now there was this Kaden guy. Just by looks alone the man could tell that this guy was someone that no one should mess with. Any tall, muscular, sword wielding BAMF could make the best of men nervous. Kaden’s natural intimidating presence almost threw him off till he reminded himself that if someone like him was just minding his own business in the kitchen with no escort, or chains, then he was one of the good guys. Well, technically he did have an escort. Jesse learned about that quickly when Spoon introduced him as the new guy, hearing that news made the man relax more. Good, he really was just one of the good guys. In fact, Jesse already knew a little about him beforehand. He introduced himself to the big guy and asked him how things were going so far, trying to be the friendly guy. It was in his nature to be friendly with just about anyone he met that was especially true for those that he might end up working with. Besides, past the new guy’s intimidating looks he seemed like a nice person.
Jesse looked almost as shocked as Spoon had been when he heard Kaden explain just how long he had been held captive. “Damn man, seventy years? …and here I thought that I was an old geezer.” He heard Spoon giggle at the remark and just shook his head in response before giving Kaden a little pat on the back. “You must be glad to be out of whatever hellhole you have been kept in.” he said, the man grabbed his cup of coffee and moved over to one of the nearby tables. “Come on Kaddy, sit down and relax a bit.” He offered up the seat across from him to the man before opening up the files that he had swiped earlier. “If there is anything that you want to know about the world now you can ask me or Spoon. Though if it’s about any major events I am your man. I used to teach history years ago, so I might know more than Spoon does.”
“Wait…WAIT! You used to be a teacher?” Spoon exclaimed, making Jesse laugh again.
“Yeah, I used to teach at a community college before I went into voice acting. That was years ago, but at least the knowledge comes in handy once in awhile.” Jesse started to read through one of the files when Kaden asked if there was any bacon. The man could hear his younger buddy mumbling to himself as he looked through the fridge before he yelled “BINGO!”
“I found bacon! Aren’t I awesome?” Spoon squealed with glee. “I am so going to make you guys BLTs right now!”
“Haha, you do that Spoon, thanks.” Jesse took a sip of his coffee before turning back to Kaden. “So I bet that after seventy years of being cooped up you are probably itching for some action. Did you get the chance to look over some missions when you got here?”

"Thank you, Spoon. A BLT sounds like a slice of heaven right now."
Kaden had stayed thoughtful and quiet, contemplating what Jesse had said. A history teacher? Yeah, he knew he would need help catching up on current events and what not.
"Yes...I may need help catching up on current events. I haven't exactly had more than one station no the radio in my cell. Speaking of radio....what kind of dramas do they play on the radio these days?"
Currently, he did not know that TV had replaced radio. He didn't know a lot of things, really. He was showing that the last time he had been a free man was the 1930s. Hadn't Jesse said he was in voice acting? That must mean he'd know quite a bit about what was on the radio these days.
Then again, with the more advanced technology he could see around the kitchen, he expected things had changed. For better or worse was yet to be seen. As for missions, well, he had seen one interesting one on a bulletin board he had walked past, and shoved the piece of paper in his pocket as he passed it, for later reference. As of now, he pulled it out of his pocket.
